Perhaps you should credit Shinya Takahashi, the General Manager of Nintendo EPD since 2015. After Iwata's passing, Takahashi is now the one mostly responsible for greenlighting and managing Nintendo's games. He also has a reputation for good project management within the company.
My theory is that they knew that the Wii U was failing so they ditched the console for the most part (Thus the lack of games) and started developing games for the Switch early. That and they took the ideas for the Wii U's games and just switched them over to the switch. This would explain how easy it was for them to port Mario Kart over and remake splatoon with a few changes.
yea i thought this too i think that is why we took until the end of the wii u to see zelda come out i think zelda was done sooner and they just wanted a good switch launch title because the wii u was failing i mean in no other time in history has nintendo had a console with not one zelda game until the very end of its life.
explain why the summer of 2018 was a drought, and why Yoshi and Animal Crossing were delayed then since they've been working on them since 2013 as you claim...
TerminalQuayzar switch is a gift from gaming gods for gamers who want actual fun games without loot boxes and micro transactions. Also away from the mindless console power war
I never got the Wii U, and I used to beg my parents for one for Christmas, but they bought me an Xbox.. I eventually had money to get it, but they announced the NX, and oh boy am I glad I saved my money for the Switch.
Me to Nintendo: Hey, you know how you took the 3D Mario series and returned it to its roots by making the beautiful, critically acclaimed and fan adored Super Mario Odyssey? Yeah. Now do Paper Mario.
Intelligent Systems has been putting out a new Paper Mario game about once every four years, to a T. I'm so hoping for a great release come 2020 or 2021.
I mean nobody could’ve predicted the pandemic. And the direct revealed some neat stuff, plus we still got at least 1 noteworthy game every month including third parties. So I haven’t been having any issues
@@luginess0 can’t say I agree. Mario maker 2, Luigi’s mansion 3, link’s awakening, astral chain, and honestly even SwSh were fun. Three Houses is a masterpiece that can easily last you like half a year. 2019 was perfectly fine
I honestly think that we're living in a Nintendo golden era, we just don't know it...yet. I guaran-fucking-tee you that 5 years from now people will look back to 2017-2018 and praise Nintendo for everything they put out. Whoever's reading this, enjoy the Switch for what it is because it won't be like this forever!
Arlo I just realized that in Odyssey when you beat the game, and go back to New Donk City. You get the letters M-A-R-I-O. Remove the m. A-R-I-O. Sure it's a capital I but I looks like an L.
This is one of the biggest benefits of having a hybrid system. We get all of Nintendo’s titles on one system. Also, I think the Switch development tools are much, much better than Wii U. That’s why we are getting Xenoblade Chronicles 2 this year despite almost everyone not believing them every time it was reconfirmed.
Spidrm0nky i think that they released most of their big hitters this year. I still think they will have good releases, but im doubtful that it will be monthly like this year
Yes, they have confirmed developing for the Switch is quite a bit easier than the Wii U. People probably don't even realize this, but the Switch's internal hardware is pretty significant in the sense that it is the first Nintendo home console(yes, i know it is a hybrid!) since the N64(!) to not use the PowerPC architecture. But to be fair, this continued use of the same architecture for years and years was also the reason we were able to get full backwards compatibility ie. the Wii could run all Gamecube games and the Wii U could run all Wii games. So it is a tradeoff, but obviously the idea behind the Switch was a fresh start on everything from the internal hardware, the name, the marketing, etc. This is a new Nintendo with a new CEO and a new way of thinking. In some ways it is more like the classic Nintendo of old in the 1980s and 90s where they dominated and kicked all sorts of ass with the NES and SNES. I just hope that like in the days of the NES and SNES, they also have that strong 3rd party support. No matter how great their 1st party software is(and boy is it great), they still need those great 3rd party games.
655321 Yea they released some amazing games this year, but there is no reason to think they won’t have a lot of titles next year as well. I don’t expect the quality to match this year, but I expect they will release just as many games. They aren’t going to Publish as many titles on 3DS as they have in previous years so the majority of the titles will release on Switch. Nintendo has a lot of internal studios (EAD, Retro, etc..) exclusive 2nd Party partners (Intelligent Systems, Next Level Games, HAL, etc...), and key Third Parties (Platinum, Koei Tecmo, etc...). We already know Yoshi, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Octopath Traveler, No More Heroes, etc... is scheduled for next year. We will get a few new announcements in the January Direct that will release this year. We also will likely get a couple more announcements at e3. There will be plenty of software for next year, though I don’t expect they can keep dropping GOAT type games like BoTW and Odyssey. Software should not be an issue, especially with the improved Dev Tools the Switch provides.
Don't talk trash about Wario Ware, Arlo. You know WW on Switch would be an amazing idea. The joy cons and portable mode are perfect for a fast paced part game like it.
I’m super proud of Nintendo. Although I️ think the reason the Switch did so well is because they crashed the Wii U for it to do so well. I️ think these games have probably been in development for the Wii U for awhile but then they just released most of them on the switch instead. I’m fine with them doing this, but I️ wouldn’t expect game releases for future years to be as good as 2017 for first Party Nintendo games. Although I️ foresee a smash port being the big release for next year to give them time to work on other large titles. Even if they release no games next year, there’s enough games on the switch to keep me occupied for a loooong time.
