I bet he picked the Edge just so he could say "it Edges out the Murano".
On the flip side, he could have said "Only a Morono would pick the Edge".

You say Nissan toned down the Murano? That's literally the most radical design they have other than the Maxima. You said you liked the interior of the Murano better, it gets better gas mileage, and it has more rear leg room, but yet you choose the ford? Hmm.

Have u been in these 2 vehicles b4, I dare U drive the Edge and Murano back to back and say which is better, see the Murano has a CVT, however good it may get its not as good as a regular 6 speed AT, the ford gives 1 way better control and refined driving experience with its 6 speed
Then comes the rear seats, its not outright better in Murano, its just probably 1-1.5 inch larger in legroom and head room that its
Murano get 0.75 mpg better, I will always give that for that awesome low end torque of Edge,
murano cant even touch Ford when it comes to suspension tuning, the Edge has an integral rear link suspension at the back as supposed to multi links of Murano which just keeps off the Edge from bouncing at 90+ mph speeds, also it feels firmer damped while Murano feels like a boat at hi speeds
interior fit finish refinement etc of Ford is on par with Murano, its just that Murano has a Japanese flare and style to it, Forda little bit mundane like in a VW
And get the Ford EDGE Sport and U wont see a Murano even in rear view mirror, its holly crap fast, I mean EDge TT v6 is 4450 pounds, but I did 0-60 in 5.4s, hell no Murano is that fast and yet while cruising at 50 mpg was showing 28 mpg, the 2.0 turbo Edge is around 220 pounds heavier than Murano as well, its a rock solid vehicle

+Ponygt 662 ah, we have a ford fanboy here. I don't have to drive them back to back. I choose the Murano. Like I said, it's styled better, has a more premium interior, is more comfortable, and as for the 6 speed auto, it's outdated. Automakers are using 8 speeds or CVT's now. I could sit here and argue with you, but you're clearly stuck on Ford. Enjoy them. What does Ford stand for again? Ah. Found On Road Dead. I've had fords. I can tell you that's a very true statement.

For each his own, I was not a Ford guy until I owned one, I used ro drive Hondas, and they are shits compared to Fords when it comes to power, handling, grip, fun to drive nature, etc etc...
I drive a Fiesta ST now, but One f ma friend at Iowa was stuckn with this same confusion Murano vs Edge, and since I am a car enthusiast he invited me for a test drive, wr took 4 days to decide, becaue looks wise interior and e. Atterior its plane personal preferance, if U like Murano I agree, I for one am a fan of sportier designs so not a huge fan of how both look, specially Murano which I feel is over designed.
Regarding interior I still say the Ford has a super hi quality interior, its built tuff too,but again its personal preferance, I liked Edges interior better as well because I felt it to b more neat and better ergonomic to my habits of AC positions, volume positions etc...and quality wise again Ford is just probably a smidge less inspiring but never like a day nd night difference.
And I say again Edge is more comfy nside, that is where I can make a firm statement,at lower speeds Edge feels a tad more stiffer than Murano, but post 30-40 mph therr is no comparison Edge has less tire, wind, road, engine noise, and the damping is excellent, Murano is good but Edge definitelt is better, surface changes, expansion joints nothing jolts the Edge while Murano can get unsettled at speeds excess of 60 itself, and above 90 mph there s no comparison Edge is way way better than Murano.
Again sure 6 speed is old but it gives better drive control,I know the downshift and up shift points, its easier to predict and overtake, while the CVT we drove at times raised rpm but the car didnt feel like its moving with the speed it shud as opposed to noise it made,
Also hi speed overtakes is big NO No in Murano, the engine needs to spin way avove 4500 rpm to make some meaningful power, Edge felt like a Diesel, any speed any rpm, smash thottle there is Power, just like my old Civic,
And the Found on road dead is an age old pre 2008 Ford nik name, Ford has grown way above it now, its easily more reliable than even Hyundais mechanically, only issues affecting Fords are MyFord touch thats it,rest all sre too insignificant compared to how much they sell
Again just check Murano vs Edge sales ,U ll find that Murano is way poor and there s a reason for it, not everybody in USA,Canada r fools, they kno wat they r buyimg, if a car aint teust worthy and bad it wont sell,
      And why I like Ford
Because they ve performance cars from fwd, rwd, awd, super car, super truck,...
Chek any stream they have it, Nissan lives or dies on that GTR thats it,
I was a Honda guy since 2012, and although people say Honda is great, I hated it for its boring styling, boring drive, boring boring boring everything, drove a Focus ST in 2012 and it opened my eyes, I was shocked that a fwd car cud b this good, then waited 1 year for ,reliability and it was uber strong, no major issues at all, bought Fiesta ST by 2013,done 25k kms with it so far,not even a single nut has given me trouble in the ST and no Nissan or Honda shit drives like ma ST does, from 2012 on only I became a Ford guy, so ur shitty point is age old crap,
Welcome to 21st century Japanese fanboy

