I've had my 2013 since 2015 and I think I have turned on the radio maybe twice or three times, the sounds that engine produces during down shifts is music to my ears.
Great point
Same over here .
I own one. It looks way better in person than most photos or videos will depict. The metallic paint in sunlight is beautiful. I've owned E46 and E92 M3's, M2, E63AMG, S4 with V8, various 911's ...etc. They're all great cars in their own right. If I tracked a car, the 911's or M3's would be the way to go. I loved the look of the M2, but it felt a bit cheap inside and it lacked the soul you get from a V8 (like the RS5's) or 911's and M3's. However, the M2 handled exceptionally well, and again, it was super cool in looks (too bad they ruined it with the new design).
This RS5 with V8 has as Glenn describes an amazing V8 that sounds like a $200K+ car, especially with the sports exhaust or after market exhaust. Plus for those that live in colder climates that get snow, you can run all seasons and have a very fun sports car to get your jollies in the winter. What's also nice about it is how it can go from beast mode high performance to more gentle around town cruiser.
Lastly, as Glenn states, I think it will become collectible especially when you think about the limited production of them matched with timeless looks and naturally aspirated V8. It's a future classic. They're freaking steal in the $30K's.
Agreed. They are a steal in that price. Unfortunately the lighting was bad for this video but the color does pop in sunlight.
This car SHINES in person. Videos and pictures do not do it justice. I was lucky enough to find one the looks exactly like this one with only 36K miles. LOOOVE it! That engine is my therapy.
You are 100% correct. enjoy !
Id' rather have this than any of your options. It looks so much better than that M3. This is really where Audi started making waves and I'd guess, market share. Timeless
Great choice
I just bought one at 115k. Still pulls great. Needs 7k to get it up to perfect but works great otherwise. Only problems are suspension related.
Good to hear. Congrats !
I own a silver prism b8 rs5. Came from 2 previous b8 s5's. Love love love my RS.
great car congrats !
Bought one yesterday at 61k miles drives like a beast. Only got it because of that engine 🤩
Great to hear!
How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?
@@tiltedtoken1450 i just bought one with 95k miles for 26k CAD (before tax) which is probably around 22k USD. A steal imo
Hll@Madness1337 hey I'm planning on buying mine it's also around 95k miles, is it safe to buy at that clicks? Any maintenance issue?
I'm loving older cars more and more. Becoming way more affordable and thrilling
Yes they are!
The b8 rs5 will be a collector vehicle in due time. Just as the e46 m3. It's a great future investment. Best looking and sounding audi in stock form. Just pure, unadulterated v8 goodness.
Couldn't agree more!
Mine’s a 2015, isn’t that a 8.5?
@@bbutler5090 Technically yes. NA didn’t get the B8.
My first car was a 2005 A6, really tame sedan but could move a little. got into an accident unfortunately, and I've been driving a little Toyota 86 for the last year. Was about to pull the trigger on a widebody scat pack challenger, when I found a
Great choice, congrats !
@@GlennsCarCollection thanks, man. Honestly, found an AMAZING ‘18 TT RS...and that turbo 5 is reeeeally tempting
Great car, they are really fast !
I'd take the V8 rs5 all day....lol can't beat the AWD
good point
Beautiful machine. I would choose THIS.
Good choice!
I never had a Audi but I want this car so bad specially the v8
Great choice, I hope you get one.
I almost pulled the trigger on a Supra because I have a feeling the 400z will have a huge markup even with the msrp being 10k less than a comparable Supra......but then I remembered this.
But now I'm reading comments on other channels that say a brake job cost 5k!
@@jmd11185
If you have carbon ceramics, (the rotors look wavy), but RS5’s could be optioned without them. No real benefit to ceramics unless you track the car.
Stay firsty, my friends. In 2013 I bought a 2006 C4S from a guy who was selling to buy a beautiful 2013 RS5. We were both quite happy 😆.
Very nice!
honestly not too much you can do to make the car faster. More like doing things to make it drive better and induce more fun
Good point
Going back and forth on this or the S6. The ride quality may be what sways me to the S6.
Yes, the S6 will be a more comfortable ride
Sounds incredible with just a few mods
It sure does
I have S5 with V8 7000rpm. With dual cluch transmission. A little slower car but its enought fast 😀
Great comment, thank you.
