I bought one. Use it on my 1997 MBenz E320, it showed me the misfire problem with the car which I quickly fix the problem by replacing the ignition coil, spark plugs, and spark plug cable. The device quickly paid for itself by repairing it myself other than paying big money the automotive shop or dealer. Good invention.
I watched your video on Friday, ordered the fixd on Friday. It’s Monday now, did the one day delivery, tried it on my Mercedes no problem there, which I already knew. My neighbors car has the engine light on, so we tried it there, he said it was time to change the spark plugs. Fixd said something similar. He changed them and fixd showed no problems.
Great review. I'm glad that you showed what it takes to use the same sensor with multiple vehicles. That is the practical information that I wanted! Thanks.
Same here. I have 2 cars and good to know I can use the same one on both. For $25 (got mine on sale) this is a nice tool to have to learn the basics before taking the car to the mechanic.
Thanks for the review. I like the fact that this was an honest review of the product and not an infomercial from a lot of the other videos I came across.
Whenever I used to take my car in for routine servicing, they would recommend more work. After buying the FIXD, I took my '05 Toyota Avalon in for an oil change and told them that my OBD scanner (FIXD) showed "no issues". They did the oil change and made no further "recommendations"!
Thank for good review . You took the time to inspect 2 cars. These types of reviews are beneficial when it's compared and incorporated with other reviews . The more the merrier. Thanks for your effort . I might look into other similar devices but this video was helpful
You plug it in, check your info, reset your light, and you're done. I keep it installed in my vehicle so I can get direct info if a light comes on, and I easily switch it to another vehicle if we're doing a road trip or something.
Just came across your channel. I've been debating as whether or not it was worth it to get one of these, how difficult it was to use and if I could use it on more than one vehicle. Your video has answered all these for me. Thank you, I will be getting one this week. Good job on the Tutorial , Doc
Thats for making this video. I bought FIXD a couple years ago. Haven't used it yet and actually forgot i had it. Until the other day when my daughter's check engine light came on.
thank you I really learn something you were very clear an understanding but I was try to find out why did my power steering fluid come out of my car and now it wont allow me to drive it goes in gear but wont let me turn it
I am a bit confused. If there is an issue with the timing, or some form of advance on the timing at higher rpms, why will the light check engine light turn off? All that seemed that all that was done here was to mask the problem. Clearly the issue will still remain. Would there not also be some form of recommendation on what needs to be fixed?
Bill Dux yes and does have recommendations. The check engine light will always turn off when you clear the codes and do nothing. After you drive it for some time it will come back on just like the fancy ones.
I think the reason it asks milage or VIN number is because of the year model. It would need milage for the early ones and just VIN to put itself in the correct "frame of mind".
the normal mileage about 200 miles, but any auto shop with a state mandated OBD computer can tell the codes were cleared so it won't pass inspection. FIXD is designed to tell you whats wrong with the vehicle. The option to clear the engine light is for simple things like faulty gas caps, oxygen sensors, so when you (GOD FOR BID) fix it your self you can clear the light and see if it comes back on with time. It's only used as a trouble shooting aspect of the software.
I bought FIXD about two years ago when I had a Honda Civic with over 100,000 miles on it that was not running smoothly. The sensor showed two cylinders misfiring, 31, and #3 I told my mechanic, and he was surprised I knew exactly what the problem was.
Oh, so what was the exact problem that you figured out just by scanning your car for codes? I'm assuming you had a P0301 and P0303. Did you tell your technician it's a spark plug, ignition coil, fuel injector or just have him replace it all. Hmmm now it's fixed. Shotgun diagnostics. Pray and Spray!
I told my mechanic that I got a "check engine" light and that FIXD told me that two cylinders, 1 and 3 were misfiring. They were surprised that I knew what the problem was. They made some changes in the spark plugs and wiring and the problem was fixed. They knew that I was not "in the dark" about the reason for the check engine light and that I would not have accepted a proposal for work beyond what was diagnosed by my FIXD OBD scanner. Knowledge is power!
So far, this doesn't work for me. It searched and searched, but never did find the sensor or my car, whichever the app was looking for. Getting the sendor unplugged was quite a chore. There is nothing but a slick surface to try to pull it out. So far, I am discouraged. HELP
They work. Used mine to diagnose 4 different cars. Shuts off the check engine light that pops on for emissions. Only caught one actual problem, an oxygen sensor. I used to just put tape over the light. On that second car... you need new wires and plugs.
