Dreamworks already embarrassed Disney with Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. That film had half the budget of Strange World and even less compared to Lightyear. Unlike those two Disney movies, Puss in Boots has already turned a profit and is still going pretty strong.
I took my family to Universal Studios Hollywood this weekend. We had a great time. I appreciated the fact that we didn't need to bother with making reservations to schedule our trip. The new Nintendo World is gorgeous, though admittedly VERY crowded.

Most of us go to a theme park to not make up a story but to live and be inside a story. This idea that people want to constantly interact and make up their own story and improv is not what most people want to do. Sure some people get off on that, but most, and I mean probably upwards of 80%, don't want to do this. I myself go to a theme park to immerse my brain in a place that doesn't require a lot of thinking or me having to make up my own story. The Disney company is very very misguided when it comes to this concept. They have literally taken it too far
Hey Neon. Nothing has changed. I'd say most of middle and upper management within the corporate ranks remain conservative in their politics, but today they've been silenced by fear controlled by a small vocal minority within the company. It's unfortunate. It really constricts creativity.
The company is controlled by the leftist front-line hourly workers (unskilled labor) and entertainment types because the California leadership only listens to them. Florida management has always been treated as stupid by the California HQ. DeSantis said it right when he said that he will not sit by and allow California company leaders to dictate Florida policy. That is exactly what CA Tea Disney tried to do.
Super Nintendo World is finally opened at Universal Studios Hollywood- & it's doing as well as many though it would- & Disney I would bet is also taking noticed of it too. But they got nothing of interest to counter it.
Disney: But......But.....But......We've got the Galaxy Starcruiser! *Turns and points at what is little more than a series of cement cellblocks they're trying to pass off as a hotel.* Anyone with a brain: Yeah.......That SUCKS!
I think Disney doesnt have much in the works. Their projects pipeline is probably severely lacking. Universal seems like they're working on big projects more now than they ever have in the past. I also wonder how much damage moving imagineering to Florida may also play into their situation.
And this was all avoidable. Had Disney not been so focused on politics and ideology, and didn’t just think “oh we’re Disney, we’ll always be successful,” they probably wouldn’t be in this situation.
Disney now has to get permits for anything and everything they want to build, and it will now take twice as long, and probably cost twice as much. They are so screwed.

