How different people are and that's good. Precisely yesterday my Canon M5 that I bought on Facebook arrived and I confess that I wanted to have this camera for a long time. I know it's very old, but I like it for these things. I love its screen that doesn't fold down, it's perfect for me who just wants to go out and take photos, without distorting the horizon as a result of tilting a folding screen. I also deeply love that it has 3 dials. (iso, aperture and speed), I love the function button because it gives me more security. In fact, this M5 is very similar in ergonomics to my Canon R5, which I do use for video and photos as well. Greetings from Chile and thanks for the video.

I think the same as you. I love its screen and the three dials.

I have both and feel the same way. The M5 seems slower, occasionally fiddly with saving files and lacks the flippy screen.

Less buttons is the thing that disqualifies the M50 for me. I shoot manual or Aperture Priority and I hate having to fiddle with multiple buttons to change one bloody setting. For video it's probably not as important, but for stills my D3300 drives me insane with just a single dial and a few buttons.

Do either of them use an electro-magnetic shutter release or are they using micro-switches?

@@NickBorsellino You can tell when you bottom out the shutter release. Does it make a tactile and audible "click" or does the shutter just release when the button is depressed far enough?

It really depends on what type of videos you want to make. I started my channel with my cell phone and it worked just fine. Then I got a GoPro because it could be used inside outside I could do all sorts of stuff with it. I really like the Canon M50 the best but it might be a little out of your price range. I think mirrorless cameras are best for beginners, but that's just my opinion. You could get a cheap Canon video camera that is specifically designed for videos. I think they are less than $200. Hope that helps
