When I was 11 we moved back to Canada from Germany - Dad's next posting was in Comox on Vancouver Island. He and Mom bought a Datsun pickup - a King Cab with a diesel engine and 5 speed transmission. FIFTY HP! A few months later Dad found a used Okanagan truck camper in Calgary and he and I drove there and back to pick it up. It was a great trip and I have fond memories! It was pretty basic - no AC, no bathroom, and the main bed was the dinette. My bed folded out up top and Dad only had to sit up and hit his head on it once for me to be relocated to the tent, with the dog for company. We kept it when we moved to Calgary the year after and had it for a couple more years. Family camping trips were such good times. 20 plus years later in Ottawa where we live, my wife and I decided that camping - campERing, sorry - would be fun with our two year old daughter. For eleven years we did just that, first in a pop up and then in one travel trailer followed by another. I agree with you on the Fantastic fan - I've installed a few and they're great! Always with a shroud so they can be run one the road and/or in the rain. Camping was the best kind of family time for us. Thanks for the tour of you great truck camper. It kinda makes me want to get back out there....
This is the absolute BEST truck camper I’ve ever seen....!!!! So jealous 😁 I love the bathroom, so clean, functional, & perfect!! I also love the kitchen and the couch area!!! Everything is so smart!! I’m inspired & I want one! Thank you for this awesome video!! 🏕
Yeah these are definitely a really well put together camper! All space is utilized and has everything you need!. Glad you like the video and thanks for dropping a comment!
This is pretty much the exact camper I want. I could easily see my wife and I living in this full time. Your back yard is anywhere and you have nearly every amenity you need. Definitely a retirement goal. Awesome overview!
Hey buddy if you do go to living in one and I hope yall do I would suggest putting solar in. It will save yall a lot of money in the long run living in one especially winter. I've lived in campers for 8 + years in my life at different times and winter time was expensive and was tuff dealing with propane bottles. I had room for 2 30pound bottles in last camper and I thank GOD I did cause I was going through a 30 pound bottle every 2 and a half days running central heat in camper but it kept me warm with no problem and spring to fall I would only use 1 to 1 and a half 30 pound bottle for cooking and hot water. I sure wished I would've had solar. It's just a suggestion and I hope it might help you and others! Take care and Happy Trails my friend!
You would hate the tiny waste tanks full timing. Find a 9.5' if your truck will handle it. So much better and easier to empty. Otherwise if you use the shower you will be dumping every day or other day...or notshowering.
I really truly had no idea that they still made those kinds of campers....my grandparents had 1 like that when I was a child... grandparents had it in a dodge 3/4 ton 4 on the floor with a granny gear... we used to take trips all over the U.S.A with that rig... I was probably about 6-9 before it got to where they could not go any more...in that rig anyway... then they got a motor home... I loved that motor home... I could lay r play games with my sister in the bed while they drove one of them got tired of driving needed a nap and boom..go take a nap...a/c worked good to while we were going down the road.... I think the generator had to be running for the A/C to work while it was not plugged in to a outlet like at a campground... it was a blast....
Just found you’re truck camper videos. My wife and I truck camp also, we’re going to Golf Shores this weekend. We are hooked because it’s so simple. You can park just about any where. It’s amazing at the room you have in your truck bed if you have a truck camper. We have a 2500 Dodge Ram with a Bigfoot camper.
Awesome! I appreciate you checking the channel out. We are hooked as well so far. By far my favorite aspect is the fact that you can park in any parking spot. We like to check out dive bars in random towns while traveling and the truck camper makes it easy to do so. I always wanted to get the Bigfoot, but haven't found a deal on one. They are pretty hard to come by in my area. Sounds like a nice rig you have though.
Love the 835. We have been looking a while and just picked up an 06 that is nearly identical, same interior theme and everything! Great concise video too!
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow same thoughts here. The 815s seem too small but anything larger requires hitch extensions to tow which we didn’t want. Plus you don’t gain much on the bigger ones without them getting huge.
If you store your camper for any length of time and you live in the Southwest, be sure to put a screen over your heater vent. Wasps like to build their nests in there.
I have the exact same camper I shopped around for quite a while, looking for a hard side one without the aluminum it is great and cold weather and nice and quiet. I looked everywhere for it and finally found one that is in great shape. I have it on my 2500 Silverado fits it perfectly on an 8 foot bed. I would definitely recommend this camper
Nice place. I had a custom built 12 foot camper with a side door that was on the back of my 1977 2 plus 2 Chevy 3/4 ton, 400 4 speed. Large but nice. Yours is the perfect size for your truck. Very nice.
Great video! I am in the process of buying the same year and model camper. I appreciate the ""No Nonsense" approach to the walk-through. Everything I needed to know and nothing I didn't.
Thanks and glad to hear you found it helpful! Was a great camper! Ended up selling it and getting a truck camper from the '60s that we are doing some work to now
NICE CAMPER! In Tennessee, campers are a must…we’ve all got them. Amen…keeping them covered (garage or carport) is a necessity, for long life. Blessings
Yeah that would be cool. Maybe I'll go stop by a camper store sometime and do a couple other video tours. I feel like you have to use the camper at least a few times though to be knowledgeable enough to make a video on it. Otherwise your just pointing at stuff saying hey this looks cool that looks cool. Almost wish I waited longer before I made this video because there are quite a few things that I would have liked to mention that I found out later. I appreciate this suggestion and thanks for checking the video out!
Well done... details are what count... appreciate your video... makes it easy to review any section we want without the interesting but not needed chat.
No hating on short people but finally glad to see somebody reviewing that's not 3 ft tall I'm 6.3 and I need to gauge how much room I would have thank you
This was great to watch! I own a 1991 Six Pac Mini 6.0. Similar in size but the interiorplan is less economical. Yet I love my Six Pac (yessss, i finally have a six pac 🤪). I run it on solarpanel only. Completely of the grid. My pickup is the little Rabbit pick up from the eighties. The set works like a magnet on highway stops and campsites 😂
Lance makes probably the best 8' Camper Going. I have a longer one so I could have actual grey/black tanks. I would go crazy with the placement of the release valves and connectors in the 8'. Something to look out for the "C Channel" escape hatch SUCKS IMHO. If it cracks and breaks it is very difficult finding a correctly sized replacement. Clean it up and clean your AC UNIT and put some kind of UV protectant on them. You should swap out your ordinary vent in the bathroom for one with a fan. It might even be prewired for it.. Lance does a good job of running wires. All in all it's tough to be the design of a lance camper. I think their kitchen layout is way better than the Northen Lites. Plus I do NOT like carpet in a camper it simply makes no sense. I took all the carpet off the step into the bunk and in the cab area too. The 8' is pretty awesome for weekends. I didn't think I would like the extra overhang until I got it and when parked WOW it is so much bigger inside. You do pay a weight penalty though. The newer Lances with the slides are way too heavy for a non-dually. But a 9-10' Lance in an older model is light enough for a 3/4 ton if you beef up the springs or get air bags. I really liked your video. I actually looked for an 8' model but they are super hard to find as there is so much demand. In order for me to tow I need to replace my entire hitch system and its a lot of money to throw at it. Plus the longer ones take up so much room in a parking spot. But it's a small price to pay. So much better than pulling a Trailer for my needs. I resealed the entire roof after I got it "just in case".... and it is long tedious miserable job. If you plan on using it a lot upgrade the onboard inverter and go Lithium.
Dear NNKH guy. 👍👌👏 That's a very well done review (no unnecessary blabbering etc.). The Lanco is definitely a very impressive, well built and well equipped camper. I totally agree, it looks definitely bigger that it is when your inside. Congrats for owning it. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and especially health to both of you.
Thanks Carla! Means a lot coming from your Channel. You guys have some awesome videos on truck campers. I love your intro song as well! Don't ever get rid of that one.
"The awning is mechanical which I love, there's no electrical involved with it", next statement "these are electric Jack's, I would never go back to mechanical ones" LOL
The jacks have a manual override. I suppose most electric awnings probably have the same though so yeah I guess electric is the way to go as long as there is a secondary mechanical means to open and close
I will never understand why someone would take the time to do an review of their RV then never tell us the price of the unit. It's like one of the most important things. Maybe not to you but to us..
Pricing has many different variables and the markets constantly changing. Completed sold items on eBay or a pretty good reference and also what people have things listed for on Marketplace or Craigslist.
No manufacturers recommended pricing at the time of your video would have been nice. I'm very well aware its going to change but what was at the time you showed us is what I'm getting at. Its typical almost no one reveals the price I just think it's silly. Like it taboo a big secret
Couple of tips, always use your water heater on propane only when the AC is running with 30 amps, trust me on that one. Put a pizza stone in the oven and it will bake biscuits etc much better.
I've heard that Lance is very proprietary, I'd like to hear more on that but loved how solid that roof was, I'd never walk on mine, but it's from 1976...
Very nice camper Chris, your videos are awesome and i like that you show a variety of things and you explain them perfectly..great job..and thank you for getting back to me so quickly about my santa fe..

