Arlo Guthrie told me that Alice eventually opened a restaurant 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣 That is good one love it
Well done!!!
Thank you for this!!!! Please give a listen to Elton's "Sweet Painted Lady" and " Danny Baily."
Both of those are awesome.
Now you know why this is one of my top five favorite songs from E.J. This song just Kicks Ass in every way. Thanks again.
Missed out on a mother's love and a father's strength. Sad story for sure
Bernie with those great lyrics, and Elton and the band playing it nice.
If the question is... What are the ten greatest Rock albums of all time?.... "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is in the conversation.
Imagine how controversial this was at the time! We didn't let out parents hear it.
You got that right. 😂😂
My Papa asked if I listen to the lyrics too many times. Can't imagine what he thought about this one. I played this album 100 x's
GBRBR is one of the best R&R records of all time. Writing, lyrics, musicians.
Harmony.
good bye red brick road? s/b gybr
Elton John was on fire in the early years, he and Bernie (who John would not be who he became without) couldn't miss. Most will confirm that Yellow Brick Road was his greatest effort. While creating the album, John mentioned how the ideas were coming fast and furious, a truly inspired time. Top 50 rock album of all time.
Ol' Bernie can write a story, can't he?
Yes. We grew up with them.
Saw this live in 1980 and it blew the doors off. The synthesizer part actually vibrated the concrete floor of the arena. Such a great rocker thats on permanent playlist I have.

Love the intro guitar! Good story song but sad! Thanks
Alice was a 16 year old who couldn’t get it on with the boys on the scene. So she fell in with a group of (I guess) mothers of her fellow students and slept with them while their husbands were away.
I follow a few reactors. I see some of them do the same songs you do a few days later. YOU are becoming a Trend Setter.

Elton John’s best album in my opinion was a combination of great songwriting, singing and musicianship. The band was solid and was also fantastic live..
great song

Oh boy, what a track to react to!!!
Straight ahead rock. The band is killing it.
Alice Was A Lesbian.
Yes, we know.

The album this song comes from may be Elton John at his best. A double album with not a filler in the bunch. I would have picked a few other songs before this one however.
Elton was unable to sing and play this song in the same 'time" as he got older. He has to slow it down a bit. The only 'authentic" video in the same fast time for this song is from Central Park 1980. (at least the only one I know on youtube)

This is a top-5 track for me, from this album, and that's a hard decision to make. You gotta go through the whole thing man-I'm enjoying your reactions too much! Not that you're gonna do this, but this is one of those albums-(a double album!) that you can listen to front to back, and the sequencing is perfect. Also, in answer to your question, this story, written by Elton's lyricist Bernie Taupin, is on of their first overt forays about gay culture in Soho, Westminster, London, a posh area that had a seedy side in the '70s. It's about a popular teenaged Lesbian prostitute from a prominent family (a double-barrel name in the back of her brain) who ends up dead in a Tube station. It's gripping, great noire-esque stuff from Taupin and the band. Kind of brutal.
Man. You’ve got to know what’s going on.
For your own knowledge/education enlightenment and entertainment I suggest you watch this live performance with two of the most legendary guitarist the world will ever know, with special guest, The Master of the keyboard-Sir Elton John... Enjoy.... Eric Clapton - Mark Knopfler. Live in Tokio 1988 Full concert - AI Restored 4K

Elton wrote this song about Alice Cooper, that's something you should check into. A couple suggestions being Welcome to my nightmare, Killer, Street Turks and one of my favorites, Halo of flies....
Absolute bollocks. Bernie Taupin wrote these lyrics, as he was Elton's lyricist then, and his lyrics most certainly weren't about freakin' Alice Cooper. Did you read that story off a cereal box, and not read the actual lyrics printed on the jacket?
Bollocks? what kind of dumbass are you? Learn your history shit for brains.... @@rollomaughfling380
What a way to promote your own request. Total utter bollocks.