Sometimes the check engine light doesn't go away after the problem has been fixed and the mechanic has to manually reset it. So Fixd lets you reset the check engine light manually, too - it wouldn't be a very helpful product if it helped you repair all your vehicle's issues yourself and then you still had to take it to a mechanic just to get the check engine light reset. If someone is dumb enough to reset the check engine light without actually fixing the problem that made the check engine light go off in the first place, that's on them.
Could be a spark plug, or wire, more likely a ignition coil that connects to the cylinder that's misfiring. What happens if you hit the arrows on the right side of the screen after the issue pops up? Does it tell you which cylinder is misfiring?
The whole point of this is to see what is wrong with the car am I right? Because it won't solve the problem it would just inform you what it is wrong so you don't get scammed in the auto body shop
My mechanic can't figure out what the noise is that my car is making and can't figure out why it keeps draining my battery. Told me the repair will likely cost over $2,000 because he thinks it's the timing chain. Or it may just need a whole new engine which he thinks could be less expensive. He replaced a big fuse that blew...cost me $131. Now, I'm thinking I just need to get a newer used car instead of sinking any more money into this one not knowing what's really going on. I'm getting ready to buy a fixd device to test it and may possibly use it to find a more reliable used car to purchase...Genius invention!
The service engine light on my Toyota is just a light that comes on every 5000 miles to remind you to get the regular service done. (oil change etc) I'm betting that's why it wanted the mileage after it turned off the service engine light.
What Can Fixd Diagnose? Fixd is a useful tool, but it can't diagnose everything. The general rule is that if a problem causes your "check engine" light to turn on, then Fixd can tell you why the light turned on and what type of repair you might need. Diagnosing a car is a whole lot more complicated than just reading trouble codes, and one code can be caused my multiple different problems. So even though Fixd can give you an idea of how to fix your problem, and even help you buy the replacement parts you need, complicated issues may still require the assistance of a professional mechanic.
my 2008 acura mdx has ADS system error, Emission system error and SH-AWD system error. bought a OBD scanner from Canadian tire. it just scanned Emission System error. didnt get anything for other two. wondering if fixd will scan all these errors with their error codes?
It's a basic code reader that can't do live data and none of the videos I've seen for FixD show non engine code data. A proper code reader should be able to diagnose an ABS system with live signal data and also show BCM data as well. Some computer codes do not cause a check engine light.
Thank you for the video, what I was looking for. Would like to know how many vehicles can you add to use the device on ? In other words, I have a few cars and only wish to use it only when an issue arises. From what it said about your KIA, open circuit on the injector means the electrical signal to control it is not connected, likely the sole cause of the Misfire condition. What did you find ? Thanks again
What if your car wouldn't start will the sensor still work or the car will have to be running for the sensor to work? The problem that I'm having with 2012 Ford Fusion SEL is the vehicle crank but wouldn't start so what do I do to diagnose the problem?
It only does the check engine, not all lights on the dash. As an example I have an 09 Nissan Xterra with an abs, slip and vdc off. I know it's an abs sensor just not which one. Contacted support and they said those are manufacturer specific and they don't have the rights to that.
I Have a Honda Accord 1991, My concern is I Can"t Find the Port Underneath the steering wheel also, I own a Cadillac, Jeep and Acura. Now the Honda Accord Has Multiple amounts of wires. What ever you do Don't let the Mechanic know what your driving from years experiences.
You are too funny. Enjoyed it. I'm going to go give my Toyota a shot at it. I wonder if I'm going to need vin no. or mileage. I suppose I better take a screen shot of the issues it has. That was helpful. Knowing me it may blow up. I normally don't sit in and listen that long but good job. Oh ! Thanks for closing the door to stop the beep beep. Lol
It's not working on my dads car? I did all it asked, I named the sensor my dads model... and for blue tooth I paired it cause it said so either putting in 0000 or 1234 but in my case it only worked with 1234 paired done then I I'm trying to scan vehicle with ignition on also tried it with motor running and still its saying problem communicating???? Help its pissing me off
EXACTLY. Say it throws an O2 Sensor code.... most people would replace that. But the O2 Sensor might be fine with a vacuum leak causing fuel trims to go off. That would throw off a perfectly fine O2 sensor that didn't need replacing at all.
