I love that Venkman is sliding down the pole with his Chinese food and the cleaning lady is trying to put out the small fire with a cleaning product. It's little things like this that makes this movie about proton packs and ghosts seem realistic.
I also like when Peter is taking about how much it will cost. You can see Eagon’s hands make a 4 and a 1 and Peter looks directly at it to know how much to charge him.
The dry humor and delivery of Bill Murray's lines is amazing
“Its looking at me” 😂
No idea why but that line always gets me
_i think it heard you ray_
Love the way Egon signals to Venkman what to charge!
I just now noticed that decades later. Such good acting!
You probably saw it on VHS, outside of seeing it on theaters if you did. The VHS copy was pan & scan so it cut the sides off to fit the 4:3 aspect ratio, So that sadly cut Egon out of that shot.
thats the first time ive noticed that, and at 48 years old, I have watched this film so many times too.... good one.
It took me years to realise that awesome 😎
Ray: "He's a ugly little spud isn't he?"
Venkman: *quickly* "I think he can hear you Ray."
Slimer: WHODAFUQSAIDTHAT?! *Looks at Peter* IT WAS YOU?!!? BLAHLAHLEBLAHLEH!
@@jeremyallen5974 Venkman AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
“Don’t move! It won’t hurt you.”
(Slimer charges at Venkman!)
02:40 “What the hell are you doing?!”
“Uh, sorry.”
😆🤣😂
Venkman: "Sorry, we thought you were someone else." *turns to Ray and Egon* "Successful test"
"I had no idea it would be so much, I won't pay it"
"Well that is ok, we can put him right back in there"
I just love that.
@javaman7199...........I agree that was funny... another thing that was funny that I had NOT Noticed untill about 5 years ago.. AS Venkman was writing down the Bill for the job they did. Egon was useing Hand signals in a subtle way to Venkman which matched the total of the Bill.............I've seen the movie many times over the years and never noticed it untill about 5 years ago. when ever the scene came on I was focused on Venkman not Egon.. then one day while watching the movie I noticed what Egon was doing..... I know it sounds funny even though Egon is standing next to Venkman I never noticed what he was doing............that type thing happens in other movies I've seen I over look something untill much later.
Always amazes me how that cigarette hangs off Rays lip when he sees slimer.
The origin of the bogart.
7:58 THE FLOWERS ARE STILL STANDING
"Disgusting blob" 😂😂😂 i love that line
The SFX in 1984 were stunning
Indeed they were. It was an Oscar Nominee for VFX. It lost to Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, but its impressive that it was still nominated.
Wait until you see the original, unaltered, unspecialized, unchanged and unraped STAR WARS (1977) I saw it with my father. The audience were blown away, in shock. It was a shockwave after that, all because of the milestone breakthrough visual effects by ILM Richard Edlund & team.
Peters jumpscare when the manager rushed to them and he goes jesus 😂😂😂
I love how Ackroyd's cigarette hangs vertically from his mouth when he 1st sees the ghost. 😂
THey said it was an accident. The cigarette was supposed to fall directly to the ground, but it stuck to his mouth for a while, and that made that shot so funny they decided to use that one.
I can do that trick.
This was undoubtedly one of Bill's best roles of all time 😊😊😊
Bill Murray's pandering of the hotel manager 🤣
I love the way the way Ray said to Pete, Actual physical contact
I love how shaky the pole was after Akroyd slid down it. Nice sturdy prop.🤣
There will never be another Ghostbusters...
One could claim they're extorting the building...on the other hand, I'd wager a high class joint like that would stiff the exterminators too.
Spengler:I blame myself
Venkman:So do i
They just don't make them like they used to😂
The flowers are still standing!
ta da!
"He slimed me!'
In the spanish dub is even better. He sais 'Me ha moqueado' that can be translated to 'he slimed me' as 'moco' means basically 'slime' (well, it means 'mucus'; but it's used as slang for anithing slimmy, gooey and generally disgusting) but also sounds almost exactlly like 'Me ha noqueado' witch would mean 'he has knocked me down'... so he it would be the perfect word to describe been thrown to the ground and been covered in slime at the same time...XD
Generally in spanish humor there is not sutch a big love for puns like that; but in this case is SO fiting and so in tone with the character that its really nice
Saw this in the theatre, and I remember then they first fired up those proton packs. You could hear the rumbling around the entire theatre. They sounded very powerful and dangerous.
They are very Dangerous indeed. The battery lasts 500 years on them im pretty sure Egon said in the 2nd Movie.
