He means that the original game was named after the console it released on, the Nintendo 64. This didn't stop them from re-releasing it on another console, the Nintendo DS, and they even kept the 64 in the title. (What else would you call it anyway?) This slightly invalidates the argument that they wouldn't port Smash 4 Wii U/3DS to the switch because it contains the name of its' release console in the title.
If they don't make a new Mario Maker or port the Wii U one, they're basically shooting themselves in the foot. It was a system seller for a lot of people, and would have drastically changed the life of the Wii U if it had released much earlier.
Because phones can connect to switch, I think the Nintendo switch app can double as a gamepad-type-thing. For splatoon and Mario maker SPECIFICALLY. It should not play the same thing on the tv for ANY GAME. Only as an add on, for maps and Mario maker etc.
How about a legend of Zelda remake bundle with Wind Waker HD, Twilight princess HD, and maybe even a Skyward Sword HD? 2 old ports and a new LoZ remake alongside it would sell really well in my opinion, especially considering how many new Zelda fans there are thanks to Breath of the Wild.
TheGameCreator13 yeah it wouldn't be cheap. But surely wind walker and twilight princess would be half the price considering the effort it would take to do it.
Of couse a sequel would be possible, more art designs, sprite editor, more possible combinations, a good way too search for levels, Including art styles from other games like Donkey Kong or Yoshis Island.... There are plenty of things that would make Mario Maker too Mario Maker 2
Sprite editor is way too advanced for Nintendo. They like to keep it simple Of course art designs would be cool, and also assets that didn't make it into the first game, like slopes, those corner objects of SMW that let you run up on walls and more enemies
i know sprite editor is more complex than the things included at the time, but i think it could be possible, the bigger problem could be, that nintendo wants to be kidsfriendly, so the option for people to make sprites looking like cocks is a problem. I just would like more complex things in Mario Maker, but sadly that will not happen.
Honestly a game I'd like from Nintendo is New Super Mario Bros: All Stars. It could have 64, Sunshine, Wii, Galaxy 1 or 2, U, or 3D World. The problem would be choosing which ones. Personally, I'd go with 64, Sunshine, Galaxy 2 (it wouldn't really need Galaxy 1, but it'd be weird just to include the sequel) and 3D World. I'd avoid including the 2D titles because they are kind of trite at this point and they've already done a 2D All Stars twice. It'd be really cool to have a 3D collection like that without having to rely on just porting 3D world while giving everyone the satisfaction of having all the previous main 3D Mario games on one cartridge or download. I think it'd do really well for 2018 or 2019 to fill in a Mario gap without having to make new games.
A “New Super Mario Allstars” actually sounds better. I’d be surprised if Nintendo did something to graphically improve on 64-Galaxy2-we could end up a port with bumped up resolutions and nothing else. But the 2D games are the kind that people probably wouldn’t pick up individually anymore, and I would like to see them sharpen up NSMB 1 & 2, and Wii for the Switch.
Call me crazy, but a remake of Wii Sports Resort would be really fun. They could add a ton of new games, re-do the visuals, and more! I'd even be fine if it was a totally new Nintendo Sports game. They could call it "Switch Sports Resort" or something. They could have new and returning games, and expand Wuhu Island as well!
Definetly! It was one of the key character giving games for the Wii. Getting this on the Switch would make so much more people have an interest in the Hardware and its unqiue controls... It is so much more appealing than the switch tech demo we got for release. Doing Sports resort switch is mandatory! Lets go Nintendo
Ggteddf1 - aside from the fact that it took forever to populate the store with my favorite games, Virtual Console was probably my favorite feature of both the Wii and the Wuu... so I’m super disappointed it doesn’t look like the Switch is getting it, at least any time soon :(
How Super mario maker 2 could work: -Analog stick to move hand across the screen. Button, maybe X or something to pull up a grid menu of all the assets, you select one with a and then the menu leaves and you can place the objects around using a; they're always stuck to the hand until you press the menu button again, it drops and then press it again to open the menu once more. -Shaking could be another button control, don't know what. Maybe the "d-pad" could cycle through, click the right button for next option, left for previous. -and up and down could act as a quick select, have two items selected and it auto equips them, or they could be a cycle through of all assets, going from left to right. -All other controls would be the same New "party mode" -You select a time limit, e.x. Five, ten, or 15 minutes to make a level, the number of level players, and perhaps a co-op or vs mode -The creator undocks it, and makes it in undocked, either with buttons or like it was on WiiU, maybe modified since there isn't a stylus. -Once the timer runs out, the maker tests the level to see if it's possible, and if it is, dock the switch. If Co-Op was chosen, everyone gets a joycon and they NSMBWii style play the level all as colored toads (4 players only). If Vs was chosen one player gets a joycon and gets 1 life to beat the level. If they die, they pass the controller to the next player and so on; repeat once the last person goes. And for fun, new assets: -Slopes -Collectibles (star coins) -Placable water and lava; works like semisolid platforms -Fire flower can be shook to get all power ups in that game; goes back to flower if theme changes; make the costumes in all versions and they stay 8-bit.
Your videos are always so entertaining while still bringing up really good points, Arlo! I keep coming back to rewatch a lot of your videos precisely because of this, something I rarely do with other youtubers. Keep it up, my blue friend!
I played it. If you were a fan of the original then I would definitely recommend it. Just don't expect to be in your Skell in the first 10 hours unless you completely rush it.
Craig Prime but now that you said that, they know that we know that they know that we know they are going to do it so now they wont do it... but now that i said this they will do it... I'm confused...
yeah, like never produce enough special editions so these scumfucks on ebay can sell them for tenfold. I love Nintendo, but they make so many mistakes.
The Switch took almost every game that made the Wii U unique and now go count how many exclusives the Wii U has, and count how many you actually like. You see what I’m talking about?
Or port the Radiant games to the Switch in an HD collection... a lot more work but not as much work as making a game from scratch and those games were quite popular for the series (which wasn't popular back then)
I love watching this in late 2018 seeing what he got right and wrong. We got an all new Smash. Tropical freeze, Hyrule warriors, Yoshi, treasure tracker, and Bayonetta were all realeased too.
