Not gonna lie, I shed a little tear when you said goodbye to your dad. With this level of filming and editing you will have a great RUclips future ahead. Stay safe and enjoy the ride. Can't wait for the next videos!
Tip for backroad travel. When passing a gas station like Tipella in the middle of nowhere always top up. You never know if you will get 95% of the way to your next gas and get turned around. Always prepare for the unexpected.
The obstacles you will face are going to be daunting. I would say this trip is more mental then physical. My advice to you obey your instincts always !!! Don't push when mother nature rears its ugly head be patient be smart make calculated decisions and you will succeed ! God speed brother !
I know this isn't BCpov, but I'm so happy to follow you on this new adventure. So exciting for you and I really look forward to see how things go! I'm glad there are more episodes to watch for me still - Binge watching warning! 😀 Safe travels, Eric!

@@SHOVELCARD Itchy Boots, Noraly, is one of my favorites. I also follow Charly Sinewan, Pablo Imhoff, Two Wheels Three Sheets and Sebastian Villanueva.
Tip: to mount and dismount the bike when loaded. With the bike on the kick stand step up on the foot peg and throw your leg over. Stand up on the foot pegs and dismount from there.😎
LOL. I did a peg mount at my local Honda dealership, and the fat old guy in the showroom about had a heart attack. I told him he needed to take a chill pill, and that it was an acceptable way to mount a bike. As to using it with a loaded bike, with a top box especially, you would have to be pretty limber to get your let to swing up and over the top box. Pavlin from Motorcycle Adventures also sticks his leg up over the seat, same as Noraly.

hi Eric, so instead of taking yoga you can try practicing mounting from the right side of the bike, it’s easier on a bike that’s loaded on the rear… Otherwise I’m glad I caught you at the start of your adventure, can’t wait to see what awaits you.
So exciting to follow you on this adventure, Eric! I loved the show The Long Way Round as well so super stoked to see how this goes. Glad you got your drone back those drone shots were AMAZING!
Nice to stumble across your videos. One tip when loaded with panniers and rear box its hard to get on - easiest is while bike is on stand place left foot on left peg and stand up and then swing / slide you right leg over as you are up that extra height you clear everything, same for hopping off the bike just do the reverse, saves stretching your hamstring and putting dirty boots across your seat. i really like the look of your adventure kit you added and the fact there is someone designing that full kit for the KLX's is fantastic. I see your reasoning re. bike weight, i have a setup KLR650 and nudging 220kg id say and maybe 240 when loaded up. Safe travels
Hey! I pretty much never comment on videos, but just wanted to let you know that I'm really happy that I stumbled upon your channel. There's something really calming about your videos. I think I'll watch the entire series, best of luck to you.
I was fortunate enough to do the GDT a few years ago and one thing I learnt... Never pass up a gas station. If you have room for fuel, fill up. Good luck and safe travels.
Excitement and anxiety...always at the start of the trip! Take it slow and easy, enjoy the company and hospitality of people you meet along the way. I'm impressed you've taken the challenge of filming it all. I just keep a written log.
I want to do a similar kind of trek. Just got into riding a couple years ago, have an NC700X that's pretty old but gets everywhere. This last summer I did a 13400km trip from Ontario through Texas then BC and back; it was epic but I don't have cameras yet - that's next up. I've done 70,000km in my first three years and it's amazing. God I miss BC!!! I had to move to Ontario for a job but BC is so much nicer. I did a pass near Radium that was just amazing but blew through some bearings the next morning - make sure you have some spares and have a camp hammer in your toolkit. I am so jealous :) Let me know if you're in the Toronto area.
Don’t worry about taking inspiration from other travelers. Very few people get to do what you’re doing and your adventure will be unique no matter what. I’m excited to see how this turns out for you. Good luck!
Brother, the best of luck to you. If you go to Europe make sure to go by Portugal. If I am not traveling around I will be glad to find you nice places to stay.
Ha ha, as soon as the drone cut around that bank, it was my first thought. Lucky & lesson learnt, likely not the last. But great start, my friend, & some really nice footage in all. If you keep doing tough tracks, a 44 or 46 tooth rear sprocket might be worth a go. Standard is 14/42. I settled on a 15/47 which was tad lower than standard, but a good compromise as I never travel much above 95kph
Great episode Eric!! Looks like you’re getting your groove. Bike looks sharp!! Hoping you’ll do a video on all your electronics, mounts and fancy doodads. Buy the look of your set up and videos you have a great system. It would be great to hear about your tablet. What maps are you running. I’ve used Maps me for several trips. What do you like best! Great job on including the lost signal and height settings on your drone! That is something unique that may people new to drones may not know. I’ll bet you saved someone some heart ache. Great stuff. Ride safe. Looking for to the next episode!
On a great adventure. There will be hard times and good times. Never give up. Have a great time though. Good luck in Alaska and keep warm. I will keep my eye on you.
Awesome! I've bike packed that route between Harrison and Pemberton before, starting on the Pemberton side. I've had it in mind as one of the first trips I want to do on my motorcycle. Such a beautiful ride, but lots of steep hills that were pretty brutal on a bicycle. Our GPS also routed us through that first nations town and we stopped for some cold drinks, it was amazing. They actually let us stay at the hotsprings for free because they needed a license plate number to charge us and there was nothing to write down haha.
