Just drove my folks down south in this vehicle they picked up the day before we left. Needless to say being in there 70's they were a bit overwhelmed with the tech... but after I explained to them they just bought a car with autopilot the next 11 and a half hours on the road was FREAKING AWESOME.
For long road trips and slow tedious driving I think this system is great to have. I love driving, but most of us are crushed together in traffic day to day and this system makes life safer and easier.
My exact sentiments. I can see why so many people don’t like the idea of this technology but you just need to try it. I’ve been testing these systems for years now and seen the progression. When used properly, they’re excellent. I have full trust in them and I know they will save lives in the future.
I’m a car guy and love to drive. I just got back from a 500 mile trip each way and it was great! I drove some and then a long monotonous stretches; I turned it on and made for a relaxing drive! Option also comes with 4 wheel steering and night vision. 4 wheel steering makes the car handle like a much smaller car, better that the CTS Sport. Also, so easy to park!
I'm pretty sure that the reason it can still see your eyes when you have shades on, is because it has an infrared sensor, which sees through shades with ease. :)
@@ecomwithTrevor Tesla is not really that advanced, they just put out more experimental software on customer vehicles so their Ai can learn from it. Other companies test things with paid testers.
Very good review Brian. I always look at your reviews of all vehicles. Reason being, you give a complete overview in a time that's not too long or too short. Just right. I watch many of the top guys, like Alex Sykes of Alex on Autos, Tom Volk , Steve Hammes, Sofian Bay of Redline reviews Micah of Kelly Blue Book and others, and you Sir, are among the top Auto journalist's in the you tube world. I really appreciate you and your work. Thank You Brian........All the Very Best to you Sir......Jeff McCargar
Thank you so much for the kind comment. From day 1, I’m not out to become RUclips famous, just like to share my experiences with products the way I’d like to see. If I can help someone else and maybe make a living off it, even better. It’s an honour to be associated with the your list. Cheers and thanks again for the support!
Enjoy your reviews! With more vehicles having these driver assists, will you be reviewing each manufacturer's method of driver assists? I've tried the 2018 Accord's and it's awesome. Enjoyed seeing how the Cadillac's works.
Great technology, developed by an Australian company called seeing machines, current share price of the company is 3.5 pence yes pence not pounds 😉, just a heads up if anyone wants to make a bit of money in the next few years, this technology from seeing machines will also be in Mercedes, BMW and Ford amongst others.
Wrong.. Super Cruise was designed and produced all through General Motors. Your information is wrong. Seeing Machines has nothing to do with General Motors Super Cruise.
Cadillac has a camera trained right on you and watches you face and listens to everything you say in the car. The ON STAR system allows technicians to patch into the car and watch everyone in the car and record everything you say and do and use GPS to record everywhere you go. And when you step out of the car it can record everything around the car as well. Personally I think I would prefer my car not do all the above.
It depends how long it keeps all the data. if you live in a first world country there is law to remove all personal data a company stores about you. No problem with that.
So does this car do stop and go in traffic?? Because you didn’t clarify, it seemed like you didn’t pay attention to the red blinking light and it shut off.
How much is this system again to add to your car? Also is a bit dumb for Cadillac to ask you to turn off the car before using again after seem you have actually took over the driving already. Car automatically deactivated its self is a bit scary and can't change lane on its self is a bit lame. You might as well drive the car your self.
The only thing that should be controlling the car is the DRIVER....this idea is beyond stupid and a liability nightmare. And what idiot is going to buy a $90,000 Cadillac and not want to drive it? A dumb solution in search of a problem.
Such a shame that it is only available in the most expensive Cadillac. Also, I'm wondering if this is going to work in Canada. Since Cadillac is an American vehicle, and it may not be profitable to GPS track all the Canadian highways, I wonder if it will work here. Also, I'm guessing that this will not work in winter when the roads are covered with snow and ice, or will it since it is GPS guided? Sometimes in winter, you can't sell the lines because they are covered in blowing snow. It would be fantastic if you have an AWD cadillac with great winter tires and it would drive itself in winter.
Take a bus, train or plane if you don't like driving long boring trips. Why have a self driving car, that you have to pay attention to where the car is driving??? If you make it an option that people have to pay for and not standard I'm sure people will not pay for this feature.
If you don't want to "drive", take a train or plane. Too much for too little. Vehicles cost too much with all this "safety" content. Why don't why work on reducing traffic congestion, to reduce the cost of driving. Then you wouldn't have to stop the engine when you stop in traffic!
Reducing traffic congestion, yes that would be great. Problem is with increasing population and older road networks, it’s an uphill battle. One solution, everyone takes public transportation. Do you take public transportation? For a lot of people, that’s not an option so for now, driving is the only solution and yes, it’s expensive, especially on the West Coast.
Robert Eckart you must not live in Canada lol. Plane? costs a fortune! Trains? Yes if you want to rely on extremely old technologies! Just the train system in Montreal for example. It works 50% of the time during winter and even when it works in Summer/winter it is overpacked and never on time and really has bad coverage. If you live outside the city, then you are out of luck!

Did they drive straight for that long?

This is one of the best caddalics ever made.
This puts Cadillac again as the most advanced car in the world
Have you heard of Tesla lol

Great review no fluff no music!
This is a hands-on hands-off review! 😂

Great review on super cruise
A cool feature. Thanks for the review.

Sounds like a conspiracy theorist
Your phone already does all that stuff anyway, who cares?

It seems like it locked you out while you were actually still paying attention.
Great Work , Mate.
Cool, lemme get that on the AtS V coupe tho,, white w/tan guts.... that "inside fish sticks outside tartar sauce" n whatnot

Super impressive. When will this be available on a every GM vehicle?
Its a stupid idea
@@chadhaire1711 why? Its brilliant

Level 2

Looks like you really don't what to do with your hands, cool tech though.
Beautiful car but i don't believe in hands-off and I disagree!!

Open pilot user here. Gotta say my long commute is so much easier now with that system. Just takes stress out of the drive.
Agree.
Stuart Lim Why complain about something that you’re not interested in? That’s the real question.
BEAUTIFUL AUTOMOBILE!!! Too bad it will be showing wear and tear after only a couple years and pretty much scrap metal in less than 10 years.