As a Wii U and Switch owner I'm not pissed off at all. For example I'm excited for Pokken cause I don't own it for Wii U but even games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe I will eventully buy just not for the full price. And I'm also excited for people who were claiming the Wii U had no games thinking "hmmm... the Wii U was an awesome console after all"
Wasn't really an awesome console. Those games didn't come out until the console was getting outfitted for it's coffin. Those few gems on it are awesome but not enough to save a console that was dead on arrival and had a dry spell for a year.
The Wii U was great and I still prefer it to the Switch (at least till the Switch gets more games). The two screen thing was confusing to most people but some of us took to it fast and it could really enhance the experience if the developers took advantage of it.
Yes, we do. But we refer to it otherwise since Smash 3DS and Wii U are practically the same game. Why else would Sakurai try to keep the rosters the same?
This is a surreal watch in 2021. -SSB Wii U: Successor instead of port (mostly CORRECT) -Tropical Freeze: Port plus Funky mode (CORRECT) -3D World: Coming very soon with relatively meaty extra content (basically CORRECT) -Xenoblade X: Nothing announced, but Xenoblade 1 was remastered (mostly CORRECT) -Pikmin 3: Port + a few extra features (CORRECT, except timeline) -Woolly World: No port (CORRECT) -Hyrule Warriors: Port AND sequel released (WRONG) -Mario Maker: Sequel (CORRECT, except timeline) -Bayonetta 2: Port (CORRECT) -Wonderful 101: Port (CORRECT, mostly) -Captain Toad: Port, no sequel ("probably not" turned out incorrect) -Rainbow Curse: No port (CORRECT) -Color Splash: Sequel (his preference was correct) -Star Fox Zero: Nothing (basically CORRECT) Overall, Arlo seems to have mostly nailed it - the only real wrong things (as of Feb 9 2021) were things he thought WOULDN'T happen.
Costa Tzoytzoyrakos they have remade/ported oot, mm, ww, tp, and botw i think zelda has had enough lol. there are 3 consoles + pc you can play windwaker on i think thats enough for now
xD Thats true actually. Your right we can just play it on the other consoles. I didnt ONLY want Winwaker though. Just used it as an example. But yeah your right.
Guys, I'd REALLY love to see Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Hyrule Warriors on Switch. Also, a port of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE would be great too. Come on guys, we can MAKE this happen.
Jake The Snoop (Evan) A sequel to Yoshi's Story would be great, but it would have to be much more difficult. The original was a great concept, a 2D platformer collectathon at a time when everybody was going full 3D but it was crippled by its short length and lacking difficulty
Segatendo1985 Easy? Mostly true that it was easy, but I have four words. THAT. STUPID. NIGHTMARE. FISH. But seriously, I don't think you should think that critically of a game based on its difficulty or length. For difficulty, Kirby is always easy, yet still has amazing quality. For length, some of the best games ever, like Super Metroid, are short. Both of those things are flaws, but neither are serious. It's all about the enjoyment.
Great video Arlo! You're my favorite muppet! 🙊 I think touch screen-centric Wii U games could totally work when docked the Switch! The joycons split are essentially the same as Wii Remote and nunchuck, and curser control is almost just as responsive as touch screen controls in my opinion.
*Here's the complete list of Arlo's predictions and how they went as of November 2023* Smash 4 Arlo: Unlikely due to the name "For Wii U" working on Nintendo Switch. Truth: Didn't happen. Got a sequel instead in Dec. 2018 Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Arlo: Not sure but could easily happen. Truth: Got ported in May 2018 with Funky Mode and with a higher price tag. Super Mario 3D World Arlo: Unlikely but won't happen for a few years. A sequel is more likely though. Truth: Got ported in Feb. 2021 as part of Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary, with a new experimental campaign called "Bowser's Fury". Xenoblade Chronicles X Arlo: Unlikely unless Xenoblade Chronicles 2 sells well. Truth: Didn't get ported. However, Monolith Soft wants to do it but can't due to budget issues. They have instead remastered Xenoblade Chronicles 1 in May 2020 as part of Xenoblade Chronicles 10th Anniversary and gave it a new campaign based on the cut content from it. They did also do Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in July 2022. Pikmin 3 Arlo: Gotta happen before Pikmin 4, so Spring 2018 is most likely it. Truth: Got ported with new content in Oct. 2020. Pikmin 4 wasn't released until July 2023... Yoshi's Woolly World Arlo: Won't happen due to getting ported to Nintendo 3DS in Feb. 2017 and getting a sequel in the future for Nintendo Switch. Truth: Arlo's prediction was right. The game hasn't been ported to Nintendo Switch yet. Hyrule Warriors Arlo: Won't happen due to it getting ported to Nintendo 3DS in March 2016 and isn't important enough to get ported twice. Truth: Did get ported during Spring 2018 with all DLC included and with new Zelda: Breath of the Wild Costumes. It's important enough for Koei Tecmo, apperently! Super Mario Maker Arlo: Will get a sequel to Nintendo Switch and announced at E3 2018. Truth: Got a sequel announced at Nintendo Direct 13.2.2019 and released in June 2019. As for the controls, they went with Stick Controls for TV Mode. Bayonetta 2 Arlo: It's a perfect niche title for the Switch's perfect audience. It's just a matter of time and can happen at any point really. If the port does well, we could get a sequel down the road. Truth: Got ported together with the first game in Feb. 2018 as a tie-in to the Bayonetta 3 announcement. Hoewever, Bayonetta 3 wouldn't release until Oct. 2022... The Wonderful 101 Arlo: Unsure what to do with it. Truth: Nintendo didn't really care for it, so they let PlatinumGames do the publishing themselves as long they got the money. Thanks to a controversial Kickstarter in Feb. 2020 and Nintendo's blessing, it got ported to Nintendo Switch, PC and PS4 later during that Spring. Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush Arlo: Won't happen due to the heavy use of the Wii U Gamepad. Truth: Arlo's prediction was correct. The game hasn't been ported to Nintendo Switch yet. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Arlo: Won't happen due to the heavy use of the Wii U Gamepad, and a sequel is more likely anyway. Truth: Got ported to both Nintendo Switch AND Nintendo 3DS in July 2018. They replaced the Wii U Gamepad with Gyroscope on the Switch and with the touch screen on the 3DS. Paper Mario: Color Splash Arlo: They should if they want this new style of Paper Mario to succeed. Fix the battle system and the game will be good. Truth: Didn't happen. Got a sequel instead. Star Fox Zero Arlo: It's possible, but they should make a new game instead. Truth: Didn't happen and a new Star Fox game hasn't happened yet. The closest to that is Star Fox 2 on SNES Classic during Fall 2017 and Star Fox content in Starlink: Battle For Atlas on Nintendo Switch in Oct. 2017. Overall, you stink at this Arlo. One huge game you forgot was New Super Mario Bros. U, which was ported over in Jan. 2019 and became a huge hit. As for my most wanted, that's probably Yoshi's Woolly World with Xenoblade Chronicles X as a close second. Both deserves a second chance on Nintendo Switch! Also, that Arlopalooza "Update" was more fitting for this video than the Splatoon 2 review tbh.
