    I know this vid is from years back but Oh my God you just saved my ass today! I just started a multimedia communications course and we are focusing on creating videos right now. I just got my Canon EOS 5D Mark iii but had no idea how to use it for video and since I bought it second hand, the settings were all jacked up- at least, not set for what I need for producing quality video. Thank you soooo much for doing this tutorial, new sub, will check out your other vids as I am sure there is a ton of info I could use beyond the basics of setting my camera up for video. Cheers! Cat-

    I shoot most video using my old Minolta /Rokkor lenses. All Manual focus and the look and feel is much more organic. I use an adapter from Fotodiox to adapt my lens to my 5D mark 3. I use a simple rubber focus ring on the lens for focusing.
    LOL Love the Romper Room Reference.

    Rokinon cinema lenses are amazing bang for buck, manual focus only. great look though. Sigma Art lenses are great for docs, 18-35mm 1.8 and the sigma 24-70 2.8, creamy images. tameron has comparable lenses. those two lenses cover most of what you would need for a doc film set up. and check out litra pro for hand held chimeras bi color, bright.

    Thanks for another great video. I point everyone I come across who has an interest in videography to your excellent premiere pro videos. hopefully it helps grow your subscribers numbers. I do have a question. I've been working on scuba footage which is challenging from a lighting and color editing perspective. If possible, I'm wondering if you would be willing to put together a video on editing scuba footage that shows tips and tricks when working with clips that require heavy color/noise reduction and sharpening editing. I can send you clips if you don't have any (most are small clips, 15 sec to a minute max). I (and many others) would love to see a pros workflow for this type of footage. thanks again for everything

    • @chinfat
      @chinfat  3 года назад +1

      It does to an extent. Yes. Still photography differs to a degree. For one example, ISO can be boosted higher. You can sometimes get away with shooting at 6400 ISO and not detect the grain. The grain is noticed when you are playing back in motion photography.

    Hello there and thanks for the in depth tutorial on the Canon 5D Mk iii for video. I have got a question for you and I am hoping that you will be able to answer. When I focus on an object and then I decide to pan left, or right, even up and down (without zooming in-out) would the camera maintain the focus? I have tried this but has not worked for me!!! In the kitchen I focused on some plates that where by the sink, and went to the dinning room, I then came back to the kitchen, it was not in focus. I did not touch it, nor zoomed in-out. Any idea, how to achieve this please? Thank you very much...

    • @chinfat
      @chinfat  5 лет назад +1

      Do you have an AF/MF switch on the actual lens? That is the auto focus/manual focus switch. If so, turn it to MF. Other than that, not sure what the issue may be.

    • @TheRedpool
      @TheRedpool 5 лет назад

      Hi there and thanks for the response. I leave it on an MF, which is Manual focus, however I am still having the same issue!!!

    • @chinfat
      @chinfat  5 лет назад +1

      Hmmmm... not sure on that one. Is it doing it with one lens or all lenses?@@TheRedpool
