That lad on the acoustic guitar is having the absolute time of his life so good to see
Not sure that acoustic is being heard much in the mix unfortunately!
the guy on keys/synth is too! i saw Sam live at The Bowery Ballroom and the synth dude is so high energy it's insane
DEANOOOO
@@barking_mad6649 It is literally the base of everything, it is so loud
Barking_Mad the song would sound empty without it and this mix perfect
when he says "no wonder you can't stand me, I can't stand me too. I can't stand me too." I felt that
yeah
Wanna talk?
@@juliafrost4967 it's just, mental illness has been kicking my ass recently. I've been feeling worse and worse, and I have no energy left to do anything, and then I feel guilty about wasting my time. I don't know what to do to get out of it and I'm scared and exhausted
@@lfkdodlzl I feel you and we are here for you if you want to speak your heart out. I´m going to listen without judgment. Maybe we can help each other out. We don't have to go through this alone :)
@@juliafrost4967 from the bottom of my heart, thank you. the same goes to you. we still have time to heal:)
A young lad with great vocals doing great music with his amazing band. Lyrics about social media, male suicide, nuclear weapons, toxic masculinity, amongst others. DEF an artist WORTH LISTENING.
jon jon lol you old tosser.
LM AO nope, i love meat lol. I do try to eat salads twice a week tho. Thank you for caring about my eating habits 🤗

I occasionally return to this comment for an easy giggle
This fucking guitar tone man, COME ON. Hands down best tune on the album.
i agree
Jag?
So dope. Dire Straights tone
He's unbelievably good man
This lad is something special. It feels authentic and kind of classic. Guitars, bass and drums (even a sax solo) and a working class kid with a voice and something he wants to say. I'm sold.
Present day Bruce Springsteen vibes
like oasis
And live man. Live. This kid rocks.
Deanos a pure beast man that's why
When he looks up to the heavens after he says "and now she's gone.."
I totally broke inside :(
She’s deeeead
Shivers 😵
Cracking , that smile after nailing the solo and bridge.
Charlie Colgan he knows he cracked It well there like.
@Rob Sutherland so? Practice makes perfect
@Rob Sutherland I never said it was the first take, nor do I give a fuck if it was the 100th he still nailed it that time
@Rob Sutherland It doesn't have to be your first attempt in order for it to have "nailed it". You having a bad day mate?
@Rob Sutherland it is a live recording here. And he nailed it in pretty much every live performance of The Borders. He recently played it on Seth Meyers' talk show, check that one out.
There isn't a bad track on Hypersonic Missiles.
periodt.
White privilege
Cracking album
As John McKenzie has said, White Privilege. The fact that that got on the album instead of All is on my side is mind boggling.
@@badgasaurus4211 all is on my side came out after the album did. White privilege is actually a very good song imo
This guy is the future of British music.
Correct
This individual performance of this incredible song is my favourite piece of music ever made. There is something absolutely jaw-dropping about the passion and catharsis behind Sam's music, and I am and will always be here for it. The saxophone and guitars in this song are impeccable, Sam's performance is mind-boggling and the combination of belting instruments and intimate, personal lyrics is masterful. It's very rare that I ever comment on a youtube video, but exceptions have to be made for pieces of art as unique, honest, beautiful and life-affirming as this song is for me. Five and a half minutes will never be enough.
So brilliantly said! This performance is mind blowing and leaves me speechless . So happy you've put it into words. 🥰
SPOT ON
Agree. 100 times agree
It certainly does have that effect! Love Dean in the corner as well absolutely having the time of his life
My old man just passed and this song reminds me so much of him 😢
RIP POPS
Hope your OK bro 🙏
Both albums are absolutely amazing. Thanks Sam for carrying on the legacy of good old Rock 'n Roll
Don't know why, but this track just brings me to tears every time.
Me too. Clearly his cousin or someone he loved that got handed a worse hand in life, a hand that destroyed him. Sam feels guilt about that. I have similar life experiences, they hurt so bad
Think the song is about him and a childhood friend, it’s about neglect I believe x
Same, most of his songs do to be honest. Never experienced a music artist like Sam. Unreal lad
Spit of You hits me the same way. Sam's young to be tapping into emotions like he does, especially on a mass scale.
I’m just losing my mind over this song and this performance. I’d almost forgotten what it’s like to hear raw talent with something they want to say. Honestly beautiful.
Exactly . It's jus terrific and so freaking beautiful ❤️
When he tells that story about his mum finding a new man, and his grandmother speaking to him like an adult, and didn't take sides and didn't poison him against his dad (which is in itself is a really a powerful and personal line) Then he ends it with "Then she took those pills and now she's gone." Boom. That is song writing.
I always get chills at that line. Phenomenal song, definitely a favourite
Godmother not grandmother!
This is amongst my favourite songs of all time. Just when you think our best music is behind us, Sam Fender turns up and changes everything. Best artist within the last 15-20 years. No contest.
Agreed. Thought I was moving into that phase of thinking the good music was behind us and then Sam turns up and becomes one of my favourite musicians ever.
No truer words can be spoken …
The man’s a fkn legend already
He’s certainly lived another life before the cesspool he’s currently occupying
There’s nobody better for sure …
Feeling a Bruce Springsteen vibe from this in the lyrics and the sax
Yes, a total Rip off. Brandon flowers sounds the same as this guy, both are totally shit and got nothing on bruce