If I recall, Miyamoto did say after Colour Splash realised that he wanted to do something "different" to the PM series than what we currently saw so far.
“Personally, I don’t give much thought to how we are leaving old methods behind in any series, not just Paper Mario. I always prioritize thinking about how we can build new methods and new elements. Of course, there were some series where we have not made big changes to the systems, but sometimes that’s because we feel as though these systems haven’t been perfected yet, or the gameplay can be expanded even further. We felt both of those things in Color Splash. However, I do feel as though we reached the end of where Color Splash is headed, so if we get the chance to continue the series, I think we’ll want to create a Paper Mario with a different system.”
I just wish the original Paper Mario teams would come back and make a game. Although it's extremely unlikely (like 99% unlikely), I have this hope that Intelligent Systems saw the backlash against Sticker Star (probably a year or 2 after the development of Color Splash started), and decided to develop another Paper Mario game, closer to the originals (likely a different team from color splash), while the team who worked on Sticker Star just tried to make Color Splash the best they could. And in 2-3 years, a New Paper Mario will be announced and released later on, following the footsteps of 64 or TTYD
Mario Maker should be either: Docked Mode: Play your and others levels Undocked Mode: Create Levels and Play OR: When you are docked you can use a app to connect to Switch (since Nintendo likes using mobile apps) and you can create levels there.
Why do people want to port Pikmin 3 though? It is sooo old, I think it was released when the Wii U launched. Pikmin 4 is on its way, so I would just wait
This is video is already over 3 months old and has aged like fine wine. If only because of the Bayonetta port idea, and what's more is that it is a Switch port of 1 AND 2, with a squeal already in the works. Wonder if Arlo will do a review of said Switch ports when they come out.
The MAIN reason I want a Smash bros port for Switch with just an extra handful of stages and characters and an improved version of Smash Run is.... .... I just feel Sakurai wouldn't be as motivated to do a better one. I think he gave it all on the last one, and it was because Iwata personally asked him, and Iwata is gone. Let Sakurai do something else
As a hardcore Smash 4 player I'd be fine with a Smash 4 deluxe instead of a new game. Even just adding all of the Wii U and 3DS levels into one game would be great, although there's also a whole lot they could improve on the single player side of things.
Aaron Kirschman Ignoring the censorship debate for a minute, because that's an internet rabbit hole I don't feel like jumping into.. I think it could work. The game is kinda odd in that it had one of the better uses for the gamepad on the Wii U in general, but nothing that would seriously keep it from being able to be ported. Add in a menu for the text messages/quest log, and either put a minimap on the screen or in a menu somewhere, that solves most of that. The other nice thing was being able to see everyone's stats easily and painlessly during a fight. Maybe some kind of added info tab during a battle to accommodate that? I think they could port it over, with a little bit of work to accommodate the switch to the.. switch. I'm not sure if they will however as it didn't sound to me like the game did super well in Japan or globally, so while the wider audience would help, it's possible they just won't see there being a point to doing so to begin with. I hope they do. That game was a ton of fun, and I'd love to see more people give it a shot.
Aaron Kirschman while I really enjoyed the game, I think there's no chance of a port. The game didntvreally sell well, and atlus is already working on other titles like SMT5. I dont see them going back to Tokyo mirrage sessions unless JRPGs in general sell amazingly well on switch
VOEZ is a tablet only game. so they have 1 there is no reason they shouldn't make more, like kirby and the rainbow curse. Even mario maker. make it have to be undocked to make levels and then you can play other peoples stages docked or undocked. That is not a turn off. I get it. The point of the switch is to be able to go from portable to hope but a few games doesnt mean they are scrapping that marketing strategy.
Honestly, the game I want them to port the most is Tropical Freeze. That's an amazing, yet extremely overlooked game and more people should get the chance to experience it. Also, I love you once again for using music from that game in this video. Amiss Abyss is actually my favorite song. Ever.
I think for Mario party they should ditch the thing where it's a cart and go back to the individual turns, but keep bowser mode as a thing where you use another switch as local play. And maybe keep the amiibo party because of the thing of every remote having an nfc reader and writer, but maybe not because the left controllers not having one, so you couldn't play amiibo party with split joycons. One more thing, focus on the mini games, and the maps, and have a portable mode and console mode. Console mode, being the home console, one screen type thing, and portable mode, like a 3ds, ds where it is a lot of Mario parties and their own views. That would be great. Thank you for reading.😀
I really want a Star Fox Zero port because I didn't get this (or Pokken!) on my Wii U. I really considered it but after the bad reviews I didn't end up trying it. If they fixed the controls and made it more traditional, and maybe with a cheaper price tag, it would be a must-have for me!
