Swedish Comedy - Grotesco 1 (English Subtitles)

- I have this idea of uploading different kinds of Swedish comedy. Everything from the low brow stuff to the pitch black satire. I will upload three episodes of every show in case anyone wants to see more of a particular show.
Grotesco is a pretty recent show that has become really popular. The show is the result of a TV-show where different comedy troupes competed for the opportunity to produce eight full length episodes of their own TV-show, the winner was Grotesco and this is their first episode.

To explain why Göteborg in 1973 was so terrifying is that the comedy had gone so wrong and people were actually dying in the streets, running out screening uncontrollable after hearing the latest Kålle och Ada jokes (just look them up and you'll understand but of course the killing jokes are all removed).
They had to build a huge 100 foot tall wall all around the city to contain it and it took almost 10 years for the murderous joke outbreak to die down and Göteborg could become part of Sweden again.
When the wall was taken down it was stored in secret tunnels under the city as it's believed that Kålle och Ada still lurk in the oldest part of Haga.
I know i'm 6 years late, but this is so funny. I'm laughing my ass off.

As someone who lived and studied in Gothenburg, the stereotypes are hilariously accurate.

I recently moved to Sweden from the UK and have absolutely loved watching Swedish comedy - the TV series, films and comedians are all hilarious here.
I know you said that you'd only put up three episodes, but if you could find your way to translate more that'd be absolutely amazing as I just can't find subtitles for the other episodes :/

This somehow reminds me of Promedio Rojo (Chilean film) it has a similar humor in some scenes. Especially on the hero fantasies. I recommend that one even though it is in Spanish.

Becuse as an Gothenburger my self (Göteborgare) they did kinda hit all the puns of Stockholm look at Gothenburg, many words and scentenses frome Gothenburg/swedisness in the world and american movies!
And then "snus" is wet powder tobaco, that we put up in our uper lip, its kind of or similar to chewing tobaco in US.. exept one dont need to chew it!
Makerel is a pelagish fish, lives in the Atlantic, there is altso a soccer team (GAIS) thats cald "The makerels" (makrillarna), they have green and black stripes on there outfits!
But its altso about that Gothenburg have the biggest harbour in scandinavia and have direct conection to the Atlantic for our fishing fleet!
In anyway, ordanary Gothenburger eat "international food", but if you ever visit Gothenburg, our premium resturantes often serve fresh seafood! Its a speciality for them becuse of the aboundance of fresh sea food!

If you mean the Gothenburg song, then it was specifically made for this TV-show, so it isn't really available to listen to, except in this episode.

I see it's only been 4 weeks so ok I'll reply. It's parody and if you haven't seen what it's parodying it'll probably be unfunny. I would even go as far as to say that most young Swedes won't get it because there are refences to "Jubel i busken" and that was last seen on TV in the late 1970s...