I leased the a '15 Murano Platinum a few months back. At the time I was deciding between the Ford Edge and the Murano. Now I feel it was one of the best decisions I ever made. It seems the "Auto Guide" narrator forgot to mention the NASA inspired zero gravity seats that are included with the Murano. By far this has been the most comfortable vehicle that I have EVER drove PERIOD! The Murano is often ridiculed because of the over-styled exterior. Personally I don't think it's over-styled...I think it's done just right. The New Murano is a very beautiful and classy vehicle. As far as the design of the Ford Edge, it has basically looked the same since in was introduced back in 06-'07. Also, the Edge is assembled in Canada while the Murano is assembled in Canton Mississippi, U.S.A. I might actually keep this thing at lease end- either that or lease a new Murano when the time comes. We'll see.

  • @maryeckert9936

From my experience, the Nissan Murano is not built for short people. I stand at 5' tall. Because of the pitch of the seat, it felt like it was cutting off the circulation to my lower legs, and I felt like I was looking through the steering wheel instead of over it. I know I could have raised the seat to accommodate a better view of the road, but then I had to tip tow the gas and brake peddles. My husband is 6'4" and loved the vehicle. I have not driven a Ford Edge, so I don't know if it is any better. Currently I drive a Nissan Armada. The plus on that vehicle is the adjustable peddles making it so that I don't have to sit too close to the steering wheel.

Saying the Edge does better in gas mileage with the turbo with premium gasoline should then be regulated with the significant price difference, which then totally negates the mileage advantage... Chasing between these two would be hard. I don't like CVTs but in the Maxima (similar drivetrain) you don't notice the CVT much because of all that torque. Consumer Reports gushed on and on about the magic ride and handling balance of the Edge and other reviews haven't been as enthusiastic about the Murano handling but a lot can depend on trim and tire package differences. Two nice vehicles.

I just turned 18 last month, 2 years ago I bough my first car, a 2009 Nissan Murano. I feel in love with it and I promised myself that one day I would buy a new Nissan Murano but one day me and my family traveled to Mexico and in our way back we flied to San Diego (we live in the north of CA) so we rented a car to drive home (like 9 hours) the car rental company could not find a car with enough space to fit all our baggage (4 big and 4 small) until they found a Ford edge, it incredibly fit perfect. In that moment, I fell in love with it, me and my sister helped my dad to drive and it was amazing, powerful, comfortable and just great in general. Since that I now have a debate about buying a Nissan Murano or a Ford Edge.

+Ponygt 662 Really???? Go drive a Ford edge before thinking anything Japanese is good???? That's some deep seeded hate right there. While I am the first to admit that I am a Nissan fan, I do respect and appreciate other brands. If that's what Steven James DeBlasi likes then that should be his choice. I've owned two Fords, and although I know that they have improved and now make really great cars I will never buy another Ford. Oh and guess what, I drive a 2011 Nissan Altima with the 2.5 liter four cylinder and it's Japanese, and it's good!

Puff the Magic Dragon Well, my 2010 Nissan Murano is still driving great and I've had zero major repairs done to it. Only things I've done to it is oil change and just got new tires. My 2004 Nissan Frontier is also still driving great and also has had zero major repairs done to it. The most expensive repair I've had done was a leaky head gasket and just had to replace the hoses 2 years ago. I think the head gasket was $250 - $300 while all the hoses was $300. So roughly $600 other than regular oil changes and tires. Oh, my 2004 Frontier just hit 300K while my Murano 52K.

