I am! 😭 While I do like knowing what products you recommend, I would also be interested in knowing products you know of that aren’t as popular or more niche, like the Naturium Bio-Lipid Restoring Body Lotion you mentioned. This could also be a great way to help out some of the lesser known companies that provide great products!
I'm so happy to see this! As I've gotten older my body skin is incredibly dry and I've been worried about showering too often but now I know. One obstacle for me is getting cold too quickly out of the shower and not wanting to moisturize because I'll get colder! I'm going to figure out how to moisturize when I'm still in the shower or maybe someone will invent a lotion heater so we can stay toasty warm;). Thank you for such helpful videos!
There are moisturizers you can use while in the shower before toweling off, Curel Hydratherapy was recommended to me from a dermatologist but there's a few options. I find it much more convenient than after I towel off
Just keep your lotion near (or in a far end of) the shower. It should basically be room temperature. I only half towel off and moisturize while in the shower
I use the hydrating and SA cleanser bars from cerave on my face and they work great. I find the hydrating far more moisturizing than their liquid version. I also like the SA because it has a lower percentage than acne products which dry me out.
The osea anti aging body balm is amazing for dry skin and it smells wonderful! Also the body oil from apoterra is super hydrating and helps with distressing as it has tulsi and adaptogens.
Hi, I would love to know your thoughts on body butters? I have been following your skincare advice and use a dove sensitive soap bar for washing, as well as a non scented simple deodorant. It’s great. I have used cetaphil and cerave body moisturisers in the past and whilst they work great, I can’t help but love the smell and feel of palmers cocoa butter infused lotions since everything else is relatively simple and non scented in my body care routine. Also I’m not sure if it’s just me, but it seems to make my skin tone appear more even and glowy? So it would be good to know your thoughts and if you have any recommendations. Thank you for everything that you do! ❤
@Dr. Please do same kind of video for summer season too.! In summers applying lotion is a task and tacky feeling is bad , but instead when we don’t apply in summer skin also gets dry.! So please dermatologist approved for summer season bathing will be much much appreciated!. Thank you
Great video idea! I’ve been an avid watcher of your videos recently and enjoy knowing information about the body care products and how to use them! Hearing about products in cold climates is very helpful and I think I would also like to hear about what products to use in warmer climates as well. Are there ingredients that favor skin in warmer climates? What products are less necessary and more necessary for people in warm climate areas? I live in Florida and am curious on your thoughts. Thank you again!
Thank you. I’d say for moisturizer I like lotions that are non greasy and lightweight and for face I would water gel/creams. Otherwise cleansing and water temp is much the same
How do you feel about body oil cleansers like Avene xeracalm a.d lipid-replenishing cleansing oil, bioderma atoderm shower oil, kopari hydrating vit c shower oil body wash?
i think there should be a disclaimer when stating that using water alone is enough to cleanse the skin because that definitely applies to those who use very minimal products on their skin like just lotions or nothing at all as you state in this video. me being a black person cannot just use lotion on my skin regardless of how heavy they claim it to be or what ingredients is in it because my skin will soak it in and by the end of the day i will be ashy and itchy. i have taken the same approach to my body as i have to my face. i use multiple products to achieve maximum moisture and because of this i have to not only use body wash but also double cleanse using oil cleansers as well because product build up is oh so real and will not come off with water alone
Most dermatologists will tell you that soap is overused and is really only necessary for our really sweaty parts. Also, I am a Black person with dry skin. I use rich creams on my face and rich lotions on my body with zero issues. You may have an issue that goes beyond basic dry skin. It sounds like you'd benefit from seeing a dermatologist and sharing your concerns with them. Good luck!
@@sdarling6518 it sounds like a damaged skin barrier. Try using gentle soap for sensitive skin and creams with ceramides to repair the damage. If CeraVe fails you, you def should see a dermatologist. Also, another black person
I'm guessing it's becuase the facial skin is more sensitive because it's thinner and also (presumably) not covered with clothes. Hence it's exposed to more pollutants and it's more severely effected by oils and dirt than our body. Similar to how if you're treating body hyperpigmentation you can use exfoliants and retinols on the thicker skin of the body more often than you would the thinner, more easily damaged facial skin barrier.
I'd like to know your opinion on using glyolic acid for asians. Heard that it's a great exfoliate initially but for those who have sensitive skin, it would bring up the dark pigments subsequently.
