Maybe Bob Paycheck needs to play Roller Coaster Tycoon. You know, you need to hire engineers and assign them to rides. If you don't, the rides break down and you lose money and your park loses fame. This is Tycoon 101, Bob!
Old rule of industrial production ……. When a Corp starts cutting the maintenance people but keeps the office people that corporation is within a year + of collapse . No maintenance no production .
Good rule! I don't see Disney surviving past 2025 or 2030 at the point. They may have to result back in the small company it was at it's last near bankruptcies back in the 1970s and 19080s if it's still sustained at this level of corporate losses and chaos.
I'll give it to 2030 at most for the parks but the parks will be gone if this keeps up. It wouldn't surprise me if they parks end up going away while they double-down on movies and TV shows and any cheap merch they can sell for them instead. Disney is too large for a total meltdown within a year of letting all the maintenance people go.
Getting stuck in the detention area on Rise of the Resistance is kind of interesting. It is probably more interesting than the breaking down ride once you actually get on board. One guy stayed in character while everyone else took a coffee break- he also was the guy directing people to the bathroom which I can now say that I used a castmember bathroom. I have to applaud that one First Order Officer- sure the other cast members were nice to those of us who chose to stay in line. However, they should have stayed in character with lines about prisoner transfer for the Resistance cast-members or that will look good to the Supreme Commander that you are obeying orders. There is also something wrong about First Order and Resistance members taking an extending break on a Star Destroyer set while one guy barks orders about going to the bathroom. Overall, it was priceless especially since I was surrounded by Brits that day. As for the ride, it was okay after it broke twice on me while in line, but I saw more imagination in Star Tours which I rerode several times or stuff over at Universal. The Imagineer edge is gone.
@@StarWarsThrowbacks People are such a bunch of wusses these days. When i got freaked out at stuff like this as a kid, guess who got to explain it to me, my parents.
@@StarWarsThrowbacks My first experience with Rise was at Disney World and the cast members were completely in-character and were properly "mean" like the bad guys should be. Then when I went to Rise at Disneyland the experience was completely different. Now I know why!
I was never really a super Disney theme park person, but now I'm really glad I got to go to Disney world once sometime between 2010-2014. I got to see the park in, what I assume to be, great shape. I doubt it will ever be the same now.
@Edward Lee Miller Glad I experienced Disneyland in 90's. Nothing bad to say about it then, aside from having to experience the garbage known as Light Magic the one time.
@@kevinlee7678 You mean "Light Tragic" so bad that Eisner wanted it gone as soon as he saw the crowd's reaction. It barely lasted 6 months at Disneyland. 😅
I went in 2019 and I saw the last bit of what disney world can offer. Got to experience the fast pass got to ride the disney express ride from the airport to your hotel. I mean it was so much smooth transition from the airport to your hotel. Now I see disneyworld as a headache
The biggest problem with Rise of the Resistance is the combination of trackless vehicles and elevator platforms. This requires multiple safety systems, and if the control system loses communication with any one of the 34 vehicles for even a second, an emergency stop is triggered that shuts down the entire ride. It then takes at least 45 minutes to restart. On average, the ride goes down three times a day. The attraction has the lowest reliability rating in all of Disney World.
My lady and I were in Disney world in 2021, and we actually made it through the entire pre-show, and were literally being boarded onto the ride vehicle. They hit the start button, then BAM, lights on, broke down. They evacuated us, and they gave us a return fast pass. It really soured the whole experience, and yes, I even got this on video lol. It'll forever live in our home videos.
Almost glad it isn't Return of the Jedi based like it was originally planned. Much more fitting for this stink pile to be connected to the Sequel Trilogy.