From a mechanics point of view, I would say that Nissans CVT transmission is the bane of their existence. But if you mean that mechanics love it because they get to make all kinds of money constantly replacing the units, then I suppose you’re right.

@@rogerweller1266 i went through dozen of nissan vehicles for personal use. I dont keep cars more than 3 years tho (not lease) and not one broke breaching 70-100k miles. I guess im lucky or just take care of them cause of my own bodyshop 🤷🏼‍♂️ but i meant it as all inclusive sentence. Nissans way easier to work on, they offer way more for the price than any other none luxury brand, parts are easy to come across and just overall good cars. But yea cvt would be its only weak point based on everyone complains

My take away is the Nissan has better interior styling and the drivetrain/engine works better together than the Ford (surprising as its a CTV). On the other hand, the Ford's interior is OK but un-inspiring and its exterior design is more refined. While a good review, I'd be inclined (if I was shopping this segment) to look at Acura, Toyota or GM.

Tbh my family owns both an Edge Limited (2014) and a Nissan Murano Cross (2011) . With that being said each of these new models are basically mechanically the same thing., ( minus minor upgrades I.e. The updated CVT.. ) with ride quality the edge overall is a MUCH more compliant ride., with the Murano the suspension is much more "jumpy" to say the least on turns if you hit a bump you with feel it throughout the whole body. Performance wise the Muranos CVT offers almost immediate power when passing the 6-speed in the edge takes a few moments to pick the right gear to get you going., which can be annoying at times I might add. With build quality both are nicely put together . But I would have to give he Murano the win with that because the materials are JUST the much better .. Overall I am happy with both our purchases our edge still gets stares it's a limited with the chrome wheels etc. and with the top down the Murano drops jaws all the time lol. But this is my personal opinion .,

actually the 2016 edge is a completely new design compared to the 2014. Its not just a cosmetic update. It rides on an entirely different chassis and platform.

Murano has more hp in the V6 vs the edge's2. 0turbo. Style is subjective but murano is much more striking andnappealing imo. Murano is more powerful and gets better mpg in AWD. Somurano wins the somparison. Refinement? Murwno has thenmorenpremium interior and unbeatable smoothness whilencruising. Again taking thenwin is the Murano--the safer, more fuel efficient, dnd more engaging driving experience. Nothing the edge has can match the tech and conveince os nissan's surround view cam

Is it possible to make these videos without saying redundant things like "these are still just crossovers"? No one is comparing a crossover to a car! These are two totally different markets. If some idiot buys an SUV and gets disappointed by the not so sharp handling of a sedan, he will be an exception and well deserving of that disappointment. So please, don't waste our time in every video saying that these are crossovers after all.

If the people at Nissan had any sense, they should be hella' concerned that a Ford is even in the same quality ballpark as a Nissan. It's a sign of just how far Nissan's quality has fallen.
I have 155,000 (trouble-free) miles and counting on a Nissan CVT transmission however, I don't know that I'd risk another one.
Conversely, I think Ford uses some of the worst paint and/or paint processes in the auto industry. I see way too many late-model Fords that have rust on them.
Toyota (Lexus) & Honda (Acura) are where it's at.

thehegt Tr Ford has much better reliability than Honda and Nissan boyo. Used to work at a Nissan dealership, everyone was coming in with issues. Work at a ford dealer now, we sell more, but less people have issues, avoid the DC auto in the Fiesta and focus and some early gen ebs and you'll be fine.

Gave Ford a try for first time. Right out of warranty. Driver door ajar sign came on. Battery died at 38 months, which I can let go. Than the body throttle issue, where the car would just stop abruptly when you hit accelerator and now my rear view camera is upside down. I really really love my Ford Edge and would like to get another one but I do not think a car should be having so many problems when its been so far only 46 months and only 38,000 miles. Now I know sometimes you get lucky with cars and someone with the same model might have 0 problems even after 100,000 miles. Thinking about going back to Honda or a Nissan again, especially Murano.
