Normally I hate the word "underrated" as the most over-used word in RUclips comments. It's almost always wrong and undefined as to who's putting it down. But when the movie came out so many critics and fans dissed the movie, saying there was nothing new, it was just trying to repeat the original. Hey, nobody knew what made _Ghostbusters_ a mega-success, so they did their best to come up with a sequel, which came after a successful animated TV show! It gave us an adventure, some new music and lots of laughs. And this was 20 years before "nostalgia" was a thing to sell tickets to a franchise-movie.

One thing I can't help but enjoy about this scene, besides the "BURNED AT THE STAKE!" bit, is the fact that Louis and the Ghostbusters are portrayed in an energetic light despite the carnage. Even Egon who's normally straight-faced and serious can't help cracking a joke or two.
I’ve seen judges do this in court occasionally - some really do like the sound of their own voice. I used to observe trials as part of my my law degree. One trial I observed, I was waiting for the judge to talk about burning at the stake, they had the same tone as this judge 😂
“Burned at the stake” is really out of line for a judge, but the writers needed an “anger trigger” to get the goo fully energized and move the plot along.
This scene is haunting, as it proves that the Ghosts in this series are not just random spiritual creatures/monsters, but are in fact the disembodied & corrupted souls of dead people
Well, the first movie established that too with Eleanor Twitty (the library ghost), the dream ghost, and the Chinatown ghost (alluded to in one of the news reel-clippings of the montage).
This film came out when I was in 3rd grade (and an obsessed Ghostbusters fan). We did a lot of "Do-Re-Mi" scales in music class and I could never stop myself from yelling "EGON!"

I had a friend who didn't understand how people could think the Ghostbusters were frauds after everything that happened in the first movie, and I told them that it proves the point that there will always be people who will turn a blind eye to the truth, even if they see it with their own eyes.
I mean tens of thousands of people literally saw one of the largest UFO sightings ever in Phoenix Arizona back in the 90s. It was filmed from multiple angles and there is footage of it and many other events both clandestine and even official military footage all over RUclips but does anyone believe in it as truth? No. All it takes is some propaganda to shut that down.

My two boys (at 3 and 4 years old at the time) when this movie came out, got the Ghost Busters suits along with the whole set, the ghost traps, back packs and the Suits for us (mom and dad) for Christmas in, I think in 1990. They saw the movie and on Christmas Eve they had so much fun with their kits, they kept running around the house in their PJ's saying, "oh no the Socleri Brothers!"
This is one of the best, greatest, and most ambitious scene in cinematic history. We as the audience know that ghosts are real and after the events of the first movie it's become clear that people do believe in ghosts however there are some really big sticklers, then we get put into this really realistic movie court scene with some oddball dialogue and a very very real fire and brimstone judge and it's when the ghost show up that he realizes that all he believed is a lie, what a scene man.
I always thought that since Louis mispronounces "restraining order" by saying "mistrangement order" that he meant something else. Never figured out what, though.
I figured it out! After thinking about what kind of word he could mean to use in that situation, it turns out he was likely saying the guys would be INCRIMINATING THEMSELVES.
If you think about it, the courtroom scen foreshadows his apperaance at the museum in full busting gear. He's nervous and unsure at first, but in the end does what has to be done. Same thing when he suits up. He knew they'd need help in there, so he stepped up to the plate and claimed a Neutrona wand.
Louis Tully is a low-key powerhouse. He had every chance to run for the nearest open door when the ghosts popped up, but he didn't. He stood by his friends and even hung back in case he was needed. When Oscar was found out on the ledge, he immediately ordered Janine to call 911 and when he was taken, he knew he had to find the Ghostbusters. And, of course, at the end, he suited up to put the work in. If he hadn't been there, Vigo the Carpathian probably would've won.
1:31 I love the judge's face right there, it's like he's saying "Stick to the facts as that made absolutely no sense at all. What kind of a lawyer are you?" Hilarious.

