In urban environments, buses and metros each serve distinct yet complementary roles in the transportation network. Buses, with their flexibility and extensive reach, are ideal for last-mile connectivity. They can penetrate deeper into neighborhoods, reaching residential areas and business districts where metro stations are impractical. Additionally, buses require significantly less investment in infrastructure compared to metros and can be rapidly deployed or adjusted in response to changing needs. In Indian cities like Mumbai and Delhi, this dynamic is particularly evident. Mumbai's extensive bus network, for instance, complements its suburban rail system by providing crucial last-mile connectivity to areas not directly served by train stations. Similarly, Delhi's bus network extends the reach of its metro system, which is one of the largest and most efficient in the world. On the other hand, metros are better suited for long-distance travel within cities due to their high capacity, speed, and reliability. Operating on dedicated tracks, metros can transport large numbers of passengers efficiently, reducing congestion and offering consistent travel times. Metros also have environmental advantages, often being powered by electricity and contributing to lower urban emissions. The integration of buses and metros through intermodal systems, unified ticketing, and transit-oriented development enhances urban mobility, ensuring seamless connectivity and promoting sustainable growth. Effective government policies and investments, along with public-private partnerships, further support the development of an efficient, cohesive transport network in these bustling metropolises.

Busses without bus-lanes are useless. The current implementation of bus infrastructure is the laziest version possible.
Brts would be perfect choice
💯
Why without lane bus is useless buses are used to generally move by choice agar usko lane mai chalana hai toh local metro kya kaam hai
@@tanishjain6146brts are way cheaper than metros

I guess Pune is a classic example of this problem as there are very less mass transit system the buses are the only suitable public transit along with the ultra affordable rickshaws
This causes the PMPML (bus operating body) body to have ultra short routes like Vadgaon Maval to Katraj (both are two poles of pune) which covers distance of only 50km and the punctuality is if the bus comes on right time one can bet their clock isn't working
What do you mean?🤔🤔I am from Pune, so I get what you mean when you say that PMPML is the only suitable public transit. But I did not get your last statement.
I am so confused about the last statement, please explai
@@rohitparida9905sarcasm.pune has few routes with poor frequency mostly connecting 2 corners of city
@@rrajdippawskar9853 i think what he means is if the punctuality of buses on that route is so messed up that if once you see they come on time, it means there is some problem with your watch, the buses are always very late.
@vedantgondhalekar8951 yes exactly and not only on that route but on any route
I think what you are arguing for is a public transport system with end-to-end connectivity in mind. If yes, this is actually a very good point. I have experienced this problem in the Delhi metropolitan area also. Delhi has a very vast and extensive metro system compared to any other Indian city but as soon as you come out of the metro reaching your final destination can be sometimes tricky. Obviously, there are autos and rickshaws available everywhere but I don't consider those compatible or safe with the types of Roads Delhi have. Walkability and safe cyclable road is also an issue in many Indian cities. Sometimes we just need to walk to our destination but It's not safe if you have an 8-10 lane highway in front of you. In India either it's badly built narrow streets or 8-10 lane Highways. Both are not safe from the perspective of walkability.

Never make great the enemy of good. Buses are good enough for many many cities and mass rapid systems (apex) aren't present in all corners.
Anyways, more buses are better than more cars. 1 bus= 30 cars off the road.
We need AC buses to make it a better or equivalent option to personal vehicle.
Ofcourse each transport must be used in perfect conditions but still long distance buses are better than long distance journey in the city by cars with average car occupancy of just 1.7.
PowerTrain is talking about Buses below Metro, meanwhile me thinking about Bus competing with Indian Railways like Nagpur-Nashik, Nagpur-Pune or any other bus routes.
😂😂😂
Bus kabhi railway ka competition nahi ho sakta

Gorai to borivali station
option 1 : Bus 10-12₹ retrun
option 2 : sharing auto 40₹ retrun
option 3 : private vehicle with parking & patrol expense 30 + 30 = 60 return
option 4 : private auto 100-120 ₹ retrun
daily bus timing gets messed-up & people try to go in sharing auto few days later they realise its better to go in there own vehicle because of convenience from direct from the station, thrill of bike , no interaction with strangers , odd stuff buying way home ,waiting in the line & rushing anyways because people cuts the line 😅 its just daily thing for every one now but it can change
I regularly cycle from santacruz to marol and back from work which happens to be around 17.7 kms each day. Alternative is a combination of bus, local train, metro and finally sharing auto. For a 21 year old CA article, cycling this long is better as it saves time and keeps me fit. Fortunately underground metro aqua line 3 will be opening soon and save me a lot of efforts.
Bakwas articulation. Kuch nahi samza.
Yes i use c 72 best bus which runs from bhayandar east to sion the cost of these transport is very less 25 rps for 40 km bus olectea k9 d the usability is very good
Bus unions along with vested interests and politics have made sure that there's no train connectivity with the state capital (Raipur) and my town Jagdalpur except a Bus, ~300 km journey, depriving the people of a safer and cheaper means of transport, we have to pay upto 1000 per person, although Raipur is the main supply hub for almost all commercial goods but still they have managed to deny train services, people including students have to pay dearly because major exam centers are usually at Raipur and without trains we are left with no alternative but buses.
this is quite infuriating and the fact is that no one wants to talk about it.
I feel indifferent towards India's development😢
Now my brother won't get lots of content
At the same time agar in lambe routes pe metro ho hi na to buses are an alternative

