    More than any other male singer in the U.K. right now Sam is switched on to male vulnerability. He’s the best because he’s bold af and would rather spill his guts than sell a tune. Lad.

      @@DigitalDaffodil it does. The song deals with having problems with your dad but also knowing you're not too different. This line is a metaphor for how even after many years, when your dad dies, you still haven't been able to be different than him and he's still your dad besides all the problems.

    "You kissed her her forehead, and it ran like a tap" That line absolutely kills me. Instantly reminds me of My Gran who passed in October 21 and how much both my dad and I hurt. The line still tears me up even 6 months later.
    On a happier note. This lad has a very bright future and I reckon he'll become one of the biggest uk acts.

    This hits me in the guts in a way I can’t recall any individual song ever doing previously. I’m not outwardly emotional as a person but for 3+ minutes listening to this I could cry like a baby without really being able to explain why.

      Great lyrics, great voice, great melody, but above all it might be in the delivery. The fact that he sings quite high in his register may be a big part of why the vocals are so compelling.

    Love this song.
    I’m 33 and lost my dad a few years ago after a lifetime of little to no relationship with him. Every day I regret we couldn’t build our bridges.

      i lost my dad nearly 16 years ago now at 23. This is the first song released post his death that makes me think of him and miss him and basically break down. Street Spirit and The Scientist were the others and played at his funeral, so in excellent company!

    this song always hits heavy for me and reminds me of my younger years and being estranged from my father.. I am almost 30 now and we actually have a pretty good relationship but we've never had the deep talks or any of that, its always surface level. But the older i got the more I saw him in the way I am even.

    My mates nephew plays in this band and tells a great story about a very expensive bottle of wine that got broken when they were at Elton Johns house as guests for the weekend. I hope he tells it publicly one day because it is a great story and not mine to tell.

    His accent falls into place amazingly and carries this tune all the way through I’ve known of Sam for about a year now but only just heard this masterpiece as I got up and outta bed for a roll up at 4 in the morning and I’m still sat here sober listening to as many live renditions I can find nobody does it like the 12string fender