Disney needs to get to doing what Walt did, no compromises on preventative maintenance. He actually threw out investors who came to him in meetings and told him to cut back on preventative maintenance for cost reduction. That was one of the things Walt would be furious at his company doing today. One of many, many things. It doesn't help that Disney is so focused on the bottom line that they can't see the forest for the trees. People aren't spending as much because they don't have as much money to spend, the last thing you want to do is raise the barrier to entry with price increases, which feeds into people spending even less on food and merch in the parks. If Disney would just lower park entry prices and prices of food and merch, along with raising over-all quality, they might have a chance. As for crowding? One solution is to make sure they have crowd eater attractions running like the People Mover, which works fantastically for making the Magic Kingdom Park feel less crowded even if it's at max capacity. Another would be to say "Sorry, we've reached the point of capacity where the rides and attractions are at saturation levels, so we can not let anyone in until some people leave." The reservation system helps with this too, as there's simply so many people these days you have to have one. No more quiet seasons isn't helping matters. It'd also help to make sure that the rides are all equally appealing to people, even if they feature themes and characters some people don't like. I mean, take Peter Pan's Flight in both resorts. It is a constant crowd builder, with 50 minute wait times even 10 minutes into the park opening each day. It's not even the most advanced attraction Disney has, and it still attracts big crowds. They need to get focused on providing unique experiences again, no matter the level of technology involved. If I wanted to ride the best roller coasters, I'd go to Six Flags or a Universal Park. If I wanted to be at an attraction with a lot of screens, I'd go to Universal. I go to Disney because they used to be the kings of immersive attractions, even with rides based on films that are otherwise difficult to realize with Audio Animatronics. Now I wonder if I should be going to Knott's Berry Farm(Which I made my first ever trip to earlier this year), Universal, Six Flags Marine World, or heaven forbid Magic Mountain... I'd probably be getting my money's worth from those for experiences they provide that are really no different to what Disney has now... A sad statement from a hardcore Disney fan who frequented Disneyland and spent entire vacations just at Disneyland for 7-10 days per vacation. Yes, while I'm hoping for a great time in my first trip to Disneyland during the Christmas season, I fear this may well be the last time I go if they don't turn things around. Heck, even the price is a big yikes thing to me... Like, I may only get one trip in next year before my father retires with prices as they are, and that's if they don't go under in that period...
Disney has you waiting in the entertainment bread-line for $160 a person. Throw on the cost of parking, travel, stay, using vacation days, restaurants for every meal. The quality of the experience just doesn't seem worth it. People bring their families to the park based on their experiences as a child at the park. If everytime you show up, things are broken and the lines are stupidly long, then your children as a parent will remember the disappointing experiences and not bring their kids.
Rode Rise of the Resistance a month ago at Disneyland. Worked. Biggest gripe is that it was themed to the sequel trilogy. It was weird - like a fad you totally forgot about until you walk into some random small town and it’s still a thing. Actually, I preferred Smuggler’s Run. Maybe because we did it during Fireworks so it was like a 15 minute wait
When I was riding Rise I was thinking about is how easy it would be to set it during the original trilogy . It's a fun ride even if it's set in a part of Star Wars that I don't care for.
@@mdfgreenlantern Oh yeah. It would be simple to re-theme. I would recommend it if it’s working. The Disneyland version seems to be more reliable. In general, DL seems to be a bit more together than DisneyWord from what I’ve heard…. Which is weird because they had a ton of cast members quit and not come back because of the lockdowns and Gavin Newsom’s flirtation with being Handsome Stalin
@LM can confirm, family rode Rise of the Resistance multiple times every day last week at Disneyland, and experienced no problems. Not being a shill, because they reported that Splash Mountain is a mess
If I ever saw Kneon and Geeky IRL, I wouldn't believe it was them, because they wouldn't be slowly hovering up, then down. Unlike these _Far Worse_ projects, which only go down.