Nintendo is having a great first two years for the system, but in that same regard, will that detract from year 3 and 4 in terms of first or exclusive third parties? I don't think so but it isn't out of the question.
my issue with the system still don't know if those third party will come with its low power i cant' see to many games coming, its cool they got Doom and new Wolfenstein but that won't be enough to keep it at bay, really need to see stuff from EA, activision, bigger titles from ubisoft nothing with nintendo involved, etc.
The only downside is that games are going into 4k which is going to make them 100gb or bigger. Not even the current gen of Xbox or PS can handle that properly. Also 4k games only run at 4k on PC right now so most games are going to either be developed for performing down to consoles anyway and if a development team wants to work on a cheaper game I can see some third party development teams going for a solid 1080p game that can range up from there. The 4gb ram is the big issue with supporting games that other consoles can support. Everything else is solid. Besides the 32gb storage when 1tb isn't big enough anymore.
The Wonder Blunder We not reaching real 4k any time soon. Even on PC you need a 1080 to get solid 60 fps on 4k. A 1080 is likr 2x price of a console. Right now console 4k isn't even real 4k not even close.
Even though I haven't played them, releasing bundles of the new DK games and Bayonetta 1 & 2 seems like a good way to offer people new value and properly repackage games they haven't played before. Even though it's not Wii U specific, I would also love to see a Metroid Prime Trilogy HD collection for Switch. I'd pay $80 for that.
yeah but their is no guarantee that switch will get that third party support though, it probably be successful like Wii, but probably have lack luster library mostly filled with their own games, only few third party
So you said Nintendo is giving us big games that please fans...... Do you think maybe there's a chance that a GOOD Paper Mario game will come out for switch too??
Kimishima was the president of Nintendo of America during the Gamecube era, and North America was the only region in which the Gamecube did well, financially. I think you're right in saying there's a connection between that and Nintendo's new success now.
Did not know that. Glad to feel ensured for Nintendo's future now. Though one question, do you think pres. Satoru Iwata was a bad corporate machine based on his performance as acting president? I'm getting really curious and I don't know where to start to research.
Average Joe The switch is still Iwata's successor to the Wii U. Kimishima himself said that they were not changing Iwata's plans. How long that plan lasts, who knows.
And before being NOA's President he was CFO of the Pokémon Company from 2000 to 2002, that's when the 2nd Gen games were released and when Pokémon cemented itself as a top Nintendo IP.
It's kind of ironic that considering because of him, Nintendo has been through a lot of droughts and delays along with other nearly unforgivable stuff. I am glad he came up with the idea of the Switch. I almost feel I am playing Nintendo 64 and Gamecube cames AKA Hardcore fans' favorite consoles.
Shoot, I'd forgotten about that. They should really have that out by now, but to be fair, they never said when it was coming, unless I forgot that too.
The delays aren't happening because Nintendo is now being very careful with announcing release dates. They don't announce them unless they are extremely confident that they'll have it done by then. People got mad that Nintendo didn't even announce the Switch release date 6 months before launch and kept speculating during November that it indicated that release was nowhere close, but they don't understand how damaging announcing delays are among consumer responses, and how much excitement to hear that you don't have to wait much longer generates.
I bought a Switch about a week and a half before Super Mario Odyssey specifically for Odyssey. It was my system seller. Now that I've had my Switch for awhile, I'm dying to replay Mario Kart with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, some Breath of the Wild, and some Splatoon, but... My wallet... It's dead man. Nintendo is bleeding it dry, but in such a good way.
Lyseolia I pretty much decided that my Switch will be my indie game console. One game I've been thinking about picking up on the eShop is Shovel Night because I'm like, the only person in the world who hasn't played it.
To be honest I feel like this rapid fire of amazing games is gonna stop soon, mostly because Nintendo probably had all these games on their mind but because of the Wii U lack of sales they didn't want to spend so much time for such little effort, so when the switch was coming their like "you know all those games we wanted to do, let's do them" and I'm guessing after Yoshi 2018 things are gonna slow down a bit, not by a lot but slow down none the less. But who cares because after Kirby Star Allies comes out I'll never need another game again.
I wait for a Smash too, and after that Pokémon and Metroid will come. With Donkey Kong still waiting for its turn, I think the pace will be crazy until march 2019. And we will see then.
Well I imagine they will get a lot of 3rd party support this time around. So after 2018, maybe Nintendo won't be able to pump out polished great games every 2 month. But hey, good games takes time. By the way, I love these games no longer takes forever to play through. Don't really have 200hr to put in every games I want to try.
