Well, I found this valuable because I'm a beginner and it explained a lot of things I didn't know before. It was better than several other stereo-removal videos I've seen, so I'm glad of it. Smart people who already know this stuff don't need to be abusive; they could try being helpful and telling the rest of us some of things they know.
I love this radio! Have it in my '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it fit great and looks and sounds great! Good value for $80! This video explains everything you need to know and gives you tips and hints along the way! Thanks! (:
If you use the keys the right way(with the bump in towards the radio) it will release the locks, and actually secure onto the radio so so don't wreck the face using pliers to pull the radio out.
Cool! I was actually looking how to install a stereo in a Van but I watched the video anyways to have any type of idea of what to do. Very Helpful, Thanks (y)
Very nice. Is there a way to make sure the replacement fits into your car before making a purchase? If I am replacing SONY with JVC or any other brand?
You left out one of the most complicated/difficult part: splicing the wire harness. 99% of people replacing their stereo aren't using the same brand that they're taking out, which requires a lot more work than is shown in this video. Still doable, but if people are expecting as easy a job that is in this video, they will be disappointed if they don't do the research on how to match up and splice the proper wire connections.
you sometimes get them in the new stero or u can buy them but if you can make them just get a bit of thick wire or some thin small metal plate and hammer it untill it fits. when it dose fit you might need to jiggle it around to get it to unclip
So all of the electrical connections are the same for every aftermarket radio? Because I currently have an aftermarket installed and want a different one, however i really don't want to fart around with the wiring. If it's this easy, I'll do it myself in no time.
Yo bud! Great video but I do have a question, where’d you get your adapter, cause the original stereos are double din and most aftermarket ones are single din, and I can’t find a single din adapter for my Malibu Thank!
where did you get that cord that went from the proprietary connection of the car to the newer connection that plugs into newer radios. I have a 98 Chevy Malibu and it only had the original wiring so I need that cord that you have?
nice video, but i would really like to see one with the original stereo system, i have a 2002 mailibu and want to put an aftermarket MP3 jack in, or dose it matter.
I'm getting a second hand honda civic (2001) and I'm planning the Sony cdx-gt270mp. is there going to be much difference in my installation? Do i need to worry about any wire splicing? Thanks!
Hello Pal, Quick one, any tips to install any tood touch screen audio player + navigation in Mercedes w203 - 2003 model. I want to have the steering control enabled as well.??
when installing the wiring harness in a malibu the guy in the shop told me I need to ignore the red power wire and wire it directly into a fuse that turns on with the ignition? I've installed a couple stereos before but that lost me. any advice on how you did it?
I saw another video where he installed a "converter box"? I think it was to do with the wattage of the new stereo system vs. the wattage of the speakers? i.e. if you play music too loudly, it'd destroy the factory speakers?
Take out the stereo and look all the way in the back of the slot in your dash, you should see a hard plastic piece in the back that is in the way and it wont let the stereo go all the way in. what you have to do is cut the part that is in the way and the stereo should fit in just fine. Dont worry you are not hurting the integrity of anything by doing so.
you go to autozone get the plug for your car make for example dodge. Honda etc. cost under 15 bucks. Remove the stock radio plug the autozone harness into your factory harness that you just unplugged and then color match and connect each NEW stereo wires with the autozone pre cut wires.. done
Thanks for the in-depth detailed explanation! You did not go through wiring but that's okay, I'll look for another video for that! Awesome video! Although I do not have that radio, the instruction helped TREMENDOUSLY with my installation!
Currently in the process of replacing the stock receiver with a new receiver. I also own an 2001 Chevy Malibu,. When purchasing the new receiver online, The website - Crutchfield is telling me that - "You'll need to cut out the plastic rear support bracket to make room for your new stereo." Is this a difficult process to do? Don't want to just start taking apart my car.
Okay, I have a bit of a strange situation here, I drive a 1985 Toyota tercel, and it came factory with no stereo because its the cheapest possible model, I'm going to try and put one in any suggestions??
I've got a sony stereo basically the same as this, the CDX series but im having problems securing it in place as it wont click in and stay there... the stereo fits in fine and everything but just cant click in making it secure, any help please??? Also, the USB bit won't work as it keeps saying USB not supported??
Someday, I'm going to use this video to surprise my brother by replacing the radio in his car with either a Pioneer DEH-S6010BS or a Kenwood KDC-BT362U.
i got a CDX-GT270MP and when i start the engine it won't play the cd automatically like other stereos i had. I don't know how to fix this problem. I have to manualy select cd to play my music.
I'd suggest modifying your vehicle's dash. You won't be able to properly reinstall the factory radio when you sell your car, but you can at least get the new radio in there (:
how did u get pass the anti-theft system in ur car without sitting it off. every time I hook my new deck up the anti- theft light comes on. let me know the method u use to get pass it. I have a Chevrolet Malibu 2002 v6. I'm stuck!!!
Most of your videos are very informative, thanks for educating the world. God bless you.

Thank you so much!!! Very easy to understand!! And my new stereo works great!!!

CR R Yup not all radio plugs are the same pioneer is different than sony an JVC
