WHOA??!! I NOMINATE THIS VIDEO AS BEING THE MOST IMPORTANT VIDEO OF RUclips.
You, sir, are one of my newly-found heroes in life.
It’s been a few years since, but you have changed my life forever and I’m so grateful and thankful. I feel like I owe you, Doc.
Seriously, thank you very much for all that you’ve done, do, and will continue doing for people.
This world needs millions more doctors like yourself and few of my other newly-found hero doctors.
If this world had millons of doctors like him and people listened a lot of doctors would lose their jobs! I agree with you. Unlucky that some people don't want people to be healthy. Dj Khaled is right, lol.
Bootlicker
This guy is pretty cool eh?
Dr Mike is a RockStar! I've been following him over three years.
@@louismazzone4730 Since 2009 for me...saw him in a "Vegetarian Society of Hawaii" youtube back then!
Dr.Greger is the health & wellness
🔥OG🔥❣️
All information is free/ no agenda/All profits from books and speaking engagements go to charity. These days, it's hard to find anyone to trust, but here's the man/ doctor you can❣️
Once you've sprouted them a couple of times, there's nothing easier. So thankful I found out about broccoli sprouts.
Thank you!
I wish you'd been around when my mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2000.
SWEET! I just ate a big red cabbage and broccoli salad so I guess that was the right choice on a sick-day. I've never tried growing sprouts but my mom used to do it all the time. Thank you for the very simple instructions, I'll try it!
Totally adding broccoli sprouts to my kale Smoothie
Have been growing my own broccoli sprouts for a few months now. Super easy to do and I put them in my smoothie every morning. They taste a little grassy but hey, hopefully they'll bring a healthy payoff!
I put red cabbage in my pink lentil soup. Delicious and super healthy.
Love this, I sprout these on the regular along with kale, green lentils, and buckwheat & it makes it so easy to have extra living foods in between market trips
I gotta try this out!
I love this channel! This is awesome!
Wow I'm impressed by this concept and I'm going to try it 😁 .
I gotta try that. looks tasty. I love the sprouts from the store.
How about red gabage sprouts vs brocoli sprouts?
This is and has always been one of your very bests
Somewhere I read that one cup of broccoli sprouts is equivalent in anti-oxidants to eating three pounds of fully grown broccoli? Wow.
Michael J. U read it on a youtube channel lol
@@patvalle3596 ok but I feel him, we’re all... hereee.
Great reminder! BTW, Gary Null was saying this back in the 90s. Love your channel!
Thank you, Thank you Thank you. At least I have a true answer to live long and grow old graciously.
Oh, that's good stuff.
Thanks
THANK YOU, best channel on youtube.
I have some of those; just started soaking some this morning before knowing this!
Just started my broccoli sprouts yesterday. 🌱 To buy the already sprouted broccoli seeds, is about $6 for 1/2 cup here locally. 😲 Yup DIY Love Dr. Greger
I have been doing this since watching the video. It’s easy and fun! Thank you thank you thank you
Any tips? Like maybe a funnel?
Great Idea! I will look forward to do it
WOW, I'm gonna try this.
love these short videos;
and the comment below -- maybe e coli is a problem with large scale producers who have to use fertilizers.
Thank YOU !
Love this
FANTASTIC I JUST FOUND THIS WONDERFUL VIDEO RESEARCH INFORMATION
Thank you 💚🌱💚GENIUS!!
I do this regularly. I usually keep two jars going. Just add the sprouts to my salads. It's easy as can be, takes only a few minutes a day.
great video, channel and advice
Brilliant.
Awesome
Which brands and sites would you recommend buying the seeds from?
I wonder if they are easier to digest then broccoli. I have a hell of a time with cruciferous veggies. I still eat them all the time but they are worse than beans for me. I will try some sprouts.
Wow!
callmeCaylor, I've watched a few other broccoli sprout videos (ones with very good ratings like Dr. Greger's) and they say to leave them on the kitchen counter but NOT IN DIRECT sunlight, if this helps. I've bought the broccoli sprout seeds and I only have one mason jar but am going to try this probably this weekend!
awesome
beautiful video,just beautiful♡
that was really good
I've had very bad luck germinating broccoli. Good luck with your supplier.
