Great video and tutorial, @ 12:53 vacuum process and charging the ac unit can you have detailed video? I'm planning to purchase and install my ac own. Thank you.
Hello, I have a question about the indoor unit, when you took the front panel of this unit u see a lot of Polystyrene at the front and at the back, where the coper lines are running does this have to be removed or it has to stay after the installation. and what is their purpose.?
If the linset had to exit on the bottom right I guess the flared fitting connection would need to be inside the wall if it were running down an inside wall , correct? And how would you bend it to keep it from kinking? Thanks for the video.
It would depend on the depth of the wall. It is better not to fit the flared connection inside the wall because, if afterwards you discover that you have a leak, it will be impossible to fix within the wall. To keep the pipe from kinking, you should make sure that you have enough pipe length on the outside of the wall to bend with a tube bender. Does this answer your question, W B?
Btw, a serious question (that's why I watched). The refrigeration pipes point to the left, factory standard. Can I bend them to the right, so the come out of the right side of the unit? I'm affraid to break them.
Great question! The purpose of the nitrogen test is to the check the pressure of the unit. If all valves are closed and pressure is lost, that would indicate that the unit has a leak. We usually vacuum the unit once the pressure test is complete. Technically, vacuuming the unit could be counted as a secondary pressure test but, in reality, the main purpose of vacuuming is to remove air and humidity from the lines. Hope this helps clarify some things for you!
Any harm in running pipes down through the inside of the wall cavity and then out of my garage instead of going straight through and down the outside? I already have a hole in my brick where I had a portable AC exhaust pipe going out about 24 inches off the ground
Excellent video. Do you know why some people use a 4 wire for the power supply? 2 hot wires, 1 ground and 1 neutral. I don't understand where someone would hook the ground (bare copper wire) to on the AC disconnect or the actual control panel on the outdoor unit. Thanks in advance.
@@CooperandHunterusa Thank you very much for the quick response. I just ordered the Cooper and Hunter dual zone 9k/18k unit with the 25' line sets. Looking forward to receiving it and getting it installed.

my unit had some cooling fins damaged, I thought this was pre charged so I was very disappointed. the instructions are cryptic and the pictures are for a different model . The video did not go over the electric wires at all. . I'm supposed to plug the used drain but I can't find it. I have installed a Mr. Cool unit before. much easier. This was a mistake. Saved a few bucks but paid it out the other end.
Hi Theodore, thanks for your feedback. Damaged units should never be installed. We certainly would have addressed the issue if a report had been made. Our units are pre charged for a specific line set length, which can certainly simplify the installation process. However, unlike Mr. Cool, our units are not DIY - they are meant to be installed by licensed HVAC technicians who are experienced with electrical connections and working with refrigerant.
@@Troy-Moses In Europe (where this video was made), all mini splits are powered from the indoor unit. In USA, mini splits are powered from the outdoor unit. In the US the units are required to be hardwired, while in Europe hardwiring is optional. So, good question! Hope this answer clarifies things :)

Thanks Denny! We always appreciate positive feedback and are happy to hear that this video was helpful for you!
I think that you need make an update regarding the correct installation of mini split units. This is not an professional installation.
How do we connect the wires?
Love it....especially the tape parts!
Thanks a lot!

If you're located in the US, just be aware that the unit should be installed by a licensed HVAC Technician in order to qualify for Limited Warranty.

Your voice over keeps saying to isolate the line. I think he means insulate, right?
Do you need the installation kit or can it work with out?

Oh, good question! Yes, you can turn the pipes to the right side. You should be able to do it carefully by hand.
Your instructions state back of unit needs to be 12” from back wall. The bracket only allows for maximum of 8”. What’s the deal?

What about drain line running up to the attic then outside?
Great question! Yes, it's absolutely possible to run the drain line upwards and out - but this will require the installation of a drain pump.

Hi Troy! Our units only need 3 wires for the power supply. The 2 hot wires and a ground wire. There is no neutral for our 230v models.

why was the music so loud?
Can I mount the heat pump above the evaporator level? I want to mount it on the roof.
Certainly!
How much does it cost for install by HVAC technician?
You'll have to price check with your local installers. We do not do installations or servicing, we only provide the products.
