+Jordan Pizinger Thanks for the comment, I’m hoping to have another video with a SLAP and MK211 vs Humvee Ballistic Glass. Thank you for what you do . Blessings
Travis Thacker that’s not true, SLAP and SLAP-T rounds were in fact used on humvees, shot from M2’s. You can find a video here on RUclips of a soldier firing them in the field with helmet a cam; you can clearly see the SLAP/T rounds in the box of ammo when he reloads it, 1 red sabot tracer round for every 9 amber sabot standard rounds belted. I’m not sure if they got rid of them as of now, but they were VERY effective. I have buddies who served and shot them as well.
Travis Thacker I hear you. I think it’s somewhat of a fallacy though... because in my opinion, the other branches and some marines themselves make fun of that “we always get the old shit” but I think it stems from USMC brass being stubborn and “sticking to what works”. For example, the 5.56 round they still currently use (MK318 mod 0? Or MK262 can’t remember...) versus the Army’s new M855A1 round.
Great Work and Results!!! The Raufoss is tungsten carbide and a little brittle if they keyhole so that's probably why it shattered after going through the first plate, similar with the slap round. The straight black tip armor piercing and silver tip armor piercing incendiary rounds are hardened molybdenum tool steel and are a great balanced and MUCH Cheaper :-))) The Mushroomed Core was a standard Ball round, with Mild Steel Core, ive seen a lot of people get duped with these as people test them with a magnet and just paint a black tip on them and sell them as AP, and as they are exactly the same as the straight armor piercing only one has a hardened core and the other a mild steel core similar to a .556 green tip!!!
The keyhole was actually most likely the result of the Comp A high explosive in the tip detonating slightly inside the crater. It blew part of the hole out while the core slipped through the steel like it was butter, and still point first.
Garantia COBIA I’d bet you’ve never fire a rifle or any firearm at somebody. The sheer energy of the round is insane and it wouldn’t be surprised. I once found a 50 cal. black tip armor piercing round in Death Valley, California. It was next to a rock ring that overlooked what I was told by the ranger's son was a WW2 POW camp. I followed what looked like tank or half track prints in the desert pavement up a hill to that rock ring. I could never find information that such a camp existed in Death Valley, California. I lived in the San Fernando Valley at the time. I took it to the LAPD station. BIG mistake. They insisted I must have trespassed on Fort Irwin NEAR Death Valley and sounded like they were going to make a big deal about me having illegal ammunition. They let me go. But I learned a valuable lesson. Next time I'll just dig a deep deep hole and bury it.
I can’t believe they didn’t penetrate more than that! I know Ar500 is pretty stout stuff, tested different thicknesses with my 50 as well. I heard something from a military guy once that these rounds would go through a Toyota long ways and not slow down lol All that being said i wonder what it could do to some regular mild steel or other steel. Or if you still got that old 350 laying around that you shot
If you’ve got several rounds did you shake all of them and compare the sound of the amount of powder in them. I got to wondering if maybe one was loaded weak I’ve got a couple of these myself, might go check mine and see. I’ve had em put up for a few months
Ok my bad on the kind of metal you shot, I watched the video very late last night when I couldn’t sleep and didn’t pay attention like I should’ve. I see you used regular steel already
+Brannon Pardue A friend of mine actually loaded these rounds to mil specs powder primer the whole works. We were thinking it might have been a weak load as well due to 275 grains being a baseline for the load. If I could get a couple “factory loaded” rounds to try I would. Yes I still have that old engine block here at the house. And yes it was mild steel.
That is insane. I can’t believe they made it thru one, much less going thru and bulging the back of a second. I think some of the shrapnel is the metal slug push out of the first plate. Soooooo cool. Thanks for vid.

Actually, the one that "mushroomed" was not an AP round at all, but was M33 ball. It has a mild steel core instead of the hardened steel core of the AP/API/Raufous rounds. There hasn't been lead core BMG ammo made since before WW-II. The idea was to make the cheaper ball the same weight and trajectory as the AP rounds. Even ball is kind of semi-AP. Also, the "keyhole" noticed on the Raufous round is almost certainly the result of the high explosive in the tip detonating inside the steel and blowing part of the crater out to the side.

It would be nice to see how the 14.5 x 114 AP rounds compared. Many years ago (1990's) I was involved in the development of a cartridge we designated the 12.7 x 100, it used a modified 20mm Oerlikon case and was loaded with the Canadian C44 AP-T projectile (954 grain). This achieved ~90mm of penetration in a solid block of mild steel 100mm thick and showed a bulge at the rear - MV was around 3200 fps, I can't remember exactly. Unfortunately it went nowhere and was probably impractical anyway.
