Can you review Dead end paranormal park? I've seen reviews talking about the LGBTQ rep and I think that's fun, but I'd like to hear someone talking about both the episodical plots, and the overarching plot!!!
How did Lord and Miller mess up so bad. I will never understand that? After years of making amazing works of art, this season is by far their worst work.
@@a18yearoldonyoutubeluigi Even tho I like Clone High's recent season, I have to say... this one feel more like a some random Nelvana/Wildbrain cartoon, because of the simple humor, wacky poses and wild cartoony sounds.
Calls the original show outdated yet that's the reason *IT GOT A SEASON 2* If clone high wasn't the way it was regardless of how "outdated" it was, it wouldn't have a cult following
@@Saltedroastedcaramel Also I find it funny this was supposed to a more 2023 version of clone high yet they still refer to old movies. Like goonies was made in 1985.
@@suitdoggy4707 And the goonies hasn't been referenced in years . I probably only seen that movie once in my life and I don't think I watched it completely
Ironically, i think there could’ve been a way to make Joan the protagonist and “popular girl” in a far more natural sense Do a “goth girls are super popular in the 2020s” joke and basically have her in the protagonist role against her will
you could even continue the abe joke by making them both have crushes on each other because he gave up on cleo, except now he’s too insecure in himself to ask her out and doesn’t know if she really likes him or not (even though she’s still explicitly telling him she likes him every episode
@@wren_. Either that or have Abe get Cleo, only for him to realise that "Joan was the better person" Except, in Clone High fashion, they could spin it so rather than Abe realising that Joan was better because of how nice she was and supportive of him, it could be for something petty that Cleo does. Either that, or lean into how a lot of people feel like Joan only liked a certain vision of Abe, with Abe realising that if he went with Joan, she'd be no real better than Cleo's manipulations.
This would have been the way. I also HATE how they made Abe do a complete self aware 180, and the fact that he's not selfish anymore. There was absolutely nothing that pushed him to do that.
It would've been funny if they wrote her as traditionally goth, and have her basically be depicted as the class crush who everyone adored, only for them to leave the second their view of her was shattered and that she wasn't a trendy goth girl, but instead just a lazy stoner type.
the way they thoroughly dumbed down cleo is one of the most offensive aspects of this season. like you're telling me... that the girl who randomly quoted science facts mid sentence just because she could, who was top of her class and student president... doesn't care? about studying or being smart? i thought the focal point of cleopatra is that she's got Both the looks and smarts and knows how to use them to her advantage. ...what happened
Exactly!! I honestly hoped Cleo would at least get a redemption arc. She was very smart and like manipulative (but iconic like I love her). And in season 1 there was small hints of like why she was that way, first off her mom is an alcoholic and if I remember correctly in one episode she mentioned how her mom would throw things at her. She also mentions a lot of times how other men have like touched her and it’s kind of gray area bc she never mentions if she wanted to or not. ANYWAYS not trying to make this show deep. But I really hoped we would at least get redemption, she does have empathy for Joan but she also sees her as a rival for both Abe and JFK. I wished that in this season the friendship between Joan and Cleo would somehow develop. IMO Cleo shouldn’t be w either JFK or Abe. Idk I just was very disappointed in how they just made her a mean girl trope.
i loved that about her character because her clone mother was actually incredibly well educated for her times which is rarely mentioned fact about her and also broke the stereotype of the popular girl being stupid
It doesn’t help either that the real Cleopatra was considered attractive because of how intelligent and powerful she was, not because she was physically “hot”. The whole things about Cleopatra being physically attractive was a trope invented by Shakespeare, but her being an intelligent high-achiever is accurate to the historical figure.
Its crazy just how lost the history is in this show. Idk how Harriet and Abe NEVER bumped heads. The two clones who were alive during the same time period had SO MUCH POTENTIAL, IT WAS RIGHT THERE! I could see Harriet being an unpopular, "bad influence" rule breaker, calling out Abe's cluelessness, pushing him he's unconfortable with doing for his own good or the good of others, and in the end making him more decisive. Idk man
Hell even Abe and JFK’s histories are never touched on except for one shitty assassination joke. There was potential there too, Kennedy was actually the peaceful resolution type while Lincoln had no problem playing dirty war politics to achieve a good goal. Both were more authoritarian than history books portray them as. Neither had a conversion arc and were always allies to civil rights, but were naive in the beginning and intensified support as the presidencies progressed. On a lighter note, both had socialite wives who spent way too much of their money buying fancy clothes
Honestly, making Confucius shouldn't actually be that hard. He was a very strict traditionalist that cared about rules. You either make his clone exactly that, caring about the rules, family, and how people around him act (basically a stickler type kind of like Randall from Recess) or you do the opposite and make him the most chill and easy going person to give his clone father the middle finger.
Honestly I could see his character working mostly as-is, but with just a few tweaks. He could want the same recognition that his clone parent got, but completely fail to understand WHY he was so revered in the first place. He could be smart, but completely socially inept. Thinking that he's every bit as wise as his clone parent, but also making the assumption that intelligence and wisdom are the same thing. So every attempt he makes to gain clout and fame through his "wisdom" falls completely flat on its face because his ego gets in the way of realizing that he has no idea how people actually work and thus, he gives the exact opposite message he was trying to get across.
@@NEETKittenmaybe have his terrible advice be taken seriously by the other characters because “he’s confucius so therefore he’s right”. the only one who wouldn’t fall for it would be cleo, because she knows how people work.
I feel like there was a massive missed opportunity to have Hamilton be one of the new clones. So many jokes could have been made in relation to him being frustrated by, pressured to live up to, or being embarrassed by the musical made about his clone father.
As much of a good idea that is, I genuinely doubt they'd do anything close to that as they seem like the type of writers who unapologetically love Hamilton and thus wouldn't make fun of it like they do with everything else they like.
@@eatatjoes6751Sounds like the type of clone I could get along with. Don’t see the hype for it. Hell, i’m more hyped for Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera.
@@hiddendesire3076 Having Hamilton as a side character who tries to be part of the plot but everyone instead bugs him to rap for them would a good running gag.
The best way they could have continued Clone High would be by satirizing modern-day teen dramas, such as Euphoria and Riverdale, with much more "realistic" storylines and tone. Overall, Season 2 isn't meant to be a continuation: it's a CLONE of itself: the first iteration was great, and nobody could live up to it, but the second version tries its hardest to continue it, losing what made it special in the first place.
To see Clone High take the piss out of show’s like Riverdale would have required effort and understanding of humour, and we already know that HBO doesn’t have a lot of that.
Dropping the satire of teen dramas was such a huge missed opportunity. They could’ve satirized modern teen dramas like riverdale. Wouldve still been a very different show, but a lot more entertaining and relevant. Though, i kinda see how modern teen dramas might be past the point of parodying.
Modern teen dramas in themselves feel like parody. Have you SEEN Riverdale? Beyond season 1, the show goes completely off the fucking rocker snd simultaneously becomes better and worse with each passing season.
Satire would require self awareness, and/or talent. Something I refuse to believe modern movie and show writers have. Even those who had it once upon a time

