How about comparing capabilities next time too? The lifted hatchback Murano can tow 1,500lbs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee can tow 6,200 with the V6. That can make a difference.
I would have chosen the Edge as the number one over the Murano. It looks better, it has more options available (sure, that would bring it over the 45k limit, but it's still brand new) and it doesn't have a crappy CVT.
I totally agree with you, cvt transmission are awful and very expensive to repair. This comparison has made me choose the 2015-2018 Ford Edge as my next vehicle. purchase.
That Murano looks so damn sexy! I test drove it twice and fell in love. I was going to buy one but said fuck it, why not sell my 370z and pick up a used GTR instead? haha I would happily drive the Murano any day of the week though, very pretty!
I’ve driven every single one of these as 2018 & 2019 models, the Murano is by far the most gorgeous, it rides beautifully, the CVT works very well with the V6, plus the interior is stunning, I think the Kia Sorento is a close second for me. But if I was in the market for an SUV I’d take the Santa Fe 2.0T, I just really like it, plus the turbo 4 is plenty powerful.
If the Lexus RX is out of your price range, a Platinum Murano is one of the best crossovers on the road. It may have a better interior than the Lexus as well. Bold outside, plush inside.
Nissan Murano is great value..its very luxurios interior and very comfortable ride as well..the sexy and unique exterior style..one more thing the zero gravity seats with premium leather is very comfortable and stress free ride quality..murano is number one..👍👍👍
Owned a Hyundai Santa Fe for about 9 yrs now. Initially was impressed and a good value. But would never own again. After first year trim started falling apart, engine issues like valve cover leakage 3 times and more. This is with proper scheduled maintenance too.
Would be a different story if it has the Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, Dodge Durango and Toyota Highlander. Personally, I'll take the Sorento at 1, CX-9 at 2 and Edge at 3.
I've driven all these cars for work and I have no idea where the hell these guys get there info from. How the Cherokee is number 5 is beyond me. Not comfortable? what? it has A/C seats for the summer and heated seats and steering wheel for the winter, its comfortable as hell.Plus U-Connect blows every other infotainment system away. The Sorento is "all over the place" on the road??? I think that had more to do with them being horrible drivers than it does with the cars suspension because that's another car that drives great that they claim is "uncomfortable". And lastly they make the Murano sound like gods gift to the SUV market when they forget to mention the CVT drone, gawdy fake wood trim, and the frustrating to use AC/ Radio controls.
I like you have rented every oone of these while traveling for work. The jeep is by far the most comfortable and sturdy of the group and the only one I would consider buying. I am not sure how they come up with these results.
I agree about the CVT, but our Sorento was very squirrelly handling especially the back half of the car. I never trusted it in a curve. Full disclosure I'm a Toyota guy. Don't know why the Highlander is absent unless it was just too pricey.
Murano is definitely the best it's so crazy because my mom owns both a 2014 edge limited and a 2011 Nissan Murano Cross Cab ! And I have to say this is dead on !! Love the CVT in the cross cab and the Edges V6 has a great growl coming off the line and always has power even loaded . Can't go wrong with either . I'm trying to persuade my mom to upgrade to the 2015 edge Sport !! That would be great ! A Ford Fusion Coupe would be awesome if Ford offered it with awd or at least Fwd as I'm in PA .. I want to upgrade my '08 accord coupe .. I got the 4cyl and want some more power and love ford fusions styling
I realize you are a t.v. station more than a YT channel.... But why are there always a small amount of views? Sure, this segment won't apply to the Car enthusiast. But this vehicle class applies to the majority of people. I would go with the Ford myself. Thanks for the upload.
I would swap the #3 and #5 places there. I am not accustomed to driving luxury vehicles so driving my WK2 is very nice and has been unstoppable, fast, handles well and can tow my boat in the mountains. It would be bad for those last 3 to try the towing.
The Ford got the best fuel economy of this test, but was the only one not equipped with AWD. This gave it an advantage the others didn't have, so it was a distant second, and really should have been closer to 3rd place.