We had this exact scenario play out with Rise at Disneyland 3 weeks ago. Park was INSANELY busy on a Wednesday and even with Genie+ we could barely get on any rides. Daughter decides to use $50 on her gift card to pay for Rise for herself and brother so she could ride something that day. When their time came up of course Rise breaks down right then. So the set-time passes turn into anytime that day Rise passes. Which is fine if the dang thing will ever come back up. We tried for 3 hours but it never opened up again and by that time we were all so sick of the crowds we bailed the parks early at about 4pm. Was going to stop at Guest Relations on the way out to try for a refund but of course there was a very long line for that too. So we figured "fine Disney, you win" and they could just keep the $50.
Hmmm. I'd almost take bets that those animatronics are stuffed full of plastics and cheap grease to save money: basically a super-sized version of what your in-freezer ice machines are filled with. Low material cost, low production cost, low electricity requirements, low hypothetical replacement cost... and very poor reliability and durability. That kind of crap won't last long under the stress of aluminum or thick polyvinyl, let alone steel. I wonder how long before disaster strikes on a roller coaster or the Tower of Terror because someone cut cost/corners?
How ****ing cheap are they not to put that money to real use in fixing everything the right way? Doesn't anyone have guts to call out on these idiots for failing to fix anything?
Love how park admission tickets are up up up up, souvenirs are up up up, food is up up up, but portions, ride performance, and staffing are in free fall. Holy shit it’s actually going to be abysmal this summer when no one can afford to go, and anyone unlucky enough to go is met with the shitshow that awaits them.
I remember what I would call...end of life with rides at King's Island in Ohio. When I was growing up it was Paramount's King's Island so there was a lot of themed rides like Top Gun and Outer Limits. When a new ride opened they would go all all out with the effects. Top Gun has a sort of flight deck youd walk through in queue. At first there was fog, radar screens, radio chatter, etc. Over time the fog went away and more stuff was turned off or went inert. Maybe it was planned that way. Unfortunate, but you could tell they were thinking ahead about how to down ramp rides after a couple years.
Paramount owned Canada's Wonderland for a time and we also had Top Gun and Outer Limits with all those effects. Then before they sold it the effects would lessen over time. Unfortunate.
I'm still bit jealous I never got to experience tomb raider in it's prime. But yeah paramount would install tomb raider and that with all these effects and then they would quickly stop working the next year. They wanted parks that could competitie with Universal and Disney, but didn't realize how much resources it takes to maintain all that from what I've always heard.
What? You mean the ride that was rushed to opening despite repeated warnings and protests from the Imagineers is now having consistent operation issues? *You don’t say!*
Sliding guns no longer works. Sometime rens animatronic after the command center loses and power so you go to B mode. The track the vehicles go on is starting to get bumpy the whole way. The lightsaber at the top of the turbolift sometime works and sometimes doesn’t
We were at WDW in early October and got stuck in the hanger/stormtrooper area on Rise for 45 minutes. It eventually got going again and we were able to ride it.
Look on the bright side, you got to hang out with the Wally World bucketheads from the Sequel trilogy with their goofy smiles and sunglasses for 45 minutes. I see that as a win, just sayin’. 😏
I just went to Star Wars land for the first time back in March….and I no longer need to ever visit this place again. It’s a one & done. Also the smoothies they have there is the most nasty shit I ever drank! 🤮
Just got back from Disney world. Rise of the resistance broke down twice the day we were there. The good news is that because of the breakdown we only ended up in line 12 minutes. The bad news is that most poor souls we're in line four hours. Yes, 4 hours.
Star Wars rides would have been so cool back in the 80s. Star Wars rides in 2022 should be futuristic and amazing and instead... They are malfunctioning and subpar just like 2022.