What they did to Joan broke my heart. I saw so much of myself in her and her insecurities in season one, and in season 2 she’s truly unrecognizable, her only character traits are being neurotic, horny, and awkward. One of the worst character assassinations I’ve ever seen.
They Britta'd her, but they Britta'd Britta-ing her somehow. How do you Britta Britta-ing a character? (If I am speaking gibberish to you, this is your incentive to watch Community)
iirc the creators said this season was supposed to show how the show would be if Joan was popular instead of the way she was in the first season. It’s on purpose, I think she’s going to return to her usual self in season 3
@@은지-u3c2o I get that Clone High Joan isn't actually Jeanne, but Jeanne took her own immense popularity with grace and humility. It's probably just my obsessive devotion to the saint speaking, though.
It's because they're scared to make any of the the main cast other than Abe and Toper have bad traits. The reason why Joan was so good was because she also had her flaws and sometimes even acknowledge them. Now she's a hallow person who's only purpose this season is to bully Abe, fuck Jfk, and talk about how much she was bullied or girls didn't like her.
The actual Frida in real life had a pretty depressing life. Thats why a lot of her work is self expression to her past and emotions. She didn't consider herself to be a surrealist even though the public did. But she did live a tragic life of constant illness with her and her family members.
As someone from Mexico, here a lot of people tend to devaluate frida and her art (most likely as a result of her over exposition) and I find that really sad. She lived a very tragic life and her paintings were her only output. Even as someone that doesn’t like her work that much, I can see the rawness and tragedy in her paintings and appreciate that.
@@thecollector4332 exactly, i thought they were going to reveal the new frida felt like a hack because she wouldnt be actually artistically creative even if skillful, since her intro was she skateboarding, i assumed it was a wink to how the original Frida was an amputated and had a dozen of health issues Like not to take it into a way too drama heavy stuff, i feel it would have been funny if they had made topher and frida the new popular power couple of school, topher would be like the parody of those rich white kids that are all about social issues even if are swinging in their parents' money, and Frida would be liek those artsy kids that pretending being super deep in their art, but is actually very much an air head that doesnt know what the hell she is talking about
@@KnucklesxReala911 I still liked what they did with Topher though (up until the last minute). You gotta remember, these are new human beings that don't attain the memories of their clone parents and are only aware of them through others' means, so it makes sense if Topher was this super socially aware person that constantly has to bottle up his terribleness inside considering how critical people are of Colombus. It would've been funny if Frida, realizing that Topher was struggling to express himself, finds it in herself to help him since she's actually a good person. And then after making him comfortable enough to be himself - That's when they reveal that Topher's "true self" is to spout out the n-word (or something). To be the most edgy kid in the block. Except the person he's only not edgy with, and genuinely respects, was Frida, who now is in a dilemma for 'On one hand, I made this kid happy and genuinely respect me, on the other hand, he's an asshole'. That directly makes fun of the 'good girl fixes bad boy and turns him good' trope.
@@sleeplessstudios7626 Frida Kahlo was born with several health issues, her childhood was filled with surgeries and she lived in isolation from other kids. Among other things, she suffered from polio. Which left lifelong sequels to her body. But the most damaging incident in her life happened when she was eighteen years old. She was traveling alongside her boyfriend in the bus when it was suddenly hit by a streetcar. The accident broke Frida’s spine in three parts, two of her ribs fractured, her pelvic bone fractured as well and her legs were also severely damaged. This accident (and the subsequent 20+ surgeries) left her immobilized for months, and that was what motivated her getting into painting. She often painted self portraits that depicted her broken state. The accident (combined with her medical issues) also meant she could never have kids, which was something she desperately wanted. Her being unable to conceive children and the various abortions she had left her with a horrible depression (and this was also something that was reflected often in her work). She later got married to Diego Rivera (one of Mexico’s most important muralists). The marriage had several highs and lows, the lowest low being when Diego had an affair with Frida’s sister. Which led her to have several affairs with both men and women (she even had a relationship with Trotski when he was exiled in Mexico). They divorced and remarried (with an agreement of living together but without having sex) The last tragic incident in her life happened when they had to amputate her leg due to a gangrene infection. This incident left her bound to a wheelchair and gave her a terrible depression. She tried to commit suicide multiple times. She eventually died at age 47 from a pulmonary embolism. This is skipping all her art career and political activism of course, but this brief recap of her life may give you an idea as to how tragic and depressing Frida’s life was.
The funny thing about Harriet Tubman is that she was a minor/background character in season 1. I think maybe that's a production error or something. I really wish they would have acknowledged it like making it a plot-point that they cloned the same person twice
The whole issue with Harriet could have just been solved by making her a clone of someone else (like Billie Holiday or CJ Walker) the writers never did anything interesting with her being a clone of Harriet Tubman anyway.
They did say that the new clones were a separate project, so it's entirely possible there's two Tubman clones walking around. It actually could have been funny to have her and the Harriet from season 1 bump into each other to point this out.
@@snowbunnie1113 Literally I always make jokes that she could have been Rosa Parks and it wouldn't have changed her character in the slightest. She could be any dead black female figure from the past and it would have been no different than her being Harriet. Same with Confucius.
it is practically never a good idea. A writer needs to be clear-headed about what they're writing. They need to have a certain point the story is tied to, and they need to be unafraid to make things weird or difficult in order to drive home that point. That's when the story becomes engaging. Many fans are too indulgent to portray the necessary nuances.
Its letting the wrong "fans" make it. They find the safest ESG hires to make these reboots. When 2000's humor was wild. It was meant to mock rather than be slightly edgy with a subliminal message and meeting the current narrative. It used to be rebelious, now its compliant. If you told me the people who worked on Velma worked on this i would 100% believe it.
Nah, the writers of this weren't fans, fans can make awful garbage but you'll be able to tell if it's garbage made by fans, meanwhile this show reads like it was made by a text prompt.
He was part of the OG cast watch the original show he was a background character and I had some speaking lines. Sadly he's been reduced to a giant race joke.
you know what would be funny? if they did an episode satirizing school shootings (topher is the stereotypical “quiet kid”), but then at the last minute he stops himself because there’s too many minorities in the school and he doesn’t wanna come off as racist.
Now that could have been funny, like she’s completely misunderstood what “the Underground Railroad” was because she’s dense, but the show would never dare make fun of Harriet Tubman. She’s is to modern Western liberals to what Gandhi was to India in 2003 - a sacred cow.
@@snowbunnie1113 You know, until something about her is found to be compromising about her status and then people will completely step away and act like they never liked her in the first place just so they won't look bad for not knowing the "facts" before because that's what it means to admire someone these days: to hope you always liked a clean and infallible person.
i actually think this would be a great idea. she could be like those types of teens on social media nowadays who DESPERATELY want to be seen as progressive and smart and correct about every social issue, but have an extreme fundamental misunderstanding of what those issues are, like how a lot of infighting happens in queer, diverse, left-leaning communities on social media over pointless labels rather than actual issues people really face, for example. the clone could have an obsession with wanting to be just as progressive and helpful to society as her parent, but not have any idea about what she did or how she did it, thus leading to the misunderstanding of thinking the "underground railroad" refers to trains. she'd be like the types of kids who will write a whole callout doc on you for using a "problematic" word to identify yourself with, without paying attention to any of the things you actually say, do, or think
Honest to god, when I first saw Harriet Tubman, I thought she was supposed to be Madam CJ Walker (known for revolutionizing black hair care). And that was because of her pink hair. Funnily enough I immediately knew who Confucius was because they already had Genghis Khan from Season 1. There weren’t exactly a lot of influential, universally known Asian figures known to Western audiences.
Buddha and Attila I thought were already background characters as well in s1. You're right, I can only think of those three off the top of my head. At least for ones who id recognize a caricature of.
They would have had way more comedic value if they would have gone with a Chairman Mao Zedong clone instead. Given he was a horrible historical figure and the father of the modern Chinese Communist Party/PRC especially with China’s rise to major world power in the last 20 years. He could have either subverted expectations by being anti Xi Jingping/modern China or leaned into his dictatorial “clone dad” and been used as a series antagonist. Confucius is such a lame historical figure to satirize. There’s nothing obvious there to poke fun at. Or they could have at least made him an overbearing teacher character who thinks they’re way more wise then they actually are constantly peppering in flowery poetic sayings that ultimately mean nothing or don’t have a place in modern society. The character they ended up with is so unbelievably lazy.
This is why not every "fan" should be allowed to work on anything since they will probably ruin the characters, turn a character into a self insert or flat out make a self insert that is unlikable and flawless
I havent even seen the og show and Im angry at it! Though, maybe I shouldnt be? I mean, Ive only experienced the first season through second hand clips (and this video) and Im about the age of the people rediscovering it, maybe Im somewhat part of the problem? this season still sucks lemons though