I feel so bad about Disney’s name and creativity getting dragged through the mud by these fools running Disney. Bring Eisner back with a creative COO. Hope Universal and namely Comcast turns up the heat.
Eisner was good for the company financially but he destroyed the family-friendly "Walt Disney" culture. He turned it into a soulless corporate culture after Frank Wells died. I was there. I lived it. Current management cannot save it.The free ride on its past laurels is over. Others watched, learned, and innovated and will put the final nails in Disney's coffin. It will eventually be split up and sold for parts.
Now and then when I watched movies I often wondered "Why don't they just make those movie sets available to the public to play around in?" and I assume that's the whole point of Imagineering. I guess the only kind of fantasy and imagination that people wanted to make into reality wasn't fun fantasy set pieces, but imagining what perfect socialism looks like.
A lot of movie sets or scenes from animated movies don't work out well in real life or are generally not safe for the public. The point of imagineering like the harry potter section of universal is to make these places fun and safe.
The reason is it is not safe for the public. It would not be worth it to hire safe people to keep the public safe. Plus you would be blocking off a sound stage for a long time and making movies is more profitable for the sound stage.
Well this is what happens when you fire or chase out people who are responsible for the success of your theme parks. And you hire a bunch of talentless hacks, because they have check boxes. Honestly as much as I respect the talented imagineers. I don't if they can do anything to fix or ad anything good with Disney'd themes park. With all the stupid CRT and other Divisive Mandates. Unless they have full control, Universal is going to eat all their lunches. And sadly. CRT Worshipping Bobs Disney deserves.
I feel for you kneon. I’ve always been a lean left( in a red state), but more for policy than socially. Socially however, I’ve always leaned a bit conservative. Now most people are labeled based on where they stand socially. Wages, healthcare, SS, workers rights…these things aren’t even in the discussion anymore. So better to just avoid interest in politics. It is an ugly beast.
This presentation reminds me of how old the crowd favorite rides are. Want to paddle canoes? There's the Mark Twain at Disneyland--an opening-day attraction, along with the revised Dumbo and the much-revised Disneyland Railroad. "What if Disney made a new theme park attraction and nobody came?" That would be Galactic Starcruiser.
whats with the picture of boardroom members wearing polished shoes carrying shovels/paddles pretending they're doing physical work? Disney must be dropping bricks if even their photo ops miss the mark like their movie plots
Everything Disney Corp. does goes through layers of accountants and has the feel of cheapness and old tech. Disney will need years and years to undo the mess that is marvel, epcot, resorts and customer satisfaction/experience. They lost billions with Reedy Creek over bonds and future taxes. Don't forget the resorts and parks carried the debacle that is Disney. They are proud of the parks/resorts cash grab and fleecing vacationers for every cent possible.
I love how right winger got treated like a doormat, degenerate, and be attempted to exorcised out of society as granny killers. Then expect to be "forgive and forget, guys? Why aren't you be more christ-like?" What a time to live....
Imagineering has sunk so low even during the time I was working there in office capacity. It was weird. More people were in love with their status at a job than actually being an innovator in design
Disney's main issue is that they have zero properties they haven't ruined and no one cares about anymore. Universal has many properties that they can build on that people still enjoy.
Geeze, I remember being at the Great Lakes Naval Training Command back in 1979 -- one TV channel almost incessantly advertised that Disney disco record. Strange, I have never heard any of the songs on that record other than the snippets on the ad. It was surreal enough that I can still remember "He's a macho, macho duck!" I figured this was an attempt to cash in on the much more popular -- and earlier -- "disco duck".
likely because universal doesn't typically announce new things until they have all the paperwork filed and construction companies ready to break ground so they can start building.
Still a current protected brand logo. Only Steamboat Willie Mickey will become public domain, but try to use it without violating Disney's corporate brand....nearly impossible. If you try, be prepared to spend millions defending your use.
All the rides need a total reboot because they haven't been wowing audiences since the 1990s. Under the umbrella of DEI/ESG it's doubtful that can anyone can save them unless they suddenly go private and get out of the corporate world where they don't have to answer to "stakeholders" instead of shareholders. Universal will be stealing more and more of their business because kids now care more about Mario and Harry Potter than they do about Goofy and Elsa.
You can't be creative and expressive in a time and age when 90% creativity and expression can be interpretated as offensive or problematic for people on Twitter lol. The other 10% is only safe until they figure out how to victimize that.
What can the fans do outside of these businesses that can help with getting profit, not just in Disney, Warner Bros, Universal Studios, Comcast and many others, but in our pockets without showing that we are fans of all of those medias? What can we do to loosen some of the copyright laws? And do you need millions of dollars to make some changes happen in the business and for the fans?
If Disney continue to run off their bread & butter customers & going all in on D I E, coupled with Mario opening very soon at Universal then that might just well be the beginning of the end for Disney. No matter who they bring back it could be too little too late. Kids love Sonic. Kids love Mario. Kids like Harry Potter. Disney has none of those, what they do have, they have ruined.
Just out of curiousity, I heard a couple of years ago that they were changing the [hhrase "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls", to something like "dreamers of all ages". Was that going to go back to the original? Just curious.
Hey, you were talking about the Disco Disney album. A lot of the streaming services seemed to have dropped Zip a dee do da. If you search for it, kids' albums come up, but the track is not there..
Step One: Rework Galaxy’s Edge to make it an Original Trilogy attraction. Step Two: Cut the prices of tickets, food, hotels, etc. (If you have a 1000 room hotel, and you charge $5000/night, but you can only rent out about 100 rooms, are you really making a profit?) The profit is in mass sales, not the individual sales.
The profit is in the ancillary sales. Food, merchandise, snacks, etc... 1000 families buy a ton more than 100 families. The room rental rate doesn't come close to making up the difference. Just like the Theme Parks, the more people in the ark, the higher the profits on everything...ticket price is minimal toward the revenue totals.
@@parajerry and when you charge so much money that only 1% of the population can even afford to attend the parks, you’re financially shooting yourself in the foot. Lowering the price of attending the parks and staying at the hotels allows more people to attend the parks and stay at the hotels. The more people who attend, the more people are going on the rides, buying food and souvenirs. It’s all connected. And if the food and souvenirs are less expensive, the more of them will be sold.
Noooo! Please no more "trackless" rides!!! The tech is cool and all but the result are wide open areas devoid of any theming on the floors, so you end up more detached from the setting and theme of the ride, and wide empty rooms compared to their own traditional rides. Everything looks more clinical compared to linear track rides.
Disney tried to bring California politics to central Florida and it failed big time, if Chepek kept to entertainment this would not have been a problem.

