Same with an agenda like putting an LGBT agenda, or a toxic aganeda, or a dangerous message and or trying to push something that is not okay by trying to indoctrinate children. Some of them were appreciative especially since it’s One Piece but a few just left it on the floor. I had to teach them that even if they don’t like it, say thank you and give it to someone else later. You don’t have to be rude about it.

I look at my childhood and I was with my parents on all their errands. Through them, I was learning to cook, do laundry, pay bills, shop for groceries, basic home budgeting, how to winterize the house and car, how change a tire and oil, getting a hobby...
Then I look at my younger cousins, no more than six years apart from me. They can't boil water among the other things I listed. They also can't drive, because mommy/daddy does everything. Congrats aunty/uncle, you stunted them. They're going to college in two years and they won't know how to function as an adult.

Isn’t the issue around the fact that studios in their infinite wisdom won’t make any merchandise even for their high performing kids shows, meaning they have zero way to make any money back from their investments?
Isn’t that like the entire point around making kids shows to begin with?
Their economics make zero sense really even without them targeting older audiences while having the art direction of a kids show as well.
The cherry on top is them not promoting their 10-25 million dollar investments depending on on how long their seasons are in any shape or form.
The industry’s been like this probably like the mid 2000’s. I seen nothing in stores for the popular franchises of the time for like anything. Besides Ben 10 and Teen Titans.

It's not just because youtube is good, it's because Hollywood is failing. People are no longer going to watch shit. So, if that's all they're offering, they're going to go elsewhere, and youtube has tons and tons of things to watch there. No streaming service can compete against individual people throwing content up. It's just not possible. And once people leave and find things they like watching, their chances of going back isn't likely. So, that's their fault. Their arrogance in thinking the people need them is killing their industry.

  • @Brush4000
    @Brush4000 2 дня назад +73

Normal kids just want entertainment, they don't have this sad need to support something to make other people feel special. A lot of this stuff is made for emotionally stunted young adults, not preteens or teens.
I don't think most people in entertainment are intelligent enough to know the worlds as changed. As Geeky said there were less options in the past, so it was easier for shows to have a decent audience. Now there are so many options it's going to be harder to have things that mass appeal. There are decades worth of entertainment to watch, plus foreign shows and movies are far more accessible today than in the past.
People expect shows to have easy mass appeal, and that's not the world we live in today.

I've said it to my friends and I'll say it here. Kids care not about agendas or politics. They want funny, cute or cool things, or a combination of those three things which equal fun. Violence is cool, wacky hijinx are funny, big eyes are cute. You can give them any agenda or moral lesson to kids and they'll take it as long as it goes with a fun product. Most of the recent cartoons produced in America have been praised by young adults, and they'll say it's great and empowering to see complex subjects addressed in the most boring shows ever. I'm sorry but shows like Infinity Train, The Owl House and Steven Universe may be popular among a certain crowd, but they pushed kids to watch anime instead.

Just in the past week we've watched Goof Troop, Jackie Chan Adventures, Yugioh (they prefer GX and 5Ds), Darkwing Duck, Xiaolin Showdown, Scooby Doo, SpongeBob, Time Squad, and Pokémon Johto.
There's decades of content. They could watch things till they have kids of their own and still find new stuff to watch. The past 15 odd years has been content made for the Hollywood Panderverse, not for what the average person wants to watch. Modern TV show - cost subscriptions, based off odd metrics regardless of how popular or more commonly unpopular a show is, works off a previous idea with no connection to the idea... essentially a skin suit.
Makes sense why the Indie boom is happening especially since like the old video game turned shows... they have a passion for what they are doing and are also promoting one another.
Like Red vs Blue in the early days.

I feel like the other thing that Hollywood tends to forget is that they no longer have a monopoly over the distribution of how the entertainment was delivered. Back in 70s, 80s, 90s and even up until late 20s Hollywood had a complete monopoly on this through Television, radio, and movies. Now with the rise of the internet, social media, and most importantly the maturing of smart phones, these have all spell an end for Hollywood’s domination of the distribution monopoly. There are countless ways for anyone to create, upload, and share the entertainment that they have created. I have seen the majority of these independent creators completely cut out the middleman and upload directly to RUclips.

