- Hürda Gürda Mürder - the brand new Scandinavian detective drama.
Contains some strong language.
Don't worry, it contains no spoilers for The Killing/Forbrydelsen.
We did a sketch show at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012: www.edfringe.com/whats-on/come...
We may have a celebrity fan or two: i.imgur.com/HIVBQ.jpg - Приколы
Got here after seeing that one ginger guys video about scandanavian crime shows. Both are criminally underapreciated
You know about Gunder Gundersonson’s mourdor?
@@jkk244 ya. I hear it could be anyone in Helgesund
@@cthree7792 that’s over 7 people!
Likewise!
Same
The ill-suited and way-too-busy background audio is killing me. This is terrific.
2 seconds in to the phone call
- She's been arrested, she signed a full confession and the she commited suicide.
-That was quick
-Thats scandinavian efficiency.
Cracked me up!
Well done!
One nitpick: the closing theme music should have been an incomprehensible song (in English) sung by a female, possibly with acoustic instrument accompaniment, rendered in as distant and ethereal a voice as possible to achieve a poignant, haunting effect.
All European detective shows seem to end with these would-be soulful warbles.
Cheers, but I did use the actual closing music from The Killing.
This is outstanding!!! You nailed the Midsomer / Wallander idiosyncracies spot on. Well done!!!
The crossover we didnt knew we deserved. How am I only discovering this now?
i love how hurda gurda actually almost becomes "hur går det" which translates into "how is it going". subs are spot on
Spot on, says this 30-year resident of Copenhagen. Still laughing.
All of us in this video are involved in Much Ado About Nothing at Wandle Park, Croydon, 27 to 30 July 2016!
I found this by accident, I enjoyed it immensely
I lost it at "Hürda f-in gürda."
:-D
I love the bit about how Midsomer solves three murders in 90 minutes and it takes the Scandinavians a whole series to solve one. This send-up absolutely nailed it, as much for the Scandinavian variety as for the English... "208 murders and only 209 residents."
Thank you!
For those in the South London area, "Sarah Lund" and "Nanna Birk Larsen" are starring in Steel Magnolias at the CryerArts, Carshalton from 27 to 30 April 2022, directed by "Barnaby" with "Wallander" doing the lighting and sound!
Absolutely superb Michael ! You had everything in there that a good Scandinavian spoof should have , and I loved the cast list at the end.
I hope that Owen makes a speedy recovery - I did exactly the same running in the marathon back in 1983 !
I just got here from Guner Gunerson. A new crime show from Scandanavia!
Wonderful. The closing credits (and what followed) really made me laugh!
Tak.
You kinda missed the part where questions are asked, but never verbally answered. Instead, the other person answers by staring, blinking, tilting their head, and then looking away. And somehow, the person who originally asked the question is satisfied with the answer. Drama! Art! Also, the part where shit happens that's totally out of the protagonist's control, but they get blamed for it anyway, and actually take it to heart, looking like they're about to cry--and then get more shit piled on top.
Not really meant to be art
@@mareksicinski3726 But what is art?
Thank you.
We made this last August, so Saga was still 9 months in the future on BBC4.
The IKEA murder spanner
@batterseaexile Thank you. Those chimneys visible at 2:20 are indeed at the branch of Ikea in Croydon.
@Bad Lieutenant Nej.
I think that joke was based on a Friday Night Armistice item from the 90s about the special Ikea "Paastable", the table that needed to be used for the Northern Ireland peace talks.
Thank you so much. I'm just starting the editing of my next video (another Done in 60 Seconds entry), which features all of the Hurda Gurda Murder cast (although I'll probably end up cutting my appearance out), plus lots of new people and a few others.
In fact, I did see The Guard last year in the cinema, and enjoyed it a great deal.
Croydon never looks so Swedish 2:17
Thanx youtube for showing me this 10 years later
Thank you for commenting. :-) I will always appreciate the love for this video.
This is absolutely brilliant
Tak.
