    I'm 30 and I just bought a 2015 Murano haha.. Maybe its out of my age group.. but I love it! I wasn't a huge fan of it at first... but after plenty of research and a test drive.. I dove in a bought one. And I must say, I'm glad I did. I took it on a road trip from LA to Sequoia National Park and it was just amazingly comfortable. Its by no means a fast vehicle, but its quick. Everyone will have a different experience with this vehicle as it is with all cars.. I for one love it. Plus, its a very unique looking car and since February 11th when I got it.. I've only seen 1 other 2015 Murano. :)

    Just bought a 2015 Murano and I love it. I'm a 62 yr. old working grandmother. Love the comfy interior and the sporty look. This is my 3rd Nissan with no problems, plus I live in Mississippi and that is where it is made, yeah Mississippi.

    I took my 2014 Rogue in for a tire rotation and to kill some time drove the 2015 Murano. I'm a 68 yo retiree and I loved the thing, it will be my next vehicle in a year or two. Maybe for my 70'th birthday.

    We have a 2007 Murano, will be trading up in the next year, we are 50 year old DINC's who like outdoor sports, and AWD.
    The 2015 Murano is on our list of course, we usually like lighter interiors, tan is fine, or like in my SAAB a mix of light and dark in strategic areas...I am worried the light color shown is too light everywhere, should have some darker tones thrown about on different kick panels, doors, etc. A few bike, camping trips would trash that pearly white interior!

  • @KhrissyDaDon

    I like your reviews, you just earned yourself a subscriber. And I feel that the Murano should compete with the Ford Edge, Toyota Venza, Subaru Outback, Hyundai Sante Fe. Because the Murano can be had with cloth seating and so can the other models I listed... while the Rx comes with leather (although sometimes not real) seating in a base model. So it can be crossed shopped but don't run home comparing the two.

    My wife calls my '09 Murano "The Manny-Man" although we don't have any kids yet. I'll be looking to upgrade in the near future and I searched just about every car manufacturer. I found nothing I liked, within and outside of my price range, except this new 2015 Murano. It just looks sexy as hell to me and has all the features I want in a modern vehicle.

    I just got the Brilliant Silver one, SL AWD techpack. For people who is having second thoughts on it. Go see it in person! you'll want one :), I think its a great deal for the features and quality the car have, compare to other vehicles.
    But my personal thought, cars that this car competes with:
    BMW X3
    Lexus RX350
    Mercedes GLK
    Mazda CX5
    Audi Q5
    Jeep Cherokee
    Lincolin MKX
    and... a few others...

    I own a 2014 pathfinder. Yes the cvt makes the ride boring because it is very smooth. Coming from a 1989 manual tranny mitsubishi lancer, yes i miss that shifting behavior. However, it is very quiet and fuel economy is great. I wish i waited for this new murano. I like the design coz i think it is different. Interior is attractive and looks luxurious enough for the price point. Hats off to nissan for taking the risk re: design concept. But at the end of the day, we buyers have our own set of criteria in buying cars.

    Moto Man my lease is almost up. As far as the Murano is concerned Buy, Lease or Wait until the Max debuts in January?

  • @Shervinbaby
    @Shervinbaby 9 лет назад

    I really like the look of the Murano. I often think about the unique looking cars of the 1950's. From a mile away you could see the difference between a Cadillac Eldorado (1954) VS Alfa Romeo 1900 SS Cabriolet. A Ford T-bird (1955) could make you feel totally different VS Cadillac Convertible 1959 with Tailfins... they each looked SOOO different, but that's what made them amazing. Sure, some looked cooler than others, but it was the variety that was so beautiful.
    Ultimately, cars have become tremendously boring. It's refreshing to see something with personality. I'm in the market and this is one of my top choices. I've test driven both the 2015 Murano and the new Lexus NX F-Sport and frankly I like them both about the same. The Lexus is slightly sportier suspension, but the Murano has a superior interior & dash.

  • @georgebyrne1
    @georgebyrne1 9 лет назад +1

    I don't quite understand all the concern about CVT transmission, and the importance given to this by auto reviewers. I have a new Murano 2015 and drives totally fine. The vehicle takes off quickly when the light turns green and accelerates nicely when uphill and when passing a slower driver. I think reviewers in general are disconnected from the crossover buying public in this regard.