This season is the most fanfic-y thing I've ever watched. It genuinely feels like it was written by some 12 year old who didn't understand what the series was satirizing.
So much current media seems like fanfiction, all the social recluse fanfic writers of yesteryear have been given power to create and the result is this.
Calling this show fanfic-y is an insult to fanfiction writers because I have read some REALLY good fanfiction over the years that shows something can be good when you put a little effort into it, even when done by a fan. This show is just an insult to fanfiction.
Abe being overly “white guy” confident is weird and the confidence would be a Ghandi thing. He was never ashamed of doing anything. G spot, shaking his bare butt at a file festival, kid napping a mascot. He just did whatever thought came into his head.
So basically Season 2 was written by those weird tumblr fans who obsessed over specific aspects of the series while completely missing the point? Could they not have just... got the old writers back?
For the segment of the video talking about Harriet Tubman, I was thinking that maybe due to her controlling the underground railroads, the writers could have used that to make her character secretive and stealthy, making her sneak around corners rather than walking like a normal student and be less talkative with her only hanging around a select group of friends, this mainly being Confucius and Frida, while growing to tolerate the rest of the main cast like Joan & JFK and maybe even writing an interesting dynamic between Harriet and Abe, since they played big parts in the history of slavery in America.
I'm surprised they didn't use John Brown (JB) alongside Harriet, just change his hatred of slavery to bullying/discrimination, and also be the trope of guy who takes it too far even though they're morally in the right
@@drakunauger3324 Oh yeah, John Brown would've been fantastic. The guy was insanely interesting and...pretty insane, they could've done so much with him. Also, make the character have a fake giant puffy beard.
Probably no because this is entire history themed show, not 1/12 history. Might as well dig up whatever Swiss dude taught both George W Bush and Osama bin Laden at school, and make that a "historical" character.
They didn't really do a lot with the new clones relating to their originals, besides maybe Frida with her art. In the first season, half the gags were relating to their clone fathers/mothers and their fates.
They shouldve even made her stupid twister play into an actual meaningful play about who the original harriet was and what she did because she herself takes pride in her people and the things her clone parent did. Wouldve been a fun lil history lesson too
JFK was supposed to be the Jock archetype so seeing him as a somewhat nice and understanding person completely misses the point of the character. Plus removing his er-uh was such a asskissing move.
44:58 "I swear, every joke this season is lifted from the Twitter feed of an insufferably annoying teenager." So basically, the same issues with a staggering amount of "current" writing.
I feel it's like when teens on TikTok "discover" something and find it "aesthetic", miss the point and start using it with a different context unaware of or rejecting the original intention, which leads to them just using the surface level details and their own headcannon.
We can blame shorts format for this, this goes down to tik tok users butchering songs and removing the intro for the "good part" with no build up. Initially because they had to, but later because it was just how they did it
I think the character designs are a big part of this. The new clones don't look like they're from the same show as the old ones, because they've got way more contemporary designs, and the old clones got to keep their usual looks because they were already part of the Clone High "aesthetic", and it really takes away from the watching experience. What beats me is how the hell they thought the new clone designs wouldn't do this.
“The Cleo that knew how to manipulate people using her looks?” You mean that they took something that was true to Cleopatra’s history and character, then completely ignored and negated it? I am shocked. Shocked! … Well, not _that_ shocked.
And then flanderized her into a pretty popular crazy girl, undermining all her intelligence because pretty girls are all evil ??? Wow...... never heard of that one before
From someone who never watched the original series, nor cares to watch it, the only thing I can't stand is how they went from having an original and creative style to appearing cheap copies of total drama. The design of many of the new characters look like fan fictions, and even so there are fan fictions with better designs
Funnily enough Total Drama creators have stated that they lifted art inspiration from Clone High (they're both Canadian cartoons), so it looks like it's come full circle lol
I find it funny how the writers forgot Frida and Harriet WERE in the original series as background characters (Harriet was to have a speaking line, but it was cut out). Just shows how the new writers really knew very little/misunderstood what they were working with
Letting college age kids write tv shows is like letting teenagers write your show. Letting teenagers write a show that was made to PARODY teenager oriented content is like having children try to deconstruct children’s media.
i agree to a degree but at the same time having older people (boomers) write teenage characters often leads to portrayals that feel dated or out of touch with the actual youth cosuming it. so maybe a collaboration would be ideal? where everyone gets input and can veto decisions. just a suggestion, idk if that would be an actual solution
You can tell the new writers missed the point by the interviews. They stated they didn't want to put highschoolers in "problematic," situations. Ignore that they are not real teens and its ment to be satirical.
Lmao it was mocking the shitty reality tv that put people in awful situations for drama, they don't feel confortable risking the wrath of liberals anymore sadly ...
Anybody that hates s1 Abe is missing the point on why he's the way he is. He's pandering to the everyman oblivious teen drama character that doesn't know his friend has feelings for. hilarious you can tell the new fanbase takes the show so seriously😭
I think the only time i laughed at something in this new season was when principal scudworth and mr butlertron were on the screen they are such a comedic duo 😂😂😂
The new clones designs are just so unbelievably ugly. They look like someone chose random on all options in a character generator. Harriet is easily the worst of them imo. Frida is also pretty bad because of the ridiculous amount of colors but at least they had her notable monobrow.
At least Frida and Topher's designs are good and you can get somewhat of a sense of who they're supposed to be the same can't be said for Confucius and Harriet
So basically boils down to new writers too narcisitic to ever dare mock The things they unironically Love, and too out of touch to understand how thats a problem while writing satire 🤷♂️
In only the second episode they make a “joke” about the writers room of the 2003 show being bad because there was only *one* woman on the team. So what? The 2003 guys knew how to write comedy which was why they were hired! 🙄
@@SchmergDergen she didn’t. The one woman from 2003, Erica Rivinoja, is now the show runner and she is well known for having more misses than hits and is probably the main reason why season two feels so off.
It's like the writers of the first season were kidnapped and replaced with the ones from Velma. No seriously, their style of writing is so eerily similar that it's almost uncanny.
@@SchmergDergen They used elements that are famous within the Clone high Ao3 fan fic. by borrowing fan ideas for they show the show was been written by fans.
The anxiety of taking the test could've ended with Harriet Tubman clone to make an underground tunnel to free people from taking the test and the unmoral of episode is don't take tests.
The joke that pissed me off was the Seamen joke. South Park called a character Seaman 20 years ago, and treated the joke for what it was, juvenile and good for a small chuckle. Clone High S2 writers make a seamen joke, it's not funny even from the get go. And yet, they are seemingly so proud of it that they parade it THREE times through the episode. That is genuinely embarrassing and the writer should feel embarrassed.
I find it hilarious how they started off by parodying never ending "will they won't they" of two main characters that doesn't work as a couple and ended up doing it unironically Star vs Forces of Evil/Miraculous Ladybug style.
I've definitely noticed a trend of Millennial media being a lot more cynical and satirical with at least some level of actual "irreverence" (not just a Netflix buzzword to mean that it has some sex jokes), whereas Gen Z media wants to play its lessons and morals and everything dead fucking straight and seem to make sure that nothing actually controversial happens. Both extremes can get exhausting in opposite ways. It's tiring to be cynical all the time and you start to crave sincerity, but the whole "everybody gets a journey, everyone needs a character arc, we need to make a moral statement and send a message that's relevant to today's youth!" thing is seriously emotionally exhausting and obnoxious. I just want some simple jokes without PSA morals from my middle school days, damn it! I don't care if I'm an old woman yelling at cloud!
Literally the moment the words "There was no way you would be able to guess this character was supposed to be based on Harriet Tubman" hit my ears was when I realized she was supposed to be based on Harriet Tubman. It quite literally had to be spelled out for me...
What pisses me off is the subreddit for this show says "The humor is exactly the same." When it's not, it's really different now and it's noticeable, it makes me think they didn't watch the first season and only clips from it.
29:41 Reminds me the LG_T community of my old college. Booted the bisexuals for “passing for straight”, booted anyone who was too masculine or had facial hair, and booted anyone who wasn’t flamboyant. And they wonder why support for them dropped. Hell, it sparked strong anti-pride sentiment on campus among those who had been wronged.
