the WHOLE album is a masterpiece.
Elton opened his live shows with this song for many years.
The band should get a lot of credit here. Their instrumentation was their own creation. This was played live in the recording studio, in the fashion of basically a jam session. Elton would have written the basic tune, but the rest (and the backing vocals) were created by the band.
What a masterpiece. Anything EARLY Elton John is just that as well.
I just wish my good Bluetooth headphones didn’t bite the dust earlier. This song has to be listened to loud.
This song doesn't just take you on a journey...it takes you through an ODYSSEY!
Elton John - vocals, piano Davey Johnstone - guitar, vocals Dee Murray - bass, vocals Nigel Olsson - drums, vocals David Hentschel - synthesizer... All Master Craftsman at their instrument.
This is off of one of my all time favorite albums that I never get tired of listening to. Every song on it is a gem starting with this and ending with "Harmony".
I saw Elton live in 1980 and this was what he opened up the concert with. It blew eveyone away. You knew after this opening that you were in for something special. Its in my top five concerts going back to 1976 seeing Gary Wright, Santana and Peter Frampton in one concert.
That song is a freakin' achievement.
Never a dull moment on this masterful song! That’s the kind of music piece that were created when artists were allowed to develop a theme and let loose.
This is Elton and the band at their epic best.
A stunning album by an exceptional group of performers.
R.I.P. Dee Murray,what a bass player!
This Masterpiece deserves a re-visit to watch performed Live!
I have seen Elton John at least 5 times through the years and it was a great show/experience each time. As you say, the musical arrangement is just genius.
Sublime , those lucky enough to have seen Elton , knows he is a true showman , regular 2 . 5 - 3 hours sets , even when he was at his most famous ❤
This masterpiece album really let the boys show off their amazing skills. Davy, Dee, and Nigel, what a choir.
50 years ago at 19 years old I buy this album, with Charlie, Richard and Bob we listen to the entire album twice and were blown away from the music and the Maui Wowi buds we packed in the Bong.
That's so cool ...Redbud Columbian around here was good..
Hell yes
HIGH....I sparked up my pipe just for your comment.@@lorilxn1597
Best song off his best album.
It's great when he starts the live show with this.
Berzerkely Greek Theatre summer 1983. Only F----n $20🤑😁
He recently retired.
"I wonder if those changes have left a scar on you, like all those burnin' hoops of fire that you and I passed through".
This is the first Album i ever brought brilliant loved your reaction👍👍
Listen to it with good headphones! Like I did back in my bedroom in 1978 when I was fourteen years old. In the dark. It takes you on a wild, wild journey. Its the transitions! Faster and slower, louder and softer, the buildups, the chord changes, the surprises. You never know where you're headed until you get there and then suddenly you're somewhere else and you don't know how you got there. And its just as good and sometimes even better in concert! Seen him perform this many times and it never gets old.
7 Elton john elton john ice does a song
You know, it's not good, it's not good when butcher's back. I'm just sitting out and saying in it. I'll ride😊😅😊😊
Hell yeah! Can remember sitting on my bedroom floor just completely mesmerized by this entire album but this song is one of my top 3 Elton songs! Mind blowing
Another excellent reaction assessment to another excellent song from another excellent artist make a lot of excellence on your channel, again. Thanks again.
On that album is Good-bye Yellow Brick Road and Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting.
You have to react to the entire album! I was 10 years old when this album came out, and the first song that let me know of Elton's existence was "Bennie and The Jets," which is in this album. You're right, these songs are masterpieces!
my all-time favorite elton john song!
This song was recorded in a castle for the sound effects.
One of Elton John’s best songs.
"Love Lies Bleeding"
The roses in the window box have tilted to one side
Everything about this house is gonna grow and die
Oh, it doesn't seem a year ago to this very day
You said I'm sorry honey, if I don't change the pace
I can't face another day
And love lies bleeding in my hand
Oh, it kills me to think of you with another man
I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan
But my guitar couldn't hold you, so, I split the band
Love lies bleeding in my hands
I wonder if those changes have left a scar on you
All the burning hoops of fire that you and I passed through
You're a bluebird on a telegraph line, I hope you're happy now
While if the wind of change comes down your way girl
You'll make it back somehow
And love lies bleeding in my hand
Oh, it kills me to think of you with another man
I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan
But my guitar couldn't hold you, so, I split the band
Love lies bleeding in my hands
And love lies bleeding in my hand
Oh, it kills me to think of you with another man
I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan
But my guitar couldn't hold you, so, I split the band
Love lies bleeding in my hands
Ho-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Ho-oh-oh-oh-oh-ho-oh
Ho-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Love lies bleeding in my hands
Ho-oh-oh
Ho-oh-oh-oh-oh
I hear Rush, the Who and the right amount of Elton John in this beauty. Oh, and early Genesis. Great Elton John rocker.
Yes it is a masterpiece from a musical genius and he had many
This song is an epic masterpiece!!!! Elton John is a musical genius!!!!!!
I just wanted to say, this is Elton Johns most METAL song ever... The context and the rhythm is EPIC.
Dream Theater does a brilliant rendition for this track, just masterful.
This is my third favorite Elton John song. My personal favorite is Sixty Years On on the 11/17/70 album. Second favorite would be My Father's Gun
@@rustywinchester782 listen to sixty years on live at Moscow 1979,you will love that version
@@thecyberskeleton9589 looking it up now.
@@thecyberskeleton9589 thanks, you are correct. The difference of nine years shows an improvement on his already incredible piano skills.
We can appreciate and understand the smiles and chuckles hearing this Ear Candy. Listening to this song for the first time did that to all of us... especially if you were thoroughly baked like I was.
The lyrics, written by Bernie Taupin called the "Love Lies Bleeding" lyric "a statement of what touring and rock and roll does to the family life." depicts what the fast-paced lifestyle of rock and roll touring does. Bernie, who was married to his first wife at the time, whom he later divorced, communicates this brilliantly with: “Everything about this house was born to grow and die.”
He was married to the inspiration for the song "Tiny Dancer" ❤
The line is " Everything about this house was born to grow and die."
Although I was never a huge Elton fan, this is one anthem that I simply MUST have included at my funeral. I actually wanted to play it at my wedding, but she wouldn't have none of that (maybe that's why we aren't married anymore). One of my favorite tracks of all time.
So correct; an absolute masterpiece ⚜️
Elton surrounded himself with a creative talented band and recorded it raw with masterful production. This was probably his peak before his decent into pop rock commercialism.
One of the GREATEST albums ever made!!
Keep smiling , what a song
All the young girls love Alice my favorite song that no one ever talks about
I agree with you. Yes, this is a great song. I love instrumentals more than lyrics in the first place.