    • @ByTheStorm

      1. If you mean syndication and that e/i crap? That’s the American government’s fault. It’s why the cable animated channels became so popular while their network counterparts either became shells of themselves or cancelled.
      2. Agreed. Most of the studios don’t really need a service. I bet most will go under and fold into either Netflix, Amazon or Disney.
      3. Also agreed. Though I’m seeing the conservative equivalent with things like the New Norm or that show about the woodshop guy, which sounds so lame as the liberal version. I still laugh whenever there’s this lack of self awareness about shows from left leaning creators being all preachy, though. On the toy front? There’s haven’t been consistent toys for anything since maybe 2005-07. Really feels like things coming to roost.
      4. I’ll add the point about how every cartoon has this incessant need to be ‘meta’. They can’t just be earnest or have heart, they have to from time to time have the characters written to speak self referentially and blurt out what they want the audience to feel instead of integrating it in the story itself.
      5. Redeeming monstrous villains. For people who decry fascism, plenty shows have the same plot beat where they have to handwave a villain’s abusive behavior and awful actions for arbitrary reasons. Comically to the absurd extreme with Steven Universe and Korra. There’s also an undercurrent of bootlicking wealthy antagonists or giving them lackluster punishments no matter how awful they are.
I dropped Netflix Castlevania because of it being anti religious (as if teenagers who just discovered atheism are writing it) while being poorly thought out and not fun to watch. That and the creators seem to have this fetish with their major raceswapped black characters all being slaves and focusing on that fact. Unable to work with the fantasy alternate universe they created that was infinitely more tolerant than the real world at the time.
And not having Annette being Isaac’s descendant.
I’m not the biggest advocate for organized religion, however? None of the points in either show seem that deep and given how rich the subject matter and time period they’ve had to work with, especially the Balkans and Eastern Europe in the 15th century? Or the French Revolution? It’s a joke.
Especially compared to Blue Eye Samurai, where they cared enough to use the time period to its greatest advantage.

They even sometimes use currently popular IPs like Inside Out 2 or The Amazing Digital Circus. TADC is the most troubling one because it's not meant for kids. Yet it hasn't stopped people like Lanky Box from making reaction videos to it. In the most recent episode there's a scene where one of the characters says the word "hell" multiple times. Lanky Box had to cut that entire scene out of the reaction video. He really shouldn't be doing reaction videos to the show if he has to cut out an entire scene because something that isn't meant for kids gets brought up.

There is one major downside to switching to sites like RUclips: clickbait rules there (and in RUclips Kids, clickbait's dominance is unshakeable). There is an extremely simple formula for getting children to click on and thus ratify a video, and it isn't to produce quality content. Go short-form, copy enough of somebody else's work to cause the algorithms to promote yours alongside the original, go with the weird, suggestive and gross because kids love to check all of that out, increase colour saturation and shorten the length of time between camera cuts to key into ways a developing brain can be trained into focusing on what you're showing it over anything else in the child's world... it's true that Hollywood isn't able to aim high enough to recapture their market, but they also aren't the ones aiming the lowest.

We also have a problem with all these companies producing media based on the input for a few loud mouth online groups who are in a very small echo chamber, the majority of society is not made up of these woke, social drones and companies keep thinking this is the entire of society and that is why they are failing.

  • @XJ43088

It's because indie creators can provide far better and more engaging storytelling than anything that Hollywood's been able to do for the past few years now. And it's not just indie animators that are able to do this, but indie game developers are capable of providing better experiences than AAA titles as well because the industry (both game industry and cartoon industry, and just most of the entertainment industry in general) is too cowardly to tell a compelling, deep story that kids can understand.
For example, Glitch Productions, here on RUclips, is by far my favorite indie entertainment cartoon company. Not only because their shows look gorgeous and the music is good and whatnot, but because their shows are good in general and the stories tied to those shows are thought-provoking, and that's what people care about. Not all the time, because there are cartoons and other forms of media and entertainment that are just purely silly and wacky, and that works, too. But as long as whatever they're putting out is ACTUALLY GOOD... that's all that people want. Kids deserve better than whatever Hollywood is giving out to them these days.

It's such a good show because it leaves details that you, as the viewer, have to pick up on and use your brain to put the puzzle pieces together.
*Spoilers below for the series for those who haven't watched it yet*
For a simple example, the fact that Uzi got the Absolute Solver from using N's saliva to heal her stab wound from N's tail in the very first episode is clever.
For a more detailed and complex example, there's the fact that JCJenson is a front or became a front for Cyn/The Absolute Solver for creating Disassembly Drones after the Elliott family was massacred, Earth was destroyed, and all humans were wiped out.
It's little details like that, along with its other various forms of foreshadowing that I love about the series.

These companies biggest mistake is pretending that these shows are for today's kids. shows today are being made for audiences that were kids in the late 90s and 2000s. Todays kids shows are literally filled with references from things from the 90s and 2000s. Kids will never understand these references and thats why they get canceled because these shows are being watched by the audience that were kids 20 years ago. the owl house had so many reference from old shows I wasn't even surprised it didn't gather enough kids audience and was being watch by people in college.

Please make a short of 'Faox Kneon'. I had a good laugh at that. XD
And we really surprised? Kids' TV is dead in the states because people refuse to give them what they both want and NEED. People pointed out how 'role model' characters have been made horribly and that kids didn't want them. Girls don't want mean, mannish looking 'strong girl bosses' that yell at everything and hate things. Boys don't want weak, simpering boy characters.
This ain't hard to figure out.

Honestly that a good thing. If Hollywood wasn’t treating animation like trash this wouldn’t never happen. Nickelodeon is a prime example since 2010 how not to run a platform.
Animation is obviously not welcome in HW so just let it go. They prove they don’t want it now they’re mad people are making better stuff on they’re own because we don’t need they’re dumb contracts and impossible standard for chum changing show how much we advance.