@@edo1497 They may replace The Simpsons ride soon according to certain reports, makes sense since the rights may be up for negotiation soon and Disney now controls them.
Originally, Disneyland was miserly with putting IPs in the park. Now, everything is IP--except in the hotels. Has Disney figured out that if the overpriced hotels are attractions in their own right, their customers spend time in their hotels instead of flocking to the parks? Perhaps Disney will figure out that when IPs are removed from the hotels, it will be better for customers to rent a car and stay off-property when touring Disney theme parks. Perhaps not. That might require common sense.
Airbnb is actually starting to go downhill. Just as the housing market is starting to go down and the rental market is starting to go down so is this one. In fact in a lot of cities are not filling those particular Airbnb rentals very well anymore. This is something that’s being discussed a lot with real estate people. I think Disney is trying to make it seem like they stole him away. It was probably more in lines of they offered him a job and where he is now is going downhill. He left.
Problem with that. Is that new Pokémon games come out every three years. Japan is at least lucky enough to wear. Pokémon can do mascot character things. Here in the Phoenix area, we already have smallish things like Medieval Times, Great Wolf Lodge, Legoland, and some well-established waterparks that do tons of business, especially in our wretched summers. But there is a new 11 acre waterpark + hotel + rides and attractions venue being built featuring Mattel IPs (specifically Masters of the Universe, Barbie, Thomas and Friends, and Hot Wheels). If the quality is there, and the prices decent, I can see a good chunk of Valley residents taking fewer drives over to Anaheim and just doing "staycations" at this park. It might even be able to draw folks over from NM or down from UT or CO, being within reasonable driving distance (unlike CA). Sure, it isn't going to be Disney in its prime, but Disney isn't IN its prime anymore. My young kids actually get excited to check it out every time we drive by the build site.
I agree! This move by Disney is literally them putting a bandaid on a broken leg and hoping they don’t bleed out!! Like putting a bicycle patch on the ocean. Disney’s ship is sinking and it’s sinking in a hurry.
I can already see them cutting corners in the entire theme park division. I can bet they are gonna replace lots of pratical effects in rides to more of those BS screens. It's gonna make the Fast and Furious ride look like classic Thunder Mountain in comparison.

they're afraid of what will be seen when Reedy Creek's opening of records goes *public* ;)
Their fear over Super Nintendo World ought to be peanuts in comparison to what the Mario _Movie_ will likely do to them.

Growing up, Imagineering was a dream job second only to ILM.
Now, with all the corporate ideologues sticking their inept fingers where they don't belong, those jobs sound more like a living hell.
Imagine crashing and burning Marvel and Star Wars. Two of the biggest IPs ever made. It blows the mind.
Wife just rode Tron - said its EXTREMELY short and would have been PISSED if they waited 2 hours for that
I was expecting Disney to ignore universal for another year. It’s odd seeing them do something for once
Galaxy’s Edge was a gigantic missed opportunity. Speaking for my part as a Floridian, I’d be there every 6 months or so if I could’ve been at a park based on the OT. I have Z-E-R-O interest in the sequel trilogy bullshit.
OTOH, I can pop over to Universal, walk down Diagon Alley, drink some butterbeer, and buy a wand.
Hiring people who are not qualified just to fill certain quotas leads to disaffection, debilitation, dysfunction, and ultimately downfall.
See current Administration.
With what money are they gonna use?
They know Super Nintendo world is gonna slap their cheeks without mercy.
Well Mario is one of the most popular fictional characters on the planet. And some recognize him more than Mickey mouse.
And Mario has only been around for almost 40 years compared to Mickey's 90+ years of existence.
You know I really don't understand how hard it was to screw up this bad like all disney had to do was make decent movies and keep the theme park magic around it should be the easiest thing to do but somehow they have screwed up this bad
It's amazing how Bob Iger and the Board STILL continue to refuse to see that "Get woke, go broke" is very much real.
Oh well.
Let them burn. I'll get the popcorn.
They probably do see it, but they gotta act like nothing is wrong
They won't stop until the phantom funding of woke stops
I hope Hollywood passes the woke bill. The faster Disney and Hollywood die, the better .
What is this "woke bill"?
@@dastvan8002 I believe that it's basically if you make movies/TV in California (not sure if animation falls under this too) you have to fill all the diversity checkboxes they want or your stuff doesn't get made.
@@dastvan8002 The California bill that will end Hollywood if passed, it will bankrupt them eventually. This is the time for moderates and conservatives to construct a new industry in Texas and Florida to compete with the failing California.
I didn't realise people hated Finding Nemo so much. 20 years ago since that movie came out.
If that bill passes it will be funded by the California taxpayers. I for one don't believe in it and don't want my taxes funding this garbage bill
This is a very good point!
Disney:"Make your own story."