Best overview ever. Most folks ramble on and talk too much.
One might say it was no nonsense.
I agree ☝️

For sure!

I like the fact that you started with the interior instead of the exterior like most people do sense a lot of us are here to see the interior
Best truck bed camper summary/tour video I've seen yet. I'm not in the market for one but now want one more than ever. Great video.
Glad you liked it! Thanks!

Definitely the best truck camper video on RUclips. Very specific and right to the point loved it! Thanks
Thanks Henry I appreciate the feedback. Hoping the video gains some momentum in the future. Guess we'll see
....... yeah.......actually saw panned view of what camper looked like........ so notta fan of detailed tours of drawer contents.......just sayin'.
I'm amazed how well thought-out this camper is!
This would be perfect for full time camping.
Yes!

That is amazing. Full house on back of a truck. Wylith a complete bathroom. I like, I like
Yeah. Nice for trips, but that was one of the main reasons I bought it. You have a second house in case shit hit the fan

Seriously impressed with the sleeping capacity and bathroom on this unit.
2nd gen pickups are so durable... solid front axle, floor shift 4x4, slight factory lift, built proof 360 V8 gasser
Great personality made for a great video. Enjoyed it.
That passage through the front - very nice for a dog (a well-behaved one).
dont apologize for giving quick tour it made it pleasant and yes it is a great camper
For a small camper that has a ton of room. VERY WELL DESIGNED WITH A FUNCTIONAL BATHROOM. You have a sweet camper, LOVE IT. Vinny 🇺🇸
