Glad someone saved it, those are priceless.
It's a great discussion piece too!
If I was building a camper, I would finish the inside exactly like that. I love that retro look.
I love the old paneling
Looks good the way it is
Fantastic shape for 62 holy cow. Nice truck and camper combo!
Thanks! It's pretty popular everywhere I take it!
I really think that truck camper is very cool. That was built when things were actually built to last. Its obviously been taken care of. I've seen 10 yr old campers with more wood that needs replaced than that one had. You're going to have a gem there when it's completed. 👍
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Smart dog 4:15 Every time I get behind the wheel and start driving away, my dog walks right in front of the car and stands there. Nice build by the way!
Typically he likes to walk beside me, probably wondering "where are you going without me human?"
Love the wood cabinets and the vintage character.
Glad you like it!
What a gem! 💎💎💎💎
Thanks!
REALLY Cool!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
good luck looks like a lot of work but a fun project
Thanks! It definitely was a ton of work!
I absolutely love it can’t wait to catch up to the latest videos 😊
Thank you very much for this video. You have presented the unit quite well and in such a way that I can see how it was laid out, as well as built. I'm a model builder, and am using your video for reference on my RUclips channel as I'm building a model of a pickup camper and showing others how it's built. Your video has been extremely valuable to me.
@@TheModelingHermit that sounds pretty cool! Let me know when you've got the video out!
@@StateFun I have a series of videos going on it. I have a new one that will be up in a day or two. I'll keep you posted. Again, thanks for sharing your videos. They have been very helpful.
That's a nice old rig!
Thanks!
Thankyou, for this video..I appreciate cabcamper lot of fun and cozy comfy, when upgraded to your style of taste .house goes were you go .!! Love it...thanks again
Glad you enjoyed it!
Omg your doggy! Right there by you!💓💛💓😻😘😘
Golden's are the best aren't they?!?
I love old things they were just made better!!!
Agreed!
Cummins powered 60's pickup (1 ton). Way cool too!
Thanks! I think it's a pretty unique setup!
love it. great lay out
I LOVE retro stuff so I absolutely love this camper. This is the first of your videos I've seen so I hope you keep with the retro look and decor during the remodel. The light fixtures are very cool and you don't see those anymore. That would definitely be a keeper for me.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the series. It turned out really well in my opinion!
@@StateFun I saw the before and after video. It definitely looks different.
Love vintage campers. They are so cool! Lynn and Danny
It's amazing how much is packed into such a small space
This is awesome!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Been excited to see this phase of the project. That thing is really in great condition for a camper of it's age, usually after 10 years the newer campers go to crap. At least that one used real wood when it was originally constructed.
Thanks , your whole set up is most excellent :)
Thanks for the compliment!
Love the old truck. 3/4 ton? Good to hold camper. Can not wait to see what you do.
What 1 ton. Wow.
@@mikeanderson6522 In the final configuration it'll have a 3/4 ton axle under the rear so I'll probably still call it a 3/4.
Jake, there should NEVER be any exposed to the elements. I suggest that you spray on the Rough Coat Undercoat, used as a pick up truck bed liner.
Thanks! That's another great idea!
Jake when you remove any water rotted wood, replace the new wood with MARINE grade wood. MARINE wood if water resistent.
Interesting. I didn't realize there was such a thing!
Hey man I love this little Chevy.
Thanks! I do too!
Growing up in the 60's we had a camper similar to that one. It was a Rancho El Ray brand. Watching this brings back fun memories of Yellowstone, Canada, and pretty much all over. Now to watch the finished video.
Thanks for watching. Glad it brings back good memories!
Man love the setup you got. It will be a sweet ride when it is done. That truck is nice.
Thanks! It was a great craigslist find. I love driving it
Nice old vintage camper nice job would love to find one to restore.
It was a pretty lucky craigslist find a few years ago!
Beautiful
Thanks!
It’s cool!
Jake love your truck, the slide in (a real gem) and even your dog. It's going to be fun seeing you progress with this great project that you'll enjoy for a real long time.
Thanks for the compliments! I hope you enjoy the remodel series!
Very nice
Thanks!
Wow! My grandpa had a 1963 Chevy Apache half ton with a straight sis engine. He built houses for a living so he built a camper kind of like yours. This brought back dear memories! Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub! Hope you enjoy the remodel series!
Sweet truck! I had a 66 Chevy.
Yeah these body styles are great!