@@8nicopink868 Trust me, that college was full of some real backwards types, including this sophomore girl in my business management class who believed we didn’t need farms, because we get all our food from grocery stores. Harriet looks like a Total Drama OC that was drag and dropped into Clone High, and I’ve also heard people say that Confucius looks like a Fortnite skin.
This is the ultimate monkey's paw. You desire something for so long that it becomes a living nightmare when it comes true! It's a deadly wish, one you can't return.
From this video, it sounds like Lord and Miller went the same route that Matt and Trey Parker did for a few years in South Park. Both pairs started off by making fun of common Hollywood tropes and generic moral messages, but over time were given so much praise (and lived/worked in Los Angeles for too long, probably) that they started to believe their own hype and began acting sincere in their parody show. But the entire reason they became popular in the first place was BECAUSE they were satirizing Hollywood.
Thank you for clarifying how they massacred my girl Joan. She was my fav in the first season and I was confused as to why I was so dissatisfied with her getting screen time and this video helped me figure it out. She was meant to be the straight man: not the centre focus. Also the conflict and cliffhanger of the finale was so damn contrived on so many levels. The characters (who at this point were already derailed beyond belief) had their levels of idiocy cranked up to a 30 just for the plot to make a molecule on sense.
39:58 Probably worth mentioning that Topher's design is like that cause they just lifted his design from Season 1 when he was just a background character
I think Harriet Tubman would have been a better character if she was strong willed, and heroic. Who has opposes most authority(like punk rock kinda?). I could see her being an activist character like her historical figure. She could be the rational voice of reason against cancel culture and a good opposition to Cleo and a narcissistic Frida. She could be the straight man against social trends and "Popular kids". She could uplift and help the unpopular, "weird" kids, and those ostracized. She can also be used as a way to poke fun at the performative activists (your idea of Kahlo & Cleo) and represent the real ones who actually care about social issues. That's just my idea, tho bahah, sorry for any bad English, btw
@icecreamhero2375 that is true, but considering the direction they took Joan in (her joining the popular group) I think it would be nice. Since maybe Harriet could help Joan have that "oh crap I have become what I hated" moment. Idk if I'm making sense haha but if they really wanted to keep the aspect of Joan losing some of her ideals that made her who she was season 1, I think Harriet would be cool to help her "see the light" bahaha.
@@spacefrog69 When I started watching the season I thought that was the point, that Joan was a poser and now, with popularity in her hands, she changed sides. Your idea for Harriet could work great, I can even envision an aesthetic of afroamerican ghetto/graffiti artist styles on her, but she needs defects (the point of Clone High is that nobody is a good heir of their genefathers, that everyone is terrible one way or another) and I propose her being too jumpy and ready to revolt (if the writers dared to do it, it would be actual social critique, but probably too touchy for today's America)
@enriquejoseantequerasanche6180 ohhhh yes, yes! That sounds amazing! I didn't even think of that. It's such a good idea, and it really does seem the writers wanted to make Harriet jumpy and excitable, so your idea definitely works! Thanks for your input. It added more depth to this idea!
You know something, People keep talking about the 2 creators of the series, Phil Lord and Chris Miller but not acknowledge the 3rd one, Bill Lawrence, aka the creator of Scrubs which also tried to return with a sequel season of sorts similar to Clone High called Med School...that should have been a sign that bringing back Clone High was a bad idea from the start.
I think the main thing that this show and a lot of the fanbase suffers from is a lack of media literacy. They take EVERYTHING in the show so seriously, like claiming some characters are horrible while others are angels, while not understanding that the point of the show is to make EVERYONE awful. They don't understand the parody of it
@syrpwafy Oh yeah I'm a huge fan of the show, I think the main reason why most of the fans love Topher as a character is because he matches the same awfulness that the characters had in the first season, it's much safer to poke fun at him rather than Harriet Tubman who did such amazing things
At least where I come from (Singapore), Confucius usually has a reputation for being basically a stereotypically hierarchical conservative Asian, promoting stuff like filial piety (translated: "you ALWAYS have to obey your parents"). They could've gone with making CH's Confucius actively rebelling against real life Confucius's trad Asian views basically, mirroring how the younger generation of Chinese people are actively rejecting the conservative values of their parents and elders, but man I'm bummed out they didn't go that route for him
What’s funny about Gandhi in real life was in his college years it was said he actually was a fun loving partier. Depicting Gandhi as that in the show was actually pretty accurate to how he was when he was young and not that insulting if you read about his time as a youth, also weird how people were mad about Gandhi’s depiction when the guy was overtly racist and a pervert but making him a party animal is where they draw the line.
As a certified Frida lover, making her so chill because she'd be too stoned-and-or-stupid to understand the danger she's in is about the onky preferential point i agree with. It would be fucking HILARIOUS.
The worst part about it to me was that there are like four genuinely good episodes that made me glad the second season happened, problem is there’s like 2 mid ones and the rest are actually bad like bad.
I’m so glad you brought up the violence, I was shocked when I saw that they had blood in nearly every. Single. Episode. They did this show so dirty man. I was hopeful for s2 :///
Yeah, I basically gaslit myself into liking season two, but I've broken out of that and realized how shit it is. I used to tell myself "well, it was flawed and not as good as season one, but it had its moments" but after rewatching a few episodes from season one and two, it's like night and day. I couldn't even finish some of the season two episodes, I felt embarrassed watching an unironic teen romance drama about real historical figures.
Gosh, I really hated all the diss on Abe. I'm gonna gatekeep for a minute and just say that came from everyone that did not grow up with all the melodramas back in the 90's and early 2000's. Abe was never neglectful towards Joan. In fact, he was one of her very best friends that supported her genuinely. The joke with him is that he was oblivious to not only her feelings for him but to everything around him. You were suppose to laugh at how her obvious flirting flew over his head, not take it seriously. None of the characters were suppose to be taken seriously. That was the entire purpose of the show to make fun of teen dramas during that time. I guess because so many people confuse meta humor with satire these days thinking it's both the same and it's not. Satire makes fun of topics or shows while meta humor just have the characters be aware of the show or tropes they're in. And I hate to say it but I just think that the creators just grown out of this type of humor with how much they've learn and grown from other projects that they can't recreate the reason why Clone High had its edge.
Some of the best people involved with Star Wars are massive fans of Star Wars, so isn't just being a fan that's the problem. You also gotta have some genuine skill in your craft, and some stories you wanna tell with it. Just being a fan of a piece of media isn't going to lead to it being good, but that won't necessarily make it bad. Neither will hating a piece of media.
One thing I really did not like was the change in reason why Joan and Cleo did not like each other. In season 1 it was their love over Abe and how Cleo had him but was not really into him (until the final episode of the first season) while Joan wanted him for the hole season (until the season finale of the first season) and because of this Joan found Cleo ungrateful for Abe's love. Other than that they had no reason to interact with each other and they would not have a problem. You could say that Joan was jealous of Cleo but that jealousy was mainly because Cleo had Abe. But in the "second season" (reboot) the reason is that they just did not like each other and blamed it on the writing of the first season, which basically takes away the funny part of their relationship and turns it into something that is just stupid. This basically means that Joan is just jealous of Cleo for no actual reason. Which takes away from the character depth they are trying to achieve.
I like to think that Season 2 wasn’t great starting out because Lord and Miller (plus some of the writers) were busy writing Spiderverse. But after they were done, they picked back up and wrote the last few episodes
Yeah like episodes 9 and 10 felt like they were going in the right direction for the series. It’s not exactly like what the first season 1 was but I feel with time they can hit highs as good as season 1 but season 2 isn’t it
IDK 20 years can really change a person and their writing style. Look at popular comedians and celebrities from the 2000’s like Seth Rogan or Will Smith - they’ve become shells of their old selves and have lost what made them popular in the first place.
That's honestly a dumb excuse. Like this was more of a passion project that got another go after a random spike of popularity and the main writers being behind it wanting it back (while becoming insanely popular themselves). And after 20 years, a year worth of teasers, they couldn't have made sure their other obligations were done with beforehand to focus. Or at least been able to over see more then just the tail end of the project? Just seems weird.
@@NEEDbacon Actually, you have a very valid point. Those two have been talking about wanting the show back for years on end. They even freaking included a reference to the show in the first Spiderman movie, so you'd think they'd actually care about this.