These others must ride like limo's if the jeep has the most "truck like" ride. They aren't even on a truck frame anymore and ride way better than the old ones. My 12' has been been fantastic. All SUV's will totally morph into jacked up wagons within a few years.
The G/C is a traditional body-on-frame true SUV not a crossover. So while the prices and some specifications overlap, it doesn't belong here. It should be compared with the Toyota 4Runner.
That belongs in the full size 7 or 8 passenger crossover class. (Which I hope they do a comparison test of those soon) The Venza that was here the last time they did this comparison was disconnected last year
Does anyone know if the Jeep is superior in bad/harsh weather conditions? Seems like Jeep should get more credit for being a better bad weather vehicle.
Of course it is, they skirted that subject. Part of the problem is the crappy tires that come with the vehicles. As I write this the best tire for most SUV's is the Michelin Defender LXT. It is by far the best tire with the Firestone Destination LE2 being a very good second choice. This is the opinion of thousands of people. I personally own both these tires. They wear well. I drive them hard often. I have had the Goodyear tires that are offered for SUV's and I believe Goodyear doesn't care about this segment of tire sales. They have sat on their name and have stuck with sports tires and off road tires. Apparently not much R&D for the SUV market.
IMO, the Ford Edge should have came in first place because it's better than its competitors. Nissan Murano got a sucky CVT which is a crutch and a horrible infotainment system.
Kevron Harris guess what the crappy cvt is cheaper, more reliable and quicker. It also wastes less gas. My father use to own a Ford Edge sel. At the end of the lease, the transmission would lock.
GC should be compared with Explorer, Land Rover and possibly the 4R (last body on frame in this segment). This should've had the regular cherokee and also, the GC is an unibody not body-on-frame. You guys really dont seem to know your vehicles.
..use the up arrow for the word point, LOL. It makes you look trendy, lazy and idiotic. The Ford does drive well. It looks good too. Just too underpowered for my needs.
Steven Bryant U always have the choice with Ford, the 2.7 TT V6 is fastest cross over of its kind, and there is the 3.5 V6 as well, so not a valid excuse
Toyota is selling a ton of them. Sales are up big now, but it is too hardcore to run with these softies. It's more hard-edge than the Grand Cherokee. More tank than lounge.
My 2011 Jeep GC will be solid long after the Toyota 4Runner has become an annoying rattle and squeak box. Body on frame is only useful with pickup trucks.
I noticed the girls were talking mostly. I am a man. I want a man's vehicle. If I wanted luxury and lollipop looks I would buy a Lexus or a Caddy. What can these vehicles do when the going gets tough... call a man or AAA?!
How about comparing capabilities next time too? The lifted hatchback Murano can tow 1,500lbs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee can tow 6,200 with the V6. That can make a difference.
People who bought the Nissan are cursing Motorweek after all the CVT failures, LOL.
Should of tested the AWD V6 Ford Edge
Since you now take crash test results into consideration, why not go two steps further and include reliability and resale value to the equation?
Oh I love the Nissan Murano...it is just welcoming the future! Awsome!!
I would have chosen the Edge as the number one over the Murano. It looks better, it has more options available (sure, that would bring it over the 45k limit, but it's still brand new) and it doesn't have a crappy CVT.
FWD.
Enjoy your subpar minivan.
@@ekscalybur they come awd soooooooo... yeah. Plus the Edge Sport with 315hp and awd.
I want to buy a ford edge, what kind of car do you think it is?
I totally agree with you, cvt transmission are awful and very expensive to repair. This comparison has made me choose the 2015-2018 Ford Edge as my next vehicle. purchase.
I strongly agree on the top 5. Murano is the best among the pack.
Except the murano is tiny inside.
Ford Edge for the win
That Murano looks so damn sexy! I test drove it twice and fell in love. I was going to buy one but said fuck it, why not sell my 370z and pick up a used GTR instead? haha I would happily drive the Murano any day of the week though, very pretty!