I’ve listened to this song so many times since it came out but for some reason this version really blew me away and made me well up. Good on you Sam, with talent like yours you deserve all the success in the world ❤️
one of the best songs i've heard in the last decade.
True!
This is so good. Like, mind-blowingly good. The fact they're a bunch of mates having the time of their lives makes it even more special.

I'm blowned away at 2:54-3:13😱. His voice blends so well with the sound of the saxophone 🥰.
I just discovered him over the weekend. I’m obsessed with how real his songs are. So refreshing. What a talented guy.
Rhiana Thomas Same
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 got the album on repeat all day. Extra brilliant loud in the car 😘
Same xD
YESS
Only he can sing with an angelic voice about a low leveled serotonin lifestyle of so many of our youth and make it a tragically beautiful few minutes
04:55 This saxo is my new drug. This is my favorite part of the song. That saxo sounds amazing. Every note he plays on this song Live sounds so good.
The way they kind of bounce the sax and guitar solos off each other is the best thing I've heard in music in a long time
Fuck me did not expect a solo like that, I’m damn impressed 🔥
This is about a bloke from yetholm in the Scottish Borders. I don’t live too far away from there myself, Sam fender is a genius musician, I can’t tell you how much I love this song, it is absolutely beautiful, sexy, and his band are loving it and buzzing in their performance. This young man from North Shields is going to blow the music industry away further than he has so far. This is like an 80s band. Incredible and what a fucking guitarist!!!!! You utter legend son
iv got a question lol j.w ?
Had a few beers and I move house in the morning so the drums are shaking my fucking walls. Proud geordie
This song proves that no matter what background you come from you can make it if you follow your dreams.
He’s one of the very few artists who sounds even better live!
Very true! No autotune needed.
I think decades will pass and I'll keep listening to this song (particularly this version of this song), as I've listened to Alchemy's version of 'Sultans of Swing' or 'Tunnel of Love' for years and years.
I abso-fucking-lutely love everything about this video: the stage, the lighting, the audio quality and even Sam's gestures. I adore how focused he is on giving a world class performance. An absolute classic and modern masterpiece!
We need a "Seventeen Going Under" and a "Last To Make It Home" Vevo Lift Session
Said it before and I'll say it again, another belter. Springsteen sax shines through and guitar sound of "The war on drugs". Top tune 👍BIG things ahead
i aspire to be as smiley and happy as his acoustic guitar player
And now she’s gone….Shivers
Listened to this song every day for 2 years!
Nearly 3 years now and still listen to it all the time 😆

Great Post 👍
No one around like Sam. Just love him
He has a beautiful unique 80s voice. I usually never like voices in this age, they all sound the same - cringe, and annoying, this guy sounds so GOOD. And bonus an AMAZING GUITARIST!
Tigress I hear so much Brandon flowers
It’s a beautiful powerful force
What a gift
Totally 80's, but the good part of the 80's.