Hey Dr.Jenny 🤗 when I was on accutane, I was very dry but I liked it, my oily skin wasn't oily anymore. However when I stopped accutane I stated adapalene, and now I get oily super easily, the sebum isn't thick but how do I say it? its very watery meaning that it doesn't stay in the pores and easily comes out to the surface. How do I stop the oiliness?
you really can’t stop because that is a part of your skills function, however, being gentle with your skin using the right moisturizer and sunscreen can help
Could you suggest me a body sunscreen for acne-prone skin? All the ones I've tried break me out: on my hands, arms, legs, neck and chest. The last one I tried was Coppertone Sport (30 spf & 50 spf). Some ohers that have broken me out are the Paulas Choice Body sunscreen, Jack Black body spf & Walgreens brand Hydrating spf.
Can you exfoliate or put retinol on your décolletage? Should this be the same one you put on your face rather than stronger ones for the rest of the body?
In other dermatologist videos on youtube, the doctors say that exfoliation and retinol can be used/done anywhere on the body, including the face. Also, there are retinol body lotions.
Recently found your channel while looking for some skincare pointers and really excited to find a POC dermatologist on RUclips to follow! What are your thoughts on In-Shower Lotions? Are there any benefits to them that standard after the shower lotions don't? Or are they more like conditioners where you can use them in the shower but you'll still need to moisturize afterwards?
Does this include the scalp too? Like how do you moisturise the scalp after shampooing? My scalp is usually really dry despite washing weekly (have very coily, textured hair)
How can i clear my skin of acne? My skin is combo skin more oily at summer and more dry at winter, i didn’t really know what to do for my skin and i am so tiered should i get the cerave acne clanser?
Hello i really love your videos, (i dont know if you deleted my comment or not but i'm rewriting it) when i wash my body in the shower a lot (a lot) of dirt comes out from it i wanted to know i got several questions about shower, what type of bath mits do you recommend me for removing that dirt without damaging my skin? and should we wash our face at the beginning or at the end of the shower? (i have dermatitis seborrheic on my face and my body sweat a lot) what bodywash/bar soap do you recommend that is fungal acne safe? products that you are mentionning (except laroche posay) are very hard to find where i live (i live in france) i'm so sorry of asking a lot of questions like that haha thank you again !!!
What about just applying almond-or coconut oil over the whole body. I like to do that even on my face and hair. Dunno if it´s a good or a bad thing tho haha. I like it simple, not having multiple products
@Dr. Jenny Liu Awe, how sweet of you to respond to my question. Definitely, I will look for that video... Ibeen enjoying everything you had uploaded so far. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. God 🙌 bless you
I've noticed a difference when I use the ordinary's 7% Glycolic Acid on my legs after I get out of the shower. I apply it to damp skin, let it sit a little bit, enough to absorb in and then I top it off with my usual moisturizer. I do this maybe once a week and I have noticed that my skin is more hydrated, smooth and more acne/chickenskin free. Hope that this helps you a bit. I am very white though and I've heard that Glycolic Acid can react differently to darker skin.
It seems like a cleanser and/or lotion specifically designed for KP would be the best route. I used the glycolic toner from The Ordinary on my body at night and then put on lotion like normal. However, I think it'd be easier and cheaper for me to just use one product that moisturizes and exfoliates at the same time. I used Amlatin lotion but it was so itchy that I couldn't stand it. So now I'm going to buy Cerave SA products or Drunk Elephant glycolic lotion.
This would have e been a good video if you had not solely focused on dry skin and eczema. You should have put in your title that this wasn't for those with combination skin or oily skin!
I think using once in a while is fine but regular use can be irritating on the skin especially if you have eczema. Also higher risk of hot tub folliculitis if it’s not sanitized well make sure to rinse off in the shower afterwards and apply moisturizer immediately
Cold and hot showers can be good for your overall health, you should look into that. Feeding the skin (and the whole body) properly will do far more than some external lotion.
Great video, appreciate your efforts. No offense, but how many products one has to use?? This is simply consumerism/capitalism at its peak. cleanser, moisturizer, toner, face wash, serum, exfoliant, etc etc the number and types of products is extremely overwhelming
Dove is very irritating to my skin because it’s not real soap. Soap by nature is the saponification of fat (oil, typically used to be lard or tallow) and lye. This is true soap, not synthetic anything or surfactants. In fact products that contain synthetic surfactants can be considered detergents not true soaps. I would not suggest the cleansers in this video for eczema prone skin types.

I always loved body oils after moisturizing to seal the deal...I'm just not sure if this can work for Keratosis P. Skin like mine
Bioderma Atoderm lotion is AMAZING for dry skin. I use it on my body and horribly dry hands. Helps like no other cream 🙂
We would really appreciate your inputs on the K-Beauty products or brands as they are affordable and available in many countries.
