This reminds me of a nonexistent puzzle that drove me crazy for years!! In King's Quest V (NES), in the town, there's a guy having trouble with a wagon while blocking a small path between two shops. Once you leave the screen and come back, he's gone forever.
Now, two things: One, most adventurers know this is just how these games work! Solve a clear problem, get a new item or see a new screen. But...
Two: In the instruction manual, there is a picture of the town WITH THE WAGON GONE!
I can't tell you how many hours I spent trying to solve everything I could without going into town (for fear of leaving the screen and possibly making the game unsolvable). I eventually wrote to Sierra On-Line and asked. And they sent back a really awesome little package with a letter thanking me for pointing out the error, some cool ads and stuff, and of course a walk through for the whole game. Back then, before internet was as accessible, that felt like a big deal to get officially from the company.
Anyway, great video! I love seeing long lost adventure game secrets still being discovered.... a small part of me even still dreams of what's beyond that frickin wagon

The fact that the big secret was a memorial room to a guy that hadn't even died yet is the most Shadowgate-y thing I can think of.

Definite evidence that he was murdered by whoever put the room in the game...

Amazing. I wouldn't be surprised though if the people who did all the ports weren't told about this particular secret so it makes sense that it only appears in the original.

11:00 Prayer room. Basilisk room. Scorpion room. Spider room. It's a pity none of this turned up in the Zojoi remake. They included the Black Axe which was left out from the original game but that's it. There is a giant spider in the remake, but it's frozen in the cellar and is just a decoration.

Hopefully some of those will make it into their upcoming sequel?

We should start a petition to patch the TMON room into the 2014 Shadowgate remake
Better yet, we should modify every version of Shadowgate to include a TMON room.

Because the whole "The Mystery of Al Capone's Vaults" fiasco took place a year before this game was made, how much do you want to bet that the bottle of booze being the only thing in that area was a homage.
Also if anyone wants to know what was behind that well room door just check out the remake and experience "Hidden Death 2".😉

I used to wonder what was behind the landslide when I played the NES version back in the day. Thanks for answering!

In the room with the wraith. There is also another exit to the right past the wraith that seemingly cannot be accessed.

I always wondered if that was intended to line up with the exit in the arrow room where the shelf crumbles if you try to access it. That's another exit I always wondered if there was some secret behind it.

I always thought the unaccessable path in the wraith room was connected to the trap door in the room with the ice sphere (right before the drsgon). If you look at the path in the wraith room, the game says that it is too high to reach, and the two rooms seem to line up pretty well if you create a 3D map of the castle.

@@lisamarieligreci-newton7804 the room with the book is right before the room you're talking about. You open the cubbyhole. Go into the next room with the shelf. It doesn't show it but you climb down the shelf to the floor. And when you try to climb back up, the shelf crumbles. It's a way for the game to push the player forward. To get the game "opened" up so to speak.