I'm sure The Boss has this in his spotify playlist. :) awesome
One of the few live performances that actually outclass the original studio song. Good work, Sam.
That house was living hell. Chills man
Love this version, the key is perfect. The Glastonbury version was also excellent,
This is literally one of the most beautiful performances of a song I have ever seen/heard.
I absolute love this song I play it everyday it help my stress
Sam's best song. Strong vocals and band is tight. This should be his sound as he said he still didnt know what he wanted in his sound
i've watched this 5 times a week since it came out
The tune is so nostalgic
I love Sam. It’s like living through the 80’s again with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. ❤
Sam Fender + Sax is the single best thing since Bread in slices.
I listen to this every day and it brings me to tears every time. One of the best songs I've ever heard.
Amazing talent, brilliant to say the least. Xx
2:23 epic moment
This song is brilliant. And this performance is flawless. Perfectly mixed.
Yup. The composition of instruments, vocals - everything. Sometimes the planets just align to bring about something amazing.
The best song to come out of 2019, absolutely brilliant. Cant help but think of The Boss and the E Street band when I hear this.
It's as if 1975 came back again, as if Bruce put the pieces back together after finding Clarence and Max, but this time it comes fresher, clearer and when all of us born to run ,are gone, Sam and his Band will be here forever.
WHAT. A. SESSION.
I think he's my favourite artist. It's been years since I've been able to say that anyone was this consistent with keeping me in awe.

Sam just hits different in this video!
The best Music to come out of the UK at the moment......by far!
I'm in my late 40s and I've seen well in excess of 300 bands but never seen such energy as Sam.
I'm 60 Jonathan but I agree. I haven't quite seen 300 bands, but close to it
Arctic Monkeys Bet you look good on the dancefloor had energy to burn. As did KOL for the whole of their first album but Sam has pure talent thats for damn sure and he has hints of Bruce Springsteen,The Killers you name a top artist and they're in here but Sam style.

Shit fire. I’m getting off watching them all get off. Incredible, pure passion and raw electricity.

"Heard you glassed a boy back in the borders, some naughty family boys are after you. You pinned me to the wall and said my mother, stole your inheritance from you. Well we ain't, we ain't got a penny between wuh. Holding up this tin that we live in. You pinned me to the wall and smashed the bottle, your eyes a door to hell and all within."

Happiest rhythm guitarist in the business
That guitar solo from 4:05 😮😮🤤🤤
Love this, Sam can kill it vocally when performing live whereas most can't now. Gives me faith that real music and talent isnt dead. ❤

What a talent...North Shields finest..Howay the Lads
Can't get enough of this song. The vocals, lyrics, guitar, sax. It's perfect. I just wish he would drop an octave in the beginning of the second verse like he does on the album ("I remember my mother, when she found a new man..."
scott tisdale I’m glad he doesn’t drop an octave here - this is better than the version on the album. Hands down.
MrBigred1990 i think overall it is a better experience to hear him live, but I still stand by my comment that it is way better on the album when he drops down that octave in the second verse. It’s adds some variety that is much needed. That’s my opinion, you have yours. Have a great day.
scott tisdale fair play Scott, have a great day! Either way, a great tune 🤘🏼
MrBigred1990 amazing tune. Cannot deny that! Stay safe.
Best new British artist in years
This song is timeless. I keep coming back to it again and again ever since it was first released and it sounds even better live. I can’t wait for Sam’s new album next year.

¡Present in Mexico!! Love you music!
Sounds exactly the same live, I’d even say better than on records. Saw him live at Finsbury Park last weekend, the first time I have ever got emotional at a gig - so did he. I adore Sam Fender, he’s helped me through very hard times, strange I know as he doesn’t have a clue who I am haha. Great lad, great music. Can’t ask for more than that in an artist. Sam fender for life x

I was there, was amazing. Definitely gonna see him again
I cut the grass today with this on repeat through my headphones........my garden is 7000sqm. Danced all the way
What an amazing performance. Such a brilliant song too. What is wrong with this world is that Sam Fender's songs don't have hundreds of millions of hits. He is special.
