I just had a phone interview for a ramp agent position for the Oakland, ca airport. Was offered a full time at $13.80 per hour. Living in the bay area, this wouldn't even cover my gas, let alone my mortgage.
James Horner I totally get it. Most would be homeless with that amount. Can you ask for part-time and have another side hustle?
I got 15.25 part time customer service in southern cali, it isn't enough either but the free travel is so tempting
Today I had my one on one interview for AA and got hired did the paper work it was a lot and now I just have to do my drug test, and fingerprints I have been watching your videos and it has helped me a lot 🙏🏽
Oh my goodness. I’m so excited for you! You’re gonna love it!!!!
I got hired recently for fleet service agent. I have to come in for my paperwork. Will I do the drugtest and background check the same day?
good job Love to speak to you about your interview

I've made it through to the next part of the interview process for AA! I taught myself the basics of the sabre reservations system for this! I hope that makes me more appealing! my dream job 💗
Alysha Fox yay!!! Praying you get the job!!!!❤️🙏🏾
Awesome! But, how did you get to learn it? Where?
Thanks for tips and I got the PAA (Passenger Assistant Agent) job at United! Didn’t do a group interview. It was basically two behavioral questions and asked me about my past experiences with passengers.
Congratulations! What is a passenger Assistance agent? I’ve never heard of that before.
@@TheBohemianTraveler thanks! it’s basically a mix of wheelchair assistance ,baggage ramp handling and Gate assistance (pointing to the passenger where the tsa line is)
@@huntrrams . Oh wow!! That sounds really nice!!
Your videos are awesome. Somebody just told me about this and I am so relieved I can get such great, honest information. Thank you for your video on bidding! That was a huge questions for me.

I had my interview yesterday with united airlines and got hired, just waiting on my background to clear. Thank you for the tips

Did they test you on the spot?

Hey Javier., Customer Service position?
I’m so confused! So I was hired for SFO (San Francisco). I went to a job fair and everything was done that day minus this physical test. Started the process at the end of Feb 2022. It’s now Mid April and I was told I passed all background tests. I have to go in 4/19 ( my bday ) to complete my last background for the airport badge. Was told I have 1 last appointment and I’m expected to start within a week.. 🤔 Was my process different due to the hiring event?
No. I think that sounds normal. That’s always how it happened with me. Congratulations!
i just got a call back! i got the job ☺️
Congratulations!
Do you have to be super good on computer for ticket gate agent? I have a face to face with a major airline and I’m worried about that . Thanks
No. They teach you everything at training. It’s simple. I hope you get it! Good luck. 🙏🏾❤️
That’s weird I had a group interview and next I got an offer email than I went couple days Later and sign new hire papers. Phl different
Prince99 that is. Congratulations!!
How long did you have to wait for training to start?
I’ve been at different airlines. It’s been everything from four days to like six months. It’s totally going to vary.
Can you choose your airport or do you have to work at the airport in which you applied for? bc I know flight attendant can choose their base in training (If the base is open) even though they applied for a position for another state they don’t live in
Flight attendant is different. For Airport positions, you apply for the location that you want. Once you are there for six months or a year or whenever you’re done with probation, you can transfer to other airports based on seniority and need.
@@TheBohemianTraveler thank you for replying back so fast
Great video!
Thank you so much!
Hi, I got hired on the spot after my face to face interview by "OUR" airlines on Nov. 10, 2021. Did the fingerprints that day on the spot because they had it onsite at the ORD Hub, also I did my drug test the next day 11/11/21. Waiting on the background check to be completed. They have it where you can track the progress so it seems like it's 3/4 completed. How long does it actually take for the background check to be completed?
Congratulations!!! Sometimes it has taken me about three weeks. But we will all depend on the many factors
Do they pay trainees all those weeks?
Emma M yes they do.
Wow thhank u for all this info dodnt like the bid i cannot doo that can they just make it 3 shifts makes it so better n normal thats not koo having second thoughts now for cabin cleaner

I have my interview tomorrow and and I just came across your video… I was so excited until the part I have to leave the state 😢I have a 1 yr old and 4yr old. I can’t leave the state 💔
Don’t worry! You never know. My most recent airline, I did not leave the state for training. We literally trained at our station. How did your interview go?
I'm learning a lot from your videos. I have an interest in working in aviation, possibly as a gate agent, but the low starting pay is kind of a downer. Is there a chance of advancement from the position of gate or ramp agent? And would that be something like an operations agent? Thanks in advance for your help.
John Longdong Thank you!! There is room for advancement in both arenas. CS and ramp are entry-level, but you can advance to management or trainer or operations or other areas within the airline. Don’t let the low starting pay make you not want to do it. If you love it, go for it. The free travel is a game changer. Think of side hustles to supplement until your airline pay increases. Good luck.🙏🏾
The Bohemian Traveler Thanks so much for the encouragement and for the information!