The v8 is so loud and high pitch it’s great
It sure is
With the high redline it reminds me of the sounds of restrictor plate racing where the cars just scream but takes a couple laps to get up to speed. I must admit I get a little grnb on my face when this thing is at 8,000rpm.
I have this car for sale right now with 28k on the dash milltec exhaust carbonfiber everywhere same color here fully specd out original sticker was 86. Selling it for 42500
Sounds like a great car. GLWS
RS5 All the way, amazing car
it sure is
Though I did buy a 2014 RS5, and I love the driving experience, it is the most underwhelming NA V8 I've ever owned! For a car that gets 17/23 mpg I would expect a lot more but with HP in the mid 400s and torque around 317ish it is just a heavy sled. In "D" mode I'm in 7th gear at 35 mph and I have to stomp on it or down shift to get up hills. Launch control is a serious letdown because when you hit the gas and let off the brake the car bogs down from around 5,000rpm to around 2,000! This car by no means competes, or is even in the same class with Mercedes or BMW. I've owned 3 Audi's now the other 2 being 2.0T and I would almost say they were more responsive. The thing about this car though is the classic look that takes me back to my cruising days. I love the simple and functional interior, yet the sound system is lacking a bit, the exterior is what did me! The 20" classic Audi wheels and the clean lines. The laser sharp taillights and the comfortable seats and steering wheel. If you're looking for a street machine though, this car is not it by any stretch of the imagination. The quattro though is where this car shines. It will be the sexiest car on the road during rain and snow while other cars still be stranded along the side of the road. Don't get me wrong, I love this car and usually take it for a spin everyday but I didn't get it to be a street racer or a track car. I have my C63S for that. This car feels solid on the road and you feel like it is stuck to the road and it doesn't feel like it's going as fast as it is, imo. With this car you can actually enjoy the scenery while your getting up to speed while the C63S gives you the thrill of what just happened when stomping on the gas. I bought this car because of the looks and I plan on keeping this thing stock because it just looks and feels like it should just be cruising in the mountains or along an ocean road. Simply a beautiful looking car with very little under the hood.
Sounds like you are doing launch control incorrectly. Drive select mode to dynamic, S mode with the shifter, press traction control button for sport, brake in, gas in, brake off. Launches from 6000 RPM and flies to 8300 in no time. Sorry you had such a bad experience with your car, but it sounds like you just didn’t know how to use it, because being in 7th gear under 140 mph tells me you never even heard what the other side of 6k sounds like...
You need a JHM stage 2 tune. It becomes a different car and will light up the bmw and merc. The throttle response and shifting is night and day
Get a tune bud
Love this description. And I'm coming from a C63s coupe (2018) so was wondering if I'd have as much fun on the road with this or not. I'm in the UK so quattro would be great (RWD was a nightmare for 8 months of the year) but the lack of power worries me a bit. From a very big torque AMG to a low torque RS sounds like it could be quite underwhelming?
Indeed, this previous generation is not really a sportscar by any means. Yet it sure does sound like it is (and rivals the LC 500 for normally aspirated sound) and while the steering is considered a tad heavy (the car is heavy overall), the quattro experience is exceptional. But you're right, for how thirsty this car is and for its potent sound, it's really not a match for a new model of its linage. For instance the new 2023 Audi RS 5 Competition will wax this one. People are so enamored with the appearance and sound that emotionally, they'll forgive the downside of the car. I'm somewhat in the same mode. The price of the previous generation is still in a bit of a gray area. Great for maintaining resale value, but maintenance and upkeep are also quite high. Has everyone priced those rotors and tires? Still, I love this car. It has special appeal and appears to be coming something of a collector's car.
I’m taking an m2 over this or e92 m3 which would you pick Glenn? Miss my e92, Hope to meet you at some event this year! Long Island checking in as always!
it depends. I have had a M2, E90 M3 and S4 as daily drivers. Audi is a better luxury and straight line car. The BMW's more for enthuisastic driving and handlnig
Damn I really miss my Chevy ss sedan. 415 hp 415 tq and I got it for 34k. Big boy LS3 6.2 liter as well as coming in just under 4 thousand pounds. But I’m thinking about upgrading from my A5 to RS5
An RS5 would be a great upgrade.