I don't really get why people hate the the controls so much but I don't really mind it I mean I guess I can see your different from other Star Fox games but that's not a bad thing
I would love to see a bunch of Wii U ports on the Switch. Yoshi's Woolly World being ported onto the same cart as the new Yoshi game would be INCREDIBLE. We'll see I guess. Nice job on predicting the Bayonetta II port :D
Is this real ? I mean I've been watch Arlo's videos all day and there is only two expansions either 1: Arlo's all ways watching 2: Or God has blessed me
I've been hoping for a new, homeconsole warioland game since forever. And now it's both homeconsole and handheld. This would be perfect. Also, imo we need more new games and less ports.
Wario Land is dead... Unfortunately. I wish that the devs behind it would try to bring it back. At least Good Feel or something. They're currently in charge of the Yoshi games, so I don't see why another Wario Land from them would be out of the question.
First 2 games? Don't you mean first 3 games? Because 3 was extremely similar to Wario Land II... And although it's unlikely, I'm hoping R&D1 will take a break from WarioWare for once and work on a new Wario Land, or maybe even a new Mario Land.
Scottydude456 but that's the whole problem. That sounds like another game on the surface because smash 4's box name is "Smash bros for Wii U". The whole "smash 4" is a fan term
what if nintendo called it Smash bros deluxe or something and included all the stages/ features from both wiiu and 3ds as the switch is both a handheld and a console?
I think "Super Smash Bros. for Switch" for the port and "Super Smash Bros. Something" for a brand new Switch Smash. From a quick Googling, synonyms for "fight": brawl, fracas, melee, row, rumpus, confrontation, skirmish, sparring match, exchange, struggle, tussle, scuffle, altercation, wrangle, scrum, clash, disturbance Both Melee and Brawl are on the list, just pick another one for Smash 5. Smash Bros. Clash or Smash Bros. Scrum maybe.
I really hope you're right about porting DKC: Tropical Freeze. It's so sad that game got completely overshadowed by Super Mario 3D World and Super Smash Bros. The Switch needs a Donkey Kong game. a port of Tropical Freeze would be better than nothing. However, I can't help but wonder if all the Donkey Kong Country references in Super Mario Odyssey's most shown off level New Donk City, is a hint at a 3D Open world Donkey Kong game in the works. Retro could definitely pull it off, they had no problems adapting Metroid into 3D with the Prime series, and since they're not working on Prime 4, they really could be making the next big DK game and make it way better than DK64.
Jared RB Garrison The DK series is my favorite from Nintendo and i'm kinda scared that what if Tropical Freeze is ported to the switch and halts or slows down the progression of the next DKC game? I mean, I don't own a wii u but i own the switch and id love to play TF but i also want a new DKC game to play
Rather than just a sequel to Mario maker, I'm thinking something more along the lines of Nintendo Maker. Where you can create Mario levels, Metroid is levels, Zelda dungeons, etc. and maybe it could have a Sprite editor and it's own hub to replace miiverse, because let's face it, something like Mario maker would NOT work on social media such as Twitter or Facebook.
Interesting coming back to this now and seeing it again. Arlo didn't always call it right, but his reasoning was spot on - Nintendo didn't bring back Wonderful 101, Platinum hail-mary'd the game on their own. Hyrule Warriors did come back, but that was Nintendo taking the easiest win they could get on the "Zelda every year" promise. Except for Treasure Tracker being a pretty early "fill in the release gaps" port (to decent sales!).
If they don't port any more I'll just get a Wii U. I'm glad I have the online games on my Switch but there are lots of single player games I haven't played because I skipped the Wii U.
Smash 4 Port Called Smash Bros Deluxe would be very good. Deluxe clearly means port because of Mario kart and pokken tournament then it would include all 3ds and Wii U stages and it would also include all dlc. That would be a very big hit
Suddenly I find myself wanting an actual game called "Pollen Tournament" where a race of bees must collect pollen from flowers being killed from human activity and use it against said allergic humans as each side fights to the death for their own survival...
Yeah a deluxe Smash Bros 4 Port would have all dlc and I would rather have Smash 4 deluxe than a Smash 5 even though I owned the Wii U and 3ds game because the Nintendo now makes dlc which is dumb and you’d have to buy that in Smash 5
I feel like Color Splash would have been a lot better if each card was usable any number of times, but you had to unlock them in various ways. Also, a customizable deck system could fill in the void that removing badges left, and adding deck limit restriction lifting and unique cards that are tied to a level up system could satisfy the progression side of things even more. The way it was set up in the actual game really stifled the possible deck-building fun that comes with collectible card games.
I'd be fine if "Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch" took everything from the Wii U game (DLC included), everything from the 3DS game (scaled up, of course), and added more stuff. Ice Climbers, more older stages, maybe some all-new stuff as well. Make it as definitive as possible.
"How do you make SSB for Wii U for Switch?"
* cough * * cough * Super Mario *64* DS
Super Mario 64 DS Switch Deluxe confirmed
@Sentry_11 What do you mean?
He means that the original game was named after the console it released on, the Nintendo 64. This didn't stop them from re-releasing it on another console, the Nintendo DS, and they even kept the 64 in the title. (What else would you call it anyway?)
This slightly invalidates the argument that they wouldn't port Smash 4 Wii U/3DS to the switch because it contains the name of its' release console in the title.
*tips fedora to show respect*
Super Smash Bros for Wii U for Switch. Yeah... doesn't really roll off the tongue lol
If they don't make a new Mario Maker or port the Wii U one, they're basically shooting themselves in the foot. It was a system seller for a lot of people, and would have drastically changed the life of the Wii U if it had released much earlier.
Playing it in docked mode would be a nightmare. And yes, I know about portable mode, but the game has to accommodate for both modes.
Because phones can connect to switch, I think the Nintendo switch app can double as a gamepad-type-thing. For splatoon and Mario maker SPECIFICALLY. It should not play the same thing on the tv for ANY GAME. Only as an add on, for maps and Mario maker etc.