It speaks volumes that the only new character that fans have latched onto is Topher, because, like many have pointed out, he’s the only new character that seems like he could have been from the first season, in terms of design, personality, antics, and how he relates to the historical figure he’s based on, both personality and design-wise.
I remember saying one of my criticisms was “they do too much referential humor like a lot of modern shows” and I got angry comments saying “you dumbass, that was the whole point of season 1 as well.” I think you put it into a better perspective: season 1 played with tropes of teen dramas with a cynical edge and very little reference humor while season 2 does the opposite…and has legit drama instead of tongue and cheek cynicism.
I'm with you entirely. As a big fan of the 2003 series, I wanted to like it SO so much. But I just didn't, the revised theme song was just about the best part of it and only because I got to hear Abandoned Pools again. (And Rhyming "Unfrozen" with "Disclosin'" is a personal highlight.
I wanted to like this so bad that I kinda tricked myself into thinking it was good but overall yeah this was a bit of a letdown. Hope they improve with season 3
Season 2 and 3 for the reboot were made during the production of season 1 and I think they're almost fully animated too so no I don't think they'll improve at all
The abe canceled thing could have been handled better so easily. Like instead of having marilyn manson as a background gag, you could have had abe defend him using the angle of "well I had a positive experience with this person so they can't be that bad" without even being aware of the allegations. Or even him being more naive to modern culture with sexual identity and the new characters overreacting to it
Turning Clone High into an unironic teen drama is like if they suddenly made Homelander a good guy and the next season of The Boys was about him and the Seven fighting crime as superheroes
@@alexgomez6723 No, it wasn't and I'm not sure why some people thought it was. The entire first season was extremely tongue-in-cheek and self-aware. Everything was coated in layers of irony
Something I had a really hard time getting past in the new season is that they changed Cleo's voice actor but her original voice actor was still in the show as a different character! I guess it was so the actor would have more screen time as Candide but it was really distracting.
I also know it's been years since Kennedy's VA did the voice, but he desperately needed a vocal coach to help get him back into character. He's constantly high pitched and way too excited. Idk who's writing for this series but they don't seem like they don't understand the original run that well.
I never heard of Clone High before 2020. Even with all the YTPMV use of Gandhi's "Say What" line back in 2010, which I saw a lot of, it never hit me that clone high existed. That being said, every time someone mentions that they unironically hate Abe for being a simp, I roll my eyes. 1. How can someone take this show so emotionally seriously? It's a parody, not a drama. I understand loving a show, but it's treated like it's all serious. 2. Let's just actually treat Clone High seriously for a second and forget it's actually a parody. What is keeping me from seeing Joan as a simp? At least Abe had a relationship with Cleo. Joan got fucking nothing and yet she was still chasing after him. Is it cause she's sincere? Isn't Abe sincere to Cleo? It really feels if you take it seriously for a moment, Joan and Abe would both be simps, yet only Abe gets that label cause.... why? 3. So... we're taking this shit seriously so Abe can't possibly be this ignorant... OK... Abe is just ignoring Joan's love advances... OK, that's his choice. Why does Abe HAVE to be with Joan? What if he wasn't into her that way? Doesn't that matter? It feels really hypocritical that Abe has to love Joan just because... What if someone made that same argument with Abe and Cleo? Nobody would take that argument seriously. I'm honestly not shocked Clone High's second season failed as it came from a misunderstanding from the writers in the first place. It only takes a scroll from the RUclips comments of one of those compilation videos to know that the people watching have no idea this was always meant to be a parody. I don't like gatekeeping people from liking a show, but at some point, you can't keep the gates open to just EVERYONE. Cause then shit like this happens.
Bruh, you just brought back like, a long dormant memory when you mentioned those Say what Gandhi YTPMVs, I watched the absolute shit out of those when I was too young to be using the internet and like knew about those maybe half a decade possibly before even finding out what Clone High was.
I was with you until you advocated for gatekeeping. It doesn't work. People will just ignore you, and you'll look like an asshole. The writers chose to go with new fans' headcanons, and it's shit. Gatekeeping would not have prevented that.
@@ashcommittedarsonbutinasexyway "...you'll look like an asshole." Yea, I don't care about what some idiot with an opinion thinks about my opinion making me look like an idiot (I'm not referring to you). If people are gonna warp something I love into garbage, I'm gonna die on that hill defending what I love. What you're advocating for (intentional or not) is for the surrender of my thoughts to the masses and agree with the people just because of numbers. If people took an anti-war message and started warping it into a pro-war message, would you still use that argument to not gate keep an artistic message? I don't really care what it makes me look like, I care about the truth. Not to mention, this video is a form of gatekeeping, even if Just Stop doesn't want to admit it. It's making sure people understand what makes the show great and that other people's takes on it are not good. Gatekeeping isn't exclusively saying someone can't enjoy something. It can also mean preserving what makes something great and ensuring others do the same as well. Like I said, I hate telling people they can't like something, but I'm not just going to let people say things I believe to be untrue leave them untested, like Season 2 being good, or even just OK. "Gatekeeping would not have prevented that." Again, don't care. It's the ethics involved in preserving something, not about it's effectiveness. Once again, I'd rather die on a hill defending what I love, then just surrendering my thoughts to whatever the majority says. People can have their thoughts on something, but I can still say they're wrong and explain why. Holding the majority opinion doesn't make one right.
@@androzani I haven't heard of that definition for gatekeeping. Of course you're allowed to have your opinions and share them, and critique others' opinions btw just to be clear, when I said "you'll look like an asshole", I was using you in a people in general way. And when I said gatekeeping, I specifically meant gatekeeping in fandoms
It's actually hilarious that the only episode i particularly liked, the one that was about mr Bs backstory, doesn't feature any of the clones and is a parody about cliche backstorys to explain weird parts of a character
DUDE THEY SHOULD'VE HAD CONFUCIUS SAY FAKE DEEP SHIT ALL THE TIME!! That would fit him trying and failing to live up to his clone parent, and make him a good parody of a teen drama stereotype.
Fr! And like, even tho Frida wouldn’t have polio it would be nice rep to have her as an ambitory wheelchair user since those don’t get a lot of rep. Have her have a weak leg like the original Frida
Ngl thats a sick idea, not to mention how they couldve made fun of ignorant people and ableist by having the main cast react to it in a exaggerated way that pokes fun at the concept of disabled people being "soecial" or "miracles of life" instead of just.... people @@voguishthrone5887
It's sad how season 2 just doesn't live up to the old clone high. I also really don't like the whole forced inclusion and trying to seem self aware about forcing said inclusion. Also having abe start off saying stuff he has never said before in the first season just to show that "times have changed and certain things aren't acceptable" was so awful and out of character. If anything jfk should of been the one to fit that role due to how he treats women (besides how he treated joan to an extent since he did seem to genuinely connect with her but in season 2 it felt so forced and not like they had actually bonded.) Edit: in regards to Ghandi they could of had an episode where he was revealed there was a mistake and he was actually a clone of someone else who just looked like Ghandi. It feels like such an obvious thing to do with this situation.
To call the 2nd season of Clone High a train wreck is an understatement, I think it's so bad that it shouldn't have even existed in the first place because of how disrespectful, painfully unfunny at times, and pandering it is compared to the 1st season and even if it's others opinions, I'm still flabbergasted beyond belief that some other RUclipsrs like Nicktendo think it's up to par or better than the 1st season. Also they shouldn't have EVER hired any writers that hated any of the characters like Abe, it's a catastrophe waiting to happen and no one else should hire writers like that as well. Edit: Forgot two words in the last sentence.
Honestly having ANY writer hate ANY character should be an immediate no go. I can get having a character that's off to the side, or meant to be hated, but Abe was the main character. Who sure had flaws, but was part and parcel in being the MC. And was apparently hated for the stupidest reason of the writers not getting a joke. ANNOTHER notch for why they should have been hired.
I'm of the opinion that flippancy and a general lack of sincerity has been a major problem in modern writing, whether it be in films, games or TV. I even point to a lot of L&M's work as examples of modern writing that aren't afraid to have sincerity and make it work. It seems that they've let that mindset influence them TOO much. Maybe they think that making Clone High have genuinely sincere lessons is parodying modern shitshows like Velma?
45:38 If your wondering what that text blurb says its "The joke is that they're trying to save the stupid cafe and thats like the Goonies movie or some shit idk I'm tired while writing this"
