I just drove one of these on a road trip . . . . drove it ~2,600 miles in two weeks and between home and my destination was 900 - 1,000 miles (so there were two long legs to that drive). It was fantastic! I found it to be comfortable, and so great to drive on the road trip, I never got bored. Hell, I only used Blue Cruise when I was eating. I have this exact trim (MME 4X), and it's easily the best daily driver I've ever owned. The interior is waaaay better (for my money) than the Model 3 and Y, and it's been beating the Model Y in highway range tests (even if not by much). All-in-all, it's a great car that I can haul my family around in whilst also having a good time. Hell, I'd even call it nimble for it's weight/size.
@@rich7447 not really. I have a 5 and 3 year old, and they were the main reason we stopped halfway there and halfway back. Other families were driving ICE vehicles, and we were only like 15 min behind them (and one of that group left earlier than we did). They too have kids, and stopped more as a result. Point is, it mostly just felt like a regular road trip in a really nice car. Just needed a little extra planning up front (though, not much).
@@QMaverick1 Good to know. I'm normally in the 800 to 1,100 miles a day on a road trip but I don't have very young kids. On really long drives we take the RV which has onboard kitchen and bathroom facilities, so no real need to stop (enough fuel for 1,500 miles). Wasn't sure how good this would be as a mid-ranger.

The reviewer has such a strong bias against American cars that the whole review has become too compromised with old jokes and outdated stereotypes, condescension and nitpicking. I have driven the Mach E on a road trip in Honolulu and it's the car I was most impressed with after using over 2 dozen vehicles driving across America.
The problem with American cars here in the UK is that they don't have the luxury of being extremely cheap. They are slapped with ENORMOUS tax hikes here, putting what is usually a really affordable car into the same territory as luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Porsche. So the reviews end up coming from two different points of view.
@@shogun2215 Exactly. It's a value thing. In America, these are okay-ish value. It's a better way to go than a Tesla, likely. Theyre pretty great first big efforts at the technology in a mass market price range in the states.

I feel like they didn’t want the Mach-e to turn into a cmax, so they used Mustang logo. I’m not a car guy, so it doesn’t bother me, and just from looks I think this is one the better looking all electric crossovers. I’m not sure how much that would have changed if it had a blue oval on the hood, but I think the pony helps.
The reviewer spent almost as much time talking about how 'American' this car is vs. the actual characteristics of the car itself. I think after the 3rd mention the audience gets it. The Top Gear Magazine crew usually do pretty good consumer level reviews but this one is a bit cringe to sit through.
The video is fine, it is the car that is stupid. Clearly the marketing department had more to say than the engineers, causing to car to have weird compromises due to the futile attempt to make it look like a Mustang.
The presenter is negative throughout then leaves a positive feedback. Very anti-American British presentation should have been toned down to give an honest review.
It's a good review but we gotta work on the joke delivery because some of them feel quite forced like you've said the same joke twice but with different words but still a good informational video nonetheless

I think all essential controls should be tactile. It's bad to rely so much on touchscreens. We're in the middle of the computerization of cars and a lot of this stuff is gimmicky, like an EV needs to convince you that it's futuristic. The technology is still expensive to manufacture, and it's like the wild west of car interior design. Some manufacturers are adamant on tactile buttons combined with a minimalistic screen that isn't obtrusive. I applaud them for that. I think time will show the iPad cars are going to age poorly. I think they're distracting at times. Sometimes it's better to just have a switch. Cars are starting to change. I personally think the reality is hybrids will be necessary and probably more common than full EVs. Unless some major change is made to battery technology.
That said, I like what Ford has done with this. They will be competitive very quickly if they learn just a few lessons and adapt a bit, drop the price by 25% and still be profitable - or just get better interiors and give their EVs a distinct feel. Hopefully these will prove to be reliable. I think Ford has made some excellent cars for decades. They always seem to have something going for them.