Oh, I do think your great, and sprouted broccoli as you said is great. No beef there. Thanks!
coooooooooooooooooooooool.
Wow.
Niiice!
Dr.Greger for president
Do a video on Hemp Dr. Greger I think most people want to see the results of that greenery....and then eating Cannabis as a food I want to know if theres any benefit to eating the buds and leaves
(Everone should copy this message to all his new videos till he makes one)
Oh awesome! I've been growing these for 9months now. I love them!!! I grow them differently though.
I keep my broccoli sprouts jars in rotation.
is the amount and absoption of sulforaphane the same in broccoli sprouts in comparison to broccoli seeds? So the question is is eating seeds the same or are sprouts more beneficial when sulforaphane is the goal?
But how much to eat ? And do we freeze it to get stronger
Any difference in chopping or eating whole? Can those be cooked too?
i like the casual earthy way you roll out the ideas . next stop : ebay for some seeds
yea so uhhh im pretty sure this cured my cancer. it was progressing despite a regimen of chemo + meds and I started eating a ton of broccoli sprouts after researching their anti cancer properties and I've been in remission ever since
Great vid as usual... though doesn't that cinnamon picture show the toxic variety?
So just to verify: does eating broccoli sprouts count as eating a cruciferous vegetable?
That's what broccoli is. A CRUCIFEROUS VEGETABLE.
It is the definition of a cruciferous vegetable, there is nothing more cruciferous than broccoli sprouts. 100x more than broccoli.
So which offers more bang for your buck, the seed, the sprout, or the micro green?
How about purslane?
I love red cabbage, the best way to have ıt ıs thınly shaved. Yum :)
So do you eat these raw?
And they taste like Broccoli too, yum.
+Peter Hall - Actually they taste like.... Radishes.
(To Me)
how do you stop mold from growing on yours?
Citric acid www.vitacost.com/now-real-food-broccoli-seeds-for-sprouting-4-oz
i'm curious if you need to put it under direct sunlight or perhaps under a uv lamp in order for the sprouts to grow better. if anyone know please get back to me.
There are organic broccoli seeds in the gardening center at Lowe's Home Improvement store. It costs $2.50 a package. I don't know the exact amount per package, though.
Growing a little bit of food here and there is a great way to save money, but if you want to be completely self-sufficient and not rely on anything at the grocery store from now on, then you have to grow crops that are high in calories - like potatoes, sweet potatoes, wheat, and rice; or you will starve by eating less calories than you need per day. Sure, it's a great way for weight loss, but it's not sustainable lifelong. You may have to fast and ration out your food supplies, especially during the Spring, because that's when your food supply will run low, and you'll need to go out and plant next year's crops. While planting, you may need some external help, like your family members and friends. There is a reason why people in ancient times relied on plants and animals to live. Animals were eaten sparingly, because they had to be hunted down, fished, or taken right from the garden. Essentially, they were hard to get, so the consumption of animals was very low, compared to plants. But animals still provided a good food source. Nature does not select for "right" or "wrong". It selects for whatever characteristic that helps an organism to survive, and eating animals really helps in survival.
Of course, nowadays, people don't need to eat meat, because someone else (the minority of farmers in an industrialized society) is already doing the job of growing food to feed the majority of society.
What happened to the graph? Where do broccoli sprouts land next to purple cabbage?
Thanks I had the same question
Not bad, kind of nutty.
Is it just as healthy to consume broccoli sprouts SEEDS??
No. Eat the daily dozen and use Cronometer nutrition tracker.
? Is it ok to replace all adult leafy greens by their sprout form or would i be nutritionally missing some benefits ? I imagine i would be missing fiber... I have health issues(ms), need to maximize my regiment, hoping for your feedback
Juice sprouts and microgreens your concentrating a constraint maximum healing power. Also fiber is very important. Jah bless you and yours
Does the jar need to sit in the window sill to get sunlight or is it ok just on the kitchen counter?