This was meant as a compliment! It was a masterly tribute to the genre. Bra! You should also check out the film The Guard to see what the Irish can do. By the way we had a Viking invasion over 1000 years ago and we are still trying to get over it. Since then we have had the Normans and English. Thankfully, they have nearly all left now and things are not so dull!
Thanks for all the support for this video. Next up for me, I'm directing the play Private Peaceful, from the writer of "War Horse", Michael Morpurgo, adapted by Simon Reade. A really moving story of the first world war. It's on at the Charles Cryer Theatre in Carshalton, South London from 23 to 26 April. Very different from Hurda Gurda Murder, but very good!
Dear Schnorbs,
The clip is great. Actually I am producing a tv documentary about NORDIC NOIR and would really like to talk to you. If you could mail me to caroline@shootforthemoon.se, I would appreciate it very much. All the best and congratulations for a great production. Caroline
Schnorbs! Hope you are Schnorbing well these days. Why are you silent and unvisible these five years? I wish you well!
@@geekdivaherself Hi. Well, I changed jobs (seem to have less time for extra curricular things) and the Done in 60 Seconds competition wasn't run any more.
@@Schnorbs Ah! Well, thanks for letting me know! Wishing you well in your endeavors.
@Verence71 I found out a couple of months ago that Midsomer is shown in Denmark under that title (hence it's a search term for the video). I didn't realise it was on the same network.
Excellent! Tak!! Just when I thought I couldn't laugh any more you hit us with those credits :D
Did anyone else notice the map of Jersey in the bottom of Tom Barnaby's wallet?? It looks like the picture from the Bergerac opening credits that transformed into the word Bergerac
It's been announced that the 100th episode of Midsomer Murders will be partly filmed in Denmark and Ann Eleonora Jorgensen (Pernile Birk Larsen) from The Killing and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (Katrine Fønsmark) from Borgen will be appearing in it
@Verence71 I'm sure Sarah would love that! It's confusing, as this video features two ladies called Sarah, one of whom is also playing a character called Sarah.
You've also picked up on the inspiration for the Svartman moment!
I Love it! Thank you!
Loved this Michael.
Gunargunarsom brought me here
Oh yes. Thanks so much for the comment.
åkej Ive seen this thing a löt now and its still hilarious
Thanks. Trying to find time to email press release to various publications. But have a look on the Inside Croydon blog for a review from Andrew Pelling.
So, it was Felicity Kendal with the murde spanna in the ....well lit Swedish log cabin?
Kleuedo?
Love it
@Verence71 Well done on being the first person to spot (or at least spot and comment on) that one!
@matthewrowley Thank you so much, Matthew.
Unfortunately, the day I get to meet Sarah Lund herself (see photo link in info above), our "Lisbeth Salander" has just gone and broken his fifth metatarsal in a stage rehearsal. So come and see Fame at the Ashcroft Theatre, Croydon, 26 to 29 October, and you'll see our chum Owen possibly on crutches.
Nej Jussi, hürda gürda hurdvärd flöör !
Thank you! Please also vote for our version of Robocop in 60 seconds, a finalist in the Empire Done in 60 Seconds again for 2013!
I saw a preview of one of the new Swedish Wallanders last month - "Den orolige mannen" (The Troubled Man). Wallander with signs of Alzheimers. That's more miserable than Branagh's Wallander.
I've been so busy with another stage production (The Pirates of Penzance in Kingston) that I haven't seen episodes 5 to 10 yet. Episodes 5 and 6 have expired from BBC iPlayer, so I'll be buying the DVD tomorrow... PLEASE don't spoil it all for me. Tak.
Drama at its peak
Too kind!
Ha ha. Reminds me of a comment on Facebook somewhere in the middle of series 2. "Episode 4 of The Killing SO exciting" -"Did something happen?" "It almost did!"
(I don't find the real thing dull, I think that was what I didn't say clearly enough.)
@Schnorbs Did you know that Midsommer Murders is shown in Denmark under the title Kriminalkommisær Barnaby on the same network that makes The Killing??