@@atomicaaron0394 He said the power cells have a half life of 5,000 years
@@masonblankenship7677 ah yea seen that. My bad lol
I looked at the trap ray Lmao😂
I had heard that the part of Peter was originally going to be John Belushi. But, due to his untimely passing in 1982, the part went to Bill Murray. After all these years I can't imagine anyone else in those rolls, but having learned about that and being a big John Belushi fan, I think it would've been interesting to see how John would've handled the role.
Or bill murray AND belushi
04:52
Ray Stantz: Don't move, it won't hurt you.
Peter Venkman: *[screams]*
this scene is so never gets old... and nostalgia ever
1984-2024
#Ghostbusters
I remembered when this movie premiered here in Hawaii, there was a protest rally on the ‘abuse of spirits and entities of the neither world’… and I can see why… the way those ghostbusters bullied and captured Slimer into a tiny little box! Poor little guy! 👻😄😁😊
Remember it is offensive to call them spirits or ghosts. They identify as mortally challenged.😂
I love how venkman said each of us has a unlicensed nuclear accelerator on our back
It's the power on sound for me lol

The best part
What a fucking masterpiece of a movie, man.
That poor hotel manager was never the same. After he was abducted and made the head of security as Krola in Star Trek, he was so opposed to Earth that he tried to frame Riker in order to stop his new world from meeting Earth's ghosts.
Slimers an 80s icon 👻
"What the hell are you doing?!" I laughed so hard at that part when I was a kid
Love it when he sees slimer and his ciggerette just hangs from his lip like that. I wonder if that was intentional or it happened and they just kept it.
Ray misses hitting slimer. Slimer directly goes for Peter. There is no fire alarm going off with the walls burning. Okay it's mid 1980's building safety standards, and the hotel is probably older--but still.
Production notes call him "Onion Head"
The comedy elements in this are superb
I’ve just been slimed
Wow, this scene is so much better than anything in Frozen Empire.
of course, its called character development, frozen empire had nothing but filler characters and so much that you had NO time to explain any of their backstory
heck in gb2 slimer was more featured and became a gb mascot of the films
In the lift switching on nuclear accelerators: ‘No Smoking’ 😂
I just thought 💭 of something
In every Ghostbusters TV show and movies we dont know anything about Slimer.
Like where did he come from?
Was he ever human? If so how did he died?
Why does he hang around with the Ghostbusters?
Its a real head scratcher
Egon does his tie before he descends down the pole very civilized :)
I got Titanic passenger vibes from that hotel manager, until I realized that's Michael Ensign, who played Benjamin Guggenheim in "Titanic".
Ghostbusters is the G.O.A.T. of supernatural comedies.
I feel so funky 😂😂😂😂
It's kind of like welding you know
In theory this is the closest to a pokeball
Bill Murray looks a bit like Eric Banna 😂
Imagine if they made a mistake and killed the maid..
Ghostbusters doing life 😂
Never knew slimer was based on John Belushi. Never to old to learn.
0:45 no ghosts allowed in New York City (NYC)
I got to sit in that car turn the sirens on I was 15 years old was at a car show in Montreal.
The hotel scene is hilarious. Ray damaged walls , they shot at the cleaning lady’s cart . Damaged tables in the banquet room, knocked a chandler off the ceiling . They probably cause 1k in damages 😆.
_yeah, we can do more damage that way_ 🤣
Guess that's why they charged so much.
The grey lady and slimer my fave ghosts 😂😂 slimer used to be a mob boss he ate himself to death the grey lady was murdered by the collector
what Egon says at 6:48 is funny -- Egon is sooo smart, he doest say DNA
Hey man great movies
Slimer is not really bad, at least he's not evil like Gozer, he's just mischievous, that's all.
$5k plus $200k in damage. 🤣
$5K for the removal - quite a bargain. The damage to the ballroom would’ve been a lot more than that.
$5K.
That’s like a happy meal today.
Pre-CGI era, and so much better effects
Whe I was a kid I didn't understand why the cleaning lady was just slightly bothered in that scene. Later I understood this is supposed to be NY in the 80's. She's probably seen some shit. LOL
Ты меня выручил,ну всё побежал?
Fun Fact, the slime is KY Jelly.
Who ya gonna call?

2:42 peek a boo.
Who wants to be a Ghostbuster?!!!!!!
He'll, they did a couple 100,000 damage . Inside the ballroom
5,000 Cost $
The no smoking sign looks so out of place
In the 80's, people just smoked everywhere. You were lucky if you could get them to stop long enough to take the elevator. It sucked!
@matthewbanta3240 they did in the 90s and early 2000s too. This movie was edited when that started to change.