Harriet Tubman should have been an obnoxious rebel and you can’t convince me otherwise. It would have fit perfectly for her to try living up to her original reputation with that. They could’ve had Confucius be a “nice guy” who thinks he’s the smartest guy ever and tries explaining things to others. Could’ve been nice. Have Frida be the stoner artist who is really permissive and carefree. Keep Topher the exact same. Please. He is amazing. Undo the character assassinations done on Cleo, Joan, and JFK, and you have yourself a great series. Maybe have Joan be confused about what she wants after Season 1 and have both Abe and JFK chase her and fight over her. And have Cleo be resentful of the new clones and trying to outmaneuver and outwit them to get back to her throne.
I think a main quality they forgot was that in the og season EVERYONE SUCKED. An that's what made them likeable. Joan was "not like the other girls." Abe was the annoyingly clueless everyman, Ghandi was often just a bad friend, Jfk was a bully and cheater, and Chloe was a mean girl. Topher was the only character in the 2nd season who still retained this formula. Like at most points I felt like he was written by a different team. Because I'd zone out for like most of the episode then Toper would randomly say some wild ass shit. I personally think they kept him this way because he was already a cancelled white guy so they didn't have to like him.
This is why when I see fandom comments like “Fans write characters for (insert media here) better than the writers themselves *insert sassy emojis here*” makes me roll my eyes. Because 90% of the time they reduce characters down to basic cookie cutter traits that they would stick on any other character from anywhere else, or just completely change their personality to something they personally like more EVEN IF IT’S NOTHING LIKE THEY ARE PORTRAYED ORIGINALLY. (Examples include Voltron, MHA, and so on.)
Look at modern abridged series, it's always one note, oh we made them all a holes great writing, older abridged series with different characters having exaggerated extensions to their personalities were great. Creativity for fans seems pretty dead these days.
@@toekneemart5597 I'm not quite sure what this has to do with what I typed, yes there were trash series out there and most of the older series had their garbage variants, but most times every character wasn't one note even in the trash versions.
I think when people mention that, they arent talking about the fandom writing as a whole, but like the good 10% who do an excellent job writing fanfics of the series
I noticed that the side characters almost never get to do anything in this season. Unless their names are George Washington Carver or Sacagewea, then the writers use them literally every time they need extra clones for something. But even they don't get to have personalities.
Legitimately, who the fuck was in charge for designing Harriet Tubman? I didn’t even know it was supposed to be HT until it was stated. Why is her hair pink? My theory is that they wanted an African American in the main cast, made one, and used the first female Afro American historical figure they could find.
The first couple of episodes were definitely a train wreck, but the last two episodes were very good, episode 9 being one of the best episodes in the entire series in my opinion. I also heard that the last couple episodes were written by writers from season 1, which would explain why they were so good. I just hope that going forward the show stays as good as the last couple episodes of this season.
I love how episode 9 uses different art styles for Mr. B’s past! My favorite one is either the first one (which looks like a mix between 30s cartoons and the 50s “UPA” artstyle) or the second one.
Great work, as enjoyable as it was correct! I would have loved to see Harriet be a comedically forceful 'I know what's best for you' character without regard to whether people really needed her help. The real woman was said to pull a gun on anyone who got cold feet in the middle of escaping (practical at the time, considering the consequences), and just that one bit would have been enough to tie her to her clone mother, even if they might have had to show her threatening/committing violence in a way that didn't involve firearms. There was definitely more to work with with the new gen clones--Confucius struggling to make complex ideas into pithy soundbites for clout, Frieda milking any horrible situation for art that people nevertheless had to admit was cool, Sacajawea being hypersensitive to the idea of group projects, etc they just needed to dig for it more, and it didn't happen.
The thing about Frida's design is that she was already in the old Clone High as a background character, and she fit in sooooo much better then because she was a part of the first season and their color palettes back then. Idk if anyone else noticed her, but it was in the episode where JFK turns Gandhi into a version of him so he could get a school dance date
Like it felt like they brought in "New Genz" because they would go with the Vibez. Like each of the old and new characters could have been these. Abe: He starts to have feelings for Joan but is oblivious to the fact that she's dating JFK. So, he would try to get with Joan, with the characters trying to tell him to move on, but similar to how he was in szn 1, he would ignore their wishes, but in episode 4, would let his feelings of Joan go. Only for Joan to realize that she still has feelings for him and breaks up with him to get with Abe. Only for him to be oblivious to the fact that Joan wants him again. With the final episode them getting together, only for everyone to get their minds erased for the new school year. Joan: She would hate being popular, and would always stay in the shadows/background, but due to her friends and JFK, she is forced to continue being popular and taking the place of Cleo, until purposely she gets herself canceled, with Cleo taking her place in the friend group. But JFK still dates her in secret. She then breaks up with him, since he clearly wants an open relationship, and despite loving him, also loves Abe still. She would then get with Abe, before her mind is erased. JFK: He is still a dick, tho still charming. He at first struggles to move with the times, but he is able to adapt, while showing his true self out of private, still making mild remarks, just not saying it in public, in fear of getting canceled and losing his popular statis. After breaking up with Joan, he then starts to hook up with random girls, even Harriet and Frida. Causing him to start fall into his old habits, but Cleo and him get back together, do to their toxicism not being able to match with any other person. Cleo: Since she is not popular at the beginning, she tries to use her looks on JFK, which doesn't work, but ends up using her looks against Frida, who ends up falling for her. Tho after Cleo joins the popular kids, by using her looks, she's able to become the top dog again, with her trying to make how things were in 2003. But after Joan tries to rally everyone... it doesn't work ad Cleo is still the most popular, and gets back with JFK, before losing her memories. Frida: Although she seems cool, she is pretty dumb, and even though she's a pretty bad singer and ass at song writing, she pays people to fix her voice, which has allowed her to stay popular. She ends up falling in love with Cleo, but it's obviously one sided, though due to her ignorance she thinks Cleo really wants her, and writes her a terrible song from the heart, which Cleo uses to kick her out the popular kids, with her still thinking that she's a part of the cool kids. She also tries to hide her sexuality and is the main drug dealer threw out the school. Harriet: Harriet is the wannabe school president, wanting to lead women to power, but due to her rage, and loud personality, she is very hard to approach. She is very adament, and is really paranoid of her popularity, so bad that she ends up being Cleo's rival, as their both smart, pretty, popular girls, with her also fiending for JFK, but doesn't realize her childhood friend, Confucious has a crush on her. Confuscious: The guy who tries to be chill, ad mysterious like Jughead from Riverdale, but is actually very sensitive and somewhat. loud. He always tries to make up a deep backstory, he just ends up being boring, do to this he has become self-conscious and Werry, thinking that he might not be the guy he wats him to be. I don't know what tf I just wrote, maybe im high right now, idk.
UGH THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! And may I add that Joan and JFK STILL could've worked out (at least for a little longer) if the writers had stuck with their original personality traits? Like, Joan is kinda violent in season 1, and so is JFK, they could gang up on goobers and JFK would teach Joan the fine art of teasing/bullying while being able to keep a cool kid status, or beat the crap out of people who deserve to be bullied! But NOoOoOo! We gotta sanitize them because they're the main characters! JFK could still be a bit of a flirt, maybe that would cause some issues between him and Joan, but it's just not like him to not flirt with at least 3 different women, if not do more than that! Also, why did they make Cleo an idiot?
Honestly they could have turned jfk into even more of a flirt, since body positivity is kind of popular. It just means there's even more people for him to sleep with.
The thing about the cancel culture episode is that Abe is vilified, but in the first series none of the characters ever used slurs like Abe did in the renewal. So not sure why they even put that in.
The whole thing with Abe specifically, amplifies a problem I have with how people interprets other people. So many people defaults to the idea thag everything must be done with malicious intent. Nobody ever does anything accidentally or with good intentions but just accidentally screws up or makes it worse. No. If you do something mean to someone it's always because you intended to do so
So lemme get this straight; the show started gaining popularity with new audiences (cool!). So instead of doing what made the show great, they tried to pander to that new audience only to kill its popularity…. Wonderful
I suppose Clone High is another proof that the era of Sitcoms is simply over. It't great that they want to make a more meaningful story with actual progression, but that goes against the very principle of Sitcoms.
Anybody else think the reason reboots of decade old media can still suck even if the original people who worked on them are on board is because they lost the old spark that made them good in the first place?
@@natsuki7325 Yeah, I'm the opposite. I've only heard people dunk on it. Maybe a few people say the later episodes are better, but no one say the whole season is good.