Does playing (creating levels) in docked mode really matter
BOY DO I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU
Boi we don't need a port when we getting mario maker 2
you predicted the tropical freeze port.
Captain Toad is coming soon too, also for 3DS
and hyrule warriors eventhough its not a port but almost
New Funky Mode
If only ge was right about it being $30
And Mario Maker 2
3:51
Arlo: I'm not exactly sure what they would do with an inhanced tropical freeze
Nintendo: NEW FUNKY MODE!
7:55 "I need slopes" Arlo predicted the future
Anyone else never want an Arlo face reveal for the soul reason it's a lot more fun to imagine the puppet is actually alive and running the channel?
What do you mean imagine?
I'm pretty sure there was a time where the puppeteer of Arlo did videos on his own without the character.
yeah. I like thinking the puppet is real. It's very... nostalgic in a sense.
Yeah there are videos of him without the arlo puppet
Where can I find them?
How about a legend of Zelda remake bundle with Wind Waker HD, Twilight princess HD, and maybe even a Skyward Sword HD? 2 old ports and a new LoZ remake alongside it would sell really well in my opinion, especially considering how many new Zelda fans there are thanks to Breath of the Wild.
Michael Gemmill I need a Skyward Sword HD
Holy crap I had that same idea about the WW TP bundle!!
Sounds like an overwhelming bundle...
TheGameCreator13 yeah it wouldn't be cheap. But surely wind walker and twilight princess would be half the price considering the effort it would take to do it.
If that happens as well as smash I will sell Wii U in a heartbeat. Those are the only games I keep my Wii U around for that aren't on switch.
I need a port of Mario Maker.
They like to keep it simple
Of course art designs would be cool, and also assets that didn't make it into the first game, like slopes, those corner objects of SMW that let you run up on walls and more enemies
i know sprite editor is more complex than the things included at the time, but i think it could be possible, the bigger problem could be, that nintendo wants to be kidsfriendly, so the option for people to make sprites looking like cocks is a problem.
I just would like more complex things in Mario Maker, but sadly that will not happen.
asdf qwer prequal*
Metroid maker?
Zelda HD collection (with Skyward Sword HD) >>>> All.
Agreed.
Then maybe they could throw in the 64 games with the 3ds' graphics.
Melissa Torres WIND WAKER
I would lose my sanity and throw so much money at that.
it sure would be cool if they did skyward sword HD
@@GetShrekd it WOULD be really cool not gonna lie
What about "Mario All Stars for the Switch". Because if your not going to include any NSMB games why call it New Super Mario Bros: All Stars?
Witkraft_101 he meant a New "Super Mario All Stars". Not a "New Super Mario All Stars"
And imagine if a little later, there was a "New Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario Odyssey" like they did with Super Mario World.
As much as we'd love it and it would sell, it's hard to do cause of different control schemes and Nintendo would want to sell games through the E shop
I would love that! Sports Resort was one of my fav Wii games, was so mad at what they tried to replace it with when they made the Wii U equivalent...
I'm hoping for a definitive Wuhu Island game on the Switch at some point.
Definetly! It was one of the key character giving games for the Wii. Getting this on the Switch would make so much more people have an interest in the Hardware and its unqiue controls... It is so much more appealing than the switch tech demo we got for release. Doing Sports resort switch is mandatory! Lets go Nintendo
Glitchex64 why not a fully fledged sequel to Wii sports resort, I would have totally preferred that to 1 2 switch
Isaac Flynn yes 100%
Port over Breath of the Wild from the Wii U
pls no kill me issa joke
IPOD_man02468 it's just a prank

boi. unless youre kidding- youre dumb
I would say you seem dumb by how blatantly obvious the joke was
:v
I can't really think of any other Wii U games I want ported over, but I would throw money at a Deluxe Version Of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
How would that work
Gaming Geek new graphics maybe new separate story?
I can. Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 1+2, Smash Bros, Xenoblade Chronicles X.
TheMindOfThomas or those games can be on the Virtual console
Aaaaand Wind Waker, Luigis Mansion and Thousand Year Door. Dont forget those.
I REALLY REALLY WANT VIRTUAL CONSOLE
Ggteddf1 GAME arcade archives need some work
Rip
too bad so sad deal with paying for games you could normally play for free as long as you have a computer
Ggteddf1 - aside from the fact that it took forever to populate the store with my favorite games, Virtual Console was probably my favorite feature of both the Wii and the Wuu...
so I’m super disappointed it doesn’t look like the Switch is getting it, at least any time soon :(
@Nintendo Land Dude... What is your problem?
Looking back on this in March 2019, you were REALLY on for the most part.
Is it weird that I want to hug you? You are just so darn fluffy...
Yoshi Miner everyone wants to hug arlo
Yoshi Miner maybe he wouldn't feel so blue anymore after a nice hug!
Slenderfoxx37 XD
toasty gamecube Very true
Luigi Yep... Hard to resist...
Clickbait, Arlo didn't grow a mustache.
Mergie Mergason that's not his other channel.
Stop going on the comment section of my recommendations.
PowahSlap Entertainmint
Why are you like... EVERYWHERE!?
I want my mustache.
We deserve a mustache.
I'm sure it's there. It's just too blue to see it.
How Super mario maker 2 could work:
-Analog stick to move hand across the screen.
-All other controls would be the same
New "party mode"
-You select a time limit, e.x. Five, ten, or 15 minutes to make a level, the number of level players, and perhaps a co-op or vs mode
-The creator undocks it, and makes it in undocked, either with buttons or like it was on WiiU, maybe modified since there isn't a stylus.
And for fun, new assets:
-Slopes
-Collectibles (star coins)
-Placable water and lava; works like semisolid platforms
-Fire flower can be shook to get all power ups in that game; goes back to flower if theme changes; make the costumes in all versions and they stay 8-bit.
It's interesting to watch this a year out and see how close the predictions were.