Audiwan Kenobi actually drove one yesterday buddy and my 370z is for sale, check my videos if you don't believe me:)
Audiwan Kenobi it's ok, you don't know me so you have no reason to. Take care.
Audiwan Kenobi Great, go ahead boss. Could care less.
Why don’t you just get a Honda Accord?
I’ve driven every single one of these as 2018 & 2019 models, the Murano is by far the most gorgeous, it rides beautifully, the CVT works very well with the V6, plus the interior is stunning, I think the Kia Sorento is a close second for me.

That Murano is absolutely amazing. It's definitely the bang for your buck car. The seats are extremely comfortable!
Nissan get rid of that damn CVT
And all other car makers.
Good video, but I'll stick to my Mitsubishi Outlander. It's more affordable, gets better gas mileage and can seat 7 in pinch.
Nissan Murano is smaller than a Honda CRV but has a V6 and luxury appointments. Should have ran that against an acura rdx.
Nissan Murano is great value..its very luxurios interior and very comfortable ride as well..the sexy and unique exterior style..one more thing the zero gravity seats with premium leather is very comfortable and stress free ride quality..murano is number one..👍👍👍
Funny. caranddriver.com has the Grand Cherokee at #1 and the Murano at #5.
Owned a Hyundai Santa Fe for about 9 yrs now. Initially was impressed and a good value. But would never own again. After first year trim started falling apart, engine issues like valve cover leakage 3 times and more. This is with proper scheduled maintenance too.
They dont have long term reliability for sure
I would choose the Murano because it has a V6, Sorento and Santa Fe in that order and, they're easier to get in my country
I would rather pay shipping on a used Jeep GC, it is built that much better!
Would be a different story if it has the Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, Dodge Durango and Toyota Highlander. Personally, I'll take the Sorento at 1, CX-9 at 2 and Edge at 3.

The murano is awesome!
Todd Gipson
Zoom Zoom.
Ivan Vojt
I doubt that. Top Gear was around the same time and is more of an influence compared to this.
It's a coin flip between the Edge and Murano. You can't go wrong with either. They're also the best selling.
i’m surprised there wasn’t a nicer specced sorento, there’s still another trim level and more powerful engine available.
I want to buy a ford edge, what kind of car do you think it is?
6 minutes on a comparison? theres so much info thats missed out, why dont u guys push a lil more say at lest 5 min on each
The Nissan Murano being "stylish" here shows how subjective styling can be. It is in my opinion one of the ugliest cars out there.
Heres my personel list #Jeep Grand Cherokee #2 Ford Escape #3 Hyundai Santa Fe #4 Nissan Murano #5 Kia Sorento
I would swap the #3 and #5 places there. I am not accustomed to driving luxury vehicles so driving my WK2 is very nice and has been unstoppable, fast, handles well and can tow my boat in the mountains. It would be bad for those last 3 to try the towing.
I don't imagine that any Murano owner will ever look back and think...wow what style!
I take the grand Cherokee cuz its offroad capable and it looks good and it has a soul
The murano is awesome!
My wife now drives a used 2011 Ford Edge. It is uncanny how it drives and feels so similar to her old 2002 Grand Cherokee RWD.
don't do Jeep like that, that Jeep Grand Cherokee never belonged in that segment the Jeep Cherokee does.
They didn't want to get blown out of the water by the hemi. The new Cherokee is a bit too small for this group.
The Grand Cherokee is the right group the Cherokee belongs with the compact suvs like CRV,RAV4,CX5 OR Escape.
The Ford got the best fuel economy of this test, but was the only one not equipped with AWD. This gave it an advantage the others didn't have, so it was a distant second, and really should have been closer to 3rd place.
the Sorrento also comes with a V6 with about 290 horsepower and a third row seat I don't know why these things words mentioned
Just wish it would have been a apple apples test the Jeep was the only SUV there.
I'd love to to see the new Mazda CX-9 in another comparison test.
CJ VN Isn't it a three row crossover though?
Yes, that's why I said another comparison.
CJ VN CX-9 and Durango should have been included I cross shopped all of mid-sized SUV.