Ironically, i think there could’ve been a way to make Joan the protagonist and “popular girl” in a far more natural sense
Do a “goth girls are super popular in the 2020s” joke and basically have her in the protagonist role against her will
you could even continue the abe joke by making them both have crushes on each other because he gave up on cleo, except now he’s too insecure in himself to ask her out and doesn’t know if she really likes him or not (even though she’s still explicitly telling him she likes him every episode
@@wren_. Either that or have Abe get Cleo, only for him to realise that "Joan was the better person"
Except, in Clone High fashion, they could spin it so rather than Abe realising that Joan was better because of how nice she was and supportive of him, it could be for something petty that Cleo does.
That would have been more in line with her character. They really missed a comedic opportunity. Insecure and simp Joan was just not funny
This show was 100% written by a bunch of stereotypical chicks who think that every popular girl is dumber than them
Its crazy just how lost the history is in this show.

@@은지-u3c2o I get that Clone High Joan isn't actually Jeanne, but Jeanne took her own immense popularity with grace and humility.

@@sleeplessstudios7626
Frida Kahlo was born with several health issues, her childhood was filled with surgeries and she lived in isolation from other kids.
They divorced and remarried (with an agreement of living together but without having sex)
The last tragic incident in her life happened when they had to amputate her leg due to a gangrene infection.
As were Confucius and Frida Kahlo.

