I couldn't agree with you more this is my favorite song by Supertramp the song takes you on a story just incredible lyrics and musicianship Rick songs were always my favorite by Supertramp.. regards from Grand Island New York
At the time this was filmed Supertramp was the best band on the planet all the members were serious musicians and hands down Asylum is my favorite song you just look at RAY singing this song it's phenomenal people. Man do I miss these guys..
Supertramp were a British rock band that experienced massive global success in 1979 with their sixth album Breakfast in America. It's from wiki and nobody revised it
Supertramp Live in Paris 1979 is my favourite "live" album it's fantastic such great songs Aslan Made in Dublin comes a close second but yeah the Paris album is a belter..😎
The amazing aspect about this song is that it is the conclusion of the A side of the LP. B sides weren't taken very seriously. A support of strings was introduced at this point as Rick did a masterful job keeping the anticlimactic from happening after Roger's over the top, quite soggy 'cake left out in the rain' "Hide in your Shell."
Roger managing to switch guitars during the outro is insane (I genuinely don’t think it’s edited either. You can hear him briefly stop playing when Rick says “But what kind of friend are you”). Took me several viewings to even notice
Apparently John mentioned in an interview that they added a few overdubs to the Paris album, which was used as the audio for this DVD, so that's probably why
Actually, I take back my previous statement. I was recently watching another performance from this show and realized it didn’t contain the overdubs that were heard on the Paris LP, which means this clip of John was actually just badly synced-up lol
You mean Buffalo New York and Minneapolis Minnesota thats where Supertramp broke and had their biggest fan base... You got what two cities in Canada or hoseierville... How could Canada have the biggest fan base????
Jimmy Cream was keen His brain was always winnin' I can't keep tabs on mine It's really quite a joke I see him down the road I ask if he'd be willing To lend me 15P I'm dying for a smoke Don't arrange to have me sent to no asylum I'm just as sane as anyone It's a just a game I play for fun, for fun I told 'em "Look!, I said I'm not the way you're thinkin' Just when I'm down, I'll be the clown I'll play the fool" Don't arrange to have me sent to no asylum I'm just as sane as anyone It's a just a game I play for fun, for fun Will he take a sailboat ride? Rick . lol. Rick Davies: It has been a Supreme pleasure to have been part of his audience for all these years, so many cool memories of the 80s spring to mind while he performs.
The more I watch these performances, the more I think that this was one of the best rock concerts ever.
no doubt after first time
Agree 100%
One of my top 10 favorite albums of all time!
Totally agreement!
it was and still is.
🎶👌🎶
One of the best themes in Supertramp discography, in my opinion, if not the best, with Another men´s woman... Regards from Spain...
I agree with you both written by Rick
I couldn't agree with you more this is my favorite song by Supertramp the song takes you on a story just incredible lyrics and musicianship Rick songs were always my favorite by Supertramp.. regards from Grand Island New York
My favorite Supertramp song it's a masterpiece Rick knocked it out of the park man I miss these guys they were simply brilliant.....
Best show I ever seen
At the time this was filmed Supertramp was the best band on the planet all the members were serious musicians and hands down Asylum is my favorite song you just look at RAY singing this song it's phenomenal people. Man do I miss these guys..
Rick has such an original sounding voice. It took me a while to appreciate it but I love his voice.
Dougie's bass part is a thing of beauty - important to the melody while still locked in with Bob
What an underrated band. Can’t believe this masterpiece has only 30.000 views…
Just curious we’re you alive when Supertramp was popular?
Cause I was and they were on the FM stations everyday for the better part of a decade.
@@Rock_Snob yeah, there were times after an album dropped where you couldn't get away from them. 😊

unfassbar, es fehlen 10000000
I think it's really fun to listen to Supertramp!
I agree! Their music is so great. Sometimes I set aside times just to listen and do nothing else but appreciate the music!
the "turn" of the song in time 1:45 is remarkable, with the entrance together of the band. make me chill!
Yes , quite right ! And listen to 2:55 too , when John Helliwell plays with 2 little bells !
Great performance. Supertramp one of the best bands ever.
What a lOveLy afternoOOOOONnnn
What a really really really really great band they were 💕
Wie soll man soetwas besser machen?Das hier wird noch in 200 Jahren gehört werden 😊❤

Aslan Made in Dublin comes a close second but yeah the Paris album is a belter..😎
This album and "Two For The Show" by Kansas are my favorite live albums.
What a beautiful song!! From a legendary band!

Fool on the hill
That hook is transcendent, good god
“Transcendent”…how so…?!?
@@Oh_I_Will First time I heard it my headphones ascended to godhood and busted through my ceiling
They have a lot of great songs, but this song is amazing
I play this every time my boss phones me from work 😂
Is no one going to talk about the Banana and Gorilla dancing at the end?
That was great! 😆
@@timfool i thought it ruined the emotion of the song
In an article I found it said that the newest member of the road crew had to wear the gorilla suit
When he dusts his fingers off to chime the bell. Impressive
Roger managing to switch guitars during the outro is insane (I genuinely don’t think it’s edited either. You can hear him briefly stop playing when Rick says “But what kind of friend are you”). Took me several viewings to even notice
My fav track fav band take a bow lads superb.
Verdaderos genios musicales. Bravo, bravisimo!!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Bob Siebenberg is an awesome drummer
Bob had to be great as Rick as a drummer prior to him was a masterful percussionist himself.
Agreed. He gives great dynamics to every song. Especially in Goodbye Stranger when he kicks off Roger's guitar solo.
he said this song is one of his fav to play
Magnificent!
Magnificent Duo And Band !
Dedicada a la memoria de mis padres familiares y amigos dep en su memoria.
brilliant !!
i feel he's talking about me, but then again i could just be nuts
Wondered how at 3:39 John Helliwell stopped playing the sax but you can still hear it?
Apparently John mentioned in an interview that they added a few overdubs to the Paris album, which was used as the audio for this DVD, so that's probably why
