In this latest collaboration between Bruno Cathala and Ludovic Maublanc, players must buy the favor of the gods in their race to be the first player to build two cities in the Ancient Greek island group known as the Cyclades.
Victory requires respect for all the gods - players cannot afford to sacrifice to only one god, but must pay homage to each of five gods in turn. Each turn, the players bid for the favors of the gods, as only one player can have the favor of each god per turn - and each player is also limited to the favor of a single god per turn.
Ares allows the movement of player armies and the building of Fortresses.
Poseidon allows players to move their navies and build Ports.
Zeus allows his followers to hire priests and build temples.
Athena provides her worshipers with philosophers and universities.
Apollo increases the income of his worshipers. - Игры
This was one of my first games that got me into the hobby back in college. I am loving these collabs you have been doing recently!
This is one of my favourite collab videos from you guys, great job all 3 of you, really enjoyable!
I played Cyclades a long time ago and just once with Titans expansion, but when we play the best strategy which works for me is to heavily invest in Zeus in the first part of the game to have an advantage paying for God's activation. But usually, we have no situation where one player feels left behind as the race for the win is more or less equal. In my group, we try to stop player in the lead, therefore in late-game usually most of the players have a chance to win. I noticed that at least one player has a possibility to outbid another player who is trying to secure God for a winning move. So everything falls to negotiation, bluff, and anticipation.
I love this game, but and need to play it soon once more :)
Got my copy of Kemet: Blood and Sand in the other day and I'm so happy! Rumor has it that Matagot is doing a 2nd edition of Cyclades since they finished Kemet. Super excited for that!
A second edition? Well, I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for that release.
I had this in the background most of the video just listening to it, so that pause at the end got me.
I realise it's not meant to reflect a real game, but having a 3 player game setup on the 5-6 player map, with the 6 player god board is driving me slightly crazy.
Lol, that's fair. It was just set up for the video.
I hate bidding in games. I always miscalculate and bid less when I needed more and vice versa.
But in this one, bidding is done so nicely I actually enjoyed it. And bidding is my most "hated" mechanic in games.
I love this game so much!
What's the news on the second or new edition that is supposed to come out for Cyclades? Will there be upgraded components, board, etc.
jessie " you'd pick me" Best line ever, still laughing!
Still hoping to get you and Alex trying Anachrony. I don't think Alex has yet tried to play that one although he does have it on his shelf. Loved the ending...🤣 Froze - went to a commercial - returned to froze.... perfect Alex. 😂
01:36 Like a boss 😎💪
Had this for a year and still waiting to get to the table
For bidding I tend to go to Nidavellir at the moment. It's the perfect heavyness for me when it comes to bidding because when I want that mechanic ... I also don't wanna lose everything I build to when I lose a bid :p
Kemet arrived a while ago, would love to play it but groups are still tricky here :/
New Kemet is so pretty. I really hope you check it out.
Playing with Cycaldes Titans is like Cyclades 2.0
It really adds to the game.
Excellent video gang! I had no interest in this game but the video was so good I watched the whole thing with bated breath…
Quack! You got me!
It's pronounced: "Key-Claw-Dess"
Nice overview, guys!
I really wanna try the C3K expansion to get the Kemet minis into the mix.
Did you ever end up trying C3K? I was wondering if it is worth buying
@@andrewclifton1233 i printed it and played base game with monuments and c3k. I think it's very good, making fight more frequent and making the game faster.
@@immolate_ Thanks. Where did you find the files for the print and play? That sounds like a good way to try it before buying it
I mistook this game for 'Monstrous' another unique card game about mythological creatures!
Three of my favourite youtubers (well actually 1+ sidekicks, where the sidekicks talk way too much and incoherently ;-))
My top 5 games are all area control. Blood rage being my favorite, and Kemet my second one. And I really didn't liked Cyclades, for how much focus it has on the bidding and NOT on the board.
If we could move every round in the game, and the gods gave us a BONUS for that, I'd love it. But as it is, with you only being able to move at all if you win the bid for the game prevents me from enjoying the experience =/
Nothing better than a good pregnant pause
"Area control is not my genre" - says big fan of Root ;-)
Yet, somehow I feel exactly the same as him !
I love Root, but am not keen on area control games..
@@DarkThomy But that's my point - if you love Root then you are keen on at least one area control game. Try playing the Eyrie without clearings with Roosts. Or the cats without clearings with their buildings. Clearings are are areas that you need control over. You can't be even move without rule (control).
@@oerthling Yeah I guess so, I don't know why Cyclades felt that much different to me than Root.
Yet it does.
@@DarkThomy Well, they are very different games - but both put dudes on the map and want to control areas (and/or deny access to opponents).
