You probably call every song one of their best.
I saw them in 1978 between the first and second albums. They were incredible to behold live during that era of the band.

I owned this album and got into it before I got their first album when I was a teen in the late 70's. I was shocked how much more full a sound their first album had compared to the more tinny, treble sound of II. But both are all killer, no filler.
I agree with the comparison to the 1st album. It was definitely a departure. I saw them in ‘78 and they were incredible.

I said this yesterday "Light Up The Sky" is one of my favorites from this album. You still haven't got to the rawest track yet, which in my opinion is D.O.A. These two tracks forever battle for my favorite from this album. Favorite VH album? It has to be the first one, BUT...Fair Warning comes closer for me than any of the others...then Women and Children First ...then VH ll...then A Different Kind Of Truth (which could easily be number 3 or 4) then 1984...then Diver Down ...then 5150...then OU812
He actually did react to D.O.A. about a month ago. I do agree though that it is the rawest on the album

Yeah. VHII is my favorite album of theirs. And I think it's because VHII is so raw. It's almost like a basement recording.

The debut of The Mighty Van Halen is my favorite album followed very closely by Fair Warning. 1984 is an amazing album as well, however, all of the hits from that album were- and still are- overplayed thus it is oversaturated for myself. VH II and Woman & Children First are exceptional. A lot of people hate on Diver Down because half of the songs are covers but I think it is exceptional as well, just not on the same level as the other 5 albums.

People knock VH 11, following 1, which blew the music world away it's pretty hard to surpass 1. But then you get Woman and children first, 11 gets its fair criticism for more of a " pop" album but it's still in the Roth era third best in my opinion.
