One of the best house party albums ever made, we wore out numerous copies back in the day, and it still hits solid.
One of my favorite Van Halen songs. Kick ass riff! Diamond Dave's vocals greatly compliment the rough edge.

Good lord, this reminds me of the almost frantic way in which I sat down working to learn all these songs. As a young guy in a rock band, this album was a boon for us ass-kicking rockers. Those first six albums provided so much material for loud, ass-kicking rock and roll. Perfection.

If you do another one for VH2, you need to do 'Beautiful Girls'. One of my Faves, upbeat and fun. Great opening riff.

Jimmy Hendrix, Boston and Van Halen. Three different times when a totally new sound was introduced.
You are so right on- Van Halen and AC/DC! I have to say, when The Mighty Van Halen is on - there is nothing that can touch them - even the great AC/DC.
The only band that could hang with Van Halen during the Roth years was AC/DC, in my humble opinion. The albums really hold up to the test of time.

Ya gotta love those old Van Halen tracks..... Diamond Dave's voice was as important as Eddie's Guitar.. in the late 70's Van Halen was the house band at a club called Hollywood a go go. The Doors were also at one point the house band there. When I was in high school me and some friends on Friday Saturday nights would sneak in and watch them amount others. I have Van Halen's autograph in 1977.the last time I saw Van Halan with David Lee Roth was the US Festival in Devor CA in 1983. that was a great concert 3 days long. Love your take on this Great band. Important members leaving would have been the end to most bands but it just makes Van Halan stronger...they are the are the Energizer Bunny of rock groups lol
Biz! Just another day at work getting nothing done because I am watching you!!! I was 17 when Van Halen came out it in 1978! We never heard ANYTHING like Eddie Van Halen’s guitar playing. Just blew us rocker away! Still does today! Great choice one of my favorites!

Since then I’ve retraced almost every ACDC song you’ve done. Then I’ll go back and re-listen to a bunch of songs I’ve listened to lol. But I’ll get there!!

Girlfriend got me this album on my 15th birthday.
I prefer these linear, 4 track guitar solos. As opposed to the later "piece meal" solos Eddie did, with the help of the 16 and 32 multi track recording. They were more "song" oriented. Rather than "burn and learn." Although, his solo on "Hot For Teacher" is maybe his best. So...what can I say? 😊

If you're starting on VH 2, Full Bug is a great choice. Yes, you should do the album version of Eruption. I was running a 5k once just as the ending of this song was blaring right through the finish line. 😂

Most important with the early stuff was very few overdubs - Ed's playing rhythm and lead so the rhythm is carried by bass/drums while lead is melting your face - that's the way Hendrix did it too!
This song does kick ass! The studio version of Eruption is very short but will blow your mind. Little Dreamer is not as hard rockin but has a nice vibe to it
