I've actually used spam in Aaron's quick jjajangmyeon recipe when I was in the mood for black bean noodles, but didn't have any pork belly or bacon. Turned out AMAZING, just had to slightly adjust seasoning to account for the extra saltiness of the spam. But it was absolutely delicious.
Making Korean food has been a hard sell for my hubby but I think he will like all of these spam recipes!! PS: I have a camp stove and plan to serve the stew on it!!
Sadly ever since Aaron's first Spam recipes I'm now hooked and just bought more Spam yesterday. Luckily I found a lower sodium lower fat Spam, although I agree soaking it in water helps too. I can't believe it's so tasty fried up with some Gogichang (sp) sugar and soy sauce! Then I mix it into scrambled eggs. Thanks so much! Love, Spam Addict.
Aaron and Claire can't be real. They are just so cute! The excitement Claire gets when the food is ready is so sweet! And I bet Aaron looks so proud when he gives it to her. Please never change
I made the rice bowl! So easy. I made a couple of mistakes, but still really good! Maybe 2-3 minutes to get it all together, a few minutes to make and supper was ready. I have a bowl for tomorrow's lunch. Thank you. Simple and good! You are right about dressing it up with green onions. And I think the onions taste great and add a touch of crunch.
@@ardiris2715 darn- ok. I guess my mom tolerates the flavorless version! But I know what u mean- we need that “porky” taste! I make SPAM sandwiches with it and I even add tobasco sauce which makes it more saltier but I do offset that with delicious white bread! This was our “go to” snack when we went fishing! Now doing low carb so I cook spam (25% less sodium) and cut in cubes and toss them in with my homemade salad- best “meat” for my quick and easy salad when I don’t have other protein/meat around.
These recipes look great; i think I'll have to start keeping a few tins of spam around the house. I also want to say how wonderful your positivity is. "Hello from Seoul" always puts a smile on my face, and Aaron's humorous asides and Claire's enthusiasm seems like the perfect combo to make a great day even better, or to make a bad day a little brighter. Thanks guys for making these videos. I have lived in Seoul for six years and loved every minute of it. Now I am making Korean food for myself because the restaurant is a hassle with all of this COVID going on.
Thanks Aaron for the cooking tip on spam. Is low sodium spam available in Korea? If so it might work better with less salt in the spam. Also was the tofu firm or soft in the dishes? To me it looks like Claire liked the stew better the the other. Thanks again Aaron for the recipe.
Haha Yes, you are right! The stew was Claire's favorite! 🤣😍 About your questions, yes! The low sodium spam is available in Korea and that would also work beautifully in these recipes. And the tofu that I used is firm tofu! Hope this helps! 🤗
Spam has been a thing in my kitchen since someone I was dating took me to a Korean restaurant and insisted that we get some dishes with spam in them. I had never had it before and only heard jokes about how bad it was and I liked it a lot. I do like making spam fried rice at least once a week now. I love these videos for giving me more ideas on how to use my spam so these will always get a thumbs up from me.
Wow! Aaron! This was a winner for sure! I made the Jjageuli tonight for dinner, rainy night, couldn't decide what to cook until I watched your video. I didn't have any spam but I did have kielbasa, a type of polish sausage. It was AMAZING!!! It was so good, we ran out of the leftover rice we were eating it with! I'll be making this a LOT! So good! Thank you!!
Back in the day when I was a kid (50’s-60’s), my Mom would slice Spam like you did into even slices. Then she would dip each slice into and egg wash and then into seasoned bread crumbs and skillet fry them. Once browned on both sides she served them over white rice. In the meantime she took a can of pineapple chunks and the juice in a saucepan and heated them through and thickened it with cornstarch and a tiny bit of cold water. She would ladle the sauce on top of the spam and rice. She just had a bottle of soy sauce on the table if we wanted any. Aahh she should have sprinkled chopped green onions on the top!😆 Thanks so much you two for the recipes and videos! I love watching them always.👍
Far as I know the company is called "Spam". There might be store brands like Safeway. Has "Signature Select" brand but it looks and taste. The same..... Maybe .50 cheaper.

Ooo you know another yummy spam recipe? Fry some spam with onion and garlic. Add in some milk and melt in slice of American cheese or two. Add in a cooked bowl of rice 🍚 and mix it all together. Sprinkle black pepper at the end. Mmm creamy cheesy spam risotto thing. So good.
Gamja Jjageuli was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this video but I always make it with the spam crushed up a bit and add doenjang as well as gochujang. But I will definitely try it with oyster sauce when I run out of doenjang. Its one of my favourite foods! Spam rice bowls are my to for an easy breakfast but I make it more along the lines of ganjang gyeran-bap with added spam haha

Actually, the level of spiciness is more affected by the amount of gochugaru and chili peppers (not gochujang). So how about skipping the chili peppers first? If you're still worried, I recommend adding less gochugaru, Korean chili pepper flakes.😊🙌