Every single time they said Xenoblade 2 was 2017, a friend and I said "fuck no, that's not happening. After Xenoblade X pissed us off, they need WAY more time than that to make it a proper sequel." ...It's November and the eShop on my newly acquired Switch says it right there: December 1st. 2017. This...this is real. This system is real. I may have bought Zelda on the Wii U, but it launched with it. Mario gets one of his best games ever this year. Inti Creates immediately redeems themselves after being partnered with Mighty No. 9 with two amazing downloadable games. Fire Emblem Warriors becomes better than Hyrule Warriors right out of the gate. Metroid Prime 4 and potentially Pokemon Gen 8 are going to seriously make a splash in the near future (please god, don't suck, Pokemon, I got annoyed at Sun so easily). Hopefully Square bothers to localize the Dragon Quest Heroes collection next year (don't talk about the frames with me, I played the Japanese demo just fine). I can't go on listing shit, I'd be going insane.
yea that's your opinion, and my opinion is that sun and moon is trash and that whole mega evolution and these so called "Ultra beasts" can fuck right off. It would have been fine if the mega evolutions were an actual evolution you gained at the Pokemons max level or a high level. but not this stone bullshit this ain't DIGIMON!
I hate Mega Evolution too, but Sun and Moon didn't introduce that mechanic. X and Y did. Sun and Moon had Alolan forms, which fit Pokemon's lore far better in my opinion. I kinda liked Ultra Beasts, they felt like aliens, but I get the dislike there as well.
This is probably the best launch year for a console, When you have a 10/10 Mario and Zelda, A big Open world JRPG (Xenoblade) A sequel to a very unique shooter (Splatoon), a new IP (Arms) and 2 great Wii U games, you know your doing something right
Arlo's RUclips Channel Drinking Game: take a shot every time Arlo uploads a video about the Nintendo Switch... but still manages to make it entertaining and not tiresome even though he's made like a hundred of them.
I'm totally hoping Nintendo has a direct in January. And hope we get more details Kirby Star Allies,Untitled Yoshi game, Untitled Fire Emblem game,Untitled Pokemon game (I think it's gen 8),Metroid Prime 4 and who knows if Nintendo will surprise us with more games? They r full of surprises! 😊 Edit:I watched this video 3 TIMES!
I'm positive it's generation 8. Especially with the announcement that US/UM is the last set of games (I'm assuming that includes spin offs as well) on the 3DS. I doubt we WON'T be seeing Generation 8 on the Switch. And right out of the gate for a first main series release? That'd be a seller, I should think. Let's hope we know more soon.
Can we have "The Death Of Droughts" for your RUclips channel?!?! Haha why oh why is there not a world where Arlo can make a new high quality video every day! (Ik it's asking for too much haha and your doing amazing Arlo just wanted to make a little joke haha keep up the amazing work Arlo!!😌 we all really appreciate you!!)
Assuming neither Pokémon nor Metroid makes 2018, that leaves us with the following games for next year: Kirby, Yoshi, Fire Emblem. I really hope that's not everything. Pikmin will come someday. Maybe.
Nah, I'm sure they'll announce more either later this year or early next year. They didn't announce Mario Odyssey until like March or April and released it in October. That shows there's plenty of time for announcements.
Fraxlevein I think a Mario Maker sequel/remake is possible, though it would need something to rev up excitement again- I guess being on switch might do it but I dunno.
Octopath Traveler and Shin Megami Tensei V and No More Heroes:Travis Strikes Back are probably going to debut next year as well. It's also notable that Retro Studios has kept quiet for so long, i think they have a brand new IP in the works, quite possibly the strong card of Nintendo for next E3. A port of Smash is inevitable as well, it's just a matter of when, rather than if. Next year ain't looking too shabby.
I just LOVE what Nintendo is doing for the Nintendo Switch. They really seem to be listening to everyone as to what they would want to see on this fantastic console. Now, with this change of pace, what’re the chances of a new F-Zero? Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door HD? How about a new Kirby Air Ride? We really need to wear sunglasses, because the Nintendo Switch’s future is looking BRIGHT!
I still think F-Zero won't be coming back. None of them (barring the first) have sold especially well. Thousand Year Door HD is for sure a bust as that game would not really benefit from it. A new Kirby Air Ride would be sweet.
However, we still need to tread carefully because Nintendo is also known gor how great they are back tracking. Remember the, voice chat fiasco and the recent youtuber copyright strikes? These kind of things could happen again and it would not be pretty.
well nintendo said that they plan on focusing on their lesser known titles for the next year, and pikmin 4 was confirmed back in 2015, so maybe its finally happening?
2017 was a great year, both for Nintendo and in general. After the long drag of 2016, I was not expecting the Switch to succeed at such a fast rate, it just didn't seem possible for poor old Nintendo, who was down and out after the floundering twilight years of the Wii U. And for a console to launch with such excellent software, and to keep up that blistering release schedule on a monthly basis, I had no idea that they had it in them! Now that most of the big name first-party games with release dates are out, and what we're left with is a bit light on details, like Yoshi, Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon, and Kirby (which seems closest to completion of the four), I think 2018 will be a bit more lax than 2017. However, after the Switch does well at the Holiday season (obviously, it has to), they're gonna rally up third parties to back them up while they work at a more relaxed pace. This way they can keep providing software by incorporating multiple companies into the system of maintaining a constant stream of Switch exclusive games. If I were Kimishima, I would localize Mother 3 so I could please the crowds (especially in America, where the Switch is on fire) and to maintain the momentum they've built where they release a new game every month - the game is already completed, all they have to do is port it and translate it. They could market it as a major release because they definitely know how badly people want it and are willing to pay for it. Think about it, Nintendo.