Paused at 8.5 minutes as a thought occurs. The At At's being OT design...we know KK came along at X point in the design process to change everything over to ST stuff. Which got me thinking that KK Didn't come along during the Design Process to force the changes, the AT-AT's Prove she came along with the Forced Changes Not during the Design Process as That would have made the mecha the Updated Designs seen in TLJ. As they are OT design mecha, Original AT-AT's she Had to have made the changes when they'd Already Started the BUILDING PROCESS!! Which INFERS that what the Imagineers had already designed had Already been Green Lit and were X far into the Actual Physical Building of Props when KK came along and forced the changes to fit the ST. This is Why Galaxy's Edge is SO BORING, 2 "rides" and the other "attractions" there are all Retail Based purchase experiences and what's left is Overpriced Merch shops. My non stop Lament that there is No LASER TAG which to me is a No Brainer for a Star Wars theme park, could Plausibly Have been apart of the original Imagineers design before the changes. Anyways it's just a thought, now back to the video
I agree. Laser tag with stormtrooper plasteel armor, instead of vests...the guns could be 44-carbine blaster rifles... I could see that. Maybe teams- half in resistance armor the other half in imperial trooper armor. Sounds amazing. It could even go further. Picture a real life laser raid, with groups of troopers against a rancor or something. Maybe a stormtrooper training camp where they teach you to shoot. So much wasted potential.
The funniest part, going through the ride - it comes off as 'simple to the point of pathetic, masquerading as inventive'. And yet, breaks down all the time. lol Mediocrity - thy name is affirmative action.
I asked a friend who went to Disney World this summer how it was. She said it wasn’t worth it and that she and her family will never go back again. They are going to Italy instead next year. They use to go to Disney World every summer. Nice going Disney.
Disney completely squandered the time during the COOF when everything was restricted. They could have been at work fixing what they needed to fix in the Parks.
I just went to Universal for the first time and rode Harry Potter, Forbidden Journey and I would say that ride was just as complicated and immersive as Rise of the Resistance. Plus this is an older ride. And rode the King Kong ride and that has a pretty big animatronic and it works just fine.
That is why you should boycott Disney parks since Disney gets the money from the parks. The rides still break. Disney should never be in charge of any citizen decision-making.
Didn't the same thing happen to the Yeti in Animal Kingdom? Worked for like a year, then it turns out they designed it wrong and it was actually threatning the structure of the ride so it's been switched off ever since?
It would be a fairly straightforward fix too. They’d just need to put up the money to cut up part of the mountain to get to where the Yeti is to replace its foundation.
@@ntfoperative9432 You dont know what you dont until its too late. There will be access for basic maintenance such as replacing motors, electrics and hydraulics but who thinks about having to replace the foundations?
@@ntfoperative9432 The Yeti was built into the very foundations of the mountain itself. The robot is too powerful; it was wearing out the foundation with every lunge and it was only operational for a few months. The Imagineers know how to fix it, what they lack is the funding from Disney to make it happen.
They don’t tell you when a ride reopens universal has something like that on their app but Disney doesn’t, you have to stalk what ever the attraction is in the app. We lucked out doing the rat ride as a walk on because he ran to it right after it re opened from some sort of break down.
When i was younger i went to Disneyland with my scouts group. On the Haunted Mansion ride in the elevator room something went wrong and we were stuck for 20 minutes. Cool thing was where the staff were trying to repair the issue, we coukd see through that wall as they fixed it and we could hear them talking to us. It was, three guys working on it.
My favorite were some amateur filmmakers who were trying to make a guerilla horror film in the Haunted Mansion, and during one ride-through, the Haunted Mansion went down trapping them for a long time JUST before the hitch-hiking ghosts, so they just filmed straight ahead and incorporated that into the film. If you wanna check it out, look for "Missing in the Mansion"
How many times has their rides broken down over the years? & worse yet with riders on? It's becoming risky to ride these things, esp now as Disney doesn't even care to properly maintenance this.
It’s funny seeing pixiedusters justify rides breaking down. If a ride is shut down for months during a refurb, there should be no reason why it should break down the first day of reopening and various times throughout the week.
I might have missed this but, as loyal Disneyland veteran (I grew up close to Anaheim) I wouldn't get ANY kind of Lightning Lane for Rise because when we go now (I am now living in Oklahoma) it's on a trip back and we usually get ONE day to visit the park so if I get LL and Rise breaks down, Game Over. I MAY come back up but if it doesn't that's it for us, our one shot at it.