Excellent review, even in moments where you weren't fully prepared for the next steps there was no pointless filler content like most so called "reviews" these days (which tend moreso to be people making videos about themselves with the product as an afterthought), it was very informative and additionally lacked, as others have mentioned, that feeling many "reviewers" these days give off that makes you feel like you're just watching a damned infomercial designed by the producers of the product.
If you have a smartphone made in the last few years, then you have bluetooth. It's a form of wireless data transfer, and it's required because it's what's going to allow the Fixd device to transmit information to the app on your phone. Without bluetooth connecting the Fixd device to your smartphone, Fixd is useless.
Thank you for posting. Do you know if this would work on a 1999 dodge intrepid? You did it on a 2003. Wondering if there is an age of the car it doesn’t work on?
So it pulls codes, which is free at most parts stored, by the way clearing the code doesn't fix anything, the light will come back on after drive cycle
what this is people is a code reader it gives the technician direction in the repair of your vehicle you can buy a cheap one for forty bucks at parts store but keep in mind the cheaper ones may not read all the modules i did not see that this particular code reader called FIXD reads all modules but i assume it does
All this does is scan codes, to give people an idea of what system is faulty in a car. Any professional mechanic does not just only scan codes to diagnose a problem. They use the codes to narrow down where they need to test the car. Then they perform the actual diagnosis, which involves using a shop labscope, and manual labor testing on various areas of the vehicle dependent on the code(s). People hear the word "diagnostic" and they think a tool like this which is only a D.T.C. (aka, dummy lights) scanner will tell them exactly what to do and how to fix it. If you know how perform those diagnosis tests and you want something relatively cheap to scan codes preliminary to the actual diagnosis tests. Then this is what someone could buy. If you think this product will tell you what to fix or replace, and if thats what want, then don't waste money on this. Just go to Autozone and have them scan it so you can know what code it is. Also, don't take the associates/workers word on what to replace because they just want to sell you parts. Have someone do the diagnosis or if you how & know what to test then do it yourself. About 90% of time a D.T.C. (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) will not tell you what to replace or what to fix. How do I know, my father is an actual ASE Certified Automotive Technician and Mechanic and has been teaching me extensively about cars. Just trying to inform and tell the truth. P.S. This guys EGR Code has nothing to do with the "engine knocking at high RPM'S" lol😂 I think thats what it said the consequeces of it is. It has to do with his "Exhaust Gas Recirculation" System in that Pontiac Montana. Something in that system is failing or faulty. Which again someone needs to diagnose that system to find what is faulty or failing. The actual consequences of that code is poorer gas mileage and possible failure on an emissions test.
But just because the light is cleared, does it mean that the problem is resolved? I dont get it. Surely, if the problem still remains, the light should come back on again instead of clearing it completely?
and remember people this is simply a code reader which has been used in the industry for years to pull codes in the OBD2 system once you got the codes take your car to an ASE certified tech to get it fixed and also people you can go to your local parts store and get a code reader for cheaper than this code reader probably or it will cost you 40-120$ to get it scanned at a shop
With the Fixd app open and working, I wanna see someone pull a spark plug wire off and see what Fixd tells ya. To see how well and accurate it really does work.
Information it asks so I’m finding out depend on vehicles you are driving what you need to enter. This is to further monitor your notices of upcoming . For the 30.00yr you get every updated feature they have plus a fully licensed mechanics to talk to 24/7. It does store all of the errors.I have the problem you have with yours. I have a VW CC turbo which are slim to find and mechanics around. The auto stores were telling me things. 3rd cylinder, replaced it all. Still problems. I spent money for all new plugs, cylinder repairs and parts. Yes dealerships could have scanned but right now with the no work orders we couldn’t afford the 185.00 scan. Plus it’s 20 miles from my house, couldn’t get it there.Mine was EPC with engine light, would run in a limp mode shutting down engine. My car throws a code they can’t even find. Being female and able to fix my other trucks and cars were nice but I don’t want to be taken advantage of. This allows me to find a shop, manufacturer part stores, cost should be,location of garages by me,the right code and so many upgrades to use with both vehicles. Now I can walk into shop show my app and error codes and get only those fixed not you need an air filter that will be 45.00 to install lol. For the 60.00 price n for me reassuring of 30.00 yr it will have paid more than half of shop diagnostic plus some. I know their are doubters and that’s okay. Videos show products and people are helped or hindered in their opinions. I appreciate the time you took to make. I have been watching so many in past week but appreciated how you showed both. Oh btw mine was a throttle sensor. 80.00.