The Kengeki Goomba It's a pick your poison with this. If I love a game franchise that isn't well known, I'd rather have the fan base to full cancer than letting it die.
Love Xenoblade, I got it day 1 on Wii back in the day and was one of the rare JRPGS that got multiple playthroughs from me. X was pretty good too and had a great world to explore. So I say bring on Xenoblade 2, I'm very glad we won't have to wait 3 years for it.
If I had to guess 2018's line up: 1) Bayonetta 1+2 - HD collection type deal with probably a demo of Bayonetta 3? 2) Smash Bros 4.5 - This game will be the definitive version combining both the 3ds and wiiu stuff. All the DLC will be there and they will expand on this platform with a few new fighters. This game will be incompatible with the wiiu/3ds versions. You might still be able to use the 3ds as a controller at least 3) Metroid Prime 4 4) Mario Tennis/Party - Might be a full reboot of sorts for the party/tennis series. 5) Fire Emblem/Pokemon main series game - With the 3ds coughing up blood, this is the eventual next step. These 2 franchises are a yearly thing these days, so next year we will get these games. Fire Emblem will most likely be summer and Pokemon for Xmas. -Wish list- 1) Golden Sun 1-3 Remake for the switch 2) Starfox Zero Remake - WITH FIXED CONTROLS!!!!! 3) Custom Robo Revival - Same art style as the gamecube version 4) Tatsunoku vs Capcom 2 / Power Stone 3 - Damn it Capcom why you suck now? 5) Project X Zone 3 - Done with HQ ps3~ps4 SRW sprites.
Hey, someone else who remembers that Project X Zone exists! Bandai Namco apparently has some Switch-exclusive games in the works right now, so it could actually be happening. We’ll see.
Come on *2018!* Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Kirby.... and hopefully maybe Pikmin and enhanced Smash Bros port too! *2019?* ... Metroid, Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong? I'm Dreaming!
Animal Crossing is going to have a Mobile game unfortunately and it's looking as if they're planning to use that in place of the next Animal Crossing title. So Animal Crossing on a Console could be several years into the future sadly/
Yeah I know. My dad got my family an Xbox for christmas 2 years ago and hes played it for maybe a total of 5 hours and my brother and I have played it for 25 hours each. we have about 8 games and half of them are like 5 buck games from gamestop
Arlo, you consistently put out some of the most level headed and insightful videos about Nintendo's business strategies I've seen on the web. Not what I would initially expect from a blue monster, haha
Speaking of marketing, why have I not heard anything at all about the new Zelda BotW deal they are offering on Thanksgiving? Apparently, they are making an "Explorer's Edition" at the same $59.99 retail price, but it comes with a big guide and map and all. The fact that they are just offering this essentially for free is just to move even more of that game on Thanksgiving, and that with the already great deal of the Mario Odyssey bundle is going to be killer on Thanksgiving and black Friday.
Josh W Pretty Good, I've been getting new friends at school and things have been better. The only times I feel worried is caused by overthinking. If you're going through hard times, trust me things will get better, because they did for me.
WarioWare: TouchFun Story: Wario's in his computer and a pop-up appears saying "HEY! YOU WON A NEW PHONE!!1!" Wario jumps off his chair and screams. He clicks on the Pop-Up... A drone leaves a box on his house that breaks the roof and falls on Wario's head. Wario opens the box and turns the phone on. Wario is now full of excitement and... *GREEDINESS* He wants to make a game out of this and make cash out of it.
The Switch had a great first year(s). It was always going to be slow during a console gen transition year, but 2020 is rooooougggh when it comes to Nintendo news.
Dude just imagine... take all the games Nintendo has made since 2011.. all of those 3ds games..Wii and Wiiu games... and then slap that total on the SWITCH BABY! #2024!
4:54 Mario was ready early and did get extra time for polish, since at the january japanese event where they revealed some moves and gameplay, Koizumi said that the game was already "considerably advanced/pretty much done" (depending on your interpretation of japanese), and that they could have released a demo then, but that since the release date was so far ahead, they can't show much more. nintendoeverything.com/super-mario-odyssey-development-is-considerably-finished-various-tidbits/ (verified at watch?v=BlttUq4uGgQ&t=1600 ) So I do think they did delay internally, add buffers to "front-load" a bit the Switch's offerings. But they still probably streamlined the production of games and have a higher output than when they had split development (when EAD and SPD where separate).
You basically said everything that has been on my mind and more. Thank you for that because it makes me very happy in a way I can't explain very well. Especially about the way you'd like Nintendo to continue announcing their games. I thought they did it perfectly this year and that's why I am so suuuuper excited for January to come. I can't wait until (I hope) the January presentation. Directs are all right/fun but that presentation was amazing. Especially if they announce more features for the Switch, talk about online subscription and virtual console. It would feel more personal and like they truly want to explain and tell us about the new features and new games that are coming.
Okay, so I don't know why it took me so long to notice, but the hair on the right side of my head and ONLY the right side of my head is getting thinner. I have absolutely no idea why, and it's never been more obvious than against this background. MY DAD DIDN'T PREPARE ME FOR THIS.
hey arlo
Arlo 👍🏻
Arlo haha, looks funny
Arlo hey
arlo your going blueish gray!
I heard that Kimishima has actually been described as a friendly person despite his stern look.
Donkey Kong Fan haha, he does kinda look like a sweet old man.
I feel like this describes most Japanese men.
Really strange. My grandfather looks almost exactly like him and he's HARSH.
They probably have to say that. XD

