    I absolutely love this concert from Hollywood FL 1981. Lots of great songs here like "Joan Crawford" and "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars". They also did 2 covers "Roadhouse Blues" and "Born To Be Wild" BTW that is Rick Downey on drums. Started with BOC as drum tech, tour manager, and crew chief then took over on the drums when Albert Bouchard left.

    Ask me two kind of people i say are untouchable: Drummers and Rallydrivers... both underrated behind the front glam.
    Im not a drummer but i always loved to hear or/and see drumming, the control of four tentacles is insane.
    Rallydrivers are another breed noone steps on... lol maniacs

    BEEN ROCKIN TO THIS BAND SINCE 1973, SEEN THEM THREE TIMES IN CONCERT. FIRST BAND TO USE LAZERS IN THIER SHOW, TO A SONG CALLED ASTRONOMY. AT ONE POINT ALL FIVE MEMBERS, WERE LINED UP ON THE FRONT OF THE STAGE WITH A GUITAR. THEY ALL PLAYED SOMETHING DIFFERENT, BUT IT ALL WENT TOGETHER. HARVESTER OF EYES, IS ALSO A GREAT TUNE. ROCK ON 👊🖖

    The Red and the Black is their No. 1 legacy song. It goes back to their Soft White Underbelly days, though under a different name. They recorded it as Stalk Forrest Group, but that recording ws never released commercially.
    The Red and the Black as the Red and the Black first appeared on their 2nd album, Tyranny & Mutation. Another track I'd love to hear your review on is Baby Ice Dog. It is my absolute favorite on that album and one my all-time favorites throughout their whole category. It is easily their most underrated song. The whole T&M collection is great. Not a bad song.

    What is interesting about BÖC is that their eclectic and esoteric lyrics made me curious. Stendahl wrote a novel entitled "The Red and the Black." It's a very good book. When I was young and listening to BÖC I was also reading a novel a week. Now, in my dotage I can barely manage a short story in a month. I suffer from ennui.

    This drummer is not the original drummer. He was their road manager who stepped in when Albert Bouchard left the band suddenly (it wasn't pretty). This guy, Rick Downey is good, but he was no Albert. Albert's loss was great since he was not only the drummer, and a great one at that, but he also wrote and sang on many songs.

    • @labluvver
      @labluvver 2 года назад +2

      Rick was the lighting technician, in fact, and a sweetheart of a guy, but you're spot on. He filled in because he was needed, but losing Albert ultimately led to BOC's almost immediate nosedive into mediocrity.

  • @tomgorman748
    @tomgorman748 2 года назад +4

    So, good drumming comments. I know how you feel. When it comes to rock music, most tempos are 4/4, so I’m pretty good at predicting cymbal crashes, etc. Just so you know, all of the other BÖC songs you reacted to were with the original drummer, Albert Bouchard. This live version from the early 80’s has their roadie Rick Downey on drums. He was a “serviceable” drummer, but after this tour and the next album The Revolution by Night, he was gone. Keep the BÖC coming! One other note, this was from their 2nd album, and is basically a reworking of a song from album #1, I’m on the Lamb but I ain’t no Sheep. Take a turn with that one just to see how it morphed into this one. Maybe not a reaction, but pull it up in Spotify or something. It’ll only cost you a little over 3 minutes. As far as your next BÖC reaction, my vote would be for Nosferatu from their Spectres album.

    • @tomwoliver
      @tomwoliver 2 года назад +1

      Nosferatu is a great and completely overlooked track!

  • @scifimonkey3

    Chod I think that you may have done ‘Trains’ but don’t seem to have done much Porcupine Tree on the channel which is a shame as I would love to hear your drummers take on Gavin Harrison who is IMHO one of the worlds most creative drummers. My suggestion would be the song ‘Don’t Hate me’ live version from Chicago.
