Im new to illustrator and I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to freakin work around the stupid black box border/canvas thing that surrounds the imported image. I can't select any of the sub layers within its borders and I don't want it there.
Can anyone help with this?

How do you get the rest of the buildings like residential to pop up? I was able to do everything but realized that a lot of the housing was missing, any tips on how to bring them up to show in the map?

you are probably downloading a huge amount of data. I'd advice zooming in openstreetmap for smaller information. It is easy to crash so be careful

This works great...up to a point. How do you delete or 'trim' off all the excess around the document border without messing up the core of the map?

I did not realize the streets were just strokes until after I started tinkering with them. So I used the scissors to trim the lines on the borders. Slow process.

Marwa Mohsen Thanks a lot. There are several programs you can use for maps. I personally prefer Grasshopper, plugin, for Rhino. It’s kinda complicated but it always have the best results.

Right click the map > ungroup it. You should be able to select after

Open openstreetmap > on the right side of the screen choose share > change format to pdf.