Little put up of simple info on Kimishima for those who might care:
-Was President of Nintendo for America in 2002, and was president until Reggie took over in 06

No, they're trying to pretend that the console is the main function, but really the handheld is the main function.
Now the announcment of the Super Mario Movie makes more sendewww

I just got my switch yesterday and I honestly feel like I made the best purchase of my entire life
Santi Barrios ikr
I felt the same way LMAO
congrats!!!!! Welcome to the world of the kingdome-come..i mean the switch!!! I love mine, have over 20+ games and buying 10 new ones for christmas, All third party this time, I love my Switch!!

Pure gold right there.

Goddamn, the Switch has been out since 2014? It's time for a successor!
explain why the summer of 2018 was a drought, and why Yoshi and Animal Crossing were delayed then since they've been working on them since 2013 as you claim...
“no droughts”
god i wish 2020 didn’t exist
FreeFlynFalcon first thing I thought when I saw this in my recommended
Ironic how these videos get recommended at the worst time lmao
@Spaceman Alph oh wow you're so right, I'm not big fans of those franchises (though they're all amazing), so I had forgotten they had gotten delayed
My theory is that the switch is the gift from the Nintendo Gods after the Wii U tested our faith.
TerminalQuayzar only the worthy and faithful were bestowed this gift, truly the Wii U was a test of the utmost faith.
I mean I bought the Wii U (before it was discontinued might I add) so obviously the Nintendo gods are happy with me
TerminalQuayzar switch is a gift from gaming gods for gamers who want actual fun games without loot boxes and micro transactions. Also away from the mindless console power war

Me to Nintendo: Hey, you know how you took the 3D Mario series and returned it to its roots by making the beautiful, critically acclaimed and fan adored Super Mario Odyssey? Yeah. Now do Paper Mario.
I want that too. Let's be real though, that's at least 3 years away minimum.
Intelligent Systems has been putting out a new Paper Mario game about once every four years, to a T. I'm so hoping for a great release come 2020 or 2021.
V-Man 776 shush I can only handle so much amazing stuff
When Nintendo shows us a new Paper Mario it HAS to be a traditional RPG (or just not have that STUPID sticker/card mechanic) to me to buy it.
OH GOD DON'T LET THEM NEAR PAPER MARIO AGAIN.
“The birds are shining, the sun is singing…”
Stick Breightley I saw that too.
well, why not lol
I'm still laughing and I'm just now realizing he's still talking
Isn't it beautiful?
There’s ‘no ocean too high or mountain too deep’, to express how great this is XD
“the death of droughts and delay?” i’m here in 2020, and boy were we wrong 😔
I mean nobody could’ve predicted the pandemic. And the direct revealed some neat stuff, plus we still got at least 1 noteworthy game every month including third parties. So I haven’t been having any issues
@@IceBlueLugia even before that though, 2019 was boring
@@luginess0 can’t say I agree. Mario maker 2, Luigi’s mansion 3, link’s awakening, astral chain, and honestly even SwSh were fun. Three Houses is a masterpiece that can easily last you like half a year. 2019 was perfectly fine
This did not age well.
true dat
I was about to say the same thing
I honestly think that we're living in a Nintendo golden era, we just don't know it...yet. I guaran-fucking-tee you that 5 years from now people will look back to 2017-2018 and praise Nintendo for everything they put out. Whoever's reading this, enjoy the Switch for what it is because it won't be like this forever!
8-bit Pepe Waiting for Sony fanboys to start a fight in the comments
8-bit Pepe then the 80s better be the platinum age.
TheWeeklyGamer TWGamer Sony Fanboy here, both companies are having fantastic years. As someone that owns a PS4 and switch I couldn't be happier