When ideology is more important than competence, the level of expertise declines and the result is a dysfunctional organization. That’s why music sucks, TV sucks, the movies suck and Disney rides are breaking down.
I went on "the Rise of the Rresistance" in A Mode, and it was alright, but it's not a ride I'ld go on again. It's not like the Haunted Mansion, which if I ever went back to the park, I wouldn't miss. I used to feel that way about Pirates of the Caribbean, but because of the changes they made to that attraction, I avoided on my last two trips to Disneyland in 2019 and in 2020, before the shutdowns.
We went in September to Disneyland and we made sure Rise was the 1st ride we did because we were worried about it breaking down. It's a fun ride and I think it could easily be changed to be set during the original trilogy when they decide to drop the sequel stuff. The funny thing was that day everything else was down at different times but Rise was up all day.
Literally all the old attractions and rides have ran better and longer than these new attractions. Hell, Kitchen Kabaret worked better, and that's been gone since like what..late 90s?
I remember the people mover ran constantly (that thing that would pass through space mountain and such) and somehow never broke down even tho it was constantly in motion.
@@Disneyfan82 Paycheck , D'Amaro, Potrock and Vahle doesn't like to spend the money on the needed repairs, upkeep and refurbishments. We went back to the ride the next day and thankfully it was working in A mode but still, it shouldn't happen! Not to mention that the Haunted Mansion ride broke down too and I never experienced Haunted Mansion breaking down ever!
It doesnt matter how the ride is maintained. It matters WHO is doing the maintenence. It is being maintained by a diverse workforce, with hiring and promotion for correct races, genders, and sexual identities. Is that not enough for you?
I don't know why anyone would think Cheapek will make any differences in the Studios with how lousy a job he did running the parks into the ground when he ran them and continues to allow them to decline
Whatever's going on in their parks, malfunctions and the awful state of it, have nothing to do with the company's politics, it's cutting corners and caring only about short term profits and immediate sales/returns instead of the other way around.
I'm glad I got to go to Disney Land in the 80's. We lived an hour from it and would go every year. I can't even imagine what it's like and the cost now days.
as somone who went in the 2000s it was much more expensive but it was still within range of middle class if you saved up. And by saving up i mean putting spare change in a jar kind of saving up.
@@NoahGooder 2022 saving up means selling a kidney on the black market. Though the price of filling a tub with ice for the donator to wake up in is cutting into the profits.
The only way the rides could be any more messed up is if Disney subcontracted them to William Afton. 😁 I heard the Fazbear animatronics are just to die for. 😆

I wonder just how committed Disney is to their parks at this point. All this news about rides not working half the time, trash everyone, fights breaking out, park employees giving up and not caring about it, etc. I wonder if they WANT the parks to fail so they can justify cutting them at this point.
I got on it last month in Disneyland CA. Seemed fine to me. My nephew also got on it twice before that earlier in the year and he said everything was working.
I worked at The Great Movie Ride back in 2009, and it went down sooooooo many times. It was down more often than working. Good times. Just mentioning this cause you guys brought up GMR, and it brought back memories.
Those were some dark years between the Coca-Cola and Turner Classic Movies sponsorships. When TCM sponsored the GMR, pretty much everything worked until the final day.
I went to Disneyland last month and went on Rise of the Resistance without knowing anything about it beforehand. There was no line, since apparently it just reopened after a breakdown. The line queue is LONG, just walking through it takes 5-6 minutes. There was a Kylo Ren animatronic during the ride that's probably supposed to threaten you, but he was frozen in place with his head down, like he just died standing there. It would've been cool if the ride car had laser guns like Astroblasters does.
