Yeah, just search for "The Reality Of Knife Attack - Deane Lawler", should be the first result. I remember doing Jujutsu for a while when I was younger and we did a lot of this silly rubber knife stuff. Same goes for pretending to spar, throwing the same slow, telegraphed, punch over and over and doing a slow sort of defence against it. I think the best defence against the (very unlikely usually) threat of a random stranger attacking you is - a) Look like the sort of person you wouldn't want to mess with - like being a big sort of fella or something. b) Fucking leg it at the first opportunity, possibly chucking your wallet at the floor. The contents of a wallet can be replaced in a week, but injuries can end up being permanent. Just a solid punch in the face can do something like mess up your vision for life, potentially.
First thing my Krav Maga instructor told us was the majority of knife defences will fail because most people stab rapidly and usually aim for your lower torso and that the best defense is to keep distance and pull out your EDC 🔫 and shoot the fucker.

if they tested it, it would kill the fantasy. It's best to look at many martial arts as a form of role play, or a consensual delusion. If we all pretend that each other's crazy ninjutsu or kung fu moves work, then we all get to reinforce the fantasy that we're like the superheroes depicted in kung fu and ninja movies (just for instance), which is a lot more fun than the reality in which we're all quasi-powerless, overweight, lower middle class guys going through our second divorce.