7:45
This has aged VERY well.
you have no idea
8:11 And that did not. Almost everyone uses the cursor instead of the touchscreen.
@@Stefan35141 I use touch screen because I largely make levels handheld
Your videos are always so entertaining while still bringing up really good points, Arlo! I keep coming back to rewatch a lot of your videos precisely because of this, something I rarely do with other youtubers. Keep it up, my blue friend!
I want a xenoblade chronicles X port, I never got a Wii u and since I'm a fan of the series, I'd love to have it on the go.
The Dancing Demon Yeah. Me too.
Gabe St. Onge I have a Wii U, but I want XCX on the go.
I played it. If you were a fan of the original then I would definitely recommend it. Just don't expect to be in your Skell in the first 10 hours unless you completely rush it.
More like first 50 hours
I loved the first xenoblade but really didn't like X...
So... all that Arlo said wont happen. Because Nintendo surprises us and never does what we think they would do.
Yea, but know that we know they wont do what we think they would do, they're going to do it!
Craig Prime but now that you said that, they know that we know that they know that we know they are going to do it so now they wont do it... but now that i said this they will do it... I'm confused...
That's impossible because of BOTW and 8 Deluxe.
yeah, like never produce enough special editions so these scumfucks on ebay can sell them for tenfold.
I love Nintendo, but they make so many mistakes.
True, but we're expecting them to be unexpected.
Honestly, Mario Maker Switch should come with an Tablet/Mobile tie-in app that allows for you to build the stages on a touch screen.
he
The Switch took almost every game that made the Wii U unique and now go count how many exclusives the Wii U has, and count how many you actually like. You see what I’m talking about?
Zapum Playz I can think of 3D world and nsmb u you know 2 games I didn’t buy and those have prequels
@@vanelly5652 Well... Now it's just 3D Wor- Oh, nevermind then! New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, and 3D World as a new style in Super Mario Maker 2.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions. The game is hugely underrated and deserves a port + sequel.
Ben Morris YES!
Rixasum They already confirmed a new Fire Emblem in development for the Switch
Or port the Radiant games to the Switch in an HD collection... a lot more work but not as much work as making a game from scratch and those games were quite popular for the series (which wasn't popular back then)
Kind of a niche market. Also persona 5 was so much more successful atlas will probably focus on that.
God no. Tokyo Mirage Sessions was ruined by Nintendo Treehouse. Keep that bastardized localization on the Wii U.
I can just imagine the PTSD he must of gone through when talking about color splash
I love watching this in late 2018 seeing what he got right and wrong. We got an all new Smash. Tropical freeze, Hyrule warriors, Yoshi, treasure tracker, and Bayonetta were all realeased too.
You literally predicted the future on the Mario Maker
Sometimes I snap out and question... WHY AM I WATCHING A PUPPET TALK ABOUT GAMMMEESS either ways I still love you channel arlo😂
As a Wii U and Switch owner I'm not pissed off at all. For example I'm excited for Pokken cause I don't own it for Wii U but even games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe I will eventully buy just not for the full price.
And I'm also excited for people who were claiming the Wii U had no games thinking "hmmm... the Wii U was an awesome console after all"
Just like the Gamecube.
Carbon7000 even the virtual boy?
Dirty Dave it took way too long for the system to get those games
The whole "Smash 4" thing annoys me. You know the Wii U one was the 5th one, right?
Yes, we do. But we refer to it otherwise since Smash 3DS and Wii U are practically the same game. Why else would Sakurai try to keep the rosters the same?
It’s always great when you find a creator in a comment section before they blew up.
This is a surreal watch in 2021.
-SSB Wii U: Successor instead of port (mostly CORRECT)
-Tropical Freeze: Port plus Funky mode (CORRECT)
-3D World: Coming very soon with relatively meaty extra content (basically CORRECT)
-Xenoblade X: Nothing announced, but Xenoblade 1 was remastered (mostly CORRECT)
-Pikmin 3: Port + a few extra features (CORRECT, except timeline)
-Woolly World: No port (CORRECT)
-Hyrule Warriors: Port AND sequel released (WRONG)
-Mario Maker: Sequel (CORRECT, except timeline)
-Bayonetta 2: Port (CORRECT)
-Wonderful 101: Port (CORRECT, mostly)
-Captain Toad: Port, no sequel ("probably not" turned out incorrect)
-Rainbow Curse: No port (CORRECT)
-Color Splash: Sequel (his preference was correct)
-Star Fox Zero: Nothing (basically CORRECT)
Overall, Arlo seems to have mostly nailed it - the only real wrong things (as of Feb 9 2021) were things he thought WOULDN'T happen.
Wasn't he right about Hyrule Warriors?
@@Antasma1 yes
Hyrule warriors is EXTREMELY underrated, please give it a try
You actually predicted donkey Kong tropical freeze and bayonetta, but wrong about hyrule warriors and captain toad, but great job!

Hey arlo! I'm new here and just subscribed! I love your content and am bing watching all of your vids! Keep up the great work!!!
I really hope they will bring back the Zelda games too. I would really like to play Windwaker again.
Costa Tzoytzoyrakos just... play windwaker HD???? it only came out a few years ago
ik. But I think it would be cool if they brought it back to the switch. Just a thought.
Costa Tzoytzoyrakos they have remade/ported oot, mm, ww, tp, and botw i think zelda has had enough lol. there are 3 consoles + pc you can play windwaker on i think thats enough for now
a port of a port of a GameCube game? Yeah, that'll happen!
xD Thats true actually.
Maybe we could get a port of Breath of the Wild for the Switch as well... who knows, right?
This video aged quite well!
The funny thing about watching this late: A lot of these Ideas are coming to the switch.
Am I the only person that wants Yoshi's Story 2?
Yeah? Okay Ill go home...
Jake The Snoop (Evan) A sequel to Yoshi's Story would be great, but it would have to be much more difficult. The original was a great concept, a 2D platformer collectathon at a time when everybody was going full 3D but it was crippled by its short length and lacking difficulty
What're you doin here Snoop you silly boy
Segatendo1985 Easy? Mostly true that it was easy, but I have four words.