No sunlight required
The title of this video could also be : "How to extend your life by 5-15 years at virtually no cost."
Nice...seems cheap! But I would add...is it important to have the most antioxidants...or rather to have enough of them? So what is enough?
Organic flaxseeds 1.9€ for 400g that last at least a few weeks.
how many legumes are too many or excessive? i don't understand
Aroma reminiscent of, but not the same as, broccoli. Not a lot actual taste (bit spicy), but relatively nice crunchy texture.
Is it necessary to limit the seeds in the jar to one tablespoon?
Too much growth
Where did you get these seeds?
Amazon.
I wish I could stand the taste of sprouts.
You can put them in a smoothie with fruit
okay we now how to make the sprouts. How do we preserve it and prevent mold.
I believe your are meant to eat it once it is ready.
How long do they last once ready?
Matt gnkkui
Put them in the frig
Get a sprouting lid with mesh on top and leave the jar upside down pretty much all the time. If you’re rinsing twice a day and draining it upside down all day there will be no mold. As soon as the jar is full, eat up and store the rest in the fridge.
cool what does it tast like
Spicy/peppery
Where do you find jars with the screen on top? I’ve never seen that before.
Amazon
They're pricey tho. Just cut double ply cheesecloth in place of the netting. Works great.
Are sprouts bacteria poisoning dangerous?
Will freezing kill bacteria?
It’s actually the toxins the bacteria make that damage you so if you freeze you’ll pause further bacteria growth but any toxins will remain.
It’s imperative to keep rinsing the seeds when sprouting - that should do the trick 👌
Once you get past the smell your good.
what's wrong with just grounding the broccoli seeds and adding them to a smoothie or other drink?
Sprouted Pulses, Wheatgrass, Alfalfa etc are the the best nutritionally! Broccoli is a good anti Cancer food, so Sprouted Broccoli seeds must be super anti Cancer.
I'll stick with the red cabbage, much easier and I like it.
😁 Bom dia!
yes but why do you equate antioxidant level with nutrition ?
Umm... Because antioxidants are microNUTRIENTS
Umm ok but life isn't always that one-dimensional. Just because these are micronutrients doesn't mean it's got the most nutritions out of them all (remember there is more than antioxidants...) so saying these is the most nutritious food but listing them ONLY in regard to antioxidants is a bit weird to me as well... not to you? I'm not an expert myself but it did seem strange since it can't be JUST about antioxidants
@@jawashasalan56 He's focusing on antioxidants because those are the types of nutrients that tend to have a protective effect against disease. They are also the type of nutrients that most people (in the United States at least) tend to not get nearly enough of from their diet. Of course broccoli Sprouts don't have all the nutrients we need to be healthy. He never said to eat nothing but broccoli sprouts. What he is saying is that of the nutrients they do contain, DIY broccoli sprouts have the highest levels per dollar as compared to any other choice.
Of course one could argue example that rice is cheap and has way more carbohydrates than broccoli sprouts do and that would be correct. So no, it's not JUST about antioxidants. However unlike carbohydrates, antioxidants are nutrients that most people should be trying to get more of in their diets. A lot more. DIY broccoli Sprouts are an inexpensive way to do that.
Sounds good to me......
Indian gooseberry is the real value for money
you cook or eat raw?
where is the cheapest bulk price for europe
Damn this is just planned by a mastermind goddamn. You're smart Dr Greger, you're goddamn smart!
No you're just dumb.
Why not lentil sprouts? Even cheaper, since whole dry lentils are $1.50/pound vs. $20/pound for broccoli seeds.
Do older people need to be cautious consuming sprouts?
At the first look,I thought it was purslane, that we cook as a vegan side dish in Morocco 🇲🇦.
I eat a cup a day, home grown.
In another vid, he explains that the sulforaphane content peaks on day two of the sprouts.
Where do you buy them, guys? I want to make a local close system where organic waste is use to grow veggies and maybe even add some insects to the system. That system will not deplete topsoil.
Vitacost has them. www.vitacost.com/now-real-food-broccoli-seeds-for-sprouting-4-oz
