This is very disappointing. You are going to have people wanting to see the inside because they think they are going to see a piece of history, only to be disappointed. Why did you get a vintage camper only to modernize it? Now it looks like any 2022 camper that you can get off a lot on the inside. The wood was gorgeous and unique. If you had restored it, it would have been worth more in the end. Keeping it original and just fixing the issues it had, would have been the smart way to go.
Gorgeous reno! 😃 Noticed a negative comment below about removing the original interior wood panels. Yes, the warm varnished wood is beautiful; however: 1). They may not understand that this had to be done to reach & repair the rot and leaks. 2). Finding thin pliable replacement stain-grade wood veneer has not been easy or cheap the past two years. If a hobbyist has the time & money to do detailed "original restoration" work ~ wonderful! 👍 But not everyone has that luxury. Or inclination. Value & over-investing in a project matters too ~ the expression, "Trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear," comes to mind. Regardless, I think you did a marvelous job with this camper :)
Saw this truck at kings mountain state park this weekend. Thing looks great. I wanted to ask about it but didn’t want to bother you. Really nice work, you did a great job!
It wouldn't have been a bother! With a truck like this it draws a bit of attention, and I'm happy to show it off! Hope you enjoyed the camping as much as we did.
Well, I spent a good part of my evening watching this truck camper rebuilt series and love the work you and Emily put into it. Absolutely awesome. Well done. Wishing you lots of time to get out and enjoy it!
Thanks for watching the process! And commenting on my videos!(It really helps) We've had a couple camping trips, and are excited for the weather to warm back up and get out again! Good luck on your rebuild project!
Left a comment in the previous video with the camper in the original condition. A shame that you had to get rid of the original wood paneling but man oh man, you did such a fantastic job!👍 It's a really beautiful refurbishment; very impressive. 🤗 (and the camera loves you, btw) 😏
thoroughly enjoyed this video....excellent project....turned out striking! You also are easy to listen to, and the video work is really well done...i subscribed...thanks
Wow, I'm impressed! Yall did a great job redoing everything. Looks great! Cute decor. Sweet pups. You found a perfect camping spot too. My son is working on a truck now, and has a van camper he's working on here and there. So I know of all your efforts. You definitely have a gem to treasure. 😊👍
What a great summary of the remodel. And bonus material of you guys actually out camping in it. The vintage set up with the time correct truck and camper is so cool. Keep up the great videos!!
If you use the right hand burner, you might want to add a (?) black painted aluminum piece like it was original piece. It looks a bit close and a hazard. Looks great.
Gre88888t video and work. Next time you do this can I recommend you use treated wood to replace the old? I'm weird that way haha. It only costs a little more but gives a lot more peace of mind because most all truck campers leak eventually and using treated wood will preserve it for the next buyer ;). I really like your remodel job...I have just started the same remodel as yours on an old 70's truck camper. I really like your rear door with those louvered window glass...what did you say they call them? Those kinds of rear doors are probably not available any more and if they were it would be very expensive (IMO). My old camper has the same type of windows on the sides and love them old things...they allow you to open the windows when it's raining out. Hope to see a video or two of you out in the woods camping in it, cooking, sitting around the camp fire etc. nice to watch vids like that. I bet your dogs love being out camping...mine do! peace and thumbs up!
Yeah, Lowe's didn't have any 1 by treated lumber. I used treated for the exterior parts though. The windows are Jelousie style. They're nice, but not very insulated.
But Stone Mountain is mainly in Georgia; so y'all just camped on the NC side, right? It's been decades since I visited Stone Mountain( i was in middle school or high school, field trip) . It's on my bucket list to go back there 🙂
You are such a talented and hard working young man that I feel bad even asking this...but why not simply buy a newer camper versus removing all that history? These old rigs are just about gone. We've gotten to where we don't restore, we replace. You did a great job so I'm just wondering if it couldn't be saved or if this was your plan from the start.
The main issue was the wood rot we could see and weren't sure how far it had progressed. We could have replaced the sides and ceiling with the same style panel board, but it still wouldn't be original then. My opinion, the originality was lost when a previous owner put in a mini fridge and faucet, so making the camper much more enjoyable to use made the most sense to me. I wasn't necessarily planning on the remodel originally, but between the need to remove rot and realizing the luxuries I'd want added, the project kept growing until I decided to go all in. Great question by the way!
@@StateFun that makes total sense and some updates are absolutely necessary for use. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. You really did do a beautiful job with the camper and the truck. A real dream team.

We try! Thanks for the compliment!
Beautiful Remodel!
BEAUTIFUL JOB ‼️ HOW OLD ARE YOUR DOGGIES, THEY ARE FANTASTIC ‼️‼️🐕🐕. Vinny 🇺🇸

Oh my god. I can't believe you painted that wood white.
I think it turned out pretty good!
I'm with you. Why not just buy a new camper then demolish a cool old piece of history.
Wowza! Now that is a renovation. It seems you kept the bones of the trailer and just fixed the water damage. Very nice!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

A heat shield there probably would be a good idea. So far we've only used the left burner.

Hey my friend I live in Eatonton Georgia. Not far from Atlanta and stone mountain.
Sweet. This was actually at Stone Mountain in NC instead. Haven't been to the GA one yet!
Great job! I love it! Got to be in GA?

@@melissafields3376 it's actually two completely different mountains with the same name, the NC one is a lot less known!
@@StateFun thanks for letting me know 🙂 my knowledge about it is rusty lol. It's been about 40 years since I visited 👍

Just one question, why didn’t you put in insulation when you gutted the inside?
Ya know, that would have been a good idea... Dang, I didn't think about it since there wasn't much if any before. Too late now!
How about solar and or a generator set up ?
Solar/generator is a future addition if I start boondocking more. But right now it's not worth the cost since there's power connection where I go.
@@StateFun right on..
Wow you screwed that truck and the camper up
It went from Looking VERY nice to Very Ugly and Boring. You should have kept the Wood Color look. But now its ruined and Worth SO MUCH LESS.