I think you'll find that the medical term is Arlopecia.
The Arlo Fan Community Love the avatar!
The Arlo Fan Community bald arlo is a scary thought. That would be horifying like a plucked chicken
Even if there's no fur left on his body, we will still love him
No, but Arlo does
Arlo I just realized that in Odyssey when you beat the game, and go back to New Donk City. You get the letters M-A-R-I-O. Remove the m. A-R-I-O. Sure it's a capital I but I looks like an L.
Sight Seeker - I actually did that a while back!
Something tells me that droughts didn’t end
This is one of the biggest benefits of having a hybrid system. We get all of Nintendo’s titles on one system.
Also, I think the Switch development tools are much, much better than Wii U. That’s why we are getting Xenoblade Chronicles 2 this year despite almost everyone not believing them every time it was reconfirmed.
Spidrm0nky i think that they released most of their big hitters this year. I still think they will have good releases, but im doubtful that it will be monthly like this year
XC2 was made with the XCX engine so that's also a huge factor
I just want Kid Icarus
Don't talk trash about Wario Ware, Arlo. You know WW on Switch would be an amazing idea. The joy cons and portable mode are perfect for a fast paced part game like it.
LREHAnimation it would be cool to have one, but not as a major release, maybe to pad out the number of releases
They're not bad, they would just be incredibly underwhelming as a "major" title.
Fuck WarioWare, I want another Wario Land!
i rather play wario land, it was only on shitty virtual boy, why not switch version and in colour
kyotheman69 what about wario land shake it?
“The birds are shining and the sun is singing” -Arlo 2017
Besides the 32gb storage when 1tb isn't big enough anymore.
ohh the especial snowflake emerges
I don’t know about major third party games however the indie game library is growing faster than I ever anticipated
The Wonder Blunder We not reaching real 4k any time soon. Even on PC you need a 1080 to get solid 60 fps on 4k. A 1080 is likr 2x price of a console. Right now console 4k isn't even real 4k not even close.
Considering the mario world, the birds could very well be shining and the sun could very well be singing
Shining birds are some of the most annoying moons to get.
I doubt it. The sun in Mario games is usually PISSED THE FUCK OFF.
Icalasari The Birds with Power Moons are shining
I really hope more WiiU games get ports tho, I really think Wonderful 101 and DK tropical Freeze deserves a second chance
And xenoblade and xenoblade x but that's just me being a fanboy wanting it on EVERY NINTENDO SYSTEM
The Kengeki Goomba Sure, why not. Bundle releases can be next year's Deluxe games.
TF should get a second chance? In terms of sales I see your point, but seems like everybody really liked that game.
Same. I hope Xenoblade X gets a second life as well, having that game portable would be a dream come true
Nintendo is finally becoming the company we all knew they could be.
yeah but their is no guarantee that switch will get that third party support though, it probably be successful like Wii, but probably have lack luster library mostly filled with their own games, only few third party
kyotheman69 But it's already happening
kyotheman69 idk you man but Nearly almost all 3DS developers are already making games on the switch.
And we all know how awesome the 3DS library is.
kyotheman69 if they can get doom running on it then 3rd parties have no excuse not to put games on it.
DutchPotato For the most part. I just wish they wouldn't copyright claim all of my videos lol.

oh no
lmao
This poor man lol
So you said Nintendo is giving us big games that please fans......
Do you think maybe there's a chance that a GOOD Paper Mario game will come out for switch too??
I really hope so, but I’m not getting my hopes up.
Oh what i would do for a return to the OG and TTYD style
I know..
ruclips.net/video/5Y4hP-OoWiU/видео.html
I wouldn't even mind a super paper mario style game
Kimishima was the president of Nintendo of America during the Gamecube era, and North America was the only region in which the Gamecube did well, financially. I think you're right in saying there's a connection between that and Nintendo's new success now.
Did not know that. Glad to feel ensured for Nintendo's future now.
Though one question, do you think pres. Satoru Iwata was a bad corporate machine based on his performance as acting president? I'm getting really curious and I don't know where to start to research.
Thanks for the reply. May his service will be remembered forever.
If only iwata saw the success of the switch
yotam braunshtein He is. He’s apart of every system
yotam braunshtein He's watching down from Heaven.
Noooo... stop making me sad... everytime I beat a game and Iwata is in the credits I start to be sad...
yotam braunshtein he is in our hearts
It's kind of ironic that considering because of him, Nintendo has been through a lot of droughts and delays along with other nearly unforgivable stuff.
I am glad he came up with the idea of the Switch. I almost feel I am playing Nintendo 64 and Gamecube cames AKA Hardcore fans' favorite consoles.
I love all of the games for the switch, and I have no complaints. I just can't wait until the virtual console.
Lucas Pereira i have a few complaints but i still love it
+Lucas Pereira
If it gets VC...
Shoot, I'd forgotten about that. They should really have that out by now, but to be fair, they never said when it was coming, unless I forgot that too.
Globin347 that's the point. They have never even said it is coming, let alone when.
Salamander Pants they said it will come out when the Online Paid service gets launched
This hasn't aged well
I bought a Switch about a week and a half before Super Mario Odyssey specifically for Odyssey. It was my system seller. Now that I've had my Switch for awhile, I'm dying to replay Mario Kart with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, some Breath of the Wild, and some Splatoon, but... My wallet... It's dead man. Nintendo is bleeding it dry, but in such a good way.
slymario2416 when metroid prime 4 was announced was when I got mine. I need my metroid fix.
Agreed. Not only is the Switch raping my wallet, but the holidays are coming, and I just bought an Xbox One X. Bye bye disposable income :(
Lyseolia I pretty much decided that my Switch will be my indie game console. One game I've been thinking about picking up on the eShop is Shovel Night because I'm like, the only person in the world who hasn't played it.
Devan Weathers Hate to disappoint, but I'm not actually a Metroid fan :P
digipimp75 Oh man, I would've just bought an Xbox One S or a PS4 Pro. But to each their own. What do you think of the X so far?
To be honest I feel like this rapid fire of amazing games is gonna stop soon, mostly because Nintendo probably had all these games on their mind but because of the Wii U lack of sales they didn't want to spend so much time for such little effort, so when the switch was coming their like "you know all those games we wanted to do, let's do them" and I'm guessing after Yoshi 2018 things are gonna slow down a bit, not by a lot but slow down none the less. But who cares because after Kirby Star Allies comes out I'll never need another game again.
Good point
I wait for a Smash too, and after that Pokémon and Metroid will come. With Donkey Kong still waiting for its turn, I think the pace will be crazy until march 2019. And we will see then.
....Except until the next Kirby game that is. ^^
After Xenoblade X pissed us off, they need WAY more time than that to make it a proper sequel."
...It's November and the eShop on my newly acquired Switch says it right there: December 1st.
UltimaKeyMaster pokemon sun and moon is one of the worst generation i ever saw
Cless why?
I rather have a platinum remake on the switch.
yea that's your opinion, and my opinion is that sun and moon is trash and that whole mega evolution and these so called "Ultra beasts" can fuck right off.