A very nice job of explainning Transportation Heirarchy.
Population is major issue of Mumbai. May be long distance buses are the another solution for metro and local trains.
Majority of that population belongs to one community u also know the name of that community
Come to Kolkata you'll change your opinion about buses and long distance and its efficiency and frequency.
There are more than 500 routes operational doesn't matter distance is less or more.
Each bus routes are surveyed of their capacity and the main populated routes get frequency of buses of every 15mins or whatever the set frequency are.
BUT even after having all types of mode of transport in this city the buses remain overcrowded like locals and metro during peak hours. We even have last mile connectivity of e rickshaw and compact fixed route autos.
P.S Mumbai being one of metro cities is the worst when it comes to mode of transport so your opinion solely based on single city is very much biased(unintentional)
Long routes creates support to your mass system directly indirectly dono tarha se that why we have C42 C72 440 40 368 354 C71 and many more which even challenge local and reach earlier then that
Dude I respect your Believes, not practical in mumbai Crowd hi ithna hai Sion to Thane yaha Central Railway bhi bhar k jati hai Aur C42 bhi seat nhi milegi So C42 is not proper utilisation??
Mumbai best service was once the best in the country but in recent few years, quality has degraded and with bmc pushing with private operators, it is gonna do downhill even more . It is the passengers who feel the pinch as now they have to shell out more for expensive taxis and rickshaws
NMMT bus 125 is the longest route from Kharghar jalvayu to borivali station
But dude our very big section of our priramid use bus because they are cheap yeah they use metro but only sometimes it's kind of rare for them so we need as you said feeder one we can pump more bus to streets so we can have good bus transit...mainly we have to focus on multimodal transport connection metro, bus stop, sub urban railway so we can maximize our outputs.
Disagree that buses should only serve the metros, buses should be properly integrated with metro routes as well along with working as feeder option too. Metro fares ain’t cheap hence not accessible to lower income sections, there are various studies discussing the same that bus system should serve as an alternative for the inclusivity option.
You are right.
Bus mainly, metro station se ghar ke paas waale bus stop tak hona chahiye.
Unfortunately Delhi ko chod kar baaki cities me,
Itni metro line hai hi nahi.
Aap kya bol rhe ho? Maine toh comment section mai suna bjp ko metro nahi bus ki frequency badhan chaiye isse traffic Kam hoga?

What you said , the thing I do in Kolkata . So, I am from Hooghly. If I have to go a place such as Deshapriyo Park , a very popular place in Kolkata .
At first I will take Howrah Local to reach Howrah Junction . Then I will take metro from Howrah Station and interchange from Green Line to Blue Line and deboard at Kalighat Metro . Then I have buses to reach Deshapriyo Park.
But I have also the option of direct bus from Howrah Station to Deshapriyo Park but I will never choose that option . First off all the climate of Kolkata during the summers . It's unbearable for any person to do the journey from Howrah to Deshapriyo Park on over crowded non ac buses in that hot and humid climate.
In some extreme cases I use buses for over 10 KM journey such like I have to return Howrah Station from VYBK at 9.30 pm. That time metros are unavailable and the last option is the buses .
Well said..
In Delhi, we have bus route 764 which runs almost parallel to magenta line metro. This route still popular in fact they brought more buses to this route.
How illogical video are you making @powertrain brother
Agar humko traffic kam karna hai to public transport ko badhana padega na aur road widening se kuch nahi hota
1.Ek baat achi bola aapne ki ideally nahi hai execution
2. Ki bht saare loog aise hai jinko sirf bus hi padvadti
Bus unko apne destination ler aaram se pohcha deti to eo udhar focus karenge
3.bus ki frequency utni achi hai abhi peak hours me so passengers mobilization zyada hota autos wagaira se
4.mumbai me MLB(metro,local ,bus)
Inka execution worst hai surf local hi sahi bani hai
Busses ke routes kahi jagah aise hi ki peak hours me bharr hui aati baaki tike khali chalti as i experienced this thing
So these are my points
You can agree or disagree with me
But ye tumko bhi pata hai aisa hi ho raha hai aaj kal
Buses isiliye popular hai kyunki abhi bhi bohot se local jagah metro ya train se connected nhi hai.
We need double decker buses in all India too
