Thank you! I'm working on a residential complex for my architecture studio and I am mapping the lack of amenities around the site. This helped me save a lot of time
ryannplaysdrums yeah did that for a project too. But the place I was doing it for wasn’t showing anything so eventually and to do it manually and use google map and trace the outline of all the building. So I know how long this things take. I am very happy that I could help you. What part of the world you doing it for?
thanks for the tutorial, it really saved me hours of work! what's funny is I tried to alter the opacity changes connected with zooming in and out and managed to adjust them so the buildings don't disappear when i zoom out (i needed a wider area view and didn't want to spend more time stitching the screenshots together) but i have no idea how i did that, i just spent 15 minutes on playing with different options and it came out nicely haha
Hey! Is there any way that this rasterize png/jpeg you imported to photoshop, can be a vector in illustrator and make the outlines of each building/building block, and then import it to autocad?
Is there anyway to use that map in order to get a multilayer map for power bi? I would like to develop a map with mapbox studio in order to do drilldown from power bi but no guide on the internet is helpful. Thanks!
Hi Ivan! Thanks for your question, but unfortunately I’m not an expert at Mapbox. It was just an app I used before to generate those figure ground quickly.
i did according to your instruction, but the problem is it is not showing all the buildings. can you help me out. i really need to know what am i doing wrong i even tried to zoom in and out
Aisha AlMuhairi If some building don’t show it’s because they haven’t been generated and added to the original map (the one created by mapbox). You can’t really do anything about it....only option would be to start with this techniques. Take a snapshot of an aerial view and trace the rest au the buildings in photoshop. I remember trying to do a figure ground for a site in Tahiti (French Polynesia)...and most building didn’t show up...this usually happens for small cities.
hi i wanted a figure round of Newcastle, i did according to your instruction, but the problem is it is not showing all the buildings. can you help me out. i really need to kno wht am i doing wrong
Hi, whats the exact location? Did you zoom in and out? Sometime buildings only display at a certain scale. You might have to zoom in closer and take multiple screenshots and merge them together after.
instead of stitching, go to the print option, nd in the print export settings specify your size of the frame... the area could be large or small, and hit the export button. It would download automatically in a png format

+ you can also print the map when it's ready using the "print" tool and it generates the png or jpg image in the size of your choice
Happy that’s it was useful! And like you said in your comment, changing the print size setting removes the need for stitching images.

Great Tutorial-How do you measure scale ? for example Inches per Feet Etc.
You can use google earth pro to have a map without labels i think💕THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO
So you dont need to stitch images you can remove the style change on zoom for the building layer
hooowwwwww
