OK we picked up a partial Concrete Jersey Barrier and wanted to see how many 50 BMG Armor Piercing Incendiary Tracer Rounds it would take to go through. The results will surprise some of you. I sure was.
***NOTE, I said WW2 rounds but they are Korean War rounds

First of all, thanks for the metric conversions, very nice touch. I honestly expected no pass through but cracks and chunks breaking off. That russian projectile just nailed that hole, the slow mo on that was spot on. Maybe the dogleg trajectory is due to the rocks/cement positions in the barrier and the core simply goes where there is less resistance and "avoids" the harder rocks inside.

In the Army we would expend ammunition before it got "too old". In ONE SINGLE DAY at the range, my company (less that 200 men) shot over 300,000, that's Three Hundred THOUSAND rounds of 5.56. Two hundred thousand rounds of M855 green tip and 100,000 rounds of M856 Tracer using SAWs and M16/M4 variants. THAT's the kind of fun I like to have!

What about splitting some logs with the 50 guys, it would be interesting to see how far up a log a 50 would get, you know aiming at the sawn thick end, I think you would need a metal detector to find the round from the outside or just ram something up the hole the projectile makes, that always works to gauge depth.