Ive just reached a point that even tho I havent been to disney since I was a kid (specifically because of the cost) that I dont know if Ill ever go even if I had the money. It seems like such a waste....why would I pay hundreds, nearly thousands of dollars...for broken rides? Hiked up costs of food and hotels? For less? On the other hand I have been to universal twice and while they dont have as many fancy rides compared to disney, ive never had a broken ride experience. Always top notch. Lines are also not as bad as the ones I remember even back when I was a kid at disney. My dad got pooped on by a bird while we waiting in a line for Briar Rabbit and the line was wrapped around the entire ride before we even entered the queue. RIP ever going to a disney park again I suppose....
I want to make sure you guys see this. Blizzard beach was not renovated at all! There’s still cracks all over the fake snow structures, rust everywhere, nothing painted, pieces chipping off at random locations, and no real theming anymore. Also the day after it opened, yesterday, there were less than 1000 people in the park. I think they just closed it because they know how low the demand is.
Would you look at that, is not everyday you see that a company manages to broke a franchise in both merchandise and theme parks… Truly the management of Star Wars under Disney is legendary levels of bad. Also I was in Hollywood Studios this year, and yes that stuff was broken every time we tried to ride, also all soda was worth $5… Yeah I am not letting that one die, in my country $5 is equal to 40 of my currency, and with that you could buy 3-4 bottles of 3Lts of Coca Cola. Also the genie app is downright theft.

the cast members are the true stars of this ride.
Galaxy's Edge should shut down and go back to being Big Thunder Ranch in Disneyland, California and Streets of America in Hollywood Studios, Florida.
Layoff the employees and cut budgets elsewhere meanwhile keeping Executive Bonuses.

Disney got your daughter’s money, and that is all she wrote…
I wouldn't play that game.
Id just walk into a store and grab something that is $50 and walk out the store in exchange
That's what I've kept worrying about too. Horrifying to think about.
It'll get to Carnival levels of dangerous.
what's even more nuts about the breakdowns - they were down for COVID!! It hasn't even been the full two years! Holy cow what a $#!t show!
Kings Island in Cedar point away better parks in Disney is in my opinion
Paramount owned Canada's Wonderland for a time and we also had Top Gun and Outer Limits with all those effects. Then before they sold it the effects would lessen over time. Unfortunate.
I miss going to Kings island.
I use to
Love kings island when I was a kid. I love the Nickelodeon kids park.

As they are OT design mecha, Original AT-AT's she Had to have made the changes when they'd Already Started the BUILDING PROCESS!! Which INFERS that what the Imagineers had already designed had Already been Green Lit and were X far into the Actual Physical Building of Props when KK came along and forced the changes to fit the ST.

I was at Hollywood Studios about a month and a half ago and near as I can tell it was in A mode. One of the highlights of the trip!

Wait, they hadn't already cut back on maintenance? I wonder if Cheapass is gonna go with the Action Park rules of determining if a ride's broken...
I'm surprised the Star Wars IP is still profitable enough for Disney to justify dumping more money into it. I guess Baby Yoda sales are still strong.

Didn't the same thing happen to the Yeti in Animal Kingdom? Worked for like a year, then it turns out they designed it wrong and it was actually threatning the structure of the ride so it's been switched off ever since?

Cool thing was where the staff were trying to repair the issue, we coukd see through that wall as they fixed it and we could hear them talking to us. It was, three guys working on it.
My favorite were some amateur filmmakers who were trying to make a guerilla horror film in the Haunted Mansion, and during one ride-through, the Haunted Mansion went down trapping them for a long time JUST before the hitch-hiking ghosts, so they just filmed straight ahead and incorporated that into the film.
If you wanna check it out, look for "Missing in the Mansion"
Cutting costs, increasing prices; it’s the Disney way! 🤑
Disney Star Wars is dumpster fire 🔥. There is only George Lucas Star Wars.
I went on "the Rise of the Rresistance" in A Mode, and it was alright, but it's not a ride I'ld go on again. It's not like the Haunted Mansion, which if I ever went back to the park, I wouldn't miss.