Many fans are too indulgent to portray the necessary nuances.

They would have had way more comedic value if they would have gone with a Chairman Mao Zedong clone instead. I know Tumblr isn't dead (because I use it), but it's more the TikTok folks when JFK quotes got popular.

The only clones I genuinely liked was Topher and Frida
I've never watched this but Confucius has the WORST character design I've ever seen.
Same! Confucius is fine but not much to him, same with Harriet (no wonder they dated for 2 seconds)
Hate Frida's hands tho. Just seems really inconsistent with the female design rules in the show to me

That's exactly what happened. Why doesn't this comment have more likes? It's so on point.
@plunkpianist Hi!
whatever matt and trey are doing certainly doesn't fit clone high. only south park can south park
39:58
Probably worth mentioning that Topher's design is like that cause they just lifted his design from Season 1 when he was just a background character
Oh my god why
Wtf? Why didn't they do that with anyone else?!
That sounds too much like Joan.
So just another activist character? Lmao, amazing. Exactly what we need in modern Western media...
They could've gone with making CH's Confucius actively rebelling against real life Confucius's trad Asian views basically, mirroring how the younger generation of Chinese people are actively rejecting the conservative values of their parents and elders, but man I'm bummed out they didn't go that route for him
This is truly fascinating I had no idea 👍
What’s funny about Gandhi in real life was in his college years it was said he actually was a fun loving partier. Depicting Gandhi as that in the show was actually pretty accurate to how he was when he was young and not that insulting if you read about his time as a youth, also weird how people were mad about Gandhi’s depiction when the guy was overtly racist and a pervert but making him a party animal is where they draw the line.
Him being racist was also something that he grew out of.
As a certified Frida lover, making her so chill because she'd be too stoned-and-or-stupid to understand the danger she's in is about the onky preferential point i agree with. It would be fucking HILARIOUS.
@@Caterpillartears you are a strange little man
The worst part about it to me was that there are like four genuinely good episodes that made me glad the second season happened, problem is there’s like 2 mid ones and the rest are actually bad like bad.
Which are the good ones? I haven't been able to watch the show (it isn't in my country) but I would like to know what the good episodes were like.
@pr3pkurz Did you also basically gaslight yourself into liking it?
And I hate to say it but I just think that the creators just grown out of this type of humor with how much they've learn and grown from other projects that they can't recreate the reason why Clone High had its edge.
letting fans write any piece of media will always kill it. i’ve learnt this lesson NUMEROUS times throughout the years.

@@Caterpillartears it's almost like you did not watch it
I like to think that Season 2 wasn’t great starting out because Lord and Miller (plus some of the writers) were busy writing Spiderverse.
Who the hell knows.

The abe canceled thing could have been handled better so easily. Like instead of having marilyn manson as a background gag, you could have had abe defend him using the angle of "well I had a positive experience with this person so they can't be that bad" without even being aware of the allegations. Or even him being more naive to modern culture with sexual identity and the new characters overreacting to it
I'm surprised JFK wasn't cancelled, based on Season 1, he seems like he would be the first one hit or right after

Something I had a really hard time getting past in the new season is that they changed Cleo's voice actor but her original voice actor was still in the show as a different character! I guess it was so the actor would have more screen time as Candide but it was really distracting.
It was because Christa Miller didn’t wanna voice a “POC” so they got an Iranian lady to voice Cleo and now she sounds as basic as ever.
Question, is Cleo's new actress a part of the voice cast because I'm sensing a pattern.
Ohhh now I hate the show even more.
@SchmergDergen then why the hell an iranian is voicing Cleopatra, who is supposed to be greek?
I had no idea Gandhi or the “Say What” meme were from Clone High until I watched a video on the series by an old RUclipsr I used to watch.
I was with you until you advocated for gatekeeping. It doesn't work. People will just ignore you, and you'll look like an asshole. The writers chose to go with new fans' headcanons, and it's shit. Gatekeeping would not have prevented that.

Yea, I don't care about what some idiot with an opinion thinks about my opinion making me look like an idiot (I'm not referring to you).
"Gatekeeping would not have prevented that."
Again, don't care.
Of course you're allowed to have your opinions and share them, and critique others' opinions

If anything jfk should of been the one to fit that role due to how he treats women (besides how he treated joan to an extent since he did seem to genuinely connect with her but in season 2 it felt so forced and not like they had actually bonded.)
Edit: in regards to Ghandi they could of had an episode where he was revealed there was a mistake and he was actually a clone of someone else who just looked like Ghandi.
It's a train wreck that you _actually_ want to look away from.
its as respectful as third birthday is to parasite eve, but atleast third birthday has a shitty dev cycle to excuse it being bad
That sounds like a clone high we should have gotten

I feel like the last four episodes were actually good.
Especially the last two.
Those last two were pretty amazing.

@@ZekeorSomething I don’t know the Cleo episode was pretty bad too.
So not sure why they even put that in.
it's their hamfisted way of addressing parts of the show, or parts of the era it was set in, that 'didn't age well'
Cause abe is a "stupid white male" in the zoomer eyes.
Wonderful
"Way, way back in the 2020s,
several uncreative dummies,
dug up a show that was funny,
to ruin it and make some money."
I do
They successfully destroyed clones high's reputation. That's nice
Im just so disappointed that the main focus of the cancel culture episode wasn’t Gandhi because that would’ve been hilarious
THANK YOU HOLY CRAP I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT HOW MID THIS SEASON WAS
im pretty sure a ton of people already have
@@nbewarwehonestly I just hear how much people “love” it. So to each there own I geuss
@@natsuki7325 Yeah, I'm the opposite. I've only heard people dunk on it. Maybe a few people say the later episodes are better, but no one say the whole season is good.
@@nbewarwe I've only heard people loving it or defending it hard so far barring this review.
No, mid is too nice, its bad