Wrong segment. CX-9 and Durango would compete with Pathfinder, Explorer, Traverse, Terrain, Pilot, Highlander, and Santa Fe.
The CX-9 has a 3rd row
These others must ride like limo's if the jeep has the most "truck like" ride. They aren't even on a truck frame anymore and ride way better than the old ones. My 12' has been been fantastic. All SUV's will totally morph into jacked up wagons within a few years.
why no durango?
Full size 3 row suv
davedavis jeep dodge chrysler, same thing
The G/C is a traditional body-on-frame true SUV not a crossover. So while the prices and some specifications overlap, it doesn't belong here. It should be compared with the Toyota 4Runner.
Its actually not. GC since the redesign in 2010, is an unibody design.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is refined and the upper models feel like a luxury SUV. But it’s horrible on gas.
You should have choosed the santa fe xl instead of the sport...
Where's the Highlander?
That belongs in the full size 7 or 8 passenger crossover class. (Which I hope they do a comparison test of those soon) The Venza that was here the last time they did this comparison was disconnected last year
I don't know if I would consider The Highlander as a full size.
Highlander is gay
Nissan Murano you rock.
Nothing about reliability?
Nope. That would kick the Murano right off this list and into outerspace.
Roman Seano jeep also reliability shit i have the grand cherooke cherokee
Does anyone know if the Jeep is superior in bad/harsh weather conditions? Seems like Jeep should get more credit for being a better bad weather vehicle.

justinbig10 the G/C is g r e a t in bad weather.
Nissan does make great seats. But it sure is ugly. The styling is one word, busy.
Kylepage64 you really need to get off the weed... The Nissan Murano is the best looking car of the group by far.
@@Holiday48000 lol no it isnt
Nissan Murano
Ford!
No off road tests I thought these were SUVs

Off the bat Cherokee needs an update !
Exterior
aayonce4 It's getting one in 2018 if I'm not mistaken
I have edge
in my country, these all inserted into the big-size suv class lol..
Come try a tahoe. Probably the best and biggest for the money.
where is Honda crv?
Jajajaja what the father
Grand Cherokee is the best
These SUV have terrible ride because of the giant wheel sizes. Once you go above 18 inches, ride turns to shit.
Jeep all the way.
The grand Cherokee is not a true suv it’s on a car based platform.
GC should be compared with Explorer, Land Rover and possibly the 4R (last body on frame in this segment). This should've had the regular cherokee and also, the GC is an unibody not body-on-frame. You guys really dont seem to know your vehicles.
Ford edge the best
Sorento shouldn't really be in this class. More like the bigger mid size SUVs. Pathfinder, Santa Fe, Explorer, Durango.
Cars.com has not changed, their reviews are still totally bias. This is why I have not watched any of their reviews for years.
niissan
They did get one thing right the Murano is #1 but the worst looking
Where is the Range Rover
CX-9 and Durango should have been included I cross shopped all of mid-sized SUV. I chose the Durango due to toeing and 7 passenger / price $46,5000
Durango and cx9 are 3 row suv this was 2 row test only
Hard to see how the Hyundai is the "value leader".
Because it is...
Curse of the tall cars.
What is happening with vehicle designs lately? They're all so uninspired, boring and fugly.
Km
the Ford should not be counted as its the only fwd. So overpriced
Have U driven 1, if not try 1, U ll be surprised
Its insanely good machine

Toyota is selling a ton of them. Sales are up big now, but it is too hardcore to run with these softies. It's more hard-edge than the Grand Cherokee. More tank than lounge.
Nissan TitanWarrior I agree 100%!!

yeah the new 4runner has some serious quality build issues especially considering how expensive it is
I think the Kia is a way better looking car than that ugly ass murano
I noticed the girls were talking mostly. I am a man. I want a man's vehicle. If I wanted luxury and lollipop looks I would buy a Lexus or a Caddy. What can these vehicles do when the going gets tough... call a man or AAA?!
Ford should've won just because that Nissan has a CVT.