Along with Bill Murray chaos, cats and dogs living together. Sigourney Weaver has it all. Beautiful, makes my teeth sweat. And there's not a word in the english language that can describe her acting talent. Writing, the best,. Cast , the best. Bill Murray ad libbing his lines in every movie he does , gold .dan ackroyd , I would need 8 hours just to start. The most thorough acting genius ever. Thorough is an understatement. Watching all of them from 2nd city to SNL to movies . The 70's and 80's was the best time on history to grow up. RIP Harold Ramis. Genius. And kind, down to earth human being. The look on the judge's face was priceless after Louis ended his statement with the part where he turned into a dog. The judge was staring at him like, "What the hell is this guy talking about?" Also when Louis began his statement to the court, he was about to say "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury," but then realized that the jury box was empty and substituted "audience" for "jury." Just goes to show what a lousy, no-good lawyer Louis Tully is.

The scene before this with the Museum creator's glowing eyes scared the shit out of me when I was young. Also the growl that the Scoleri brother's make at 7:30 has stuck with me since the first and second movies. It's also the sound of the growl that I love, just sounds unique.

@@landonletterman831 They may also have been trying to provoke the ghosts into reappearing, like what Zack Bagans does on Ghost Adventures. (The wife is a fan.)
"The Law" does recognize the existence of ghosts, at least insofar as selling haunted properties goes. My former insurance agent told me his company had paid for condemnation of three properties for being haunted. One of them was the house in Detroit referred to in Ghostbusters. He told me that the insurance agent was asked to inspect the house, by the police, as a crowd had gathered outside drawn by weird lights and sounds. The family had already fled. He walked into the house and immediately saw a section of a wall was bleeding. The agent went back outside, told the police "Total loss." The property was bulldozed within days and the lot was condemned, never to be built on again. And one of the East Coast events was, if possible, even weirder.
Try Bedtime stories. There was an incident in California where a young mother bought a haunted residence. She moved, but whatever it was followed her. It's unclear, but it seems her negative attitude triggered some poltergeist activity. But who knows?

Peter's whining about the pack's weight isn't acting. Reitman confirmed Murray was the biggest complainer. Aykroyd said he designed the slime blower to purposely weight Murray down, but he and Hudson wound up wearing those.

For years after watching this as a kid, I was convinced he yelled out 'BANNED FROM THE STATE!' 😳
For them it's another day at work.
@@deepsubs Hahaha, i think they would prefer that contrary to being burned at the stake rofl.
This scene is haunting, as it proves that the Ghosts in this series are not just random spiritual creatures/monsters, but are in fact the disembodied & corrupted souls of dead people
I think they mention demons too
Well, the first movie established that too with Eleanor Twitty (the library ghost), the dream ghost, and the Chinatown ghost (alluded to in one of the news reel-clippings of the montage).
They're not souls. They're psychic echoes. The stronger the echo, the stronger the spirit.

They saw the movie and on Christmas Eve they had so much fun with their kits, they kept running around the house in their PJ's saying, "oh no the Socleri Brothers!"
RIP to Ivan Reitman. Thanks for all the memories, and may you reunite with Harold Ramis to deliver more fun in the hereafter.

The timing and deliver of Mr Murray is absolutely impeccable hahaha
I figured it out! After thinking about what kind of word he could mean to use in that situation, it turns out he was likely saying the guys would be INCRIMINATING THEMSELVES.

5:57 I always loved Louis's. "And that's me!" He may be dweeby and hesitant, but when the s**t really hits the fan, he steps up!
"I'm here with you, guys"
“And you don’t want us exposing ourselves” Only Bill Murray can make that line epic
Should've seen him in Streets of Fire.
If Tully had the bells like Billy Fish, the case would've been over without incident.

The agent went back outside, told the police "Total loss."
The property was bulldozed within days and the lot was condemned, never to be built on again.
And one of the East Coast events was, if possible, even weirder.
Wait what house in Detroit?
I’m intrigued, is there anyway to learn about these incidents?
Try Bedtime stories. There was an incident in California where a young mother bought a haunted residence. She moved, but whatever it was followed her.