No That need maybe a valve check or a lid wich is on top of the engine who correct the engine pressure, something like that. I've seen this in another video and that guy have misfire on all cylinders. He got air suction in to the engine bay
Need an annual membership with membership fees to use this? Meaning you pay for the device, the you pay for a membership code and account to be able to use the device?
No, you do not need the subscription to use your FIXD sensor. The subscription does come with additional features, but scanning your vehicle will always be free. To see what features are included in the subscription, tap the premium tab!
If he turns the car off and then turns it back on the light will come back on, the computer does a check every time the key is turned, but I'm sure he knows that now.
You did an awesome job explaining this device to us dummys! You came across as very credible! Will this device help me get through emissions since it clears check engine light? Merry Christmas!
abdulrahman alnawajha,This device will identify any issues the vehicles throwing codes for. The check ingine light is basically saying please scan me. That light means there are error codes. The device cant see things like bent suspension or body issues that can not be monitored with the vehicles sensors.
Service engine normally means time for an oil change, you cleared the light but if you are getting an error talking about knocking engine, Check your oil ASAP!
You could just buy an obd11 reader which costs around £15 probably $18 then use the net for what the codes mean or most readers come with a decoding sheet.
You need to fix cylinder 3 misfire, as this can wreck your catalytic converter. Most times this is a bad spark coil on that cylinder. Spark coil - not that expensive or hard to replace. Catalytic converter - expensive.
Catalytic Converter lights come on when it's only about 15% clogged (feed the shops). You can add lacquer thinner to gas and it will clear the CC out in about 75-100 miles and the light will go out. They are expensive to replace, and many times a mechanic will tell you it needs replacing, when it just needs to be cleaned out.

I guess this is another paid review. If you are considering this watch Youcanic FIXD review.

Could you do an update video? We’re these issues actually existing issues with your vehicles?
Does the engine light need to be on for this thing to give you some type of diagnostic?
Don't think so... Should be able to read your car no matter what
If there is an engine code coming up it should show regardless. It won't show things like trans codes and otherwise.

Yes, thank you for pointing that out Byron. Clearing the codes does NOT fix the problem.

Wow. I love how simple you broke this down!
Please take your cars to get checked out that KIA is thirsting for some help 🤣🤣🤣
So what is the disadvantage of clear the engine light. I means if you remove the check engine light , the problem is still there.
Do you keep the fixd connected at all time to the car or do you take it out when you finish
Either way. You can move it to a diff car as needed.

@@helenmorton4155 you're welcome - no problem at all.
Hi, do you need to leave the car on the whole time when you searching for the problems? Thank you!
Yes
Before clearing a code it might help to write down the code number.
Yes. I was screen-recording, so I have it.
duh
steve trezise might want to update in Others I am watching are showing many new upgrades within app.
Thank you for posting. Do you know if this would work on a 1999 dodge intrepid? You did it on a 2003. Wondering if there is an age of the car it doesn’t work on?
The infomercial says the year. I think they said all cars after 1995 have a plug the sensor fits into (or it may have been 1997).
every vehicle after 1996
we have a chevy impala Lt 2011 and we added it the only car as an impala LS would that matter
Car doesn’t crank can you still use it if in on position
You are correct. If the issue is not fixed the computer will see it again and pop those lights on.
I got mine on Dec. 23, 2020 for $19. How much you paid for yours?
Can this also cycle the ABS pump? If so that would always be nice to have just in case when bleeding old fluid out.
NO
I want to know how you got the info from the FIXD app off your smartphone on your video.? 👍😎
Great review and tutorial. thank you!!!
I have a question. Can u use it on multiple cars. Or. Does the fixd device need to be registered to each individual vehicle.
It appears, as seen in this video, you can use it on multiple vehicles. In this video he uses it on two separate vehicles (the same sensor).
Wouldn't you want to keep your engine light on until you have your vehicle looked at? You know, as a reminder?
and remember people this is simply a code reader which has been used in the industry for years to pull codes in the OBD2 system once you got the codes take your car to an ASE certified tech to get it fixed and also people you can go to your local parts store and get a code reader for cheaper than this code reader probably or it will cost you 40-120$ to get it scanned at a shop
Is the unit left on all the time or only for the test?
