It alwais make me sad the fact that the jester is clearly a smart and talented person (he plays the lute, knows circus skills and has a spontaneous humor) but he is always treated by everyone as a joke because of his work
let me tell you a joke my friend...the joke of life Imagine yourself a bard full of glee and joy your tool of trade the lute. travelling the world singing of brave heroes slaying dragons. heroes past and great deeds aplenty. once i came across what was supposed to be my greatest performance. i played for the king and his court the songs i played before...but i had learned they did not laugh not in joy but in mockery of me. they tossed knives, food and silverware at me. and told me i was funny and was the laughing stock of the court. he kept me there, playing, telling jokes, and having his court tossed at me. so what did i do? well this is the joke of life my friend. and that day i learned its hilarious punchline. with a slash from my knife the king's hand flew free...when i plunged into his throat he giggled...i finally got the joke...and it was hilarious...so hilarious i shared it with everyone else. the joke of life is funny because death is it's punchline. while i had no remorse for the king i did have a sense some still needed to laugh...even at my expense. and i learned of that dreary sad hamlet off near the coast. this little town could be it. the greatest performance will be held in the darkest dungeon

Interesting. The comics present it kind of plainly and the in-game lore kind of suggests he was abused under that king's rule, but somehow this animation actually blurs the line. We don't know if he was abused and finally snapped on this day or just went mad for some unexplained reason and merely thought himself the victim. Superb animation and a chilling thought. You are of course entitled to that opinion since the narrative largely suggests this. But to tell me there is no reason to assume he has simply gone crazy and murdered an actually kind ruler, his family and his people, that is completely wrong, considering we only see things from the Jester's perspective, as depicted by the outlines of the 'abuse story' panels. This art style is really good. There’s still a good amount of contrast in the colours while still remaining tied together, and the use of bold lines to make details is so cool. It feels like a storybook.