"Maybe Yoshi will actually release in 2018" oh Arlo how naive you were in late 2017
He was still right. Releasing it spring 2019 is good enough
This is probably the best launch year for a console, When you have a 10/10 Mario and Zelda, A big Open world JRPG (Xenoblade) A sequel to a very unique shooter (Splatoon), a new IP (Arms) and 2 great Wii U games, you know your doing something right

Gear The Mad Gamer,Finally someone agrees with me!🙌
Nintendo Switch need gen 8
Mason Todd, Pokemon Generation 8 will make the Nintendo Switch sell millions!👌
Please, please give us a new F-Zero!!

Dang this guy is awesome, a couple weeks ago I started watching him . And I LOVE THESE VIDEOS.
Assuming neither Pokémon nor Metroid makes 2018, that leaves us with the following games for next year:
Kirby, Yoshi, Fire Emblem.
I really hope that's not everything. Pikmin will come someday. Maybe.
Nah, I'm sure they'll announce more either later this year or early next year. They didn't announce Mario Odyssey until like March or April and released it in October. That shows there's plenty of time for announcements.
I would bet for Smash Bros and Donkey Kong (even if it is a Tropical Freeze port).
Fraxlevein I think a Mario Maker sequel/remake is possible, though it would need something to rev up excitement again- I guess being on switch might do it but I dunno.
LegoSquirrel Metroid or Zelda Maker...
Good points, but I like to stay optimistic. :)
However, we still need to tread carefully because Nintendo is also known gor how great they are back tracking.
Remember the, voice chat fiasco and the recent youtuber copyright strikes? These kind of things could happen again and it would not be pretty.
Victor Diaz
I would looooooooooveeeeeeeee if Nintendo made an deal with Microsoft, in order to get some old Rare titles.
Zebure 01 Especially with Phill Spencer wanting to possibly collaborate.
Honestly, I am just hoping Nintendo gives some of their smaller franchises a go in order to maintain a healthy pace, such as F-Zero and Custom Robo.
RespawningJesus With the recent success of Return Of Samus, hopefully they'll consider it with these franchises.
well nintendo said that they plan on focusing on their lesser known titles for the next year, and pikmin 4 was confirmed back in 2015, so maybe its finally happening?
ThatOneBuizel and I hope for punch out 2 and kid icurus sequel
holy shit dude custom robo switch would be the tits i was thinking the same thing
RespawningJesus I want another game like Kid Icarus: Uprising. Also another Luigi’s Mansion game.
I'm celebrating my birthday by eating doritos, drinking some chocolate mile, and watching Arlo! :)

1:37 arlo accidentally predicting 2018-2019
I feel like them announcing that Mother 3 being released worldwide would tie in with the release of the Switch's Virtual Console
King Koleyolis III I've already played mother 3 though. Id probably only buy in if there was a new game announced, or it was a substantial remake.
I honestly wish xenoblade had more fans, but at the same time, the fanbase could go to cancer from the fan service characters
The Kengeki Goomba It's so underrated :(
brennan weaver yeah :(
The Kengeki Goomba It's a pick your poison with this.
So I say bring on Xenoblade 2, I'm very glad we won't have to wait 3 years for it.
i wanna buy xenoblade 2 but i'm just not interested in jrpgs
If I had to guess 2018's line up:
1) Bayonetta 1+2 - HD collection type deal with probably a demo of Bayonetta 3?
2) Smash Bros 4.5 - This game will be the definitive version combining both the 3ds and wiiu stuff. All the DLC will be there and they will expand on this platform with a few new fighters. This game will be incompatible with the wiiu/3ds versions. You might still be able to use the 3ds as a controller at least
3) Metroid Prime 4
4) Mario Tennis/Party - Might be a full reboot of sorts for the party/tennis series.
5) Fire Emblem/Pokemon main series game - With the 3ds coughing up blood, this is the eventual next step. These 2 franchises are a yearly thing these days, so next year we will get these games. Fire Emblem will most likely be summer and Pokemon for Xmas.
-Wish list-
1) Golden Sun 1-3 Remake for the switch
2) Starfox Zero Remake - WITH FIXED CONTROLS!!!!!
3) Custom Robo Revival - Same art style as the gamecube version
4) Tatsunoku vs Capcom 2 / Power Stone 3 - Damn it Capcom why you suck now?
5) Project X Zone 3 - Done with HQ ps3~ps4 SRW sprites.
Prime 4's probably going to be 2019
Hey, someone else who remembers that Project X Zone exists! Bandai Namco apparently has some Switch-exclusive games in the works right now, so it could actually be happening. We’ll see.
RockmanV I guess you Called it except metroid
It’s so weird to go back to the past, experiencing an Arlo who was excited for Prime 4
"The birds are shining, the sun is singing..."
Arlotale when?
What does Arlo mean when he says "blue ocean games" at 1:46? I don't think I've ever heard that term before.

