  • One of the most important and iconic places in the Resident Evil lore is the secret lab located just outside of raccoon city. Today I thought it would be fun to put it under a microscope and see exactly how much went into both it’s creation and it’s destruction. From smelting employees to giant plant monsters, here are 50 facts about the NEST.

Imagine the resources and money it took to make The Nest only to be destroyed by a Rookie Cop and College Student.

I felt like the re2 remake’s design is futuristic for a 90’s lab 😂 From the huge open atrium to Ada’s hacking device thing.

Ada used a first aid spray, that's how she survived.

I played this game hundreds of times and I still didn't know about the B.O.W gas, or the fact you could use the lighter to kill the plant. Your videos always teach me something new Kai, thank you!

Absolutely love RE2's rendition of the NEST. The super modern white sterile cleanroom look is not unlike the higher level biosafety labs in real life. Things like the plant room are questionable but overall a more believable design than the industrial look of OG RE2

Man Outbreak was such a unique RE game. I really hope we get a proper remake of it. With all these alternate endings and scenarios depending who makes it or if your character is alone etc

Glad you included Outbreak. I have a Steamdeck and it's been a blast playing that game handheld - It's probably one of the best looking PS2 games too.

This’s always been my most favourite part of RE2. The NEST is indeed a good name for this level, cause this place is literally surrounded by living bio organic plant monsters and spread them like a real nest.

3 men, gorilla stance might actually be a holdover texture from re 1.5. the gorillas were probably pretty common in the lab.

I loved the NEST in the remake, it felt like a crime scene waiting to be discovered, especially finding the security tapes and dead USS officers.

never noticed this but, can we appreciate that William all of a sudden became a martial arts god at

I wanted to add a little easter egg you can see in the original RE2, which happens while doing Leon A. Right after seeing Annette get slammed by the pipe and obtaining the G Virus, when going to the West side you have the cutscene of Ada catching up to you and demanding the sample.

Dang. #7 blew my brain out when I tried to remember the shapes for both A & B routes. Now that makes it a lot easier to memorize! Thanks, Kai!

The surprising twist with that puzzle at number 6 was really cool. Not to mention the other entry where you can get rid of the tentacles by using Leon's lighter to burn them. I've been playing Resident Evil 2 for years and I never knew you could get rid of those tentacles that way. I'll have to try that next time I play the game. Thanks for the video, Kai. Love finding out about stuff I didn't know about my favorite game series.

If they only spent enough time to recreate the areas in future games! Both Dino Crisis 2 and Resident evil 0,1,2 and 3 is so far ahead in terms of enviroment design and concept that I´m to this day getting amazed all over seeing these games. Just the sheer detail and compatability of the environment assets and elements is just crazy. Those games must have been a complete dream to work on. True AAA games. Only game I can say have done anything similar now most be "The Ascent". Top notch enviroment design there as well. Yeah almost forgot Parasite Eve 2, but that one is old.
