What a gorgeous aircraft! The Piaggio is such a cool plane. Your flight and radio discipline is great. I appreciated the explanation of the ATC direction vs. departure plate instruction crossing Sunol.
Owen, your concise communications with ATC is very admirable. As I alluded to previously the Piaggio 180 used to fly over my house years ago & I could hear it approaching from miles away. The 180 was maligned due to its very distinctive Wail but I really liked to watch it fly by. There was one occasion when the pilot made a somewhat low(1500 ft) 270 degree turn over my house & I did not have my Canon EOS 50D handy as the sun angle was superb to make the fuselage & spinning props glow; I still can visualize that 180 overhead like it was yesterday; that would have made an epic print that rivaled my Osprey bird with wings outstretched soaring overhead at 75 feet a once in a lifetime capture. The charter company is now flying the Piaggio Evo on routes that are either West or East of my house location in Seminole FL but I can still hear the Evo approaching with its muted Wail. What an awesome mechanical bird she is!!!

Owen, new follower here, really enjoy the content. I’m a retired Navy pilot and respect your professionalism and safety focus. You commented on owners that don’t question your safety decisions, good on them! Years ago there was a spike in Japanese corporate crashes, many of them involving helicopters. Crash analysis revealed a cultural issue; owners/corporate bosses were pressuring pilots to get them to their desired destinations in spite of pilot safety concerns, predominantly bad weather. The pilots were used to being subservient to the boss. To mitigate this, owners/bosses were educated on aviation safety and the fact that the pilots weren’t being disobedient. Subsequently the rate of these type incidents decreased significantly. Fly safe…..
The Piaggio is certainly a unique looking aircraft. Ah flying out of KSJC, done that a few times...way back before Owen was born. Learned how to fly over at KRHV in 1971-72. Gorgeous aircraft. Sorry I wasn’t very clear, my parents are *not* pilots and I do plan on staying corporate
Hi Owen, thanks for sharing. I lived in Scappose and worked there at the airport with Oregon Aero for 18 Years. We had a PC-12 and I have good memories flying in and out of Scappoose. We would also have loved to get the Piaggio. Greetings from Germany, Gerhard
What do you prefer? A CJ2-4 or the p180? Not that I can even afford either one. BTW, I've seen a couple of P180s and their sound is really different to anything out there, probably because of being pushers.
And, dang, that's a beautiful airport!
The CJ’s are great but from a pilots perspective love the P180
Scappoose, oregon - the most random place in the state, right up there with Drain. But the plane is gorgeous.
I got a huge speeding ticket going through Drain more than ten years ago. I think it was $400+. I was driving from Scappoose to Los Angeles. They really “Drained” my wallet.
That's a cool plane. I love watching these videos as they're instructional but man, I have a fear of heights and flying. If we can land rockets now, why can we get a parachute on airplanes? haha (something to guarantee a landing)
Thanks for watching! Some new planes do have parachutes
I just tuned in to your podcast ,I've admired the Piaggio plane for a long time .I used to catch some flights in some Cessna light aircraft years ago .The first time that i flew i was a little nervous, then after i flew more i became more enthusiastic and loved aviation every since, anyway this is why i subscribed to your podcast.
Thank you for watching!
Awesome video. How do you stay current in so many aircraft?
Flying regularly and reviewing systems and limitations, thanks!
Once in a awhile I see these type of designed planes fly over pretty awesome
What is your favorite aspect of flying the Piaggio?
The speed!
That was awesome to watch. I did my Solo long Cross-Country a couple months ago and landed at Scappoose as one of the legs. Super beautiful area! Definitely an area I'll take passengers to later on.
I-JUST-WATCHED first two Piaggio videos, few hours ago, just for Friday evening fun, and now THIS?? TGIF, Owen!
Thanks for watching!
Yes, you were saying scappoose correctly. Used to live about 1/4 mile from the airport. Now i live in Northern California. What a difference in the scenery.
Thank you for sharing a great flight. And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.😊😊
That aircraft looks so comfy. Amazing.
Great flight. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