I see and read that its all for cars,is their one for trucks or a deal for more ?????
With the Fixd app open and working, I wanna see someone pull a spark plug wire off and see what Fixd tells ya. To see how well and accurate it really does work.
I thgt the device gave estimates on what the cost would be to fix specific issues. Is that not correct?
Remember he said he got the cheaper version. For the reports, you have to pay monthly I believe.
@@BabygirlKisha4316 Thats the premium option at $69/y.
cyl 3 misfire....could be coil, plug wire, plugs.....some other sort of short. I would still be replacing parts that may not need to be replaced.
Does this check transmission oil temp? Thanks
Is it true that the port is only on cars that are 96 and newer and would that work on diesel cars and trucks and or RV's ?????
They informed me that it only works on passenger diesels produced after 2006, and commercial vehicles after 2008.
The 2nd car probably just needs a tune up
No
That need maybe a valve check or a lid wich is on top of the engine who correct the engine pressure, something like that.
I've seen this in another video and that guy have misfire on all cylinders.
He got air suction in to the engine bay
@@Shocker8MTA Maybe, but because of the vehicle's age; it more likely needs, spark plugs, wires, and ignition coils...a tune up.
Need an annual membership with membership fees to use this? Meaning you pay for the device, the you pay for a membership code and account to be able to use the device?
No, sir. You plug it in, download the app, and you're good to go. The app is free. No subscriptions, no additional fees.
No, you do not need the subscription to use your FIXD sensor. The subscription does come with additional features, but scanning your vehicle will always be free. To see what features are included in the subscription, tap the premium tab!
As it states this device works from 1996. I have a 2003 Ford Falcon in Australia and this device wont work. Not happy
1996 America made OBD2 mandatory, in Australia it was 2006, look at OBD2 Australia, just ask them
I did it quite a few times and different suggested ways - didn't work for me
Yes and your light will come back on into you fix the car
glenn bates *until you
If he turns the car off and then turns it back on the light will come back on, the computer does a check every time the key is turned, but I'm sure he knows that now.
You did an awesome job explaining this device to us dummys! You came across as very credible! Will this device help me get through emissions since it clears check engine light? Merry Christmas!
Thank you -- and that's a great question. I'm not sure about that.
FreeTutorials how long did your check engine light stay off if you don't mind me asking?
Mine actually stayed off for a few days. Wasn't until I was going up a steep hill. At least in my Kia. The Pontiac stayed off for about a day.
FreeTutorials Yoe are so kind to help us! Subscribed!
Thank you so much. :)
Nice video man thumbs up. Been thinking about getting one of these
I think I'll check on the other prices 1st and compare and I'll get back with you'll, I mean other OBD's ll or ?
Nice video. Which phone on screen software did you use to record your screen?
Will this device tell you why your car won't start....
Were you able to recall the error codes?
Did they tell you to enter your email or text?
Does it recognize other lights beside the engine light ?
Thx
abdulrahman alnawajha,This device will identify any issues the vehicles throwing codes for.
The check ingine light is basically saying please scan me.
That light means there are error codes.
The device cant see things like bent suspension or body issues that can not be monitored with the vehicles sensors.
The one thing you didn't mention was the premium that is where it goes into more detail
Does it work on diesel engines?
When you use FIXD for your Toyota, it will come up with NO codes. Toyotas rarely have engine problems.
LOL...True!
Service engine normally means time for an oil change, you cleared the light but if you are getting an error talking about knocking engine, Check your oil ASAP!
is this compatible with diesel engine? specifically Isuzu mu-x?
no. not diesel or all electric
My service engine soon light is on and my brake light, I really need this device. lol Great unboxing vid!
You need the codes the device gives you.
You could have an issue of carbon build up causing detonation (ping). Or a faulty knock sensor.
Você poderia me responder porque não funciona aqui no Brasil?
You could just buy an obd11 reader which costs around £15 probably $18 then use the net for what the codes mean or most readers come with a decoding sheet.
Sometimes its not as specific
Hahaha but I'm not broke...
@@da324 Thanks for the tip
Does anyone know if it would work on a laptop if you don't have or don't want to use a cell phone?
That's a great question. I used the downloadable app, but I imagine on a Chromebook or something there may be apps. I have not tried.
need the app available on Apple or Android, not Windows.