  • @crazyone1067
    @crazyone1067 9 лет назад +1

    Sad to see quality issues in this video... the right rear passenger door window seal and the cover under the steering wheel at the right knee area. You would constitute this vehicle of excellent quality at this price point. If certain things like this are being overlooked, what else could be going on below the surface of the vehicle?

  • @IceDree
    @IceDree 9 лет назад

    Somehow i knew the XTronic will be a CVT ... they are sooo predictable.
    The Ford Edge & the Jeep Cherokee are the only 2 i can think of as a competitor to Murano.
    I'm happy Nissan finally started to come up with their own interiors instead of using Infiniti as an "inspiration" ... i just wish they stop using that shade of Beige ... errr Cashmere. Every single Sunny/Tida/Sentra/Altima/Patrol/EX37 i see ... have that exact shade of Beige.
    Are those Wild Cows? Or free range ones?
    As always, Excellent video M.

    I think now the Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and Kia Sorento is more it's direct competitor rather than the RX. They cut back on some features like Lane Departure Warning and rain-sensing wipers and quite honestly, I don't know any luxury car customer that would even consider eyeing a car with a CVT under it's hood. Also, the buying experience of the Nissan doesn't even come close to that of a Lexus.

  • @alvinmwangi

    that murano interior looks good though

  • @fcg243
    @fcg243 9 лет назад

    I test drove the Murano and liked it. However, interior space was not much different than the 2013 Rav4 I owned and the platinum was priced at a luxury car price point of almost 50k out the door. I traded my Rav4 for a Pathfinder Platinum for under 40K with more equipment (DVD entertainment package, tow hitch etc...), 3rd row seats plus a more comfortable ride even with the 20" wheels. But overall, the Murano has a more luxurious interior and sportier ride, but is not more comfortable than the PF.

    0:38 all that demographic stuff is funny. It's not always families with SUV's. A lot of people just like the look, like riding high up, and size of them and they have no kids. That's one reason they are on par with 4 door sedans in sales. Plenty of guys think they are good a good compromise between a pickup and a car.

    I agree about never leasing unless there is a true promotion discount deal from the maker, which usually does not happen. In general you kind of simply lose the cash put up at signing. Do the calculations: Get an amortization calculator in the internet, set-up a realistic (based on previous years) selling price at x number of months, and compare the numbers !

    • @MotoManTV
      @MotoManTV  9 лет назад

      That is a question of what is the job. Both are excellent tools but very different functions. Here's how I would break it down: If you are looking for more serious inclement weather traction or off roading - no doubt, the Jeep. If you are looking for a D segment family hauler with more style and better fuel economy, the Nissan. In short: the Murano is a CROSS OVER and the Jeep is an SUV.

    MotoManTV
    Could this be the one we (empty nesters 45+) have been looking for?
    Are the seats comfortable? Zero G technology makes it sounds as if they are..
    Is is quiet and does it dampen the road noise?
    Cross shopped:
    1. Infiniti Q 70 and Q70- both are gorgeous and I really wanted to love them but they have a harsh ride and too much road noise.
    2. Porsche Macan- rare.. Dealer never has any to test drive plus concerned about high cost of ownership, insurance, maint etc.
    #3. Hyundai Genesis- Always been intrigued by the car. Drove the 2015 and it's super comfortable and the engine is a real rocket. Suspension tuned by Lotus. Very nice ride to be sure. Down side is gas mileage.
    #4. BMW i435 Gran Coupe- too hard to get in and out of, especially the rear pax, superb car though! Every other BMW I like is too expensive to justify.
    Still going to look at the Toyota Avalon, Acura TLX and maybe a Buick.
    Local dealers should be receiving their new 2015 Murano's in the next few weeks we hope.
    What do we drive now? A loaded 2012 Hemi Charger R/T with the Super Track Pack and a 2012 Hemi Ram Express regular cab. Both with 30 k miles. Both are very comfortable and very quiet at cruise speed. The Charger recently averaged 36 mpg on a 1500 mile trip albeit she was following a uhaul at 55 to 60 mph but 36 mpg is still 36 mpg.
    Both are very strong performers when the need for speed hits.
    In fact I have yet to find any car that can match the R/T option for option even for twice the price!
    Why do we we want to trade? Both of our vehicles are at the top of their first trade cycle value wise.
    If things are this tough to find a suitable replacement for these this says a lot for what we have now.
    Go Dodge!
    Maybe we should just wait for the Charger Hellcat.. ; )

      @MotoManTV  10 лет назад +1

      Regarding the seats, I did have extensive time in the Altima that has the same seat construction and have to say - VERY impressed. They are like the old skool Mercedes seats from the 70s - you don't notice truly how supportive they are until you 5 hours in.
      As for your shopping list . . . tough call . . You know me, I would go for the Porsche Macan or just sell the family and get a Lotus:)

      Look at Volvo too. They have immensely comfortable seats and are comfortable cars in general. The new ones got more powerful engines too. Also, the Buick Regal GS might be a good compromise between a quiet, comfortable, fast ride that's at the same time affordable.