What’s considered acceptable driving record for United? Do you or does anyone know?
I’m not exactly sure….
Love the Channel.. represent the same airline.. subcon... IAH thank you for these points very real and your flexibility has to be on point to work in this industry...
Much appreciated!🙏🏾
For my psa role they did two weeks training with tests getting harder and harder no physical tests those all paper tests and death by power point. The Americans deffo do it a lot more to get the job. Getting a check in job in the uk is pretty chill
Oh that’s so cool. I love the UK.
Hi! I am going for a Customer Service Representative interview with United next week. When I applied, there was no requirement for having a driver's license on the list of requirements an applicant needs in order to apply. Is a driver's license required to operate the jetbridge?
Marianna Bellantoni I’m not sure.....🧐 well I know they had me bring my driver’s license so maybe that is the case. Because yes, we are driving the bridge. For ramp you definitely need it. I’m not 100% sure about CS. 🙏🏾 congratulations on your job offer!
@@TheBohemianTraveler Thank you!
Can you reapply for the same airline at a later time if you fail the urine test
I’m not 100% sure. But I’m assuming you can after six months.
How long do you have to be a ramp agent before being able to move to customer service. How long does it take to move up in the company? Every when do you get a raise?
Every airline is different. But generally after you pass probation which is about six months, then you can transfer to another department. Sometimes it’s one year, sometimes it’s four months or six months. If there’s an opening, they generally allow people that are already internal, transfer before they hire from the streets.
I did my ticket counter training in Newark and Houston when I worked for United express
That’s awesome!!! So neat to be able to experience different cities.
Is the ticket training hard to learn?
That said, if you have a choice is Delta really much better than United in terms of employee perks and benefits and especially when you are ready to retire? I always heard it's like getting into Harvard with Delta and their 8 steps to getting hired finally.
From my personal experience, Delta had more perks than United. I’m not sure if it’s the same now, but when I worked for them, it was fantastic.
@@TheBohemianTraveler in regard to unlimited travel as a non FA,, some airlines do not take airline employees from a different carrier I was told , especially a blackout period whatever that means. From what you said it sounded like UA is loved by all airlines as you mentioned partnering up with over 100s of airlines? You mentioned with UA you can see all 6 continents. So is Delta less of a chance to get reciprocal free domestic and ZED 90-95% off overseas flights plus the taxes? I was told by an AA ramp agent that Delta has no union and let go of lots of employees but that they received the highest salary of the industry of $10,000 bonus whereas AA received $1,200 bonus. He also said if you want job security go to AA a stronger union than United. Please break these opinions and please provide your own and please reply to each of my questions. Thx
@@dmxdave12 I will only be able to answer what I halfway know. I remember when I worked for Delta, I think I had the option to zed with other airlines. Definitely we can zed with united. Delta treated their staff very well when I worked there. I don’t remember many people getting fired from Delta. The average seniority was like 25 years. Many had 40 years. I don’t know much about American. But I’m learning about it now little by little. I’ve never heard of a black out period. With all my carriers, I’ve always had unlimited travel (space available.)

@@TheBohemianTraveler yeah I’m physically capable of doing the job thanks for the encouragement
@@Nxpo_ awesome! Let me know what happens!!!🙏🏾🙏🏾
How does delta contact you for training?? I did everything (fingerprints, background, and physical agility) a couple weeks ago and I’m waiting for an email and call .. what should I expect an email or call?
Every station is different. But many times, you get contacted through the phone to make sure you confirm with them that you received the message. Congratulations! Did you start?
Can you make a video on what shifts look like? And how do trades work? And once you are there for a while can you make your own schedule?
That’s a good idea. I will try to work on that.
Love your videos, I just got the job offer at AA for fleet service agent at Bradley international airport in Hartford Connecticut, They just sent me the email for the onboarding confirmation. In the email it states “if you receive an offer” kinda confused as to what that mean.

Appreciate your entertaining vids & insight into getting hired/ working in the airline industry. I had my 1 on 1 with United at LAX ystrdy for Ramp & was told I passed that stage, subsequently filled out the USPS background & such paperwork, submitted fingerprints, and scheduled two separate day appointments for LAWA badging office. I have couple questions, why would they have me schedule two appointments on diff days as opposed to same day? Lastly post interview they didn’t mention drug screen or physical process & I was still so excited of having advanced I totally forgot to inquire. Is it that they’ll follow up about those via email/ call??
First of all congratulations! That is so cool. I know some people that work at LAX United and they love it. I did get hired once at LAX and they did schedule my appointments two different days. I think it had to do with availability of the appointments. They will definitely let you know about the drug test. Either way, I hope you love it.
@The Bohemian Traveler Thanks, that puts my mind at ease a bit as I’ve read into tons of hiring process experiences on Glassdoor and most mention a drug screen being required shortly after interview stage. Wasn’t too worried about PAT as per Glassdoor that tends to always be after drug screen. Now my worry is being fully vaccinated by time they call for training date as the interviewer said I’d be DQ’d if not fully vaccinated at that point. Originally I was intending on claiming a religious exemption as the HR email mentioned they participate in reasonable accommodation process but the hiring manager said no ifs, ands, or butts. I was shocked & confused but decided to reluctantly take the jab since I really want this job & my ramp buddy there speaks so highly of the job/United. Scheduled for 2nd dose of vaccine Sept 22*.
@@embracethesuck6167 You made the right decision. I feel like if you would’ve

Congratulations on all your Journey so far. You still get benefits part time. It’s totally up to you and what vibe you want.