Super Nintendo World is finally opened at Universal Studios Hollywood- & it's doing as well as many though it would- & Disney I would bet is also taking noticed of it too. But they got nothing of interest to counter it.
I’m dying to go to Super Nintendo world some day
Disney: But......But.....But......We've got the Galaxy Starcruiser! *Turns and points at what is little more than a series of cement cellblocks they're trying to pass off as a hotel.*
Anyone with a brain: Yeah.......That SUCKS!
And so the greedy hydra (Disney) starts to eat its own heads.
Give me back classic Splash Mountain & the Teacup Ride.
I still have my Figment from when I was a teenager and I am 53. That was one of my favorite childhood memories and now you cannot pay me to set foot on woke Disney anything.
The oldest person in my D&D group was (at the time) 30. As the DM I had a Yub Nub bit and no one at the table knew what I was talking about because they had only seen the Special Edition. I wept for humanity.
Kathleen Kennedy started this with the Last Jedi, then made it personal when they fired Gina Carano
The house of mouse is now the shack of the rat
Disney has been in panic mode since pre-pandemic days. Somebody just put them out of their misery already.
that is just to kind of a fate to do so after everythng
Knowing that pack of "minor-attracted-persons" is even the slightest bit unhappy - is a source of joy for the world.
that's right Disney and Bob Iger you better be afraid of Super Nintendo World and Epic Universe
And at some point in the future, Pokémon too.
Plus you would be blocking off a sound stage for a long time and making movies is more profitable for the sound stage.
well one place has the Original Startrek chair. You can sit in it.
Most movies don’t even have sets anymore, it’s all CGI.
I think the original commenter meant after they were done using said sets... But I guess the safety issue is still something to consider.
So the Imagineers Disney want have no Imagination
I can only imagine why they are in that job in the first place bro.
How’s that Reimagine Tomorrow muh’diversities working out for you, Disney?
I have a hard time believing any one of those four men know how to use a shovel.
Survival of the Fittest, SpongeBob! Survival of the Fittest.

whats with the picture of boardroom members wearing polished shoes carrying shovels/paddles pretending they're doing physical work?
Disney must be dropping bricks if even their photo ops miss the mark like their movie plots
It's a ground-breaking. That is what they all look like.
It's pretty sad it's taking Disney a decade to build that splash play area in Epcot
Imagineering has sunk so low even during the time I was working there in office capacity. It was weird. More people were in love with their status at a job than actually being an innovator in design
They canceled Jenkins and Feiges movie. Just reported
Disney needs to keep its mouth shut and stand on neutral ground.
Disney's main issue is that they have zero properties they haven't ruined and no one cares about anymore. Universal has many properties that they can build on that people still enjoy.
Disney has got to get help from colleges from the south and Midwest instead of relying on CA colleges
All the mistakes they made they are very desperate
Bruce Vaughn will last for how long as he get challenged and disobeyed more and more for the entitled people they filled Disney with?
Looking forward to the collapse 😆🍿
Geeze, I remember being at the Great Lakes Naval Training Command back in 1979 -- one TV channel almost incessantly advertised that Disney disco record. Strange, I have never heard any of the songs on that record other than the snippets on the ad. It was surreal enough that I can still remember "He's a macho, macho duck!" I figured this was an attempt to cash in on the much more popular -- and earlier -- "disco duck".
likely because universal doesn't typically announce new things until they have all the paperwork filed and construction companies ready to break ground so they can start building.
I guess they've learned socalism doesn't make you money.
This is a reminder that Mickey Mouse will become Public Domain in about *Ten More Months*
Still a current protected brand logo. Only Steamboat Willie Mickey will become public domain, but try to use it without violating Disney's corporate brand....nearly impossible. If you try, be prepared to spend millions defending your use.
Next we will see John Lasseter and Eisner comeback and save Disney!
But they never did pay for the ambulance. Even those stories prove they were using sub par crap that couldn't get the job done.
Using someone from Airbnb is asking for trouble