Thanks!
Remember when people said the Switch has no games?
Warren Valion ikr? :)
Most are on the e shop
Come on *2018!* Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Kirby.... and hopefully maybe Pikmin and enhanced Smash Bros port too!
*2019?* ... Metroid, Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong? I'm Dreaming!
Animal Crossing is going to have a Mobile game unfortunately and it's looking as if they're planning to use that in place of the next Animal Crossing title. So Animal Crossing on a Console could be several years into the future sadly/
Why not a new wario ware
2CAN bc that game is basically dead and unknown now
Donkey Kong 2018!!!
I need Zelda hd remakes
It's funny how the droughts became so much worse (first half on 2018 AND first half of 2019 were terrible)

#XboxHasNoGames
Yeah I know. My dad got my family an Xbox for christmas 2 years ago and hes played it for maybe a total of 5 hours and my brother and I have played it for 25 hours each. we have about 8 games and half of them are like 5 buck games from gamestop
You're annoying as fuck
What's with you and Xbox hate every where
My god your every where. I do agree though, ive not cared about xbox exclusives for the 8 years since i got my 360 as a 9 year old

Arlo, you consistently put out some of the most level headed and insightful videos about Nintendo's business strategies I've seen on the web. Not what I would initially expect from a blue monster, haha
It’s crazy how long ago they told us Metroid Prime 4 was in development
And we still know absolutely NOTHING about it WHATSOEVER 10 months after THAT comment🥲
@@bartowo Yep
☹️
Speaking of marketing, why have I not heard anything at all about the new Zelda BotW deal they are offering on Thanksgiving? Apparently, they are making an "Explorer's Edition" at the same $59.99 retail price, but it comes with a big guide and map and all. The fact that they are just offering this essentially for free is just to move even more of that game on Thanksgiving, and that with the already great deal of the Mario Odyssey bundle is going to be killer on Thanksgiving and black Friday.
The birds are shining the sun is singing
Isn't beautiful?
Hello how is your day
Good yours?
Bad
Josh W Pretty Good, I've been getting new friends at school and things have been better. The only times I feel worried is caused by overthinking. If you're going through hard times, trust me things will get better, because they did for me.
Pretty good thanks
I'm doing pretty great and I hope you're having a good day as well!
Great reflections, Arlo, as always.
Love how Arlo says ‘lunch’ instead of launch. Sooooo cute!!!!! ❤️

and then Yoshi Crafted World and Fire Emblem Three Houses we’re delayed....
FUUUUUUUUUU
2017: Wow theres so many new games!!!
2020: please just give us a single new game
Thanks for the good vids, Arlo!
Arlo, you are an awesome muppet and youtuber. Thanks for entertaining me with your amazing videos.
Don't jinx it fuzz ball.
All though I would not mind a new Wario Ware game. Still think that would be a great choice for Nintendo's next mobile game.
Ken Krumbach OMG I need a new WarioWare!
OK, jesus dude! Calm down
WarioWare:
TouchFun
Story:
Wario's in his computer and a pop-up appears saying "HEY! YOU WON A NEW PHONE!!1!"
Wario jumps off his chair and screams. He clicks on the Pop-Up...
A drone leaves a box on his house that breaks the roof and falls on Wario's head.
Wario opens the box and turns the phone on.
Wario is now full of excitement and... *GREEDINESS*
He wants to make a game out of this and make cash out of it.

The only drought to do with the Switch is the wallet drought.
"The birds are shining the sun is singing" - ARLO (2017)
The reason I love ARLO
The Switch had a great first year(s).
It was always going to be slow during a console gen transition year, but 2020 is rooooougggh when it comes to Nintendo news.
The birds are shining....Falco?!
Dude just imagine... take all the games Nintendo has made since 2011.. all of those 3ds games..Wii and Wiiu games... and then slap that total on the SWITCH BABY! #2024!
Maybe they've collected all the dragon balls
4:54 Mario was ready early and did get extra time for polish, since at the january japanese event where they revealed some moves and gameplay, Koizumi said that the game was already "considerably advanced/pretty much done" (depending on your interpretation of japanese), and that they could have released a demo then, but that since the release date was so far ahead, they can't show much more.

So I do think they did delay internally, add buffers to "front-load" a bit the Switch's offerings.
So where exactly did you get that giant blue puppet
Samirang he is the puppet