THAT. STUPID. NIGHTMARE. FISH.
But seriously, I don't think you should think that critically of a game based on its difficulty or length. For difficulty, Kirby is always easy, yet still has amazing quality. For length, some of the best games ever, like Super Metroid, are short. Both of those things are flaws, but neither are serious. It's all about the enjoyment.
Jake The Snoop (Evan) , We all do buddy.
Sml Reviewer just chillin in the arlo comment section m8
I love watching these videos in the future to see how right or wrong you were.
I’m from the future (2019)
Arlo was right
Mario Maker 2
I’m from the future (2020) and 3d world switch is revealed
Wow the future is so cool...
I just want New Super Mario Bros: All-Stars, it could have all of the new games all in one, and it could be a nice throwback to an old game
Great video Arlo! You're my favorite muppet! 🙊 I think touch screen-centric Wii U games could totally work when docked the Switch! The joycons split are essentially the same as Wii Remote and nunchuck, and curser control is almost just as responsive as touch screen controls in my opinion.
*Here's the complete list of Arlo's predictions and how they went as of November 2023*
Smash 4
Arlo: Unlikely due to the name "For Wii U" working on Nintendo Switch.
Truth: Didn't happen. Got a sequel instead in Dec. 2018
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Arlo: Not sure but could easily happen.
Truth: Got ported in May 2018 with Funky Mode and with a higher price tag.
Super Mario 3D World
Arlo: Unlikely but won't happen for a few years. A sequel is more likely though.
Truth: Got ported in Feb. 2021 as part of Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary, with a new experimental campaign called "Bowser's Fury".
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Arlo: Unlikely unless Xenoblade Chronicles 2 sells well.
Pikmin 3
Arlo: Gotta happen before Pikmin 4, so Spring 2018 is most likely it.
Truth: Got ported with new content in Oct. 2020. Pikmin 4 wasn't released until July 2023...
Yoshi's Woolly World
Arlo: Won't happen due to getting ported to Nintendo 3DS in Feb. 2017 and getting a sequel in the future for Nintendo Switch.
Truth: Arlo's prediction was right. The game hasn't been ported to Nintendo Switch yet.
Hyrule Warriors
Arlo: Won't happen due to it getting ported to Nintendo 3DS in March 2016 and isn't important enough to get ported twice.
Truth: Did get ported during Spring 2018 with all DLC included and with new Zelda: Breath of the Wild Costumes. It's important enough for Koei Tecmo, apperently!
Super Mario Maker
Arlo: Will get a sequel to Nintendo Switch and announced at E3 2018.
Truth: Got a sequel announced at Nintendo Direct 13.2.2019 and released in June 2019. As for the controls, they went with Stick Controls for TV Mode.
Bayonetta 2
Arlo: It's a perfect niche title for the Switch's perfect audience.
The Wonderful 101
Arlo: Unsure what to do with it.
Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush
Arlo: Won't happen due to the heavy use of the Wii U Gamepad.
Truth: Arlo's prediction was correct. The game hasn't been ported to Nintendo Switch yet.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Arlo: Won't happen due to the heavy use of the Wii U Gamepad, and a sequel is more likely anyway.
Truth: Got ported to both Nintendo Switch AND Nintendo 3DS in July 2018. They replaced the Wii U Gamepad with Gyroscope on the Switch and with the touch screen on the 3DS.
Paper Mario: Color Splash
Arlo: They should if they want this new style of Paper Mario to succeed. Fix the battle system and the game will be good.
Truth: Didn't happen. Got a sequel instead.
Star Fox Zero
Arlo: It's possible, but they should make a new game instead.
I thought the title said «Wii U and switch: to port or nort?»
Damn
Definetely nort
Get some sleep yo
Paper Mario is due for a change. They tend not to keep the same formula 3 times in a row.
Nathan Which will be either a blessing or a curse.
If I recall, Miyamoto did say after Colour Splash realised that he wanted to do something "different" to the PM series than what we currently saw so far.
It was Kensuke Tanabe who said that- the producer championing the changes to Paper Mario.
THIS AGED SO WELL WHAT.
Mario Maker should be either:
Docked Mode: Play your and others levels
Undocked Mode: Create Levels and Play
OR:
When you are docked you can use a app to connect to Switch (since Nintendo likes using mobile apps) and you can create levels there.
Foxy Boy Honestly, that would give the Nintendo app some use, albeit take up space on the app for people not buying Mario maker
Watching this in June 2018 is hilarious.
What about June 2019? Super Mario Maker 2 got released.
I just want Pikmin on Switch. NOW
Hi How Are Ya? They are tecnically making Pikmin 4.
Why do people want to port Pikmin 3 though? It is sooo old, I think it was released when the Wii U launched. Pikmin 4 is on its way, so I would just wait
Jordan Leung one year after the Wii U, actually.
Now Bayonetta 2 is actually coming to Switch!
This is video is already over 3 months old and has aged like fine wine. If only because of the Bayonetta port idea, and what's more is that it is a Switch port of 1 AND 2, with a squeal already in the works. Wonder if Arlo will do a review of said Switch ports when they come out.
I love watching videos like this in 2021 when (nearly) every single game has been ported to Switch or has a sequel.
They could bring back the Ice Climbers since the Switch doesn't have the same limitations as the 3DS.
Well you were wrong!
This didnt age well
And boy you were wrong he fucking killed it with smash ultimate, it looks fucking amazing
I'd love to see a port of Tokyo Mirage Sessions, especially with less censorship for the non-Japanese localizations!
Oh my god stop this comment is always so annoying
Aaron Kirschman They will make a sequel probably!
KnukkleJoeShow Aparently the staff is 100% ready for a sequel, in words of Tiki's VA and the director, so Nintendo and Aylus has the last word.
5 views and 1 like? That actually makes sense.
Very original. Good job.
lets push it up then!