What can the fans do outside of these businesses that can help with getting profit, not just in Disney, Warner Bros, Universal Studios, Comcast and many others, but in our pockets without showing that we are fans of all of those medias?
What can we do to loosen some of the copyright laws?

desperate Disney denies damage done directly descending from dire dismal doctrine
*dire dismal _diversity_ doctrine
Too little, too late it seems.
If Disney continue to run off their bread & butter customers & going all in on D I E, coupled with Mario opening very soon at Universal
then that might just well be the beginning of the end for Disney.
I think it’s been changed to: *_“Gender Non-Conforming and Consenting Children…”_*
DIsney created this mess all by themselves, they can't expect anyone to feel sorry for them.
Watch the pixie dusters come outta the woodwork to call you two trolls while reassuring themselves that Disney has never been better financially and/or content-wise.
24:40 - It's called "choice paralysis" and it's a well-known phenomenon.

I heard it was really cool.
They replaced it with the dumb Simpsons ride. Nothing beats the trex eating the time machine just to be spit back out. Awesome sauce.
@@edo1497 They may replace The Simpsons ride soon according to certain reports, makes sense since the rights may be up for negotiation soon and Disney now controls them.
Disney don't make "magic" anymore. Like everything now it's all about making content in whatever form. Just as long as it feeds the bottom line.
He left.
Universal needs to do a Pokemon themed area soon.
Problem with that. Is that new Pokémon games come out every three years. Japan is at least lucky enough to wear. Pokémon can do mascot character things. But I don’t think they have a theme park in Japan. If your gonna do a theme Park based around a franchise that makes billions even in bad games, you need a good foundation.
@@gutsmasterson2488 Pokémon Safari Zone-based place could be neat. Maybe have some rides that take you through the different regions like those flying rides that tour different countries and locations. Maybe some rollercoasters based on Pokémon like Latios and Latias or Rayquaza could be fun too. Hell, maybe some areas built like famous structures in the Pokémon games could be neat as rides themselves, restaurants, and so on. There's a lot one can do, surely.
@Firerad Fieritis a Pokémon Snap attraction would be a hit. It practically makes itself
@@dandrawsit4915 Oh, yeah, that's a good one. Maybe more love can be shown to the side games in the various attractions. Perhaps something. Oooo, maybe some cues can be taken from PokePark for example.
As another idea, I have no idea how easy or plausible this would be, but having an area that lets you initiate virtual Pokémon battles that then have tangible effects in the physical sense such as lighting, heat, rumbling of one's seat, other noises, and so on could be a cool interactive experience. Hell, make them projections or holograms or something for a little extra pizazz.
There were rumors about that being a part of Epic Universe, but they might do Donkey Kong first after Mario.
I like that you are starting to see the words "ignoring fiduciary duties" everywhere Disney is mentioned in the comments. It's gettin spicy. They about court mess up. I imagine share holders are mad. Where's my money, Dsny? Huh? Where's my gorram money?
When it effects the bottom line things change real quick.
Used to go 4 times a year and will never go again. They just want to politically oppose families, so f them. I will spend my money elsewhere.
Cheap and boring is the logical conclusion when you put diversity and cultural Marxism in charge.
I just don't care about Disney anymore. The only reason I'm still here is for the trash fire and the entertainment I derive from it lmao
They're gonna need a bigger pooper scooper.