Very interesting! I have two of the 50bmg C44 rounds, how do they perform against a API/APIT as far as penetration? (I would test them but I paid a pretty penny for them both and only have them for collectable/SHTF status)
I've shot the m2 quite a bit, and when mounted to a solid platform, (m88 or other track vehicle) is probably more accurate out to 1500m than a Barrett. Those tripods move a lot more than people would expect.
I'm thinking you got taken, the core on a true ap round will shatter before mushrooming looks like somebody painted a few m33 ball round, they have a mild steel core that will act this way
We captured a SLAP projectile from one of my newer videos 5/“titanium vs 50 Cals baddest rounds. If you go to my channel page and the to my instagram page you can see the projectile after it went through the plate.
I actually expected the SLAP to go through all the way. Maybe it failed due to the angle? I also guess that that wasn't 100 HBN Mild steel, more like actual armour in the 400 hbn range.
Hello, thanks for the comment. Yes this is like an A50 steel, I finally got som titanium so look for a video next weekend. Also don’t forget to check out the video where I retested the 3” of steel. No wind in that video
Yes you are correct. I did a second video (without the wind) and secured everything down, the results were interesting. If you get a chance check it out.
The slap round probably outperforms the regular AP round at long range, so when at ranges where the regular AP rounds wont penetrate the first plate, the SLAP should.
+boomchacle Thanks for the comment. Yes you are correct. The Slap round was designed to penetrate armor at 1000 rounds where the regular armor piercing round would not
@@GoingBallistic You should see how many ball rounds it takes to go through a 1 inch plate by hitting it in the same spot. Or see what angle a plate can be before it'll deflect a 50 cal ap round

Having the plates spaced out will actually make it "easier" not harder to penetrate. This kind of experiment had been done by many people and is on RUclips.
@@prandomable Spaced armor works, that is why it is so widely used. But it does not work best for every situation. Spaced armor works best if the first plate is face hardened, for projectiles coming in at an angle and with sufficient spacing to induce a tumble, deflect or deform the projectile. For this test a RHA armor scheme would probably work best.
@@benjaminpajk1299 that makes sense. I was just saying having the plates spaced out will only make bullets easier to penetrate in general. Many people had done this test with their guns. Spacing makes steel plates easier (not harder) to penetrate.

Hell, use a TAC-50 to do such videos. Video here it's like shooting with a water pistol or nerf.
Cool video, just seeing the round up close was cool , is shooting a fresh tree stump a good medium to catch a bullet?
We captured a SLAP projectile from one of my newer videos 5/“titanium vs 50 Cals baddest rounds.
If you go to my channel page and the to my instagram page you can see the projectile after it went through the plate.
Very cool
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for the video !
Thanks for the comment, I am going to redo this video with the plates secured down so the rounds hit with full energy, oh and a new wind mic😘
Wow. thanks for this great Video.
Thank you for watching 👍
I forgot to mention that I remade the video, we strapped the tatgets in place and no wind noise. Check it out and let me know what you think
Don't think those are AP but m33. Which has a soft steel core and will act somewhat like AP
do SLAP round vs APIT Rheimetal round
First round was not armor piercing. It was just standard ball ammo. Even ball ammo has a steel core, although not a hardened core like black tip.
You are correct, I found that out later. Check out my channel and see where I did a second test on the same plates.
Thanks a bunch for the comment 👍
I actually expected the SLAP to go through all the way. Maybe it failed due to the angle? I also guess that that wasn't 100 HBN Mild steel, more like actual armour in the 400 hbn range.
You should shot them at longer distances?.
Could you do this again but space the plates atleast 6” or more apart ? Great vid
This was just mild steel? I'd bet the slap does awesome on stuff like AR500 or similar hard plate
Hello, thanks for the comment. Yes this is like an A50 steel, I finally got som titanium so look for a video next weekend.
Also don’t forget to check out the video where I retested the 3” of steel. No wind in that video
What kind of steel is it sir
That first round was likely just steel core FMJ not an AP
Yes you are correct. I did a second video (without the wind) and secured everything down, the results were interesting. If you get a chance check it out.
Nice to see somebody who welds worse than me.
Man that wind is a bitch haha great videos man definitely gained a new fan
Yeah, I wish I had a good wind mic back then. We did redo the video. When you get time go to the channel and look up “test 2”
The slap round probably outperforms the regular AP round at long range, so when at ranges where the regular AP rounds wont penetrate the first plate, the SLAP should.