There's a Japanese rhthym called VOEZ on the switch that requires touch screen, therefore making you play handheld. Really good game btw!
little did he know that captain toad would actually be ported, and a new smash bros game would be announced
Wow- less than 200 dislikes and over 100k views? Arlo needs to be nerfed
Hopping Hat 350k now with 260 dislikes
less than 0.1% of viewers disliked
I'd rather have a captain toad sequel than a 3d world port or sequel.
Mister Swoof Cpt Toad was a great game, sequel would be nice.
James Well there was a port with bonus stuff....
I already got the Wii U not buying.
All I really want is Mario rpg on the Switch. 3DS dropped the ball. And frankly, I don't understand what the copyright problem was.
What I mean by "a lot of Mario parties" is that it is always your turn like in star rush
They ditched the car in Star Rush
You got a lot of these 😌
I really want a Star Fox Zero port because I didn't get this (or Pokken!) on my Wii U.
Little did Arlo know that Nintendo just watches his channel for business decisions
I would love to see a bunch of Wii U ports on the Switch. Yoshi's Woolly World being ported onto the same cart as the new Yoshi game would be INCREDIBLE. We'll see I guess. Nice job on predicting the Bayonetta II port :D
I'd rather a new Donkey Kong Country game, but yeah too many people haven't played it, I say go for the port
Zapazoid you got it.
Super Smash Brothers: that was from wiiu, that's for the Switch, with knuckles deluxe
Also, I would kill for a Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon HD for the Switch
Is this real ?
I mean I've been watch Arlo's videos all day
and there is only two expansions either
1: Arlo's all ways watching
2: Or God has blessed me
It's crazy to me that I remember watching this when it came out and that couple of years when Super Mario 3D World would get a port is now
0:02 Hello my exceptionally awesome RUclipsr!
Wouldn't it be great to get a new 2D classic Wario land game on the Switch?
as long as its more like the first 2 games.
Yesssssss Warioland 5 would be liiiiiit!!!!11
Arlo Captain Toad is a port now!!!!!!! YES!!!!!
Call it "Smash 4 Switch"
Scottydude456 but that's the whole problem. That sounds like another game on the surface because smash 4's box name is "Smash bros for Wii U". The whole "smash 4" is a fan term
what if nintendo called it Smash bros deluxe or something and included all the stages/ features from both wiiu and 3ds as the switch is both a handheld and a console?
Or just call it Smash Bros. Deluxe. It's already pretty well established that Deluxe means port with Mario Kart and Pokken.
I think "Super Smash Bros. for Switch" for the port and "Super Smash Bros. Something" for a brand new Switch Smash.
From a quick Googling, synonyms for "fight":
brawl, fracas, melee, row, rumpus, confrontation, skirmish, sparring match, exchange, struggle, tussle, scuffle, altercation, wrangle, scrum, clash, disturbance
Both Melee and Brawl are on the list, just pick another one for Smash 5.
Smash Bros. Clash or Smash Bros. Scrum maybe.
Scottydude456 how about smash ultimate
Yeah, I know right? A Captain Toad port would never happen.
and dlc is IMPOSSIBLE!
Arlo got basically all of this right
I really hope you're right about porting DKC: Tropical Freeze.
YES
Jared RB Garrison The DK series is my favorite from Nintendo and i'm kinda scared that what if Tropical Freeze is ported to the switch and halts or slows down the progression of the next DKC game? I mean, I don't own a wii u but i own the switch and id love to play TF but i also want a new DKC game to play
Jared RB Garrison Welp. Wish granted I guess. We're getting Tropical Freeze with brand new content :)
Gimme those Fcking Ports!!! Where's SM4SH at???
At least several months away.
Nah let it be on the wii u and just make a new one for the Switch.
Watch the video
Most people would rather get a new smash bros game instead of a port
Bob bobinson speak for thine own self Cur! I would love Smash 4 Switch Deluxe.
"We know Pikmin 4 is coming"
Even tho this channel isin’t super meme dream comedy it still is so funny that a cookie monster doll talking video games
There is a game that requires the switch to be in handheld mode, it's called Voez.
TurretBot He said a game released by Nintendo
The reason I didn't buy color splash was because the switch was right around the corner.
I need dk tropical freeze and windwaker HD
Interesting coming back to this now and seeing it again. Arlo didn't always call it right, but his reasoning was spot on - Nintendo didn't bring back Wonderful 101, Platinum hail-mary'd the game on their own. Hyrule Warriors did come back, but that was Nintendo taking the easiest win they could get on the "Zelda every year" promise. Except for Treasure Tracker being a pretty early "fill in the release gaps" port (to decent sales!).

Hi im from the future and they announced smash 5 in 2018 yay :)
If they don't port any more I'll just get a Wii U. I'm glad I have the online games on my Switch but there are lots of single player games I haven't played because I skipped the Wii U.
I'm going to make a pikmin level editor just for arlo lol
The game pad features could be portable mode exclusive.
Genius
He guessed a Pikmin 3 port
Smash 4 Port Called Smash Bros Deluxe would be very good. Deluxe clearly means port because of Mario kart and pokken tournament then it would include all 3ds and Wii U stages and it would also include all dlc. That would be a very big hit
Suddenly I find myself wanting an actual game called "Pollen Tournament" where a race of bees must collect pollen from flowers being killed from human activity and use it against said allergic humans as each side fights to the death for their own survival...
Lol 😂 if fixed it
Daww, now people aren't gonna know what my comment is talking about and think I'm crazy!
If its a port rather than smash 5 I'll probably skip it because of nintendo's shoddy choice of DLC characters.
Yeah a deluxe Smash Bros 4 Port would have all dlc and I would rather have Smash 4 deluxe than a Smash 5 even though I owned the Wii U and 3ds game because the Nintendo now makes dlc which is dumb and you’d have to buy that in Smash 5
I want Smash and the HD Zeldas
I need Majoras Mask HD in my life.
Nintendo, if you watch Arlo's videos, please port mario maker. Thanks.
