Matt is a great guide and teacher! You could not have picked a better person for this course. Looking forward to seeing the full course! Thanks! Stay Safe and Healthy
Salt Strong is awesome! Glad to see Matt on here sharing his knowledge. I found Salt Strong through him last year as I found the offer to order some free Slam Shady lures. From there I joined the Salt Strong Community and I am so glad I did. And to boot my wife is glad I did too!
A Penn Battle II 6000 might be a solid reel for this type of fishing. Max Inches Per Turn: 41 Max Gear Ratio: 5.6:1 Line Capacity: 490 yards of 30-pound braid
Check out some epoxy jigs too!! I love throwing them up here in the northeast in late summer for Spanish, falsies, bonito, and blues. Put a flashy streamer/ teaaser up in front and throw it with a light surf rod and its the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
Probably the best lure for me on the beach is doc goofy jig, white spro buck tail jigs, or diamond spoon the one that Bama bum use is a vertical jig perfect for bridge in Tampa area
Look at you go! I've been watching you since before you met Brant. I just became a saltstrong insider, but I've been buying lures and things but I've always wanted to surf fish and never had the opportunity. I will watch the course. Stay bummy!!
Great tip guys. This is my current go to fishing style for the surf. So many bites where as before I would get skunked. You do need a reel with a high retrieval rate to make it easy. A light reel that pulls in 40 inches plus of line per turn would be ideal. However, I use one that pulls in 38 inches per turn, and I get decent results.
Bama Beach Bum , love the information and your channel! This is definitely my new favorite lure… here in SoCal I‘be catching a lot of sharks and rays and having so much fun ‼️🍻
@@madkow2001 I never have but definitely would…been finding out through trial an error these fish will bit anything… the secret is finding them and presenting whatever bait you are using the way they normally eat it. For me it’s cast as far as possible… let it hit bottom ( make sure your gear is rated ) once you have felt the bottom, lift and retrieve and then stop, let it hit the bottom again and repeat! 🍻
Thanks again! We have so many sharks here in SWFL too, I want to take my son out and target them one day. If all goes well we’ll make it a regular thing. I have all the gear just haven’t used it yet. I bought it all last year specifically to target 🦈 at night.

Caught a couple whiting on diamond jigs the other day here in South Texas. Jig was about 3”, fish were about 8”. Mangrove snappers hit the smaller jigs like crazy near the rocks. But it’s a tricky game jigging near the rocks with treble hooks, so you may lose some there.

I think the first catch is a great example of why treble hooks are bad. Nothing good comes from using treble hooks for catch and release....or even catch 'n keep. They can hook top and bottom of the mouth, damage other parts of the fish, catch the angler trying to get them out, ruin nets....and some stories of the fish being out of the water too long dealing with the removal. I am switching to all single in-line hooks. Nothing is worth the trouble of trebles.

This Beach Fishing course is going to be amazing!
Woah it’s so cool to see Beach Bum as part of the SALT STRONG TEAM
Great addition to the team Salt Strong. Is Matthew still selling those Bummy Sticks? Was that a 9-footer?
I am new to surf fishing but I purchased one of these lures and it's a 3oz.. Is that too heavy? Thank you

What are you using to catch
The sharks?
@@madkow2001 same thing….but 2 ounce… diamond jig or dart…purple and crome have been the best color for me 🍻
Thank you for such a quick reply. Do you use the same black and silver color he has in the link? Thx again!!

were was this filmed?
Probably Alabama, since that’s where bamabeachbum lives.
Could be northwest Florida too. When you cast to the East, your lure lands in Florida.
What kind of rod and size you use for that
What is the brand and name of that lure?
Clarkspoon Diamond Jig
Great great video. What rig did you have there?

Lot of truth there! Thanks for the comment.
Switching out the trebles out of my lures for the same reasons. Thanks for the comment. Tight lines
@@MrTalmaguerfor this application, what style/size hook did you go with?
anyone catch that rod in the sand getting bit while he was showing the lure?? lol sick
Epic trip!
Beach bum is the g.o.a.t.
Nice catches, but who needs long pants on the beach?
Thanks for watching! Sun protection is important for us so long pant is normally a must!
Without watching the video I'm going out on a limb (and showing my age) by guessing a spoon. Okay it's not much of a limb, more like a no brainer.
Beach Bum!!
💪🏼👍👍 👍
BAMA BEACH BUM