This is super cool! Can't wait to see what's next! :)
Thanks! Hope you enjoy the series!
Can’t wait to see your renovations
Hope you enjoy the playlist!
Late 70s through early 90s lived in one like that . 🤗😫😱 Were the emotions depending on Season. Rebuilding it with today's equipment technology will make it Better 😁. The slat window is worthless in most cases unfortunately 🥺 . Looking forward to your journey .😁
The rebuild went pretty well, didn't improve insulation any, but added some nice electrical needs. Hope you enjoy the playlist!
I’m getting ready to make the same repair! Thanks for the hand over hand! I appreciate it!
Glad you enjoyed it
Just subscibed ... watching on from UK ... wish we had truck campers like that here .. love it
Thanks for the sub! It is nice having the American car history here.
Awe it looks so cute. I can't wait to see what you do with it!
Hope you enjoy the playlist!
Amazing!...manufactured the year I was born. Love the interior; it was probably 'top of the line' for it's time. Looking forward to your remodeling but such a shame if you end up having to get rid of that beautiful original wood paneling.
I was really torn on whether to remodel it or not, but the wood damage I had seen was enough to finally change my mind. Stinks to see the original go but it turned out quite well
Hey bud you should pull the siding of first because exterior metal is the last thing put on before vents and windows. Remember your going backwards to do a proper restoration. I built RV's and Mobile homes back in the 90's. Rear wall last, electric, insulation, siding, windows, vents, door and trim.
Thanks for the tip. I've already finished the remodel, but for future, do you have any tips on pulling it off without messing it up? I pulled a corner back to fix some damage and ripped the metal because of all the staples holding it together
Great job! -From Natalie
Thanks Natalie!
awesome truck chamber with so replacement wood putting in MAX FAN that can plow air in /out with rain senser the lid will close if it rain,s
I actually added an air conditioner, but I know the Max fan is a common upgrade unit.
I might be late to the comments but very nice
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I bought a 1972 maybe 1974...
Unable to know just yet.
Eldorado truck camper.
It's 8 foot camper and I have a 6+ ft bed on my 2002 Silverado
Very little rot in the camper..
I start repairs soon.
When the weather breaks.
Sounds like a fun project!
I have one just like it. The brand is called a Dreamer
That Truck Is Pretty Awesome In Itself.... It Sounds Like A Diesel If So Did You Do The Swap..
It is a 12v Cummins. I did a frame/body swap! Here's the playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLiMyms5I4SKjWq9KWxWIRYMkLE7zipqL5
I would never tear up that camper the interior is beautiful you'll probably lose a bunch of subscribers if you mess with the interior
Unfortunately, the water damage was scaring us a little too much. Didn't want to risk losing the entire camper so riping out the paneling to replace the wood was how we repaired the wood. It could have been done from the outside I guess, but that would have been much more difficult I believe.
Seating space is people storage. Jalosie
👍
The camper is cool but that truck!!!!!
Truck is a winner as well. The combo makes it best I think!
lol to stabilize the truck at night for winds :)
You're the first person to comment about that 😂
i just bought a truck camper + truck yesterday and the ONLY song (swear no prompting) that's been giving me life since before and presently is "giving you the best that i got" -anita baker fitting for a revamp.. but low key if u wanna make/create/market camper/truck legs/tripods/tiedown connections the concept could be "let's get it on" juuuuuuuust sayin ;)
the subtly wasn't garish but it did nancy drew me into decoding the recommendation
I love the camper and pick-up. I would love to find one for myself!
Thanks for the compliment! It was quite a find!
Looks nice. But I hate how top heavy they are.
Yeah, the newer suspension from the frame swap helps a ton with the sway though!
At the beginning at the video I thought he said he was Jake from state farm
What kind of shades are those you’re wearing🤓👍
Safety glasses most of the time. Safety first(ish)! But the shades were Shady Rays!
Right ...correction ...1 ton...diesel...100%
I think it can be argued either way, the frame and suspension is 1 ton, but I swapped a 3/4 axle under it later on.
3/4 ton
MAN THAT IS. SO COOL I WANT ONE. U WANT SELL IT L O L
I'm way too attached to it now!
Should leave it orginal
It already wasn't original, and I needed to repair the rotten wood. There's good and bad to the remodel, but mostly good in my opinion.
bathroom......
That would be a very welcome addition!
Could have been a great video, if not for that annoying music
This is a scam