+boomchacle Thanks for the comment. Yes you are correct. The Slap round was designed to penetrate armor at 1000 rounds where the regular armor piercing round would not
@@GoingBallistic at 1000 meters?
+boomchacle LOL yes sorry at a 1000 meters
@@GoingBallistic You should see how many ball rounds it takes to go through a 1 inch plate by hitting it in the same spot. Or see what angle a plate can be before it'll deflect a 50 cal ap round
бабахнул так бабахнул...
I curious how 338 would do against those plates.
Not sure would be a cool video with some AP rounds.
You should get elephant rifle in your hands and make sooo awesome vids with it like kentucky ballistic
Hey thanks for the comments. KB is the king of the elephant gun, we will let him do his thing and we will do ours.
@@GoingBallistic okay! Damn i would have be so happy to see you make vids with it too
Would be interesting to see a penetration test using 1" plates of lead tightly held together and shot on edge. That way you could separate the slabs like pages of a book and see exactly what each round did.
That’s a cool idea, I’ll have to look into that.👍
Please have a word with your assistant audio producer. 👍
Solid vid but your editing is a bit off, other than that this was an awesome vid! Keep making vids like this with the go big or go home style and this will be my new favorite channel just watch out for RUclips rules
+Justin Bell Pa Hey Justin, thanks for the comment. Yep I have a lot of learning to do.
@@GoingBallistic its trial an error but you already got the right ideas and equipment for some epic content
Amazing goooooooood
Thanks for the comment. I made a second video with the same plates (and no wind lol ) if you get time please go to my channel and check it out.👍
.50 bmg fmj has like 30mm of penetration
Super cool.
+nominalvelocity Thanks for the comment👍
Is it normal to shoot in open space area??!!
Secure the damned target dude. You'll get better penetration shooting something that can't just slide away from the impact.
Wrong, I proved that in another video. verry little difference. dude!
@@GoingBallistic Maybe not much but there objectively is energy lost in moving the plate. It'll look a lot better too.
put a wind block over the mic!
Very cool vid
+Ragnarok Thanks for the comment
Was this the first channel with slap rounds?
Yes we were the first with the 50 cal slap
@@GoingBallistic God Bless and your channel
You're in Colorado?
Yes
@@GoingBallistic lol me too, thought the landscape looked familiar. Thanks for the fun videos BTW :)
By the way how did you procure said round? I took a few for myself but regrettably I shot them all
+Buck Shot Thanks for the comments. I bought the projectiles off eBay and me and a friend loaded the rounds to military spec. We just picked up 20 more complete rounds off of gun broker. We will be doing another video soon👍
3:44 😮
I subbed buddy good job
Thank you👍
Mannn, good job finaly some body shoot the slap round, all the big gun chanel fps russia, demol.ranch,iraqv8888,full mag and other for year 's the dont shoot this round and i ask my self why ist this milion dollar pro round, and now you cam, and shot at as was nothing, keep doing this job, i hope you will became a big chanel wish you the best man....
Ps. Try to shoot some titanium whit the slap...peace from Bosnien 🇧🇦🇺🇸
+Ermin Cosic WOW thanks so much for the compliment. I’m trying to get my channel to go but it is hard to do. However I’m not a quitter 😎 Please help me out and share my channel.
Thanks again
Wind conditions ruined the hard work effort. Should have been done with more favorable recording conditions, notwithstanding it's only a sample video
Totally agree
This was awesome but you guys have really beefed up the production on the recent ones! 🤎
Thanks 👍
Those plates are spaced out, so increased armor values
Spacing will make it "easier" to penetrate. This kind of test had been done by many people and RUclipsrs.
Quite an optimist thinking any 50 cal round would go trough 2 one inch plates arranged so that they create spaced armor effect.
Стоп, Крис, а где Джастин? Или это было ещё до него? ;00
Yes this was before Justin.
Do you know how can I remove a 50.cal bullet from those metal links that hold them togheter?
They make a linker/delinker (spelling ?)
Tool that’s about $100-$175
Look up 50 cal linker delinker on line and you will find them.
Or just pull them apart by hand, but that can be hard sometimes
id buy a lodged bullet for a paper weight
Amagine explosive, armor penatraiting, traser, slap round oof
I'm gonna complete 👍
WHAT ARE YOU SAAYYYYYIIINGGGGGG????????????????
Do not watch this video with headphones
