- We visited Dharavi, India’s largest slum, which contributes over $1 billion annually to the economy and has the highest population density in the world. Life in slums can be challenging due to the elevated risk of respiratory diseases. However, Adani has proposed a redevelopment project for Dharavi, which offers residents new housing units in exchange for their current living spaces.

Bitter fact : poor peope cry about not having one meal a day but then wilnhave more than three kids ..no taxes freebies ..are for pooor but taxes are for middle class peope who only have one or two kids on an average .... population control is important ......govt needs to make stirct laws for population ...
root cause is lack of education, poor people also don't want kids, but lack of sex education force them to make 3-4 babies.

My honest opinion : dharavi people should not interrupt the process of redevelopment. All this years people keep migrating & make a mess. Half of them don't even own the land & blames government for it. Well no doubt they were free votes for the local politicians. And that's why we reach the point which is it became biggest slum in Asia.
the reason you stated about politicians is very true, but one more purpose it served for which the politicians didnt want them to to be removed is the underworld..... underworld use the young men from thse slums as drug peddlers and shooters... if they die, nobody cares... and if you are aware about politics-underworld then you will realise what point i am trying to make
Lol they live there cuz they don't have money to pay rent😂. And 83% slum population of Mumbai don't have voting rights for. Mumbai or Maharashtra. Slums increased for cheap labour as locals don't work in cheap salaries for more hrs

Mumbai's total voting population is 97 lac and total population legal living is 1.3 lac so 1.2 cr living in slums. And up,bihari, bangladeshi seriously have 3-4 kids and they live is slum mostly and don't give proper education

bhai ek toilet ko 2000 log. Din me 1440 minutes or 86400 seconds hain. So, for every time you go to washroom you get 43 seconds that too if you use it every second of the day. You also mentioned population is 2 miliion and area 2.5 km^2 which comes to 8lakh/ km^2 which is way off what you are mentioning of 4lakh/km^2. So, please provide sources as research seems to be half baked.

Why people don't migrate out of dharavi in 10k rent there are much better places in India. Because from my understanding there should be a stong driving force to get out of the place considering all the medical problems that can happen with their children so basic human emotions to protect their child should kick in. I am very curious to know the reason they still continue.
Because of free encroachment, muje toh lagta hai ki usmein dharvi mein sirf half hi rent dete baki all are just hustlers livin' nomads in those gullies and rooms as the actual can afford to give 10k to anyone and those who are not willing to move out are those with attached work baggage in and around dharavi most probably menial job holder jo sirf skill like sewing, knitting or collecting yehi karta hai and once out from that place usko itne skill level pe zada koi job nhi milega.