Sky Atlantic got thr idea for Fortitude after watching this.
Spot on.
Brilliant!
you still around?
Loved it. :)
+M Leslie Thanks!
Brilliant! Especially when you total fan of everything paroded here :) :) :) - as I am :)
This is so accurate, it hürts!
Tre timmar senare = four hours later 🤣 Must be Central European time then
I think you're the first person to spot that this is a moment where the subtitle doesn't match the original. Deliberately, I might add!
@@Schnorbs Almost ten years later... 😅
I'm still waiting for the second season of HGM
Well, we had a reunion with all four of us at a friend's wedding today. (The guy with the windscreen wiper in "Robocop in 60 Seconds" and "Gary" at the end of Footballe's Grammar).
@seventyfour1833 Thank you very much.
Incidentally, are you someone I know in real life, or did you just pick up the names from the video?
My Danish colleague is in fits of laughter over this!
Now Series 3 has finished, it's over to you Schnorbs to prevent further withdrawal symptoms. Tak
oooooh love it, thank you, so funny
Tak. And I'm guessing you noticed the incorrect translation at 3:52?
And greetings to anyone who looked for this video after its mention in The Times on Saturday. Hai hai. Hai hai hai. Hai.
I came here via the Graun comments too. Splendid. Am off to IKEA......
It's a shame.you can't post photos here , as all four of us are at our friend Peter's birthday party, evening after the Coronation, fancy dress theme "royalty".
Well done!
About time we get something decent out of all these Scandinavian crime shows; I'm still trying to figure out what makes them so much better than something like The Shield. Must be their exoticism.
Lisbeth Salander played by Ted Mosby
Hope your Fringe Festival show gets enough interest to be put on TV
Dull? That was meant as a compliment. I laughed myself silly and sent it on to half the known world.
I liked the part where they said "hurda gurda".
Tak.
Brilliant! But where is Saga Norén. I’m just relived that they are out of ‘Piet’ van der Valk’s jurisdiction.
Absolutely hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing. A brilliant and exceptionally well done parody.
Great credits
Amadeus190890
Tak!
Det var så lidt.
I came here looking for the Gunder Gundersonson’s murder
This deserves jsut as much views. Hurda Gurda Midsomer Murder😂😂😂😂😂
Dragon with the girl tattoo.
Well, if you say so.
Just reading the title already made me laugh. Basically, I only stopped laughing to hear the lines.
This is brilliant. Thanks. Did I also spy the (in)famous Croydon Ikea towers briefly there?
Yes you did.
Mordar spana!hahahaha
"Dull"? "DULL"!!??
And strangely enough, they don't show Irish cop shows in Britain, as far as I'm aware.
Good review :)
Whoelse came here after every single scandinavian crime drama
Waaaaaaait a moment! Who killed the 208th citizen of Midsommer if not the detective himself?!
TheNightEyes er... It was a murder-suicide.
Schnorbs Brilliant! Must have been a short episode though. I watched this video a million times, keep up the great work!
Hilarious!!!!

All those really happened in Midsomer Murders
With one exception...
@Schnorbs In cases like this Wikipedia is your friend :)
Lisbeth looks more like a Finne XD
Michael Håll! Mein schwedischer Lieblingsschauspieler! Hallo, Michael! Tschüüüss!
Tak! Sounds like you're speaking German. Which is of course one of the 71 languages we speak.
Hilarious! - Mange tak ;-)
That Lisbeth is getting a bit too touchy !
All of this is even more hilarious when you know that the rate of solved murders in Sweden is almost non existent.
Wdym
Rate is low U mean
hëhë
Wait, did SNL stole this sketch?
Wait? What? When?
Almost as dull as the real thing! What about taking on Irish Cop series like Garda Patrol or Love/Hate? The lighting Iis better, the scenery is nice and they serve Enh
cute parody
What is it with Scandinavian's and awful jumpers!
Mister Precocious Second best eBay bargain I've ever had.