      Fevian Cortes The Murano's level of fit and finish has not been seen in non luxury cars a few years back. But now, we see this on most recent offerings, specially from Kia and Hyundai. Still, Lexus and Infinity brands carry a 10k or more premium.

      Leasing is great. You need to understand the advantages and disadvantages of leasing. Some people simply want a new design. New car always under warranty, and do not mind having a car payment because they want the newest tech/performance/comfort etc. I never put money down on a lease and I do very well negotiating invoice or below on every mercedes, Infiniti, ford, Nissan I've had. To pay msrp (the fake price) is unacceptable. There are very few cars that are not negotiable. Example would be a new AMG, Shelby, ford Gt etc. So, bottom line is, leasing or purchasing can be positive and negative. It's all about the goal of the consumer.

    They should have this with an Infiniti badge - get ride of the base verison - start at 35k and price upto 45 - 50k, get rid of CVT and put in the 7 speed auto. The pricing and positioning problem would be solved?

      Would be a tough sell on the Infiniti side . . . they already have a RWD 2 row and a FWD/CVT Three Row CUV . . . Plus, I feel the design DNA of this car is better suited to Nissan - especially when you see the new Maxima . . .

    Also - I test drove one... the salesgirl... (and I do mean girl.... just out of college with a degree in journalism and knew absolutely nothing about the product she was selling) let me drive it about 3 blocks and back. Wouldn't allow me to take it onto a nearby highway. That said... it was neat. But I did find the following problems: Teeny Tiny poorly contrasting idenfication words on the steering wheel controls - which were even more illegible when backlit. Reminded me of my 2013 Chevy Equinox center stack and it's illegible control identification..... the steering wheel visible shook at idle... and the power was lethargic.... not sure how you could review this as 'punchy.' How does the cargo room in back compare to the new Highlander? Also, the shiny black console enclosure gives the vehicle a cheap appearance, and looks like it would scratch easily. Looks like something you'd see on a $50 portable boom box stereo.

    It looks like a Pokemon in my opinion, but I like it. Better than Toyota's vacuum cleaner design theme. If the Asian guy was the car designer, well I like him too for his enthusiasm, which made me like the car more than I did before watching the video. He didn't have much of an accent. Is he American or what?

      tgilldesign may I ask what you don't like about the 14' Highlander? I was going to buy one but for a better price and more standard equipment, I chose the Pathfinder Platinum. I was a bit put off with the styling of the HL since it looks a bit like a minivan but the interior is very nice.

      The highlander 2014-2015 looks ugly way to much for it v6 engine and is not really a head turner like rav4 and rouge.

    The introduction of the 'new' car-based Pathfinder brought a horrible Xtronic CVT setup which resulted in massive complaints from owners regarding 'shuddering' upon acceleration, loss of power, and all sorts of clunking noises. Nissan even made the national news with it's CVT problems. The Murano always had an excellent reliability rep with Consumer Reports - however, they give the new Pathfinder a 'black eye' and rate them as horribly unreliable. Supposedly, Nissan has 'fixed' the issue.... but negative ownership comments abound. My question to you is: How can a person be confident the new Murano and it's CVT which has the same Xtronic name as the Pathfinder be trusted? And has there been any pre-production testing to make sure it doesn't suffer the same fate as the Pathfinder.... which has plummeted sales due to it's bad reputation??? Can this CVT drivetrain be trusted??

    The only reason I am looking at this car is because it is made in USA - I don't want my next car - FORD ahhh - to be made outside of US. This car is a bigger then what I need :(. Is there a 90% USA made car that is a SUV that is smaller than this Nissan car?

    Nice looking vehicle but I will never own another CVT. My 2005 Murano was awful! So slow and extremely expensive to maintain. Gave it to my teen daughter then got rid of it for a Kia Soul that did not need premium fuel to go slow.