If I can find one for a good price yeah I def buy this
I agree,. Tough to find in this market. thanks for watching and subscribing
@@GlennsCarCollection had a chance to buy one about 2 weeks ago but someone had bought it like the day before n it was a decent price
thinking of getting one, how is the reliability of this car?
Not sure, never owned one, the forums are your best bet
My two current mini dream cars: this and the GLA45. You’ve covered both, what do you think about the versus? Buying soon
Hmm, tough choice. Two very different cars. Do you like 4 cylinder Turbos or V8's ?
I’ve always been a turbo4 guy but then I rented the RS5 via Turo and I now see what people mean. I’d say my biggest turning point rn is reliability and is the handling on the 45 really that much better?
No doubt great car but how come not a word about Audi Quattro or sport differential systems?
I want one but man I’m afraid of the repairs/maintenance. Especially at 100k+ miles
Good point, buy a lower mileage highly maintained example, you will pay more upfront but save a lot of $$$ down the road
Mine has 104k and I just put 2k on it on a drive. Change the oil. Get it serviced you will be fine.
RS5 any day.
Great choice !
Worth it just for the engine
oh yeah
This car looks so cool!
It sure does
Are the engines reliable
if you don't mod them, yes
No they are not reliable
Im thinking of trading my 22 scat pack in for one of these or a 2013 M5 I'm leaning more towards the RS5
if you need AWD definitely RS5. If you like naturally aspirated engines RS5. If you like turbos, M5
@@GlennsCarCollectionI like the sound of the RS5 they sound brutal but the M5 with the V8 and the sound of the turbos best of both worlds
I got mine on Christmas lol
Congrats
They went up in value
they sure did
@@GlennsCarCollection a lot too lol
2 years after your comment, even more up
I can't afford the tickets I get with my 2014 A5!
Good point Glenn
I agree
me too
nice 30 frames per second video
Actually, this car, the RS5 2010-2013 (B8) and from 2013-2016 (B8.5) are the same car. The previous model RS5's true model years are 2010 to 2016 in reality. Same engine, drivetrain, chassis and body. Even wheels and suspension. It's the same car. (You said 2013 to 2015. That's not accurate.) Great video, though.
Great comment, thanks for the clarifying.
I'm so stuck between the power of this RS5 and the features and looks from the 2018 S5.
Tough choice, you can't go wrong with either
@@GlennsCarCollection I’ve decided to go with the S5 it has the good looks, the new tech (Virtual Cockpit) is what fully sold me on it. It has good power 350hp the only downside is the V6 but gas was a big factor for me and S5 definitely gets better gas mileage. Second downfall is having no V8 rumble. Other than that I know it’ll be worth it for my first daily. I’m 18 years old this is a huge purchase for me.
Power? I'm not trying to be rude but unless you've driven a car with serious power you wouldn't be saying this car has "power" it takes several miles to get up to a respectful speed. NA are cool for being a doing breed but go with a turbo a supercharged car off you want to get serious power.
@@dylanwest85 I’m used to driving something with 500HP, that’s the reason I said it has decent power. I’ve gone with the S5 as it has the 3.0L V6 with turbo so the car has many more tuning capabilities than RS5. I also chose it as the S5 has way more features, and a lot better gas mileage. So in the end I’m paying more than RS5 but in the end I save money as RS5 is also high maintenance.
Same here. What did you end up doing?
B7 RS4 is much better option. A glorious 420 hp 4.2L V8 ( same as in the R8) but with a MANUAL transmission. And what a transmission it is. The RS5s are quick and sound fantastic but dynamically they are not great. Bad steering and suspension tuning. RS4 OTOH is fantastic to drive.
Good point!
RS4 was a more raw car, the RS5 is more of a compromise with luxury in mind. Throw some sway bars and coilovers in and this car hooks.
I have a 2013 Suzuka grey for sale
Nice !
We deal with none of that. Lol
Weather ? still have the E93 M3 ?
No way I’d choose this over the m3. It’s a good looking car but doesn’t match the bmws dynamics.
I literally shut it off after five minutes of begging people to like the video and subscribe to the channel. I think people know what to do if they like it. Please cut this out. It’s irritating and inconsiderate to people’s time.
it was like 10 seconds man, chill out.
